  1. This was not as good has previous Chiltens Manuals I have purchased. It is however a great timesaver when I need to try to repair items such as the dash illumination.

  2. This book is generalized for several different makes of GM cars. Sometimes the car you are working on will be slightly different than the pics in the book. I use it as a general guide to determining if a repair job is feasible by myself or if I need assistance or a professional mechanic. For the $ it is worth picking it up.

  1. I found this book to be helpful in taking on small tasks such as doing your own brakes. In all, I would estimate this book saved me a few hundred dollars in repairs this year versus what I would have spent at the dealership or the local repair shop. (I was really upset when I found out how SIMPLE it is to replace disc brake pads) However, I would not use this manual for serious work, such as engine overhauls. In essence, this book is great for doing brakes, belts, spark plugs and minor troubleshooting. I would not depend on it for anything beyond such activities. Some of the chapters discuss engine overhauls and replacing struts. These are two pretty dangerous activities that the book sort of glazes over. They should have just left those things to the logic of "let somebody else seriously injure themselves doing this stuff".

It would have been nice for Haynes to include the Cadillac engine computer trouble codes, but you have to buy a seperate Haynes manual to get those.

2 comments about Chevrolet Impala SS and Caprice, Buick Roadmaster 1991-1996 (Haynes Manuals).
  1. Although the Chevrolet 9C1 Caprice is about as durable and long lasting as a car can be something will break sooner or later. One can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars by doing what repairs he can without taking the car to a shop. This manual will help anyone make such repairs. Even if you do not repair your own car it will help you to better comprehend and diagnose any problems you may encounter. That will save you money by knowing what is wrong before being deceived by a dishonest repair shop. For those that do repair their own vehicles this book explains in great detail and understandable terminology what to do and how to do it. The Haynes manual is much easier to read and understand than the Chiltons books. The only drawback the Caprice manual is that it does not go into complete detail on the differences between the civilian Caprices and the 9C1 Police package Caprice. That aside it is well worth the cost. I have saved well over $5000 in repair cost over the 350,000 miles I have traveled with this book in my library.

  2. This is not a repair manual, just a brief review of some of the components of the cars and even that is incomplete.

5 comments about The Lonely Girls Club.
  1. I must preface this review by saying that it's possible that the genre of romantic suspense isn't for me, but it's also possible that far fetched and improbable plots and characters aren't for me either. And as much as was intrigued by the blurb on the back of The Lonely Girls Club, I just can't recommend this book to other readers.

Three scholarship women who were students at the same boarding school 20 years ago are plunged into a whirlwind of emotions and actions when the man accused of killing their headmistress is released from prison. When new information is revealed which exonerates this man of the crime, these women are thrown back into a part of their lives they would rather forget. Now, though, all of their old history and the killing are once again front and center. And when the man these women and the courts thought was guilty is found dead, the victim of an apparent suicide, the women mount a campaign to find out what really happened to Ms.Rowe, this man and their friend Ivy. Along the way there are other attempted murders, deceit, contradictions and a would be love story between two of the characters.

While the first 100 pages had me glued the book became painful to read at the end and I skimmed the last 200 pages and couldn't wait for this to be over so I could read something else. I have no doubt that someday I may read a good book filled with romance and suspense, but for me it wasn't The Lonely Girls Club. I can suspsensd disbelief with the best of them but the storyline was just so improbable and poorly written that in the end I was sorry I wasted my time.

  2. I'm sorry, but none, not one of these characters were real. This book didn't even pass my 50 page rule. I gave up and tossed it.

  3. I really enjoyed this book. It kept me guessing and while a little far-fetched, it was a great escape. If I am looking for reality I would choose a non-fiction, but this book lived up to my expectations and made for good before bed reading.

  4. I just love the private school for girls setup of this book. I thought the characters were unique and unusual. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down.

  5. At the Rowe Academy for Girls in Tiburon, California, nothing is as it appears to be. The outside might look like a Victorian castle you would find in England, but on the inside, under the control of headmistress Millicent Rowe, the Academy is nothing more than hell for four young girls forced to do things that are truly abhorrent. For Ms. Rowe, the Academy is her life, and she'll do anything to make sure the school stays intact. That includes providing young girls for the wealthy men who have sexual tastes that differ from the norm.

Matilda "Mattie" Smith, Jane Mantle, Breeze Wheeler, and Ivy White were four troubled girls who were at the Academy for different reasons. Thrown together by the sick desires of Millicent Rowe, however, forced to "pay" their way through school by doing the bidding of Ms. Rowe and the men who paid her handsomely, the four girls formed the Lonely Girls Club. Brought together by their sad fates, not allowed to be normal teenagers, these girls had a bond stronger than that of sisters. Although totally different in their personalities, Mattie, Jane, Breeze, and Ivy were joined by their hatred and fear of Millicent Rowe, by their own guilty consciences, and by the terrible men who forced them to become women before they were ready.

The Lonely Girls Club ended, however, when Millicent Rowe was murdered by William "Billy" Broud-or so the girls thought. Twenty years have gone by, and Broud has been exonerated through DNA evidence, proving he wasn't the one who killed the Academy's headmistress. At the time of his arrest so long ago, he'd been trying to tell authorities about Ms. Rowe, about her sex-ring involving students, about conspiracies and cover-ups involving men of power. No one was inclined to listen then, when Billy had a prior record, drugs in his possession, and had the same blood type as that found at the scene of the crime. Now that he's released, the only one who is inclined to look back on that past, to follow a string of clues reaching back to the Rowe Academy for Girls and its headmistress, is Jameson Cross, a true crime writer, who just so happens to also have a heavy interest in proving Billy's innocence. The wrongly-convicted man wants no part of Cross and his book, however, and after a short stint outside prison walls, ends his life to avoid a past that just won't leave him alone.

Jameson Cross is obsessed with finding out who really murdered the headmistress of the Academy, and discovering who the Lonely Girls are. He knows that Ivy White is no longer alive, having committed suicide years ago, but what about the other mysterious members of the Club? As clues come to light, as he finds the three remaining women in positions of authority and prestige-one a judge, one a businesswoman, one the First Lady of the United States-Jameson realizes that finding out what happened so long ago is about more than just solving a crime. Because one of these girls-or even all of them-may very well have murdered someone. And even now, the Lonely Girls Club is gathering steam, trying to keep their secrets hidden and lock away the part of themselves that was abused so long ago.

Suzanne Forster has once again managed to write a suspenseful story of danger, intrigue, sex, lies, and murder that takes you into the world of the rich and powerful. The men and women associated with the Rowe Academy for Girls will do anything and everything to keep themselves from being exposed, up to and including murder. With an intense plot, strong characters, and the twists and turns of a true mystery, THE LONELY GIRLS CLUB is a book not to be missed.

  1. Author Jenna Leigh pens one hell of a good read in her novel, "Braless in the Buick." The characters are great, the plot has excellent twists and turns, and I laughed so hard that I had trouble turning the pages. This book has everything: romance, comedy, snarky wit, fabulous females, hunky males, and an ending you will just love.

Buy this book! Get one for your friends too. I will now add Jenna Leigh to my list of authors to watch - she is a fresh new voice in romantic comedy.

  2. From the moment I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down. I even read it twice the day I got it. Jenna Leigh brings a quirky and very real personality to her writing. At one point, I said, " Wow! That's actually happened to me." Her characters are very realistic, I feel as if I know them or at least know people like them. I laughed out loud and became mad on behalf of the heroine, Allie. When a writer can bring out those kinds of feelings in a reader, you know you've got a keeper. I will be eagerly awaiting her next book. She has moved quickly into my Top Ten List of Authors to Buy. Do yourself and buy the book, you won't regret it, and if you're male buy it as a gift for that lady you know, she'll thank you for it.

3 comments about Buick Muscle Cars (Muscle Car Color History).
  1. Buick Muscle Cars is a must have for the Buick 'Muscle Car' Enthusiast! and, actually for the Buick Enthusiast in general! From the first Buick Muscle cars like the Century, the Centurian, the Wildcat, and the Riviera...to the Gran Sport Stage 1 and GSX, the Turbo Regal Grand National and GNX...and even a few 'modern day' Buick muscle cars like the late 90's Supercharged Riviera...They are all in this book! Full color pictures and descriptions. There's even special sections on Buick Race Cars, Special Buick Engines, Proto-type Buicks, and Buick Concept Cars!

  2. While there is some good information in this book, I was expecting more photos, especially of the various Wildcat and Invicta models and the various engine options offered in those vehicles. For instance, not one mention is made of the fact that "445" on a Wildcat engine was not only used in other vehicles, it also stood for the amount of torque the engine put out (and was *not* the cubic-inch displacement). The word "complete" used to describe this book was something of a misnomer...I found some information quite lacking here. Also, the writer(s) seemed a bit befuddled at times, and there are a few instances of incorrect information that have crept into the book. It's also hard to take it seriously where one Buick model is spelled incorrectly throughout the entire book (it's "Centurion," not "Centurian"...plainly visible on the first Centurion photo in the book). In all, there was little, if anything, I didn't already know about Buicks, and I'm far from an expert. For the price, I didn't feel it was worth the money. This one's "almost there," but a small disappointment to a fan of older "big engine" Buicks like myself.

  3. Although known as a "professionals" car tied to a very uninspiring image, Buick has sometimes come out with fascinating and exciting automobiles that shocked many in the industry. Cars such as the GSX, Grand National and the GNX were just a few performance cars made by this "boring" make which created image envy in the industry. Saying all this however, "Buick Muscle Cars" unfortunately does not do justice to Buick's performance past for a few key reasons. Firstly, I found very little new and exciting information in this book. This book mainly focused on year-to-year engine and minor cosmetic changes made to the cars which easily could have been summed up in easy to read bullets instead of long drawn-out sentences. I expected a story telling me about the people involved, the changing industry and the trends of the time which inspired models such as the GSX. However, this book was written in a time vacuum with no discussion on what was going on in the industry at the time nor outside of it (except of course to briefly interject about how the government and insurance eradicated performance). There also seemed to have been a little too much focus on newer models which frankly, really didn't belong in this book as this was not a history of Buick but of Buick's performance cars (90's Skylark's and Regal's with non-supercharged V6's really have no place in a book aptly titled). Another issue was the quality of writing which I found to be poor. Although I do not wish to refer to a dictionary for every sentence, I had hoped that the authors would have refrained from using phrases such as "no way" and "could it get better than this" in a book such as this. On the positive, this book did discuss models such as the Wildcat and Centurion, two cars rarely mentioned in current literature, and many of the photos were of a high quality. Overall however, "Buick Muscle Cars" was a very disappointing book. The writing quality was poor, the information provided lacked any emotion and the book was written in a time vacuum never telling us why the GNX, GSX and other models came to be. I would recommend that you save your money on this one and hope a more comprehensive book on Buick Muscle Cars comes out soon as Buick rightfully deserves to have its performance history told in an exciting and informative manner (such as David Newhardt's excellent coverage of Mercury in "Mercury Muscle Cars", in the Muscle Color History Series).

2 comments about Bloodline.
  1. With the combined efforts of the U.S. government and Columbian authorities, ruthless drug lord Pablo Escobar was hunted down and killed. Fingerprint, dental records and DNA proved that the body was Escobar. Eleven years later, an account that only Escobar had access to has withdrawals. Columbian Mario Rastano and his son Javier, druglords masquerading as responsible businessmen, are notified of the withdrawals because much of the money belongs to them; they realize Escobar is alive and want the code to the account.

The Rastanos kidnap the wife and daughter of Pablo's cousin Eugene Estobar. If Eugene hopes to see them alive again, he must bring the code to Javier in one week. He wins the help of the DEA, the CIA and a U.S. senator, all who have reasons to want Pablo dead. However, one team member is a mole reporting every move the group makes to Pablo. Eugene uses his family connections to look for his cousin, hoping one of them will know where he is and help him.

BLOODLINE is an action-packed thriller which gives readers a feel for what it is like living in a country where the drug lords control so much. This work starts faster than a racing car in a straightaway and never slows down so that readers feel they are part of the action. Eugene is a loving and devoted husband and father who will do whatever it takes to get his family back. He is also intelligent enough to put a mole in the Rastano estate in the hopes that he can free his family if he fails to find Pablo. Jeff Buick is a writer with a great future ahead of him.

    Harriet Klausner

  2. Pablo Escobar was one of the biggest, most notorious, and violent drug
lords in the world. He reigned over the Columbian cocaine world with an
iron fist. Politicians and rivals who crossed him were killed by death squads. Pablo Escobar was believed to have been killed by Columbian army
and Delta Force soldiers. This idea was taken for fact for a number of years. A Swiss bank with a billion dollars(only Escobar has the account number)suddenly starts having large withdrawals. This activity is picked up by Mario and Javier Rastano. They decide to try to find Pablo Escobar
and get the account number. They kidnap the wife and daughter of Eugene
Escobar Pablo's cousin. Eugene is given two weeks to locate Pable and the account number or his family will be killed. The Rastanos were in the cocaine business with Pablo. Eugene seeks aid from the El Paso office of the DEA. This triggers a team of officers who had previously been in on the search for Pablo Escobar. Cathy Maxwell of the CIA,Alexander Landry of the DEA and Irwin Crandle a former DEA agent who is now a United States Senator. As they begin the search for Pablo it is discovered that
not all of them are honest. The trail for Pablo takes many unusual turns.
The question of Pablo's death is answered. This is a very entertaining book that has many twists and turns. Be sure to read this one.

  1. This book has been very informative as to keeping my 1987 Celebrity well-maintained. My car now has over 150,000 miles, and it is still running in great shape. The photos and the instructions are respectively very detailed and clear and simple to understand. I would reccommend this book to anyone who wished to get at least ten thousand more miles out of their car for little effort at keeping it maintained.

  2. We bought this in hopes of being able to fix the heater/defroster, but could not obtain enough information to do that. It is a good general guide, but don't expect detailed information.
