5 comments about Volkswagen Cabriolet, Scirocco Service Manual 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 Including Scirocco 16V (Volkswagen).
- I had purchased the Haynes manual at a local auto parts store earlier. But it was not focused enough on the Cabriolet. This book cost twice as much, it's true, but it covers details in the Cabriolet that were just not available in the other book. So if your time is worth more than 5 bucks an hour you will be ahead paying the extra money.
- I have had a Bentley manual for every VW I have owned in recent years, don't waste you money on anything else. This is the most complete and easy to read service manual you can buy.
- This manual contains all the information you are likely to need to work on these cars. Detailed maintenance information, including the recommended maintenance schedule, is included.
- If you have this book it is an incredibly handy tool to have around in the garage or just in the house. Anything you need to know is in here.
- I have a VW Cabriolet 1989 and this is an excellent item, Must have for car owner. Detailed description of almost everything and pictures and images that really help!!

5 comments about How to Rebuild Your Big Block Chevy.
- This book was an excellent, step by step manual on how to rebuild any big block chevy engine. It was extremely helpful to me as i rebuilt my 454h.o. engine and also bored it .030 over. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is interested in engines, doing an engine rebuild currently, or anyone who likes mechanics! Just a fabulous manual! Go Chevy!
- Wilson's book presents a step by step how to rebuild your BBC without being an "upscale" list of bullet points. His presentation, while perhaps a bit grammatically insensitive, appeals to people who won't mind getting their hands dirty taking on their own rebuild project. I recommend Tom's book for anyone considering a rebuild of their Big Block Chevy. You won't find hot rodding performance tips here, but you'll come away with all the practical knowledge needed to work through it on your own. The one piece of advice I'd add to the book is that you use an oil pump primer to spin up your oil pump before first starting your newly rebuilt motor.
- I'm doing a partial rebuild on my 454. I picked up this book because I know next to nothing about rebuilding motors. This book gives a pretty thorough walk-through, beginning with removing the block, stripping it down, taking it to the machine shop and reassembling it.
There's good information in the book. My main gripe is the author assumes you'll be reusing most of the same components that you started with. I had planned to put a hotter cam in the motor and I know I need to check the clearance between valves and piston...none of this is covered. He just says slap the heads back on. This is another book that will probably be nice to have around if you're a beginner.
- I am in the process of rebuilding two 1966 Chevy cars and
this book not only told me how to do it but also the exact
tolerances to set. It will come in very useful.
- This book was quite informative to those of us who have never rebuilt a big block. I have several small block's under my belt, but no big blocks, thus my need for written guidance. The only negative I found was there could have been more part to part comparisons, i.e., starters, fuel pumps, air cleaners, carbs, etc.. The book was very detailed save the items I just mentioned. If you must tackle a Big block I strongly recommend this book.

5 comments about How to Tune and Modify Your Ford 5.0 Liter Mustang (Motorbooks Workshop).
- As a loyal fan to the 5.0 Mustang; I found this book to be highly educational. Steve Turner gives you the facts; what works and what doesn't, for the small and big budgeted 5.0 enthusiast. I read this book four times over in the first three weeks I owned it. This is an excellent book for anybody who loves 5.0 Mustangs; giving you a brief overview of their history before unleashing you to the masses of useful information it holds. I appreciate how it kept the driveway mechanic in mind. It's the type of book that if you put it down it's because you're running to your Stang; wrench in hand! You won't be disappointed.
- This book's description and title gives the impression that there are detailed procedures illustrated in the book however it is VERY high level with no detail whatsoever. If you're only looking for mod ideas, this book is fine but if you're wanting down and dirty details, go elsewhere.
- This book is the best available on SN95 in addition to Fox Body. I've read Mustang 5.0 Projects and Mustang Performance Handbook, and they very rarely talk about SN95's.
On the other hand, we have this book (How to tune & mondify your Ford Mustang 5.0): your best choice if you are looking for a good guide on what to put on your SN95 (94-95 Mustang GT & Cobra), what are the advantages and disadvantages of popular aftermarket products, mentioned brand names and part numbers. Again, this is my favorite book of all the 3 Mustang performance books I've purchased. Don't get fooled by other book authors who tell you their books cover 1979 to 1995 Mustangs because they DON'T in fact tell you Anything about 94-95 Mustangs except putting a single photo of SN95 in the preface.
- This book is more like "what you can do to tune or modify your 5.0L"
This book doesn't explain things like adjusting timing, modifying EEC programming parameters, etc. Instead this book explains that you can buy a new set of heads, or intake manifold, or cam, roller rockers. etc. Doesn't tell you how to do the work or give tips on getting the most from these upgrades, just says you can buy the stuff and install it.
The book explains nothing to you on how to do it.
- excellent to have for anyone who has a 5.0 Mustang..great tips money saving tips.. the 5.0 Mustang is the best street car for the money ..this book will show you in detail...

4 comments about The Compact Tractor Bible (Country Workshop).
- The small tractor is here defined as under 75 horsepower and there are nearly a hundred brands of compacts offered in North America - with accompanying variations in style and presentation. Any who would use a small tractor will appreciate the clear insights of The Compact Tractor Bible: it surveys power, design, price, and performance levels and offers up everything from safety assessments to operating costs. Color photos and diagrams also cover mowing specifics and operations and use, giving the would-be owner specifics key to understanding the pros and cons of each.
- Power, price, performance, and design of various small tractors are discussed and compared. Informative photos explain each model's pros and cons.
- I was mislead by the title and believe that this book should more accurately be called the Compact Tractor Primer instead of "Bible". The scope of info is large but the depth is shallow. The writing is excellent and the material is presented in a very readable manner, but being new to owning a tractor I was looking for an in depth reference that went well beyond my owners manual. I was disappointed that this book spent most of it's pages exploring an extremely wide variety of small farm, landscaping and construction machinery and less time examining the maintenance and use of what most people consider a "compact tractor", i.e.: a mini tractor with a PTO and 3 point hitch. If you don't know what's available or exactly what you need for your small scale task you may find this book helpful. This thin book took me an evening to skim the relevant paragraphs and will end up at the local book store for sale.
- Superificial coverage of a number of subjects. No reviews, opinions, or specs of individual models or product lines. Seems to have a somewhat UK slant, with some tractors and similar vehicles mentioned or pictured that I'd guess never reach the US. Somewhat useful for beginners, and it's interesting to see some pictures of some of those exotic machines(a Ferrari tractor!?). Covers not just tractors, but skid loaders, mini-excavators and so on. Interesting, but not what I'd expected.

5 comments about Audi A4 Service Manual: 1996-2001.
- The Bentley A4 manual is a very complete manual. The over all ease of accessing different service info is helpful when trouble shooting most problems. The diagrams are very clear to include the electrical images. The code chart is a must to be able to read the codes concerning all manner of stored computer codes. This is a manual for someone who has knowledge of auto mechanics. There are no step-by-step directions as with some other do-it-yourself automobile manuals.
- Aivan loistava opus. Helpottaa korjaushommia oleellisesti. Nyt harmittaa, kun en ostanut tätä kirjaa heti auton ostettuani.
Ehdoton hankinta ;)
- After reviewing the service manual on 08/09/2008, I have found that it is very difficult to get anything done from the manual. There are too many "see this section" inserts and one section will make you go another and then another, and you end up traversing the whole manual in confusion.
Example: I am trying to change my rear speakers, and in order for me to do this, I have to visualize from the menu from page 1 where it might be located, then after getting there, I have to visualize again where it says how to remove and replace them, because it does not say this. Now I find what I am looking for, and after reading it, I see I have to go from Section to Section, and the wording in one section is not the same in the other section where you were led to, for example in Section X 91-13 it says "remove parcel shelf, see Body-Interior section, Repair Group 70, but when you get there, you have to turn pages to find what you think it is, and it does not say "parcel shelf", but "rear shelf".
This book is very confusing, and very difficult for the not so mechanically inclined owners and the cost of the book is way too much for this kind of shabby publishing, and Bentley Publishers and Amazon should refund me 50% of the cost, because that is how much it is worth.
Thank You.
- Recieved quickly. Easy to diagnose problems thanks to the manual. Nice not to pay for an over priced mechanic any longer.
- This is a really good service manual. Points out alot of WRONG things with the haynes manual!!

3 comments about Haynes' Automotive Electrical Manual (Haynes AutomotiveRepair Manual Series No.10420).
- This book is fantastic in explaining how to find and fix a problem with a cars electrical system. Tells you what tools to use, how to use them, and how to go about making repairs. This book is a must for any weekend mechanic who gets anxious at the thought of working on electircal problems.
- I have been a backyard mechanic for about 10 years. The last 3 years, I have gotten much more serious by expnading my knowledge, tools, supplies and work load. During all this expansion, I promised myself I would learn electronics and really start getting serious with the subject. Every method I tried to learn electronics, I just couldnt grasp the advanced (useful) concepts. I tried several online courses, on the job training, other electrical manuals, pretty much everything. I found this book at my local library and it seemed like it would cover everything I wanted to learn. Within three days, I had everything I wanted to know practically memorized. The fourth day I spent about $100 in tools and supplies so I could practice what I learned. I have read this book front to back and already fixed several problems in my car and home. I just cant say enough good about this book. Not only is it well written and easy to understand, the topics go in order and have excellent pictures to match. I will return the library book and get one for myself. The only thing I can say negatively about this book is that the publish date is about 15 years old. Not much has changed since then, especially the basic concepts the book teaches. Overall, If you need to learn how to understand, troubleshoot, overhaul, or replace anything electronic that is automotive based; this book is for you!
- If you have no clue whatsoever about electricity and cars then this book will be a first step to understanding. I bought this book years ago when there were not that many books on the subject available but since then far better books have come on the market and if you can only afford one or just want to buy one book then I suggest tracy martins book. I hope I dont give the impression that this is a bad book, it isnt, the problem is it is neither good or bad its just a simple overview.

3 comments about Ford Pickups and Bronco, 1973-1979 (Haynes Manuals).
- This manual is an absolute essential for anyone who wants to work on an early ford bronco or 70's pick-up. It covers every topic from routine maintenance to engine and body repair. The content is based on a complete tear-down and rebuild of the truck. Although it is very technical subject matter, the wording is relatively simple where possible, and diagrams and photographs are very helpful. Information such as engine specifications and wiring diagrams are provided for individual year models where applicable. It does not discuss restoration explicitely, but the information it contains is as invaluable to the restorer as it is to the amatuer mechanic. In other words, this is truly THE book every early bronco owner should have on his shelf.
- As with most Haynes or Chilton manuals this book does give some useful information, step-by-step descriptions and nice diagrams. However it's sometimes a little vauge in it's descriptions. Also, as an early Bronco owner, this book only covers 1973 and later. This leaves 7 years of earlier production not covered.
Definitely a good reference, but I would also recommend finding an original factory Ford shop manual set. (5 book set usually found at swap meets or specialty automotive literature vendors)
- This is the first repair manual I bought to assist me in restoring my '76 Bronco. While it provides an adequate overview of the vehicles it tries to represent, it does not offer enough info to be useful to the more experienced do-it-yourselfer. Additionally, the coverage of pre-'78 trucks is insufficient for a manual that claims to be "Based on a complete teardown and rebuild". The only info that seems to stand out as being particularly useful are the chassis electrical schematics in the back. This manual is fine as a (very) basic reference to keep in the glovebox; however, if you're looking to do something more involved than doing a tuneup or brakes, look for a set of factory service manuals.
