1 comments about Cafe Racers of the 1960s: Machines, Riders and Lifestyle a Pictorial Review (Mick Walker on Motorcycles, 1).
  1. This is fantastic book for those of us who weren't around to experience the cafe racers of the 60's and 70's. It's like a time capsle sending you back to the lifestyle and genre of the ton-up boys and what it meant to earn that label.

Book was just as described from seller, perfect and unused condition.

3 comments about Motorcycle Journeys Through the Southwest (Motorcycle Journeys).
  1. This books gives some pretty cool descriptions on different areas in the Southwest including Southwestern Colorado. My husband and I are familiar with the Colorado chapter and it was as though we were going through it again. Except it was in words and in our minds. My husband is going to take the recommendations and ride from the Chicago Area to the Taos New Mexico area. I will follow 2 days behind him with kids in tow. The author also provides valuable information on watering holes as well as places to eat. In desert areas you want to be prepared as to where the last gas station is. The author also gives explicit details on road conditions which makes the trip a lot easier to palette knowing where the "bad" spots are. Either you choose to ride gingerly through it or go around. I highly recommend this book. It's a good read and it contains lots of valuable information.

  2. This book is very well written with the motorcyclist in mind. Recommended camping areas, off the beaten path type routes and recommended stops along the way. Well put together and a good read, highly recommended.

  3. OK reference, but don't use it exclusively. I have several books I consult when planning a ride. This book will give you several tid bits, but I could have written a better book on my own.

5 comments about Pontiac GTO Restoration Guide, 1964-1972 (Motorbooks Workshop).
  1. Had wished more detailed information was included in this book. It is a good general overview.

  2. Found the book to be very informative. Many diagrams, and illustrations. Recommend the book to Pontiac GTO enthusists

  3. Nice book with diagrahms and some pics. Wish there were more details on '72 model year that I need. If rebuilding '66 - '70, this book will help your restore pretty well.

  4. Very disappointed with Amazon having a secondary publisher company handle their inventory. Ordered book in August and 29 days later the book finally arrived. Called the secondary company as they no longer respond to email inquiries and was quickly told that I would have to wait a full 30 days to request a refund. They said they had no tracking info either. Poor company to deal with. Suggest Amazon review their policies and how they handle customer disputes on their behalf.

Happy with the book but not the headaches associated with this transaction. Amazon itself has always been very good.

  5. My husband is currently restoring a 64 GTO and was like a little kid with a new toy when he opened this present on Christmas morning.

5 comments about How to Work with and Modify the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Transmission (Motorbooks Workshop).
  1. i purchased the book and it is indeed a wealth of information. however the jigs and tooling you need to do a complete tranny rebuild properly will cost you way more than you would ever save trying to rebuild it yourself. its just not worth it . hell i had a reputable shop pull mine rebuild it put it back in replaced the mounts cooler lines and facory torque converter and they gave me a 2 yr waranty on it for less than $...
hell im an aircraft mechanic and didnt want to attempt the rebuild on my #s matching tranny. Its like Clint Eastwood says "a mans gotta know his limitations.".

  2. Great reference for rebuilding any TH400 - contains complete information in a step by step format. This is the first reference I've seen that contains information about the TH400 used by AMC (Jeep) other than the actual service manuals.

  3. If you want to rebuild or modify a TH400 for racing, this is the book to have!

  4. This book covers all you need to know on rebuilding and modifying your Turbo 400 transmission.Every chapter is explained in great detail.Plenty of information, diagrams and photos throughout.

If you are rebuilding and modifying your Turbo 400,this is the ideal book to have.

  5. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE EARLY EDITION OF THIS BOOK WHICH THE COVER PICTURE SHOWS ON THE WEBSITE YOU WILL NOT GET WHAT YOU ARE ORDERING. YOU WILL GET THE LATER EDITION. I HAVE ASKED AMAZON TO CHANGE THE COVER PICTURE BUT AS OF TODAY NO ONE IS LISTENING.

5 comments about Ford: Mustang/Cougar 1964-73 (Chilton Automotive Books).
  1. A definite requirement for anyone who is planning to own any of the above cars.

  2. I am very impressed with the amount of information and repair advice in this book. Because the early Mustangs are not as complicated at more modern automobiles, compared to recent manuals, this one has room to go into much greater detail. For example, the engine rebuild section is nearly as comprehensive as one of the books on rebuilding fords engines and is naturally focused on the engines found only in Mustangs.

There are many troubleshooting charts and the specification tables and accompanying photos and drawings are very useful for model and equipment identification, especially if one is restoring a car.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs to service a Mustang from these years, and also recommend it to anyone who is restoring an early Mustang, or considering purchasing one.

  3. Overall has the best information. A manual that a beginner or experienced person can understand. Excellent book for mechanical or restorative use.

  4. I have a 1967 Cougar and this manual was very helpful. Everything from diagrams of the engine to wiring diagrams.

  5. These chilton books really annoy me because when the repair gets ugly, they always state something like, "please take your vehicle to an authorized repair shop". Also, the particular book Amazon sent me had my year/make/model wiring diagram torn out of it. WTF? By the time I discovered this, the return deadline had passed. I also bought the CD version of the original shop manual and it's 10x better anyway so no big loss.

  1. sistem mechanic chevrolet blaze

  2. This book is helpful but does lack information on replacing parts that are common replacements on Suburbans. Also sometimes pictures do not have arrows specifying which part it is actually showing. Since this is the only book I have found that covers Suburbans, it is helpful but I hope someday someone will do a complete teardown and use better pictures and/or drawings.

  3. This manual has some really basic infomation. It is nothing like an acutal repair manual for my specific vehicles (1990 Suburban or 1972 C20). I have the Chevy repair manual for the C20 and it breaks down diagnostic and repair steps for just about every componant for the truck.

This one is pretty generic. Again, it is worth having if there is nothing more specific for your specific model/year.

  4. It's the book, but what a chip papper

5 comments about Mustang 1964 1/2 - 73 Restoration Guide (Motorbooks Workshop).
  1. I bought a 68 as a project in a semi dismantled condition, this book is an excellent reference for piecing together which bits go where (& which are missing!), the notes on options are also useful.

This is my first restoration & this book will be a valuable source of information.

  2. Gives you good information about model development, and original and optional equipment and modifications. Good photgraphs. Good description of essential parts by model year. The exploded line drawings give you a general impression of the build and parts, but they are not adequate for do-it-yourself projects. I miss information about function (i.e. ventilation or heater regulation) and about fluids (oil, cooler etc.)

  3. This book is an excellent guide for anyone who is restoring an early Mustang or needs information identifying an existing car or possible purchase. Richly supplied with photos, diagrams and tables of specifications, the book gives nearly all the informtion to do an accurate restoration of a 64-70 Mustang.

The biggest flaw is that many of the data charts do not include information past 1970. The engine identification photographs and charts fail to give information past 1970. Since the motive power for a Muscle Car is of great interest to most owners, this is an important oversight. The section on interiors also fails to show photos or diagrams beyond 1970. Since I am restoring a 1972 with a trashed interior, I was very disappointed not to be able to tell how my interior should look. The trim codes list didn't go beyond 1970 so I couldn't tell what the colors should be. The suspension section and driveline section is also short of critical information.

For a person working on a 64-70 Mustang, I highly recommend the book. It is richly filled with information and visuals. I would still get the book as a restorer of a 1971-1973 because there is lots of great information, such as complete information on the body and paint. Much of the missing information can be inferred from the 1970 model and since one also needs a shop manual, the rest of the information would be there.

  4. As long as you realize this book provides all the nitty gritty details of a Mustang, you should be happy with it. You will note many of the diagrams are the same ones used in the parts catalogs like NPD. Since I am in the stage of disassembly and early restoration, it won't get much use yet but once I start to put things back together, I see this book as very valuable. There is not much verbiage so this will not give you the "tricks" to put things together but should be a good supplement to other books.

  5. This book has alot of information/data but none of it is useful unless you need specific concourse part numbers, etc. Even so, the diagrams are jumbled several to a page making them virtually unreadable and hiding any detail you might be looking for such as how exactly the 1968 headlight bucket attaches to the fender/grill (just as an example). If you need detailed, specific information, it would be best for you to purchase your car's make/model/year factory service manual. The most irritating issue I have with this book is that it's a regurgitation of diagrams and data tables but does not include listings of part numbers to match the diagrams. For instance, the body panel breakdown contains part numbers listed with the body panels but there's no cross-reference to find out what exactly the body panel's name is as you would need to order it from a parts house.

5 comments about Vespa Scooters Owners Workshop Manual: All rotary valve models 1959 to 1978: No. 126 (Owners Workshop Manual).
  1. If you own a vinatge Vespa from 1959-1978 you should own this service manual even if you don't plan on working on your scooter. It helps with routine maintence, trouble shooting, and just basic knowledge of your machine. Take care of you scooter and it will take care of you. Tons of pictures, parts and wire diagrams. A MUST HAVE!!!!

  2. This is a great book for minor OR major repair to Vespa scooters. It covers vintage models of different styles. For the Sprint 150cc, I found the wiring diagram easy and helpful. It appears the diagrams for others were as complete. All were color coded as well. The book is well illustrated for most any job necessary.

  3. Perfect book to read and help you understand your vespa. I feel its a good book.

  4. A very thin book and little actual technical information. Do not bother buying this manual. With a little patience you can find all this information and more on the internet at sites such as scooterhelp for free.

  5. Useful comprehensive guide with easy to follow photos.
A must have if you own an older scoot.
