- no real usable data for repairs, a coffee table book on the 964 at the most.
- Porsche 911 Enthusiast's Companion: Carrera 2, Carrera 4, and Turbo 1989-1994
If you have a Porsche, this book is for you. Don't be caught without it!
- A real MASTERPIECE!
Complete, detailed, vast and easy-reading.
Perfect "Companion"
Thank you Adrian
- I have had a 964 model Porsche for about two years and now want to get to know the car much better. This book is perfect as it describes and gives some idea of the repair situation for DIY. Great !
- Not a lot to add to what many of the others have written. The book in addition to being a good general reference to some factory specs and some aftermarket setups and parts is a pretty darn good read. Can't say that for a lot of reference books. It is not a substitute for the factory service manual. There are many things I thought should have been in the book but wasn't, given the fanfare of it being the bible of 964s.
I found that the Technical Data Without Guesswork was handier for quick tech reference to specs, capacities and torque values. It also covers a little bit of theory of operation.
Streathers is more in depth along those lines and it picks up where the factory manual leaves off.
My only REAL complaint is the binding of this book. The pages seperated from the spine at page 372 and continue to migrate the page seperation with each use. I'm thoroughly disgusted with that as I will surely have completely loose pages before long. The binding is simply too weak to support the number of pages which is 636.

5 comments about John Lingenfelter on Modifying SB Chevy Engines.
- If you are a fan of John, buy the book. of course he was one of the best builders ever on this planet.
The book is nice written, but he don't tell you his secrets in this book.
Yes it is full of What to do, NOT how to do It, little or no specifications to bring your project to a satisfying end.
Most annoying is the fact, if it get's difficult his last sentence on the subject is.... get your (whatever part) to Lingenfelter
and we do it for you. That's not the reason for most people to buy this book.
br. Arnoud.
- I purchased this book when it was released in 1996. I had just finished a 355 and had it running. I learned so much more than all the magazine how-to articles I read that I had to pull the motor and change the oil pump and file-fit the rings. So much of what I read in this book made too much sense. This book was reviewed in one of the Chevy rags and the first thing mentioned was the misuse of high volume oil pumps. Every street engine buildup story seems to use a high volume pump and this guy tells us not to for a good reason. There is something to learn in every section of this book. You may even sound like you know what you're talking about on your next visit to the machine shop. John's legacy lives on. He was highly regarded in drag racing, his company is still turning out fabulous street cars, and I think he was the hot rod hero for everyman. Anyone need a high volume oil pump?
- I wanted a book on modifying V8 engines and this is it.The author is known for his performance and racing engines.John explains which modifications are ideal but more importantly, explains why.
This book is ideal for all petrol engines not just Chevy engines. The tips and techniques can be applied to any petrol engine.
Plenty of photographs throughout and its a great read. Most engine builders and amateurs will enjoy this book.
- A good general review of smallblock chevy engine building John Lingenfelter on Modifying SB Chevy Engines
- Very informative book, had fun reading through and looking over the changing you can make.

- I've been using Haynes repair manuals for many years. I find them to be better than Chilton manuals most of the time. Chilton books have an annoying habit of not showing you the one critical piece of information that you need to know. I never seem to run into that problem with Haynes manuals. I definately recommend this manual.
- This is a good book taht is eiser than most books to use. Everything I wanted was there. To bad all the motor books are not this good

5 comments about Advanced Airbrush Art: How to Secrets From the Masters.
- Superb book for learning. I only wish this group of ten painters, will do it again, with different subjects...
- I look forward to using the advance techniques that this book provides.
- This book has some good techniques for someone who has some knowledge, but does not have any step-by-step projects for beginners. The step-by-step projects it has are for someone who has some knowledge and experience of painting and airbrushing. It seems nice for this purpose though. I wanted a book for an absolute beginners such as myself. I will keep the book and probably will use it after I learn some about airbrushing. I know some about painting so I can see how this would benefit someone with some skill and knowledge. It shows procedures and tips for painting gas tanks for motorcycles.
- First of all, this isn't really a book. It's more like a magazine.
Second, the airbrushing exmaples inside (while very well done) aren't what I expected.
If you're interested in airbrushing a flaming skull on a motorcycle then this book (er, magazine) is for you.
But if you're like me, and interested only in airbrushing illustrations, then this isn't for you.
- Ii think it's a really good book. This one includes really detailed step by step of several work and with different artists. They explain how they do to ackomplish the result. Then it's a small interview with every artist, how they got into buissness, what gear they use and so on..
All work in the book is painted on motorcycle-tanks. Recommend this one! Nice photos and many of them, easily to follow the procedure.
This book fits for people that has some knowledge about aibrushing.

5 comments about Ford Flathead -New Edition.
- I believe that the Title of this book should be "Ford Flathead Builders Handbook 1932-1953" not 1932-1958. Jay Smith
- Book is fully illustrated, shows stock & high performance rebuilds; finding the perfect block, selecting the correct components; manifolds, heads, camshafts, crankshafts, pistons, ignitions, exhaust, boring, stroking, porting & relieving & cooling. Very well put together book.
- Thinking of modifying that old flathead V8? If so, pick up this book, lots of really good hot rod stuff to help that flathead perform bette than before. Good tips on fuel, oil, heads, and all other aspects of building a hot rod flathead. Written by Frank Oddo, of Street Rodder magazine fame, this book is similar to the year long buildup they had a few years ago in Street Rodder. Excellent reference for building a non stock flathead
- This book details the quest of a flathead ford build up. While most of the info is centered around the later 49-53 engine (which is the one the author is building) there are off-shoots in appropriate places detailing the other differences for those working with the earlier engines. Lots of detailed information about many aspects of the disassembly and build. This and Tex Smith's (by Ron Ceridono) are the two best flathead books available. There is little other published information that these two books do not include.
- Yea, If'en you be a own'en one of them there Ford(or French) flatheads, then you sure gots to have one of these good old boys books. It has a lot of very useful info and teamed up with a few others, you pretty much will have everything you need to know..I am most happy... (been a flathead owner most of my 50 some mechanical years)
