5 comments about Art of the Bobber.
- This book has a ton of beauty shots of amazing bikes. The last reviewer was disappointed there weren't a lot of "old school" traditional bobbers, but that's not the point of the book really. There are a number of old school bobbers, a number of modern looking designs, but overall if you're a fan of awesome custom motorcycles, you'll dig this book.
- Not historically accurate. Items are in here that are not Bobbers. I would not recommend the book!
- An outstand book about custom V-twin bobber bikes. Incredible photos by top motorcycle photographers. For motorcycle affeciandos, this is a must-have book.
- Generally the photography is excellent, and covers a good cross section of Bobbers, from the real art of Cyril Huze and Indian Larry to unknows. The biggest downside is that the technical data sheets for each bike are inconsistant in the ammount of information provided, and some of the text is incorrect. It does however achieve its goal of being a companion book to Tom Zimberoffs "Art of the Chopper" and likewise should find a place on your coffee table as it did mine.
- Art of the Bobber
The book arrived quickly and I was delighted with it - a real 'coffee table' book, well produced with many great photos and details about early-style custom motorcycles - anyone who likes custom motorcycles will enjoy it.

1 comments about Chevrolet El Camino, 1959-82 Photofacts (Classic Motorbooks Photofacts).
- This book covered a lot of unknown facts that actual time accurate photos are able to review. For example, the 1967 tailgate emblem came on the car from the factory a certain way. A 1967 photo revieled exactly how it was released from the factory. Good Photos!!!

5 comments about Car Smarts: An Easy-to-Use Guide to Understanding Your Car and Communicating with Your Mechanic.
- Car smarts is good to understand the basic principles how a car works, but it touched too less in topics such as "How to check / repair by yourself" and "What tools you should buy". I read "auto repair for dummies" few years ago, it did better in this sense.
- Author has done an excellent job in covering the basic workings of a car. As the title states it's a guide to 'understanding your car' and NOT repairing your car. A basic understanding of how cars work is necessary before one wants to repair or maintain his/her car.
- This book is virtually identical, word-for-word and illustration-for-illustration, with "The Greaseless Guide to Car Care" by the same author. This is not stated anywhere, which leads me to conclude I should look elsewhere for consumer advice on cars.
Mary Jackson is within her rights as an author to update her book, change the title and the covers, etc., but she has a responsibility to inform her customers. She in fact withholds vital information about her product, a complaint often leveled at the auto repair industry.
The irony is that I bought these books to avoid being ripped off.
- I knew hardly anything about cars prior to reading this book and after reading it, I feel like I could at least discuss small things with my mechanic and actually understand what is going on. That's exactly what this book is far - a VERY basic, general understanding of how cars work and how they can be maintained; if you want information on repairs and do-it-yourself stuff, better go with Dummies.
- I loved this book as it delivered on what it promises - to instill a basic understanding of the various components of the car. I also came away with an appreciation for the bigger picture - how these components work together.
The book is very well written and I found the checklist of the things to do at the end of each chapter very helpful. I agree with another reviewer here that the troubleshooting map at the end of the chapters were not as useful (especially for someone who is a beginner). But make no mistake; this is a very good book (and a fun read) if you just want to understand the inner workings of your car as well as pick up basic tips to maintain your car. If you want to learn to repair your car (as a mechanic does), then you need a different book. As for me, I will use this book to have a more intelligent conversation with my mechanic!

2 comments about Haynes Honda Civic 1996-2000 & Acura Integra 1994-2000 (Haynes Automotive Manual).
- I have used the Haynes manuals before (for motorcyles) which have always been very good. This one for the car is not very accurate, though. For general information about overall maintenance it is worthwhile, but for the specific details in completing a repair it is sometimes grossly in error. I replaced the hood release cable, and 75% of their directions were wrong. Also, for replacing the coolant they fail to mention the drain plug on the engine (where about half of the coolant is stored) - they only mention the drain plug on the radiator. I know this because I also got the factory service manual on CD on the auction site. I would recommend getting both this book, for general maintenance info, and the factory service manual for specific procedures. Don't rely on this book alone, though, or you will be misguided.
- This book is good for general information but lacks details for more troubleshooting problems and also lacks detailed pictures and explanations. Being very experienced on electrical and mechanical repairs on aircrafts this book is much easier to read but I think it does not go into depth into how to properly repair things. For example it does not clearly explain how to adjust spark plugs (I had a mechanic friend explain that for me). Another problem with the book is that they sometimes use longer (and more difficult) steps instead of using logical steps. To remove a fuel filter you have to remove the backseats (for 1997 civic) and disconnect the fuel pump and then run the car until the engine is cut off before you can remove and replace the fuel filter. I found it easier just to bypass the fuse and it took just a fraction of the time to remove the fuel filter. Again, great book for reference but lacks details and it doesn't always use the most logical approach for repair and maintenance. Definitely not a book for beginners.

2 comments about How to Improve Triumph TR7, TR7-V8, TR8 (Speedpro).
- This book was exactly as explained in the editorial review. I recently acquired a Triumph TR8, and decided it would be interesting to find out how to get the most of my newest acquisition.
The book is full of helpful information about the car, but it is quite a bit more then I was expecting. Nevertheless, I am learning more then I need to know, but it is not likely that I will be doing some of the work myself.
The book will be added to my collection and will probalby serve to provide guidance, or will be a loaner for my friends that are more mechanically inclined. I am satisfied with the purchase.
- An excellent book if you choose to convert your TR7 to a V8 or up tune a TR8. Not enough content on upgrading the standard TR7 car and engine!

3 comments about Traveling With the VW Bus and Camper.
- This is a good general history of the VW Campervan. Released in the UK as Campervan Crazy (which is a much more accurate title). I would have hoped to see more on VW expiditions and actual camping but alas much of the book (over 70%) was focused on the hippie van culture. And the book is from a decidedly British point of view. On the up side there are some great pictures and anyone who grew up camping in a combi will bring back fond memories reading this book. For some reason Amazon is not shipping this book at this time but it is availible from the publisher.
- The same author has written the excellent VW Camper- The inside story. That book deals with specifications on the differnt campers, while his book are more about humans, culture and adventures.
This is a nice book, well written and good layout. I somehow think that it could have been more on travelling tips.
Nevertheless, a good buy!
- I didn't realize that this book is the same text and pictures as a previous book titled Campervan Crazy by the same author, David Eccles

- Bought this book to spruce up the ole Blazer, running better than ever now. Take a few dollars out of your wallet and buy this book.
- Only basic information, nothing about automatic transmition nor electronics (no ECM codes included), i was very dissapointed.

- As a hobbyist, I found the knowledge that was present in this text quite resourceful. Whether you are attempting to improve your current knowledge of an automobile's braking system, or learn it for the first time, this is a very valuable resource.
