5 comments about BMW 3 Series (E46) Service Manual: 1999-2005.
- Excellent book. I ordered this book because there is no equivalent book for my Z-4. This book covers the same engine, which is what I needed.
- I was looking for a more descriptive book on my '03 330i. Although it is very thorough, it appears to try to appeal to many users of many vehicle types in the 3 series family. I expected a bit more user friendly steps. You really need to know what you're into here. My opinion, if you need this book, you probably need professional car repair help.
- I recently bought this book as a reference guide for my 2000 BMW 328Ci. In the past few years I have migrated toward maintaining my own car rather than paying high fees for work of varying quality at the dealership.
I have benefited greatly by using the internet as a reference for DIY projects such as oil changes, brake pad replacement, and brake bleeding etc. In my opinion this manual is excellent for providing additional procedural detail, pictures, guides and practices that are not available elsewhere.
I also have a service manual for my Honda Pilot. Of the two, I feel the BMW Service Manual is better written.
- I own multiple BMWs so I own multiple Bentley manuals to cover them. The updated E46 3 series manual is my most recent acquisition since my newest BMW is a 2004 330xi. The Bentley manuals cover more detail than most of their competitors, have good clear pictures, note the variations from year to year in the production run, and are well produced on good paper stock (or on CD media in some cases). If you maintain your own car and want to be able to do more than the most basic things, this is a must have. Even if you just want to understand how things fit together, it's a good resource.
- This is a very complete and comprehensive servicemanual for anyone who doesn't really know much about the technology underneath the hood (or anywhere else in the car for that matter). If you know what exactly is wrong with your car, bets are this manual will help you fix it.

5 comments about So Long, See You Tomorrow.
- Somewhat dull and unsatisfying, like some other "literary" works I've read which don't hole my interest, don't resolve problems, swimming endlessly in the inner thoughts of a person with no action or only references to previous actions. I enjoyed his 'They Came Like Swallows' because it was very satisfying, but this is too "literary" for me in the sense that it appears to be more about the writer's writing ability than the actual story.
- William Maxwell, in So Long, See You Tomorrow, performs one of the prime directives of literature, reconstructing a lost world. And Maxwell is patient and rigorous. We get the feeling, when reading this novel, that Maxwell is writing his work more to assuage his sense of loss than to inform or entertain us. This gives this novel almost the feel of a diary or memoir not meant for public review, or to be kept in a drawer until after the death of the novelist. And then pain of the loss is there, exposed, without mitigation; the young narrator walking with his hand around the hip of his father, who is pacing around the parlor in grief over his dead wife. The middle age narrator emerging from his psychiatrist's office overflowing with tears at the memory, secure in his knowledge that he can cry on a street in New York City with the greatest of anonymity. These are emotions men and women never surmount. This is raw stuff, but presented with the deft artistry, with the most patient care, and all in 135 pages.
- Like another reviewer that gave the same rating, I believe that this novel does start out with a bang. After we learn about the shooting at the beginning of the novel, the story drops off though. This book is partly fiction, and partly memoir, so surely there must be something interesting about it?! There is hardly any dialogue, and the rest of the novel just seems to drag as any action is few and far between.
Granted, i know that this is partly a memoir, but i felt it was strange when the author would tell about memories he had, only to explain shortly after that they are completely wrong because of court records or newspaper clippings.
Another thing about the novel that i didn't like was how the author phrased his sentences. I found myself reading, and re-reading little sections of the book because he either worded the phrase ambiguously or it just sounded very strange. At first i thought that Maxwell must have been a new author, or perhaps if he wasn't then it may have been one of his first novels, but that wasn't the case. Instead, i was shocked to find out that Maxwell was actually a well known innovator in fiction; even working for a magazine as an editor in fiction for 40 years.
One last thing that influenced my decision was the main character/narrator's disposition. I could not identify with him at all, no matter how hard i tried. I could not relate to him, his circumstances, even his personality. He seems weak, unable or unwilling to change anything even for his own good, and is so passive that i cringed every time he was describing another boring detail about something that didn't really advance the plot.
I would give this novel one star, but its potential saved it from being a complete and utter failure.
- It would be wrong to use a lot of words to praise this book. There isn't a single unnecessary sentence between its covers.
My only caveat? If The Kite Runner is your idea of a great novel, you might want to skip this one.
- This brief story, set in the 1920s in central Illinois, is the fictional memoir of a man trying to make amends for his behavior towards a childhood friend named Cletus Smith fifty years after the fact. Cletus' father, Clarence, was the suspect in the murder of a tenant farmer in a small town where the boys lived during their teens. He begins with details of his childhood; the series of tragedies that struck his family, especially the death of his mother during the flu epidemic of 1918. He was only ten years old. Three years later, his father remarries and moves the family to Illinois, which is where he meets and befriends Cletus. The memoirist provides an overview of the facts of the crime. He then reveals his actions towards Cletus during an unexpected encounter in high school, this being the thing for which he must make amends. Based on what actually transpired, it seems like he's being a little hard on himself. From that point to the final chapter, he reconstructs the events surrounding the murder in detail, especially the relationship between Lloyd Wilson, his neighbor and suspected killer, Clarence Smith, and Smith's wife. In the final chapter, he reminisces about return trips to his hometown, usually taken to attend a funeral, and his feelings of guilt about his treatment of Cletus.
So Long, See You Tomorrow, unique, believable and well-written, is similar to (but better than) Montana 1948 by Larry Watson. Also good: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

5 comments about John Rosemond's New Parent Power!.
- I bought this book for one of my children who just had a child...I hope they use it as I think Rosemond is spot on!!! He has such common sense advice and if used you will have responsible and well liked children who will turn into responsible well liked adults!!
- Read the original Parent Power a dozen years ago to give me a leg up on my two kids now 16 and 19. You have the power! Not for the faint-of-heart or 'helicopter parents'. Bought the new version for my wife to help her become better at mnaging our two new ones age 4 and 6. Second time around and loving it!
If you read and used the book 'On Becoming Baby Wise' this book is for you!
- Call me ignorant and sheltered but I had not heard of John Rosemond until my oldest was 4 1/2 years old. I wish I had had this book when she was going through the terrible twos. Anyway, I think it is the best parenting book out there. I recommend it to all of my friends.
Since reading this book I have become much more strict with my children. The result is that my kids and I enjoy each other so much more. I no longer yell or nag. I am calm and in control. I outline the rules to my children and when they break them there are consequences. Since I consistently follow through with the consequences the rules are rarely broken. There is peace in our house and much fewer tantrums from children and adults alike. Thanks a million Mr. Rosemond!
Just one aside regarding baby care, I think that "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" by Tracy Hogg is far better and more conprehensive for information regarding the first year of life!
- This book was recommended by a friend because I was having some trouble with my 6 year old basically taking over my world. This book made me realize that I was running a "child-centered" home and that my child was NOT attention-defecit, but an attention addict!! Now, it is helping me formulate a better routine with my 2 year old, and is also teaching me how to manage my life and marriage and how the children fit into it, rather than how I fit into my children's lives.
- I have tried John's suggestions with my 4 1/2 year old daughter and they work. I like how I can reference topics from the back of the book and find a solution to a problem easily. John's writing is easy to read and he is very funny, too.

5 comments about Straight Talking: A Novel.
- it's a great book and for me the best of jane green. the story was awesome she really suits in some ways so i really like btw this book this my all time second fave book
- I totally agree with the reviews by Sebastian and Berthap. I have read other, much earlier Jane Green novels before and quite enjoyed them for what they are (enjoyable "chick lit" about love and friendship etc). This one was dreadful though. I had expected it to change perspectives between the different characters but it is all told from the point of view of one very unlikeable vain, superficial character. She is the type of woman I would want to shake (or avoid like the plague) if I met her in real life. I also thought the writing was very lazy, ie, repetitive, contradictory, full of cliches etc etc. I think that after this and Jemima J (which I didn't mind but certainly didn't like as much as other Jane Green books)I will be staying well clear of this writer.
My recommendation for potential buyers - don't buy this book, check out writers Sheila O'Flanagan or Elizabeth Noble instead.
- I just finished reading this book, and I have to tell you that I loved it!!
It wasn't Jane Green's best book that I have read, but I really enjoyed it!
For every woman in her 20s and 30s that has looked for love or wondered, if it'll ever happen to her, this book is for you..
It is VERY honest, direct, holds nothing back, real to our time..
It made me laugh really hard but it made me cry as well..you will love Tasha and most likely identify with her.
I couldn't put this book down!!
- Straight Talking wasn't the first novel of Greens that I started on. I read Jemima J and Bookends first. I think that might have affected how I reacted to this novel. It isn't the same style. It's not as light and "chick-lit" as her other novels. The main character actually had me routing for her to lose. I don't think this is Green's best novel but that being said it is still a well-written novel. Jane Green is still an excellent author.
- I just finished this book and loved it. It was so good I couldn't put it down and than ordered it for my girlfriend. Great chick-lit read. A mix between Bridgette Jones and Sex in the City.

5 comments about The Tao of Pooh.
- I had to read this book for a class. I was suprised by how interesting it was. Hoff uses fictional characters to define the Tao religion. If you are looking for insight on other religions, I suggest this book.
- This was a good quick read. Very peaceful, entertaining, and it kept me reading until the end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interersted in eastern religion.
- People. It is a beautiful spring day today. The sun is shining, a warm breeze is caressing, the clouds are puffy cotton, the squirrels are scurrying and the birds are chirping. (Which is o.k. as long as they don't fly overhead!). Your Metamorpho decided to take his pen and pad to the ol' babbling brook to get into the reflective mood to write this next review. I sat down against an old oak tree and started to write. However, it was so peaceful I started to doze off. In the middle of envisioning Sondra the Seerest doing her latest belly dance, I felt a furry hand tugging at my white linen cuff.
"Wake up Mr. Metamorpho, wake up!" a voice said. I blinked my eyes open to find Pooh there, face full of honey.
"Oh it's you Pooh," I said with surprise. "Funny you should be here. I was just going to write about you."
"You were?" he said with eyes wide open. "Why?"
"Well, because I'm here writing a review of Benjamin Hoff's book called 'The Tao of Pooh', which is about you."
"It is?" he asked. "Wow!"
"No, Tao Pooh", I corrected.
"What is Tao Mr. Metamorpho?" he asked with a puzzled look.
"Well, I think it is one of the great teachings of China. A philosopy of sorts. Mr. Hoff equates this with how you are. An uncarved block, as he puts it."
"He thinks I'm a blockhead?" Pooh said, as a lone tear started to form.
"No no Pooh. Even though you are a bear of simple brain, Mr. Hoff explains that you are not stupid, but representative of the simplicity one needs to lead a calm and natural life. Go with the flow, if you will."
"That sounds better," he smiled.
"Sure does. The concept of Tao is very interesting, but, essentially the belief is that there is constant evolution in the world. In other words, there is a natural balance in nature and the universe. It is the concept that total harmony will be achieved by letting things be, to run their own course, if you will."
"I ran a course once, along with Kanga and Roo," he said smiling.
"Well, it's not exactly like that," I said. "You see Pooh, he believes in yin and yang. Two energies that, although opposite, are complimentary and needed for harmony. This applies to many facets of life."
"Maybe I should ask owl," he said.
"Well, you could," I said. "But he makes a distinction here between knowledge and true wisdom. The answers don't lie in a book per se, they just are, within yourself, if you are aware of the interconnectivity of all things in the universe."
"You mean I am?" he said with surprise.
"Mr. Hoff seems to thinks so. And I wouldn't apply this to any of your friends. Rabbit never slows himself down long enough to recognize the simple pleasures of life," I said. "Eeyore, well, you know Eeyore, he brays over things he can't control. And Piglet, although very small, is uncertain and afraid to take action."
"I'm hungry. Do you have a jar of honey with you?" he asked.
"No, but I have this," and I handed him a honey graham cracker. "There is much more to this philosophy, but the main thing is that the only constant in the universe is change. If you war against it you will only produce unnatural and artificial results, which could produce much unhappiness because it goes against the natural rythmn and flow of life."
"I don't think I am unhappy Mr. Metamorpho," he said.
"No Pooh, you aren't," I smiled. "You are a living, breathing, stuffed example of Tao."
"Well, Mr. Metamorpho, I'm not stuffed yet. No honey, huh?"
"No, Pooh. But, I have no doubt that you will find it. Tao provides beary nice things for those who follow the path."
"Thanks Mr. Metamorpho. Speaking of path, I should go find Christopher Robin. He should be home about now," he said and then sauntered off.
And people, if you have read this so far, you will know I will take full advantage of the deus ex machina (a popular method in Greece) to tell you that when I woke up, I remembered this meeting word for word, and wrote it here for your amazement. Now, let me get back to my daydream of Sondra. It was a very pleasurable experience, but I wished she would stop fluttering those stupid silk scarfs in my face. The things one puts up with for love. I tell ya.
For the child in all of us -- Metamorpho
- When I first heard about this book, I thought the guy who told me about it was being funny. He said that a book on Taoism, explained via Winnie the Pooh had changed his life. I laughed, but decided to get it anyways.
This book turned out to be way better than I had imagined. In a way it seems contrary to common sense, but in all the best ways. It challenged me to re-think how I thought of myself and life.
The more I read about Taoism, the more impressed I get with anyone who is able to explain it in an intelligible form. Benjamin Hoff did an amazing job, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone. So much so that I have already bought 3 books for family and friends already.
The best description I have seen of Taosim so far, and all with a cuddly little teddy bear... Um... A manly cuddly little teddy bear *caugh*
- Recommended for everyone, a lighthearted look at the Tao and a simpler way of living through the eyes of my favorite bear. My husband lives the Tao of Pooh. If you're having trouble understanding the Tao, or having a hard time relating to that duck that seems to let the world roll off his back, this book puts everything into perspective. There's no denying the fun in this book; the beautiful, flowing, clear writing style is classic A.A. Milne Pooh, and demonstrates what a perfect example this bear is for the concepts of the Tao.

5 comments about Multiple Streams of Income: How to Generate a Lifetime of Unlimited Wealth! Second Edition.
- I first learned of the term Multiple Stream Of Income from Robert Allen the No Money Down guy. He pretty much coined the phrase all the way to the bank. I read his book a few years ago, it was the number one best seller on The New York Times Best Seller's list. I was so thrilled to get my hands on it I just knew that this was the long awaited manuscript that we marketers wanted to give it a test drive.
It was a good read, however it had too many twist and turns and it cost a bit much at the time to implement his methods from just one website, and it was not the results I was looking for. I knew there had to be a better way for us new marketers to reach that illusive extra income stream.
I begin to wonder, can you actually make multiple streams of income online? I continued my search for the missing pieces of the MSI puzzle that would put it altogether; With the many product offers that promises you the world if you would try this program, and use it with this technique, and you'll surely be on your way to riches.
After several years of online seeking, I can now say I've been to the mountain top of internet marketing offers, and what I have come down with is this; there are many claims being made about multiple streams of income online that you can use right now in your marketing campaign to a steady flow of extra income. I found this unique website with multiple streams of income you can get from Google, Ebay, Clickbank, CJ; etc. All from one cool little website. I have studied the likes of Tim Knoxs, Brad Callen, Mike Falsaime; etc, and a host of other top online experts in this field of multiple streams of income and their proven systems, and what I have found will surprise you.
Don believes that less than 5% of the marketers are making it online, and 95% of the programs online are a waste of money. There are no more secrets, just the facts. If you are focus you'll learn one of many proven marketing tools I'll show you to help you along your way to build Multiple Streams Of Income Online the correct way.[...]
- Robert Allen hits the nail on the head here. I have 14 different streams of income in my business and it's the single reason for my continued success over 13 multi-million dollar years. Highly recommended!
- This book is EXCELLENT! Very easy read with good clear explanations of ways to make money and make money work for you. It will change your perspective on finacial security.
- This book sky rocketed my career and my investment
IQ. It is well written, entertaining, as well as informative. It is one of the best books I've read on business.
J. Wilson
LI, New York
- This books talks about multiple ways to earn income, ultimately leading to the goal of financial freedom. Having multiple streams of income is smart because it's risky to rely on one source when it could be taken away from you at any time, leaving you in the dust. Not only does the author talk about multiple streams, but if you are an employee, he talks about bringing value to your position. Keeping track of your finances and making every dollar count is also discussed. The idea is to create lifelong streams of income. The author also suggests to add at least one new income stream a year. What fantastic advice, which will ultimately lead to financial freedom. Wonderful book!!

5 comments about Good Dog. Stay..
- Loved this book - sounded just like what we went through with our yellow lab. Quick read - heartwarming.
- I think she is such a wonderful author and love her books. This was yet another treasure.
- I bought this book for my husband as part of the grieving process after our 14-year-old black lab died. I expected Anna Quindlen's usual wisdom and frankly I was disappointed. The text was very short; not enough in quantity or quality to justify a book in my opinion. Worse, every page featured those awful cutesy stockhouse dog photos that seem the antithesis of the honest and straight style I expected based on reading her wise columns in the NY Times for many years. The book came across as a celebrity milking something very thin for some extra cash. Come on, Anna, you can do a lot better than this!
- This is a 45 minute short story about Anna's dog, Beau. I am not a fan of animal stories as they usually either end up getting hurt or dying. The same is true in this one. It is the life story of Beau and as all life stories, the end is death. That brings tears to me which is why I don't like these types of stories.
I believe Anna wrote this as a way to heal from her lost of Beau more than trying to tell a readable story. This is not to say the story doesn't make sense. It does. I just hear in Anna's own words how much she and her family cared for Beau and how much his loss meant to them.
As with all stories, there are the good times and the "bad dog" times, laughs and tears and general day-to-day life. If you want to hear about a good dog's life, this CD will provide that.
- Short and oh so sweet!
Yes this is more of an essay than a full blown novel, but the writing is worth every dime. There are so many phrases in the book that I read and re-read. Spend the money and keep this book for revisiting over and over.

5 comments about Praying God's Word Day by Day.
- I enjoyed the book very much. There are features that can be used daily.
I'm so glad I found an almost new condition copy on Amazon.
- This little devotional is a wonderful little book. It is dated of course by the day. So you can use it year after year. The mighty wisdom of Beth Moore is such in inspiration to keep you close to God. I admit some days I don't get my devotional in, but its easy to catch up on or pick up where the next day begins. Love it!!!!!!!
- The book is very thoughtful and stimulating. Helps one to actually think about Christ, your moment by moment gift of life, and most of all, to be thankful and humble, if you read the words with your true heart.
- Beth Moore's inspirational words and accompanying scripture "raise me up" on a daily basis. I don't know how she does it, but her writings always seem to hit me where I live. Excellent daily devotinal!
- I enjoy being able to carry this in my purse. I use it several times a week. There are some very good applications in the book.
If you're looking for another book "like this one", I recommend DEAR JESUS. It's even better than this one and is the same small size for your purse or desk.

5 comments about Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul.
- This was the first of twenty + Seth books. Intended to offer a taste of future Seth material, this manuscript certainly whet my appetite to know more. While the Seth information was channeled forty years ago, I consider Seth to be the father of the new age and self-help movement. Far from some pat or compassionless oversimplification of how we create reality, Seth leads the reader, with clarity and humor, into the incredibly complex world of the soul. This book demonstrates how we are all ultimately connected with each other, God. The authenticity of the material is indisputable making this (as well as all Seth books) an essential read for any sincere seeker.
- If you enjoyed THE SECRET this book by Jane Roberts pre-dates THE SECRET by over 30 years. And if you enjoy this SETH book, then you should buy SETH MATERIAL, THE NATURE OF PERSONAL REALITY , THE NATURE OF MASS CONSCIOUSNESS and Jane Roberts many other books . She channelled the entity SETH and believe me, these books will awaken you to the knowledge that we all CREATE OUR OWN REALITY.
- Almost finished reading it. This is the first Seth book I have read
since I decided to start leading a more spiritual life.
- This is the first in the Seth series of dictated books. It is very comprehensive. Information that is not given the same way in other metaphysical disciplines. Each book in the series builds on what was given previously.
- This is a comment on Seth Speaks, not a book review. Although I am a writer I am not trained nor practiced as a book reviewer.
First, Seth has nothing to do with Christianity or religion. Essentially it is channeled material equal to any other channeled material the source of which is unknown. Mozart channeled all of this music and some scholars of Shakespeare who are also grounded in metaphysics believe that his works from the great plays to the sonnets much have been channeled. The author Taylor Caldwell stated several times that her book, "Dear and Glorious Physician" had been channeled. Reading it one could guess that it was so because of the amazing periodic description. All of Edgar Cayce's readings while in trance were channeled and with the overwhelming number of readings not only proving to be accurate but helped heal some terrible diseases in people from all walks of life including the blindness of his son Hugh Lynn.
True channeled material can often be termed as irrefutable for its special nature. Secondly, Seth Speaks is not "New Age." The term is now used in general for what was once The Occult is a faint nomenclature invented by some happy editor somewhere. There is also nothing "new" about the material in Seth Speaks except that it has been couched in modern, scientific or near scientific vernacular.
The book, which I read in 1973, presents in some detail what is none other than the I Am concept that predates Moses (in Exodus where it is also presented) and can be found in the timeless Vedas which are the heart of Hinduism and thousands of years old, so old no one has yet placed a date on them. There, we find great Mahabharata, the Ramayana, the Sutras, and the Puranas.
The fact that the I Am is central to Seth Speaks is thereby posited as truth. If one wishes to call it religion, one can do so. Seth, the speaker, channeled by Jane Roberts chose rather to use scientific idiom as opposed to religious, Bible-speak or for example, the English used in A Course in Miracles (also the I Am) that is similar to The King James version of the Bible.
All that said this is a good read for anyone interested in existence. It is not so much for the uncanny revelations about existence as a life and behavioral altering work about an old concept that is also truth, a truth that was in need of a brushing off to modern technical English. The central message, "You create your own reality" is of course also not new since it is implicit in the I Am. However, those believing that this is a simple truth are wrong. It is complex and only through years of study beyond the presentation given by Seth can it be fully understood and perhaps put to use on the conscious level.

5 comments about The Art of Raising a Puppy.
- Having owned many dogs in my life, it seems very clear that there is no one right method of making the dog a vital and beloved member of the household. German Shepherds, the breed that the monks work with, are eminently trainable as are a few other breeds. Some are very resistant to training or, at a minimum, require very different approaches. Perhaps the best advice one can give on training is to observe a friend's dog who you think is particularly well-mannered. See how that friend relates to the dog and ask what he or she did when the dog was a pup. Some well-behaved dogs are born and not made. Lucky you if you happen to get one of these; but the connection between man and dog goes back milennia and it is an interesting and complex relationship
- If you're getting a dog or have a dog read this book. It is a great resource for getting your dog in line. It proved to be a source of information that offered balance to the modern training methods that are based only in rewards.
I prefer the positive motivation but there are times when this book has offered ways to correct bad behavior that 'treats' don't help with.
If for no other reason you should read this book to gain insight into dog behavior. These folks have been doing this for a long time and can help humans see their role in a companion animal's life. i.e. that dog's want and need a strong 'alpha' owner - even if it isn't in your personality type (I had to adjust - but it was for the better)
- I love training dogs and learning more about their nature and behavior. This book was extremely helpful, and it answered many of the questions I had about a dog's normal development and milestones. The Monks reinforce what I've discovered about my own dogs, which is that it is never too early to start training and that puppies are capable of becoming charming companions from a very young age.
If you are thinking of getting a puppy, read this book first.
- if all people read this book prior to adopting (purchasing) a puppy the pet control situation would be helped ten fold every year until eternity. this book not only guides those who have a puppy but shows how to chose a puppy for a particular lifestyle.
- I brought home an 8 week old shih tzu and used the recommendation to tether him in my room and provide a blanket for him to sleep on. After only 3 nights he was sleeping all night long and when he needs to go out in the morning he barks once. It is amazing how well this worked.
