5 comments about Audi TT Service Manual: 2000-2006: 1.8 liter turbo, 3.2 liter; including roadster and quattro.
  1. The Audi TT Service Manual provides quite a comprehensive information on the vehicle. As a DIY, I found almost all(99.9%) solutions to my problems. Whether as a DIY or an enthusiast - no hesitation, JUST BUY.

  2. while this Audi TT manual has a lot of clear pictures and is written so an idiot can work with it, there are blanks in the information available to really fixed your car.

  3. Though I agree that the manual has an incredible amount of information, and is very useful; I must also admit that it tends to leave out useful information necessary for the home enthusiast. Specificly it does not mention that in order to remove the front bumper cover assembly, one needs to block up the car, remove the front wheels, and remove the wheel well covers in order to reveal the two appropriate screws on each side. This may be a no brainer to someone who regularly works on these cars, but is not an obvious step for those of us who haven't.

  4. If you own a MK1 TT you need to get this book , even you don't pan on doing your own work. There are many things that tend to be unique for the TT and this is a great guide for anyone doing work on your vehicle other than the dealer.

  5. If your looking for the complete version you have to buy the dvd from bentley. This book doesn't cover any of the section on the wind deflector, if you want that you have to pay bentley an additional $50. I recomend just buying the dvd for $99

4 comments about Big Board First 100 Machines (Bright Baby).
  1. This is a great book! My son loves the realistic pictures of all of the machines and they're all named, so I can teach him what they are called (like a back hoe, I thought it was a tractor). And the book is big enough to share w/ buddies or siblings. We also bought the 'First 100 words' book too.

  2. My son loves this book. He can almost name all the machines when we read it. He also tells me the name of the cars/trucks when we are driving in the car. Buy it!

  3. My 18 mth old carries this book around with him. He loves it. The pictures are large and colorful.

  4. These books are a great deal for hours of fun! My little guy looks at the pictures over and over and doesn't ever seem to get tired of hearing the names of all the pictures. These books have been great for his vocabulary as he tries to say all the words too!

5 comments about How to Hot Rod Volkswagen Engines.
  1. Even though this book was written in the 70's and there are alot of performance upgrades now, compared to back then, it was still very informative to the basics of supin up your peashootin bug.

  2. O.K. The book is archaic, BUT anyone who is seriously interested in the history of VW performance and understanding basic air-cooled fundamentals must read this. There are some sections of no practical use today, but many principles are timeless. Anyone who wants to understand the theory and physics of the engine should read this book. The knowledge base gained from reading this book can help prevent you from making the same mistakes your father or grandfather made when modifying their Beetle!

  3. Has alot of good valuable information to add HP to your VW. And what combinations work well togather. How to get mor bang for your buck. Downfalls is it is a bit out dated and doesn't have a section on step by step how to put togather a hot rod motor.

  4. This book gives you exactly what it claims. All the best ways to improve performance on your VW. There is quite a bit for the average bug guy but has great technical information for the top mechanics. I wish there had been a bit more on improving fuel injected engines though.

  5. The How to Hot Rod Volkswagen Engines was over my head.

  1. Even though you're not planning to repair your bike yourself, this is a very good addition to the owner's manual that's missing quite a lot of important information.

It basically has everything you need to know about repairing and maintaining your Yamaha bike.

  2. The book came in expected condition. They shipped quickly and did a great job.

5 comments about Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Pocketbook (7ORSA).
  1. I have to agree with Mr. Liter of Cola. I am a new member of the Spurbury Highway Patrol and this is by far the most helpful book of them all. My favorite book used to be "Swinging with Criminals" but now it is this. Thank you J.J. Keller!

  2. Axactly what I ordered and wanted. Price was right. Comes in very handy. Thank you.

  3. This is a valuable read if you are a CDL driver or if you are an HR person dealing with CDL drivers. Gives you all the lowdown on new rules and regs. in a pocket size book.

  4. It was just what I needed for my husband's truck in order to be in compliance.

  5. This book is just what the title says -- it is the regulations published by the FMCSA for the trucking industry. Obituaries are more interesting to read. HOWEVER, if you are in the trucking industry there is something in there that pertains to you, whether you are a driver, a truck mechanic, builder, broker, etc, etc. And yes, it should be required reading for anybody in the industry, at least those portions that affect you. My gripe with this book, is the that it is totally written in government legal speak. Sometimes you have to spend too much time trying to understand what it is that they are trying to say. This book could be made some much better if they not only gave you the "rule", but then interpreted it into layman's terminology. There is a small section that attempts to do this with Q/A. But not enough detail. Tell us how to put the rule into action. Index the different sections that an individual needs to know. For example, does a driver need to know the intricate details of how to conduct a drug/alcohol test? No. He does need to know when he may be required to submit to one and the penalties for not doing so, or not doing so in a timely manner, including the fact that violating the rule could mean the loss your job and become unemployable in the industry. Conversely, does the person conducting a drug/alcohol screening need to know what is required in Pre-Trip Inspection? Again, NO. And to the cops in Spurbury, VT. I hope that you have had more training in these regs than just reading the book, and if not I will steer clear of your town because if you try to enforce these regulations and dont know what you doing, you are just going to make a bad day for a driver.

4 comments about Today's Technician: Automotive Electricity and Electronics (Classroom and shop manual set).
  1. my teacher recommend this book for reference about study of automotive

    electricity.

After buying this book, it highly satisfied me

  2. I have got the book, but It says Shop Manual as well.. and i haven't received that yet? How do I return it? or can u send me the shop manual or alteast explain why does it say shop manual and its not being send

  3. This like all automotive books from Thompson Delmar publishing tries to cover everything. The problem is it doesn't have enough detail to fully explain the theories being discussed. How can Hall effect sensors be fully explained without a picture of what it actually looks like in an automotive shop environment? Automechanics must know how to test a hall effect sensor to properly diagnose a crank no start condition. This test is done on the signal wire coming out of the sensor. There is only one signal wire coming from a hall effect sensor in an engine. On page 312, it shows a hall effect sensor with two signal wires going out of it. Which wire would be tested? The picture is misleading. That's just one example of many of how this book cuts corners and shortchanges in explaining.
If you need this book for class, pray that you have a conscientious teacher who will fully explain all the misleading pictures in this book. If you don't have a good teacher, you will most likely have to buy books by Halderman to understand what is being discussed in class and then you will be prepared to understand this book. If you can understand everything in this book then you are either a genius or you have been exposed to automotive electronics in a professional or hobbyist setting. In either case why even bother signing up for an automotive electronics class? I would give one star to this book but it challenged me and pointed in me in the right direction of what to study if I'm going to make any money from repairing automotive electronics. For that it gets two stars.

  4. I purchased this book because it was required for my automotive electronics class.. Although it's a two volume set, a lot of the same information can be found on both books. Never the less, it's a nice book to learn from and use as a reference when trouble shooting electrical circuits.

One huge issue though is because it's written with a students perspective in mind the quizzes/questions at the end of each chapter do not come with answers that you can use to cross check!

5 comments about How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car.
  1. This book gave an excellent overview of how to restore your z car and a lot of interesting bacground stuff. But was technically weak. I still found myself going to the repair manuals for many things.

  2. perhaps the last chapter should include a trailer shopping guide for the shear fact it would be sickening to restore a Z this much and then abuse it again by driving it. this book is worshiped more than likely by people who like trailer queens, and the author needs a hair cut.(buttttt) i did enjoy seeing someone else doing the work for once. and i would recommend the book to others for its various useful tips.

  3. I saw this book long before I bought it, and after buying it, I was very sorry I took so long to get it! It covers most every aspect of the full restoration of this beloved car. From the frame-up or a little at a time. This book has the info you need, and more. The info inside can not be purchased, borrowed, or stolen for a better price! Alone, this book is not enough, but it's a great way to get the spark ignited. (No single book could possibly have everything, I know, I have bought almost all of 'em.)

  4. "~I would largely reiterate what the other reviewers have said: this book is the single most comprehensive reference for a partial or ground-up rebuild of your Z. I would have only a couple of negative things to say about it:"~ you are told to adjust the flange angle on the Johnson Rod strut, it can leave you scratching your head...

  5. This book is great, it takes you through almost all of the steps that you need to completely restore your car, but on a lot of things it merely mentions them and doesn't really tell you a lot about what your supposed to do. What I did was I bought this book and a haynes automotive repair manual(or Chilton's) and I used that for the more technical stuff. This book has 20-30 pages of exploded views of various areas on the cars and also has a list of retailers that sell parts and/or services for the z series. If your trying to restore your car get this book.

5 comments about Chilton's Ford Pick-Ups and Bronco 1987-96 Repair Manual (Chilton's Total Car Care Repair Manual).
  1. Chiltons books used to help me rebuild engines, transmissions, axles and more. They were very detailed and helpful. When I opened this one to try to troubleshoot the transmission, it says the only thing I am smart enough to do is check the fluid level. Beyond that, I need to go to a mechanic.

Somewhere along the line, Chiltons has become completely worthless. I'm not wasting my time or money on them anymore.

  2. I purchased this book to find out how to repair the heater and change the fuel filter on my 1990 diesel F250. It offered no help on either. Trees have fallen in the forest for no good reason.

  3. A more comprehensive repair book than a Haynes Manual. Written by the Haynes
    people anyway.

  4. I ended up replacing the water pump before I got rid of this truck and the diagrams and directions in the manual got me through it with minimal headaches. Now if I could just afford to buy all the tools needed!

  5. I have a Chilton's manual that I bought when I had my old mustang. It covers '87-93 Mustangs and was an INVALUABLE resource when I had that car. In fact, I continue to reference it frequently when I'm doing work on my '87 Thunderbird, because it's based off the same chassis and many things are similar. I bought a Hayne's manual for my Thunderbird and I hated it, so I went back to the Chilton's for most reference.

    So, when I bought my '94 F-250 diesel, I figured a Chilton's would be a good investment.

    Boy was I wrong!

For starters, my truck is a 7.3L IDI Turbo diesel, which was produced in '93 and '94. There is not even a MENTION of this engine in this book. It jumps straight from the naturally aspirated 6.9/7.3 IDI, to the Powerstroke. Now, granted, the Turbo IDI is pretty similar to the n/a IDI, but some mention of the turbo system or something would have been nice.

From there it gets worse. I can't believe the amount of detail that is nowhere to be found in this book. As another reviewer mentioned, this thing completely omits anything about the fuel filters on the IDI engines. Then, later on in the book, it skips over many other topics. It describes how to remove the instrument cluster, but doesn't specify which model year it's talking about, and includes several unnecessary steps while leaving out necessary ones (I removed mine with help from some folks on a message board). No instructions on how to remove the headlights or marker lights are present anywhere in this book...only how to change the headlight bulbs. The exploded assembly diagram for the 4WD front suspension is smaller than a 3x5 index card and it's impossible to make out any detail. Things like this should have at least half a page dedicated to them! And that's just what came across for things I've been trying to do on my truck so far.

I don't even understand how you could produce a repair manual that was lacking this many important details.

4 comments about 25 Years of Buell.
  1. The definitive history of the first 25 years of Buell. Well written and an easy, quick read. The authors use their contacts at Buell to give you an insiders look at the beginnings and history of this innovative American company and a look at it's talented and persistent founder and leader Erik
Buell. A great book for any motorcycle enthusiast and especially for a Buell owner, or for anyone interested in the history of a person turning a passion into a successful manufacturing company against all odds through hard work, smarts, and a commitment to excellence and the people who work for and with him.

  2. This book tells a fascinating story. At its core, it's the tale of the ultimate realization of the American dream. 25 years ago, Erik Buell, a clearly bright and creative engineer, but otherwise normal guy - just like anyone you or I grew up knowing - started making motorcycles in his garage and through hard work and perseverance turned it into a world class motorcycle company.

How many other people have been able to do that in modern history? I'll give you a hint - none.

As a fan of motorcycles since I was a boy growing up in the `70s I've watched more than I can remember come and go and only Buell has hung in there and made it work.

When I saw this book was coming out (I am nearly certain there have never been any other books about Buell before - trust me I've been looking) I ordered it immediately and then waited . . . and waited . . . and waited, but now that it's out, it was definitely worth the wait.

I thought I knew Buell motorcycles until I bought this book and found out all the things I didn't know. While I've watched cool motorcycle after cool motorcycle being reviewed in the motorcycle magazines that I subscribe to and look forward to reading each month, I never had any idea how close many of those models had come to never making it.

The authors are clearly fans, and, while their subjectivity can be a bit much at times, most of the time it's infectious. We are right there with them, cheering Mr. Buell on through each trial.

Like the motorcycles, the writing is at times quirky, but always fun. The photos are spectacular and tell the story in a way words never could. The images take me back in time to the first time I saw those models unveiled. They're familiar now, like old friends, but as I viewed them, I found myself often transported back in time to the first time I had seen them.

An enjoyable and entertaining read for anyone who enjoys motorcycles. . . A MUST read for anyone who is (or thought they were) a Buell fan. I highly recommend it.

  3. I have been a sideline admirer of Buells for many years, and found reference to this book on the badweatherbikers webb site.

I just couldn't put it down, and read it at one sitting. It has given me a much better appreciation and understanding of the Buell mototcycles and the people responsible for creating them and bringing them to market. My next motorcycle will be a Buell!

Shipped from Amazon on 8-30, arrived on 9-4. Great book, its a keeper on my coffee table.

    Husky

  4. This a great book that highlights one man and a handful of loyal employees firmly set on building a true American sport bike. Erik Buell is the epitome of what makes the United States a great country. As a Buell owner I could not put the book down and read it cover to cover in one sitting. This is a must for Buell enthusiasts but a great read for anyone who wants to understand how a small company can make such an impact on a large market.

It is clear that Buell ownership is not about just owning a motorcycle but a lot more.

The only complaint I have about this book is it left me wanting more.

5 comments about Corvette Black Book 1953-2008 (Corvette Black Book).
  1. The 2008 version of the Corvette Black Book carries on the tradition of the "standard" by which all other Corvette guides are compared.
Revised data and information on the current year model is always top-notch!

  2. The only source to get the year specific correct data on options and key information

  3. This book is updated each model year. It is a concise and excellent information source for the Chevrolet Corvette. It includes every production year up to the date of printing. I buy a new copy every couple of years.

  4. If you own a corvette (regardless of the year) you should have a copy of Corvette Black Book It list all the available options, the cost and how many were ordered.

  5. If you're a Corvette owner, or a collector, this is one book you shouldn't be without. The Black Book is a wealth of information in condensed form about each and every year since the Corvette first hit the market.
