1 comments about Reher-Morrison Racing Engines Championship Engine Assembly.
- I'm a beginner engine builder. I usually take the high end builds to the proper engine shop. I wanted to get a better insight as to how and why engines make more power with the reliability of the big boys.
If you don't have time for the hands on classes, this is the next best thing. Packed with secrets and seemingly common sense techniques. RM tells you how and why to do it right. Great product.

2 comments about Mini.
- As the owner of a classic Mini (1964 Morris Mini Minor) and a 2002 BMW Mini, this book was an extremely satisfying read. While it provides background on the originial Mini (although not to the level of detail that one might find in The Complete Mini by Chris Rees or Essential Mini Cooper by Anders Ditlev Clausager), the bulk of its 95 pages is devoted to the development, manufacturing, and marketing of the new Mini. The text is crisp and concise and is nicely complemented by excellent colour photographs and copious diagrams. Especially interesting are the assembly line photographs that show Minis being manufactured. The book is not just a glorified advertisement for the new Mini. The chapter on driving the new Mini provide objective insights into the Mini's strengths and weaknesses. A few minor criticisms of this book include some sloppy editting. The photograph of Sir Alec Issigonis on page 10 indicates he is posing with a pair of Austin Minis when in fact anyone who knows anything about Minis can clearly tell the two cars in question carry Morris badging. In addition, the book focuses on the US market and ignores any unique approaches to marketing the Mini in other countries (for example, the Canadian Launch Edition is totally overlooked). But despite these minor quibbles, this is a book that every owner of a BMW Mini should add to their bookshelf.
- The only disappointing thing was that it was stated as being an updated version but was really the one I already owned. But I kept it anyway.

1 comments about Original Mini Cooper and Cooper S (Original Series).
- John Parnell's precise first-hand research + Paul Debois' great close-up photography yield an absolutely indispensible reference book for the serious Mini Cooper buyer + restorer.
With 120 pages featuring over 200 specially commissioned color photos that target specific distinctions between models + international variations, this book will reveal the true history of any car claiming to be an authentic Cooper or S. All those fake Coopers would undermine the value of real ones without this guide to distinguish between them. Once you own a real Cooper, this book will point out which details are original + which details have been modified over the life of the car. That information should prove invaluable for winning concours events. THREE CHEERS FOR PARNELL, DEBOIS + THEIR PUBLISHERS!

5 comments about Mini-Cooper: The Cars and Their Story, 1961-1971 and 1990-Date (Essential Series).
- The Book's title is in fact quite true to its content, in that it only contains the essential facts about the Cooper.
The Cooper's development is quite well detailed, and this makes the book ideal for the enthusiast seeking his first book about the Mini Cooper. Mini restorers however, need to go into much greater detail than what this book can ever offer. Pictorially, the book is well-illustrated, though mainly in black and white. There is a slight imbalance towards Austin Cooper models in the pictures, as few Morris Coopers actually feature. However, the book remains a great addition to the shelves of those who want an entertaining read about the Mini Cooper story, in its production and competition guises, and merits a place on the bookshelf, in the company of other books about the Mini.
- This is typical of many auto marque books. It's a step by step, fact by fact, history of the Mini, with what feature changed when sorts of details.
What it's not is that it's not a guide on what to look for if you're going to buy one and it's not filled with enough photos to use as an authenticity guide or concours preparation guide.
- For those younger or others who may be interested in the history of the Mini Coopers, this is an excellent book for your overall history. In the 1960s I raced a Morris Cooper 970S with success.
For any Mini Cooper enthusiast, this is a book you must have.
- This book is a good starting point for anyone interested in a Mini - especially the older versions of the car.
There are many good pictures throughout and it is an adequate reference material.
This is not exactly a book to help in preparing a Mini for concours and it is a little weak as a restoration guide. There are better books out there if that is your objective.
Overall, this book provides a concise history of this car and a lot of useful and interesting information.
- This book is typical of the "Essential" series of marque history's and as a result is the most economical way to get a great overview (and lots of details, too) on these great cars. Informative, interesting text well illustrated with development and production photos in both black and white and many in color. Competition cars, and nice shots of Abingdon's tuning department at the MG factory where all of BMC's racing cars were prepared. You will not be disappointed.

5 comments about Mini Cooper Service Manual: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 Cooper, Cooper S, including Convertible.
- I recently bought an used 2004 Mini Cooper, the windshield wipers were worn out, the front washer nozzles were out of alignment, and the rear washer nozzle was completely blocked, I changed the wipers, align the front nozzles (with exact measurements) and unblock the rear one, just following the instructions in the manual. I could probably have done it by myself but it's nice knowing what you are doing in advance.
PROS: Lots of information, lots of illustrations, better than Haynes manuals.
CONS: The manual some times refers you to other sections, some of the images are not that clear, and it uses a lot of specialized tools from BMW.
- This product is the best available for the job. The book is exactly what i wanted and will save me lots of money in the future as i use it to repair my car.
Service such as I received should be available with all web site purchases. Thank you
- Excellent detail. It answered several questions right away. Laid out very well and easy to use when you need to see detail on working on the Mini Cooper.
- What more can I say, this is the best manual written. I have used many different types of manuals and this one is simply the best. Lots of great illustrations as well as some hard to find part numbers and error codes. A must have for the home mechanic.
- Thanks to the reviews here at Amazon, I knew what to expect, and unfortunately...I got it. I needed direction on replacing the back side lens. Nope, not in this book. I later wanted to do a fix on my door. That's not in here either. This is probably good for some things, just not the things I wanted to fix.
Bummer.
