1. A great book full of interesting data about the Alpina production. History, units built, specs, everything is there. The only flaw is that it doesn't contain enough color pictures, just a few in the middle of the book. I wish it had lots of full color pictures. Besides that, the information is excellent and a great addition to the collection of any BMW fan.



2. This is a very detailed review of every Alpina model including their tuning kits for early cars. Basically there is a recitation of the detailed changes to each BMW model, some good photographs, and summaries of period tests in various magazines. I would recommend it for hardcore BMW or Alpina fans but I don't think its aimed at a casual reader. 4 stars for the data and facts, 3 stars for the dry presentation.



3. For those looking to buy this book because of photo's of old Alpina BMW's, skip this book. However, for those seeking tech info and history about Alpina, this book is good. 2002 owners, skip this book also. It's a book to have if you like to know more about Alpina up to the e36's models, but otherwise there's nothing more. There's no part numbers and production dates of the parts listed and little detail goes into the 2002 (only 3 pages).

1. Well produced, with excellent photos and graphics - particularly for US models. Doesn't cover twin-servo brake systems as fitted to some European 2002's - I have one of those! To be fair to the publishers, they do state that it is intended for US market cars. Very thorough and repetitive on workshop safety. Good value - a very big read and a good source book.



2. This is typical of a Chiltons. Very long on warnings concerning handling antifreeze and motor oils, then falls flat on it's face in the index department. I have not yet figured how to find anything in the index. And the comments driving you to seek help from a dealer are not what I bought the book for. I KNOW how to change oil and plugs, what I needed was help in troubleshooting a transmission problem. And there was no help there. To me, not worth the 17 bucks



3. This book has been extremely helpful with schedule and preventive maintenace and repairs done by the professionals, because it enabled me to purchase various parts myself wholesale or refurbished which made the service much, much cheaper. I'm still in search of a owner's manual though, for a 1987 BMW 735i



4. There are hardly any pictures of where exactly things are. Also the BMW 2002 single barrel carb is quite a different machine than the BMW M6. Unfortunately the "manual" attempts to cover all models at the same time.
   
   They would have done more of a service if they had made more detailed manuals on each series. My 1969 BMW 2002 Owner's Handbook (with US suppliment) is more detailed than this "manual".
   
   Don't buy this.



5. How the hell would I know I still haven`t recieved it yet,any ideas on when hmmmm!

1. The manual contains concise, step-by-step instructions on how to perform scheduled maintanance as well as indepth information on everything from engine teardown to clutch replacement. The primary thing lacking is better subject, chapter indexing. It would be great if the repair items referenced in the maintanance schedule had a page or chapter reference to go directly to. This would save alot of time.
