  1. it got some good point but it dose not show a closer lay out on the time mark and on the two oil gear marks at all that the heart of the engine and if it dose not show a good picture of that you will put it back toghter wrong if you got a better picture send it to me so i could see it ok

  2. Somewhat useful manual. Does dissapoint in the fact that on the issues you might really need help on, the book tells you it is too complicated and to take the car to the dealer. But the book does have some useful information.

  3. I've almost worn this book out referring to it while modifying my Galant VR-4, which is essentially an Eclipse GSX in Galant trim with rear-wheel steering. When Haynes refers you to a dealer or other repair shop, it's for a good reason. There are easier and better ways to do some procedures, but for the most part this book is a great reference for anyone with even mild automotive repair experience. If you're doing an engine rebuild, get the Mitsubishi factory service manual since the Haynes book is incorrect in several places. Or get a rebuilt engine and save yourself a lot of time.

2 comments about Mitsubishi Lancer Evo: The Road Car & WRC Story.
  1. this is a great history of the lancer evo, but not a history of its modification or a how to guide. Its purely a historical book that has lots of EVO brochure information and is well written. A must for any Mitsubishi lancer or lancer EVO owner because it goes over the history of both.

  2. I own a 2005 Evo VIII and pre-ordered this book so I can learn about the previous models. A must have for the Evo owner and those looking to learn about the great tradition that follows these cars and the 4G63 engine. Great pricing from Amazon as well.

2 comments about Modelling the Mitsubishi A6M Zero (Osprey Modelling).
  1. Two things caught my attention right away - the author empahsized that this is a hobby and is to be done for fun and to satisfy the modeler, not the contest judge or the 'reviewer'. Excellent. Also, the caliber of this man's builds and his techniques are simply outstanding. This book is jammed with good advice, techniques and practices. The various sections describing the actual weathering and abuse the Japanes planes were subject to (and, more importantly in many instances, not subject to) is worth the price of the book. It seems to be a little known fact among modeling circles that the Japanese planes were primed with a dark red primer which would, naturally, show up due to wear, chipping, etc. This is seldom portrayed on most heavily weathered Japanese scale models. Reading books like this will help you do your homework in a most enjoyable way, and build better models besides. I recommend this book to you even if you are not interested specifically in Japanese aircraft because the philosophies and techniques are applicable to all kinds of scale modeling.

  2. I thought the book overall was not as helpful as it was played up to be. it went through the nemerous scale models 1/144,1/72,1/48,1/32 but it covered none in any heavy photos. overall a good article for fine scale modeler but not a book!
i got better reference photo's off of the internet than what was in the book.I purchased the book in the hopes of getting some insight into the way the 1/32 tamiya went the construction stages photo's of a real zero next to the model parts but that seened to be asking to much!

5 comments about Mitsubishi Type 1 Rikko 'Betty' Units of World War 2 (Osprey Combat Aircraft 22).
  1. The Betty is a famous japanese ww2 bomber, but on his operative are until today few notices. The book is the n° 22 in the growing Osprey Combat Serie; as usual is very well done, with rare photos, many colour plates, some orders of battle for the various air group and enough details on operative use. The evolution of the Sentai strenght and the appaling losses suffered from the aircrw are also well detailed. The action against the Force Z on december 10, 1941 and the use versus US Navy ships in the Guadalcanal campaign, is enriched with day by day account of the mission. I found the book in some way better than others in the same serie, with a particular attention toward new informations on the "Betty".

  3. Osprey has again come through with the goods with this 22nd volume addition to its series. It is filled with the same highly detailed aircraft and unit data readers have come to expect, and receive, from Osprey publications. It has this and a great deal more. I found it insightful and hard to put down. If this volume has any shortcomings it would be that it is so readable that it will be quickly digested by the reader! Mr. Tagaya held my interest through every chapter. I eagerly await the next volume by this gentleman (D3A Val Units) as a result of my satisfaction with this fine piece of research. A great deal of insight from various and numerous Japanese sources is very much in evidence here. Readers are exposed to the G4M Betty and the hardships of the aircrews/units that flew it to be sure, but as an added benefit Mr. Tagaya's research sheds light on the chasm of differences between Japanese and American air campaign theory and management in WW 2. Anyone with a more than casual interest in the subject will quickly realize its value and want to keep this reference readily available. Worth every cent you'll pay, and more!

  4. Osamu Tagaya is one of the world's foremost researchers on Japanese naval air forces. His superb command of the subject material is evident on every page of this volume. The illustrations are excellent as well. A valued part of my personal library.

  5. Rikko was a very imporatant part of the Japanese Imperial navy's offensive tactic and type 1 bomber along with type 96 (presicely speaking , "Land based Attack plane") was one of the most produced Japanese airplanes during the world war II. HOwever, it has been largely neglected and even condescendingly remarked with such an humiliated ephithet "flying Cigar". There are several volumes that covers this interesing speciman and cheery blossom like career of Type 1 Rikkoin Japan ,however Mr. Tagaya's volume is perhaps for the first time in English. Although the volume is a typical Osprey format , which mean less than a 100 page and lots of photos, text of Mr. Tagaya's insightful and often exciting, which show he has incisive knowlege on Japanese aviation in the pacific war. This is one of the best Osprey aviation volumes and I am eagerly waiting for his next volume in this series.

4 comments about Mitsubishi: Eclipse 1990-98 (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual).
  1. This is a very big book that covers the Eclipse series. The illustrations are in a mechanical diagram layout and are pretty easy to follow. The wiring diagrams are a must for anyone that wants to play with the car electrical system (for example: Car Stereo additions, fog lights etc). It covers just about every system in the car. It's also nice to find out how to remove panels or parts so you don't have to tinker around trying to find out how they come apart. It also includes a complete preventative maintanance section and tune up section, which will help you keep you car in top shape so you won't run into problems down the road. I cannot say much about all the step-by-step instructions, as some of them are rather vague, while others go into great detail. I have really used this book a lot and it is one of the best things I have got for my car! I would recommend this book to someone in the automotive hobby or someone with technical background. If you don't want to get your fingers dirty, then this book won't be of much help. But then again, I would NOT recommend this book to automotive professionals. There is no replacement for a factory service manual, which the dealers have. For under 20 bucks, this book is a must for any die hard Eclipse owner!

  2. This book is simple if you don't know a socket wrench from a regular wrench, but when you need details to make the repair you just did not need a professional mechanic later, chilton's lacks. usefullness.

  3. Work fine, Lacks part numbers for replacement pieces and such, little odd to follow at places unless you really know your car.

  4. Much better than the Hayes repair manual that doesn't even show the 1995 trough 1998 models on the cover. Chilton has always been my favorite repair manual. It's a drag that they seem to be so hard to find these days at the local auto parts store. This manual covers everything from normal maintenance to engine overhaul and all that falls in between. A must-have for the do-it-yourself people at any level.

  1. I tried to get a manual from Chilton, but they never had one for my model and year car. Thanks to the Haynes manual I can do most basic services on my car like brakes, belts, tune-ups. etc. and save money from taking it to the shop. The steps are easy to follow, but there could be more pictures. You also need to have above average mechanical skills to understand how to do many of the procedures.

5 comments about Mitsubishi: Pick-Ups and Montero 1983-95 (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual).
  1. Never again will I buy a book without loo0king first. What no information to fix car here

  2. I purchased this book to assist my do-it-yourself repairs on my '94 Montero. With the exception of the wiring diagrams which are good, I find this book is poorly organized and lacks critical location information for many of the parts for my truck. There are exploded view drawings that attempt this, but in reality most books aren't going to display this well without a huge expense. This is the first Chilton's manual I've ever purchased, my choice has either been Haynes or the manufacturers shop manuals in the past. Since the book comes sealed (apparently for good reason), I had no way of knowing how poor it was. There is little or no troubleshooting tree, and when provided it is very basic. It would appear that they gathered information for as many years of Mitsu trucks (including Monteros) as possible and put it in this book. I was trying to fix two items on the truck, my seatbelt light stayed on, and coolant was leaking from engine. In this book found no separate subsection on the engine cooling system, it is instead included in pieces in the engine rebuilding section. The book also failed to help me indentify the location or component that was causing the seatbelt light to stay on. I finally called a Mitsubishi mechanic to find it.

  3. I bought this book because it also covers the Dodge Raider (which was made by Mitsubishi, it's the same as a Montero)and already had the Haynes Manual for the Raider -- which I was somewhat disappointed with. This manual will assist you in performing many repairs which the Haynes manual simply advises you to take to a repair shop. This is OK if you're not confident in your abilities or don't have the correct tools, but I needed guidance for more advanced repairs, and this is where the Chilton's manual excels. It has the common failing of trying to cover too many years, and this can make it somewhat confusing. I suggest purchasing this in addition to the Haynes manual, together they make a good guide to repairs on these vehicles.

  4. This book saved me alot of money by allowing me to do alot of work myself. Money well spent. I got an L200

  5. Don't buy this book unless you are already an auto mechanic, and, in that case, you probably don't need this book. Simple procedures, like installing a radiator, are impossible to locate unless you go through it page by page. No references to "radiator", or "cooling system". Come on, Chilton, if you want this book to be used by the public, make it a lot for user friendly.
