4 comments about BMW Z4: Design, Development and Production--How BMW Creates the Ultimate Driving Machines.
- If you are fan of this car you won't be disappointed. Gives you a lot of small bits of knowledge about the development phase of the car. Explains the technologies much better than I have ever seen anywhere else.
- I am a proud Owner of one BMW Z4 SMG 2.5 2005, and this book is an obligated reference, uses a technical narrative, howerver, clear enough to understand even for my wive (now she understand the cost rationale)
- I've just bought a Z4 and I love that car. It was my dream car for years... I was looking for a book telling the entire story of that marvellous car. This is almost perfect. What is missing is just a couple of photos of the latest 2006 restyling and related facts and figures.
I'm waiting for the new release of the book ;-)
- I love the background on design of the Z4 and the pictures used to support the text are wonderful. This book was written just before or after the premier of the Z4 in 2003, so it's somewhat dated. No info at all on the changes to made to the Z4 after 2005 or the MZ. It's not a repair manual but has good info on what you can expect for performance of the car and it's major systems. I would buy the book again.

4 comments about BMW 2002: A Comprehensive Guide to the Classic Sporting Saloon (BMW).
- The book was authoritive in its portrayal of the 2002's history and gave very good advice in what to look for in purchacing one. In my opinion too much of the book was spent covering extremely rare 2002s and ones that were not imported to the US. I would have rather seen more detail on the more common US models and more detail pictures of what the original (US) equipment was like. Some of the pictures and English terminology were not very clear to me. If you're interested in buying a 2002 it is a good book to have, but you may want to supplement it with others.
- I'm looking to buy a 2002 and found some help in reading this book. Nevertheless, there is a lot of detail here that may be of some interest to enthusiasts, but was a little more than a novice like myself needs to know. Utlimately, the book is what it promises to be, "a comprehensive guide".
- Hi all,
I would like to give a word of advise for this book, as it is a great book! Never understood the differences quite well between the different 02`s. After reading only the first chapter everything was clear to me! I self working on a restoration and I do think that this books contributes in a very good way to a make a full and original 02 again! Thanks, Pascal.
- I just finished this book and I am very pleased with it. I purchased this book from Amazon hoping to learn the history, year by year details, availibility, and possible modifications of the BMW 2002. My expectations were exceeded. The well divided chapters do a good job of explaining the details in plain English with a good number of pictures and illustrations. Just remember that "wings" actually means fender or quarter panel in the author's dialect. There is a good section on how to properly approach a restoration project with plenty of pictures.
This is a great book for a novice or BMW enthusiast. I plan to purchase 2002 and this book gave the information I needed to make an educated decision.

5 comments about Driven: Inside BMW, the Most Admired Car Company in the World.
- As an auto industry follower, I can appreciate this book as a sort of historical reference for someone perhaps doing research. But as enjoyable reading, it falls far short. The book goes into a painfully detailed history of company events. In fact, I felt the title was a bit misleading, since it made me expect some interpretation as to why BMW is as admired as it is. Instead you basically get a chronology of events.

- 300 pages of BMW. It should be ultimate bliss for any car enthusiast. But it turns out to be a bit of a drag, like a car stuck in third gear, promises that it has the power to go, but just cannot deliver the power.
The book is a fairly good history of how an aircraft manufacturing company with known prowess in making aircraft engines, went almost defunct during the WWII and than came back to first be seen as a serious car maker, than as a car brand that could compete with the famed Merc and than went on to overtake the Merc is global sweepstakes. And its subsequent buyout of Rolls, Mini and Rover too is well detailed out. And while the famed Bavarian company was able to turn on the magic for Rolls and Mini, its travails and failure to make good Rover too are well captured.
The book is divided in eight ultimate chapters. The Ultimate Cars, The Ultimate History, The Ultimate Family, The Ultimate Brand, The ultimate Stylists, The Ultimate Blunder, The Ultimate brand Expansion, and the Ultimate Hydrogen Future.
David had had ultimate access to the BMW executives and archives. This access comes through in almost every page in the book. The book goes into a painfully detailed history of company events. And instead of giving insights into what makes BMW a marvel of automobile engineering, we get a chronology of events.
Unfortunately David Kiley, is no Jeremy Clarkeson and Driven is not like "Born to be Riled". The book is too much of PR plug, with author seeing only side of the picture. But do read the book to know how fickle minded advertising pitch decisions are, and what led to the memorable BMW films campaign.
The book has its moments, but its few and far in between.
There may be no boring BMW, but there is a boring BMW book.
- "Driven" is an engaging read and offers a good historical overview...or case study...of a well-known company and brand. The market for automobile manufacturers is difficult and volatile...so much so that BMW has recently touted its independence as a company as a factor that enables it to create and build its world-class and distinct vehicles.
This book chronicles the evolution and growth of BMW as a company in an interesting manner by focusing on both BMW's products and the people behind the company, in terms of both the management team and the owners.
For those who might be familiar with MBA-level case studies, this book offers a read akin to an extended and lively case study of a company and a brand. David Kiley, the author, delves into the personalities behind BMW and covers the importance of BMW as a brand in a readable manner.
- Well, English is my second language.
May be that is the reason. But I must tell you, I couldn't pass the first 10 pages.
Its like chewing a gum in your sleep.

5 comments about BMW 7 Series (E32) Service Manual: 1988-1994.
- With all research Bentley does to make a wonderful repair manual, why couldn't they put the right car on the cover? The car on the cover is a 7 from 1997-2003.
- This is the bible for maintenance and repair on the 7 Series E32 BMW.
If you own one of these vehicles, and you plan on doing ANY maintenance yourself, you NEED this book.
Easy-to-understand procedures, and plenty of pictures and illustrations, will help keep you from making expensive mistakes.
- I think the Authors are trying to cram to many engine types into 1 book. The majority of the info simply refers you back and forth to different sections. None of which help you much when it comes to actual troubleshooting. The book doesn't take into consideration the various parameters you might encounter as a vehicle ages,or even list possible causes if a component is outside the listed values. A Haynes book costs about a third as much and is just as informative.
- This book is the Bible of the BMW 7 Series. It tells you everything you want to know.Dont waste youre money on cd manuals, they only give you bits and peaces. This manual gives you all the mechanical know how and also gives you a complete wiring diagram of all the electronic components. The price is around £40 but it is the best £40 ive ever spent.
- I purchased the book for my 20yr old college son,he has a 92 BMW 740iL, it was running really ruff... He was so excited to be able to read and understand the basicness of the book explaining he needed to change the spark plugs and the air cleaner to make the car run alot better. Besides saving tons of car repair costs, he now is going to tackle the brakes, everyone needs this book.

5 comments about BMW E30 - 3 Series Restoration Bible (Brooklands Books).
- This book has proven to be an excellent resource for facts and information on the E30 3 series. The detail is exquisite. It has proven indespensible during the build up of my first BMW. If you are interested in the vintage three, you need this book. Although written by a Brit, the U.S. cars are represented well.
- I found this book very informative. I have an E30 M3 and often reference items in the book.
- I live in Sri Lanka. I bought this book from Amazon. I learned many technical information from this book. This is very good referance book for E30 owners. It has explained good and bad things about E30 cars. I think all the BMW E30 owners should have this book.
- Breat book with many tips and tricks you will not find anywhere else. If you are restoring one of these, it will pay for itself times over again. Only caveat: it was written by a british author and therefore refers to the GB models and therefore is somewhat overloaded with info about models that were never sold here. It also misses some US model info, e.g. 4:10 rear axle ratio that was used here for 325ia cars.
- Has more than a few tidbits to help out with your older BMW. Has too many models to cover to make it a must have. You can read what is useful to your model in an afternoon. Hit your local library first.
