5 comments about Sony Cybershot DSCP100 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
- I bought the Sony Cybershot DSCP100 5.1 MP Camera after much researching on the internet about digital cameras because it was my first one.
I like the size and shape of the camera. It can easily fit in a small purse or pocket, which is nice for the price.
However the pictures turn out blurry unless in bright sunlight or with a flash, where I was previously not used to using one.
I also took this camera on a long backpacking trip into the Grand Canyon and it must have gotten bumped, though i don't remember doing such, because now the zoom occassionally has issue coming in and out.
Also I did not find the shutter lag to be very quick.
- Reasons to get this camera:
-- It is durable (it has a metal frame)
-- It should last a long time
-- It has a good resolution
-- The MPEG Videos are not limited to a particular length
-- The videos record sound
-- It focuses automatically (easy to use)
-- Uploading photos is quick (no tedious software like with Kodak)
I gave it five stars because it was nearly perfect. The one flaw (at least with my camera) is that sometimes the screws fall out. Fortunately, it is not a serious problem because you can tighten the loose screws, and easily order more from Sony if you lose any of them.
- I love this camera, I've had it for almost 3 years and haven't had a problem yet. I still have the original battery in it and it still charges great. It's a perfect camera for first-time digital users because while it does have a lot of different settings, its easy to figure out and they dont get in the way. It also has given me a basic understanding of other camera's, I use my friends camera's and can usually figure out how to use them. It's easy to take wherever because it fits easily into a purse or pocket. I love this camera, it was definitely a great buy.
- The Sony dscp100 is such an appealing camera - small, easy to operate - that my shutterbug wife ordered a second one.
The reason to order a second one: little black dots began appearing in both viewfinder and photos - in compositions that had a light background such as a sky. So she found a new old-stock model - both have the Zeiss lens - and was happy for a few weeks. Now the second one has the dots. They resemble human eye floaters. Yes; we're sending the seond one back for warranty work.
- Our job requires us to take photos almost everyday, so we have tried and worked with many digital cameras in the past years. We bought the DSCP100 like a year ago, and we have been more than pleased with it. The size of the camera is great, the quality of the body is amazing. Battery life is great too. It takes very good pictures, and starts working immediately, so you will not loose that special scene.... Because all of the above, we simply can't stop using the little DSCP100. Sony got it right with this camera !

5 comments about Sony Cybershot DSC-S600 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
- I bought a DSC-S600 and babied it - Kept in in a padded hard case. The LCD internally developed a bunch of cracks, though there's not a mark on the camera. Sent it in for Warranty service. Sure enough, they claim the camera was abused, and want to bill me 70% of what I paid for it to fix.
I once worshipped Sony.
- I bought this to replace my first digital camera, an Olympus that I loved but needed less time between shots and more megapixels. I have been disappointed with this camera. My camera has stopped working again for the second time, and is now out of warranty. Like other customers the first time the lens locked up while extended and I sent it in for repair. Sony to it's credit repaired it under warranty even though I lost proof of purchase. Recently, the lens cover stopped working and I would have to turn it on and off again in order for it to work. Now it is completely dead and only displays "access" before shutting off.
Sony wants to charge me a minimum of $107 to fix it but I am done!!! I usually am thrilled with Sony products but not this time. As a point of reference my old Olympus was used and abused for years and never gave me any problems. My Panasonic Lumix has also never given me any problems. I guess I am in the market for another compact point and shoot. Any non-Sony suggestions??
- I love this camera, it takes great pictures, it is so user friendly, and is built like a tank but is really light. I have taken exelent pictures with the open shutter mode on the camera and the color options are awesome. This camera is so easy to use, you turn it on, you press the button and you have a picture, press menu and you have all of these settings at your figertips! I dropped this camera many times, the last one i dropped it on the ground and the memory slot opened and the card popped out! (opps!) but it works just like it always does. This camera is made for everyone, the pro photographer, the middle user, and the person who is new to photography. I would recemend sony and any of it's exellent cameras to everyone.
- Pretty good all around camera for what it is. Battery usage is not bad, don't use rechargeables or you will be disappointed in the performance. You can take lots of pictures with a 1gig care before its full. Uses AA batteries which are easily obtainable almost anywhere.
Picture quality is pretty good, focuses pretty easily. Movies are pretty good. Overall an easy to use camera.
Rated a 4 because it is inexpensive.
- My daughters camera seems to be experiencing the same problem as others. She bought it at 14 years old with her own $ to take on a school field trip to Washington. She took about 50 shots and then the power button would only work randomly or the lense would freeze coming out or closing. Being an electrical engineer I would guess that the motor for the cover/lens draws so much current that the battery voltage drops so low that the camera shuts off. I have tried brand new Eveready Copper tops with no luck. If I try it 4 or 5 times and can't coax it to life I can sometimes set it to view the pictures and then slide it over to the take picture mode and it will stay on. I feel bad as I talked her into a $300 Sony telling her to buy a good brand name and it would last for years. Tough lesson for a 14 year old spending babysitting money!

5 comments about Sony DSCF707 Cyber-shot 5MP Digital Still Camera w/ 5x Optical Zoom.
- First of all, I've owned this camera for approx. 4 yrs and have had some success in producing quality pictures. However, within the last year, I purchased the only telephoto lens made for the camera which is quite heavy to say the least. I believe, because of the weight, the lens has caused damage to the camera... partially separating the manual focus cylinder from the body of the camera.
I've discussed with Sony and got little satisfaction. All they will do is refer me to a contracted vendor to repair it at substantial cost since I did not have an extended warranty.
HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IF SO, CAN THEY SHARE WHETHER OR NOT IT EVER GOT RESOLVED?
ALSO, MY ACTION SHOTS USUALLY RESULT IN BLURRED IMAGINES. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE?
Thanks,
Roger
- I have owned the DSC F707 since it became available at Best Buy. It was more money than I planned to spend but I am sure glad I decided to do so. I have taken 1000's of pictures and printed them on my printer and I am always amazed at the quality of the prints. Always used a SLR before so I was leary of this camera but soon found it to be a dream to work with. It seems I can do almost anything I need to do with this camera and it never lets me down. I have several 128mb San Disks but I would like to find a couple 256mb or 512mb if they are made for this camera. Does anyone know where I can get these? Overall, excellent camera!!
- The camera worked for exactly one month and then it stopped focusing and when I tried to get it repaired I was told it would cost more than it was worth to fix it. I spent 400.00 for one month's worth of use.
- I've this camera since 2001 the cost was 762$. The camera has been worth every dollar I paid. Everytime I take pictures and share them with friends they get really impressed. I've taken pictures like a pro. I bought a optional mounted flash and in a enclosed space and pointing the flash to the ceiling I've taken the most vivid pictures I could dream of. I've captured the most wonderful still moments of a party with incredible detail. The optical zoom allows me to get a close up of a face from my 6th floor apartment building down to the street. I've thought of buying a new one just because of obsolence you know! but It's gonna be difficult to find another camera that can give me so much fun.
- I have been having this camera for 5 years and was never disappointed with its fantastic picture quality. It is a really superb camera!

5 comments about Sony Alpha A700 12.24MP Digital SLR Camera with 16-105mm Lens.
- By all means it is very capable, quick, and well made camera that takes big deal over Minolta's legacy. This camera is distinctively "Sony" while it still incorporates many of nice findings pioneered by swallowed Minolta.
I played with this camera for couple of days and found there's much to love about the ways it suggests. The lens is terrific. I guess it is the same lens that was permanently mounted to DSC-R1 and by all accounts it is glorious lens. The sharpness, clarity, transparency of it, all across the field is simply second to none. It is hard to touch another lens after trying this. In DSC-R1 just the lens itself was worth the purchase! The range of the lens is exceptionally convenient and extends trough the range that is appropriate with hand holding shooting. Reinforced by Sony's shake reduction it provides complete and very dependable tool for shooting anything with the lens under practically any condition. You must see the full size images this lens on the camera produces to concede it was worth many words. Today, there are many superb cameras on a market and Sony made smart move by offering premium glass in somewhat accessible price range as it makes the whole system very sweet and desirable.
Great camera, great lens.
- I've now had the A700 for 8 months. Totally solid reliability, not a problem one. I use a Sigma 10mm wide angle and the Sony 18-200mm lens. The camera feels just perfect to hold. Image quality is of course terrific. The wireless flash system is great, with 2 H56's you can do lots of creative lighting and is fun to use. Complaint would be high noise level shooting in low light with DRO turned up, but of course just turning it down fixes it. Great high quality DSLR, I am very glad with the choice I made.
- I shot film for many years. Had a change of careers and was out of photography for a while. Then got back into it with digital. This is my third digital camera and my second DSLR. I used Nikons for many years but, knowing Minolta lenses are just as good and often better than Nikon or Canon or other brands, I took advantage of the momentary panic when Minolta lenses were cheap. I had also used Sony digital cameras with Zeiss optics and enjoyed the image quality, product quality and industrial design. I had also used Sony video equipment in professional settings and knew Sony made great stuff. Also, Nikon cameras use Sony sensors.
Now that Sony has fully taken over Minolta and is doing nice work and being innovative, I picked up the A700 on sale.
It is a terrific camera. But if you are new to photography and new to SLR photography, you might be better off starting with an A200 or A300 (or their successors if you read this a few months or years later). Then in a few years, pick up an A700 used or its successor (A750?)
In short, the A700 is an excellent DSLR camera. Combined with classic Minolta or new Sony lenses, you will have great results. For Sony lenses I have the 28mm and the 50mm Macro. Both are excellent. The rest of my lenses are Minolta or Konica Minolta zooms (for a brief time, Minolta combined with Konica before selling to Sony). I hope to pick up some of the newer Sony G or Zeiss lenses in time. But if you are just shooting for fun, the basic zoom is fine to start, then see what you like to shoot and get a "prime" like the 50 Macro.
- I have a Canon 5D and although it produces impressive pictures, I found too many of my pictures were blurred and I found myself not carrying my 5D around as it was a heavy camera (front heavy and hard to hold still IMHO) with the 24-105mm lens attached (hence the blurred shots). I started to look for a smaller and lighter camera - comfort was a major issue as was the size of the viewfinder and quality of the LCD as the 5D's LCD is frankly poor - very hard to tell if something was sharply focused or the appropriate colour. I tried out the following:
Pentax K20 - didn't like the focusing system or the LCD menu system, but otherwise impressed with the camera. Also, it's not a Nikon or Canon which is attractive given their saturation of the market - it's good not to go with the herd sometimes! Good range of lenses.
Nikon D80 - uncomfortably ergonomics for me, as with the D300, the thumb rest digs right into the lower joint of my thumb making it hard to hold firmly, I also didn't like the reversal of the focus and zoom rings on their lenses (focus at the back, zoom at the front).
Nikon D300 - very nice camera, but almost 100g heavier than the 5D!
Canon 40D - very similar to the 5D in terms of size, weight and shape. Comfortable but bland ergonomics and still on the heavy side. Nice big viewfinder, very impressive large information in the viewfinder too, compatible with my existing lenses. But it's a Canon (I have an aversion to monopolies or duopolies - it's not good for consumers or innovation!) and with their quality 17-80 lens it was going to weigh little less than the 5D.
Olympus 510 - brilliant size, weight and comfortable ergonomics, good kit lenses. I don't like the 4/3rds system (a smaller sensor just can't be better as I found with comparisons to the 5D and it makes the viewfinder very small) and their menu system is plain ugly. With a 900,000 pixel moveable screen and cleaner menu, Olympus would corner the small DSLR market.
I decided to buy an A700 with a Carl Zeiss 16-80 lens and have used it for a couple of weeks and overall I am very happy - I use it far more than the 5D as it is light and small and easy to carry. On the downside, the picture quality is not as good as the 5D especially at high ISOs where the Sony is noticeably grainy. Amateur Photographer has a review in their current issue which shows that in terms of IQ, resolution and noise the 5D beats the D300 and 40D, so the A700 really can't compete. But there's no point having the best camera sitting at home gathering dust.
Sony A700 Pros:
- Lightweight and small compared to others in class.
- Very nice ergonomics and comfort in the hand. Easy to hold very tight with very little camera wobble compared to the 5D which is front-heavy and less easy to hold still.
- Brilliant LCD, easy to check colour accuracy and sharpness - don't even need to zoom to check focus. Sony and Nikon are miles ahead of Canon, Olympus and Pentax here.
- Carl Zeiss lens is lightweight and small too, with a very useful range. Very sharp and colourful lens.
- Very bright and large viewfinder - which is so important and put me off Canon's 20D and 30D a few year's ago which have small, pokey viewfinders.
- Anti-shake device is superb, makes a huge difference and in my view is better than the lens version with Canon and Nikon. It applies to all lenses which is a major plus.
- I love the shake level meter in the viewfinder window. It is brilliant and almost on its own has made me a convert to the A700. A little chart fluctuates depending on camera shake, so you wait until the chart drops and then take the picture - it is so helpful.
- White balance settings have 7 variable settings (-3, 0, +3) which is very helpful.
- Lovely clean menu system, easier and quicker than Canon and up there with Nikon's which is also lovely to use. Olympus and Pentax really needs to take note, as their menus are cluttered and not intuitive. The A700's menu is a pleasure to navigate.
- Dedicated ISO, drive, WB and exposure buttons is very quick and useful, all are large and easy to press and can be used without even taking one's eye away from the viewfinder. Also a custom function button (NOT a direct printer button like Canon!). I don't miss the top LCD screen at all - big buttons are more helpful!
- Compressed RAW looks as good as RAW but takes less space and time.
- Outdoor shots are very sharp, very colourful and contrasty. I mainly take travel and outdoor pics so this camera really suits my style and needs.
Sony A700 Cons:
- Picture quality and resolution is not up to Canon 5D standards (but matches 40D and D80 etc). I appreciate they are not like-for-like cameras or in the same class, and the 5D is full frame etc, but it is 3+ years old. My experience is borne out by Amateur Photographer - full frame is best. I should add that at low ISOs (200 or below) and shooting RAW or cRAW the Sony output is almost as good as the Canon, which when coupled with the Sony's size, weight, LCD and anti-shake device is enough for me.
- Where the Sony suffers is at higher ISOs. At 800 the 5D has almost zero grain or noise whereas the Sony, to me, is noisy in the shadows and darkers areas of the pic. If you mainly shoot indoors or in low light, this may not be the right camera for you.
- Poor dedicated range of lenses. Not as many lenses as available for Canon and not the same quality either in terms of build and glass. Too many of the Sony lenses I have read about have had poor reviews. No problems if you have Minolta glass - but again, not the range or quality of Canon.
- Too few Sony lenses have USM/HSM/SSM etc motors. The Zeiss lens is quick but not as quick as my Canon lenses with USM motors. More importantly the Zeiss lens is very "squeaky" in use - when going from completely out of focus to focus there is an audible whirr and squeak as it is not an SSM lens. Only the high-end telephotos have SSM. Also, many of the Sigma lenses don't have HSM while they do for Canon and Nikon mounts making them also loud and slower.
- WB under incandescent light is poor - very orange cast and even with the parameters being changed, is still badly inaccurate.
- There is no ISO reading in the viewfinder info bar which would be helpful and is standard at this level of DSLR.
- The AEL button is very raised away from the body, as a result, when pressed, it is hard to keep my glasses close to the viewfinder and my view becomes distorted - this is actually quite annoying, but nevertheless not a deal breaker by any means.
- The rubber grips on the lens are very fine and are a dust magnet. It's a really minor point, but after one week my Carl Zeiss lens looked shabby because any dust and dirt gets stuck in the fine rubber ridges and is really hard to clean.
Overall:
Overall the Sony A700 is a really excellent camera if you shoot at low ISOs (800 or under), mainly shoot outdoors and want something light and compact to carry all day. If you are coming from film where shooting higher than ISO 400 was virtually unheard of, this is a great camera. I give it 4 stars not 5 as it is not perfect (though arguably no camera is perfect, and this comes as close as any) - to me it is a bit too noisy from ISO 400 up, certainly compared to the D300 with which it shares a sensor. But, it doesn't matter 90% of the time. V Highly Recommended.
- This camera is great. Feel comfortable taking photos ISO 800 and beyond. I don't really miss many photo opportunities. So much control and your fingers too. Seems to be a dedicated button for everything within easy reach. Well done sony. Now if you could get a few more lenses in your lineup...

5 comments about Sony MVC-FD73 0.3MP Mavica Digital Camera w/ 10x Optical Zoom.
- I have had the FD 73 for three years now. When it was brand new, my wife got hit by a wave at the tip of Cabo San Lucas with the camera around her neck. The camera was in a case but the wave was so strong, water and sand actually got in the camera. We dried it out and it didn't affect camera function at all. That was a huge relief because three years ago this camera sold for $500. I use it at work a lot to take pictures at office functions. Everyone is amazed I can pop the disc in any computer and email or print the pictures instantly. I have used it on vacations outside the US in Internet Cafe's to email pictures home. It's best features are it's so easy to use and you can view the pictures on any computer anywhere in the world simply by inserting the floppy disc. The only problem I have had with the camera is getting consistent picture quality in very light or very dark settings. That may be operator error but after three years it still happens. I have looked at upgrading to a MVC with more megapixels but I have learned for each feature you add you lose some of the simplicity of the FD73.
- If you are looking for easy storage of pictures without the hassle of uploading them to your PC, this is the camera for you. It is big and bulky. Pictures are terrific, cam is easy to use.
Best: Easy to use. Worst: Big & Bulky.
- Given camera as a gift, and as a novice is incredibly easy to use. However...I quickly discovered (after spending nearly $100 on prints) that obtaining quality 4x6 prints is not an option. In order to get decent resolution I am limited to wallet sized pictures. Bottom line??? If you prefer to thumb through a photo album years later, strongly consider a different camera with higher mega pixels.
- I have used this camera since the late 1990s for mostly professional purposes. I write and edit a newsletter for a state agency and am often asked to take photos at award programs and/or to accompany job announcements, often with almost no prior notice.
Of all the cameras I looked at in the 1990s, this was the one that best suited my needs. The reasons for that follow:
1. Shooting photos on a diskette was easier than engaging software and changing documentation from the camera to a file on my PC.
2. The 10X zoom is very accurate and allowed me to do adequate work even when I could not get close to my subject.
3. The camera is flat out easy to use and has a large viewfinder, a large left hand grip, and big button to press when shooting pictures.
Before I bought this camera, I worked for three decades for newspapers and in communications offices of governmental and nonprofit agencies doing the same kind of work I do now. In all those years I never used a camera that was as easy to use as this one, nor did I use one where transmitting the product from the equipment to e-file was easier.
Having said that, this is a low resolution camera that will not always give good results. It is adequate for head shots and has always come through for me in events.
But I've taken photos of my cats at home where their eyes look more like diamonds than eyes, and I took some pictures of the Christmas tree where the lights looked more like the stars or snowflakes than lights on a tree.
So don't buy this to create award-winning photography. For all the same reasons, it doesn't produce very good hardcopy photos.
But this is a great camera for someone that needs to take pictures right now and get an adequate product online fast. That's my mission at work and this camera has always helped me achieve it.
In addition, the battery charger works fast and I've never had to pay a dime to get anything fixed in more than a half-decade of use. I don't know how this stacks up in the camera industry but it's a lot better than most of the electronic equipment I use in the office or at home.
- This camera worked only for a short time. The battery would never hold a charge. Went in the trash.

5 comments about Sony DSCP92 Cyber-shot 5MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom.
- I received this camera as a present from my mom. It has to be probably the best camera that I have ever owned. It is wonderful because you can just point and shoot with faith that the image will come out clear as day. Also the movies are impecable quality. As a photographer this camera is great to carry around in order to just grab life as it happens. It is light weight, easy to handle and even easier to use.
- I have had this camera for 2 or 3 yrs. now... let me start of saying this is an excelent camera... i love it.. if i had to go back and do it all over again i would have still chosen this camera... now i will tell you the problems that i have encountered...
The Flash- this camera has a red eye reduction feature that works wonderfully but, the flash goes off about four times before the picture is taken and if it is a posed picture and the subject doesn't realize this about the flash then they are likely to move by the time the picture takes...
Lens- about 6 months ago the lens started getting stuck i took the camera apart and blew all the stuff out of it... after that it started working again... about 4 or 5 months ago the there was something wrong with the focus.. all i had to do was zoom in just a little bit before i took the picture and it would focus just fine...
let me end by saying most of the problems that i encountered with this camera where about 98% self inflicted by me... this camera has made several trips to New Orleans... a few dozens falls from fairly high places.. i used it outside on a front porch to take some pictures and video of hurricane Katrina.. (live in south Ms)... but this camera is still going...
- I've owned this camera for about 3 1/2 years and it is now malfunctioning. The LCD shows a horizontal purple bar across the middle and the screen flickers. Moreover, my photos come out with thin red, blue, and green lines which ruined my Christmas pictures. I'm not heavy user of the camera. It was never dropped (I took care of it like it was made of glass). It was never kept in humid conditions. And no, it's not part of the CCD image issue. I will say that I did find Sony support helpful.
When the camera was working, it drained batteries quickly (even the special digital AA ones). I thought the shutter speed was a tad slow which caused me to miss quite a few shots. When I did capture the shot, I was pleased with quality of the photo.
I'm in the market for a new camera and I will look at Canon or Olympus.
A word of caution on store warranties: I bought an extended 3 year warranty through the big name electronics store I purchased it at. Be aware about the warranty if you decide to purchase one! It was 3 years from the shortest of Sony's labor warranty (3 months) or parts warranty (1 year). The salesrep neglected mention that important piece of information, so I had 3 year 3 month coverage; not 4 year coverage as I would led to believe.
- This camera is good for point and shoot. Low zoom power, but makes up for it by being compact enough to carry around.
More importantly, for those interested in infrared photography or IR + visible photography, this camera is a 10 minute project to disassemble and modify. 10 screws, swap out the ir filter and you're set.
- I've had this camera for 4 years, and it is still taking great pictures. The quality of the pictures is great, even better than two newer cameras that I have.

- Great little camera with excellent battery life which offers more than 300 images on a 1 GB card. Pros include large screen and short description (on screen) for each preset mode and Cons include lack of anti-shake features which result in occasional bad photos. Overall, recommended.
- This is my first digital camera, so I wanted something what take a good picture, portable, but wasn't way over priced. I know you get what you pay for, so I didn't want anything really cheap, but I didn't want anything outrageously priced either. So far it has been an excellent camera. I haven't had any problems with it. Its user friendly. I don't use all of it features so I can't rate any of those, but it gets the job done.
- My wife always complains about the digital equipment we use - until we started using the Sony DSCW50 camera. It has no hesitation, it is tiny, it takes great photos, and it is very easy to use. This is a really good product.
- Small camera that takes great pictures. The movies are 640X480 and they are great too. I bought two of them for work and they are both working well after a year. I bought a camera just like it for my wife too.
- This camera is light, has many features, and is good for those who want to take specialized photos as well as for those who just want to point and shoot. The features are enough without overkill.

- At this price level this camera should be a performer. It looks great, is well built and easy to use yet I could not get one great picture out this camera no matter how hard I tried. If you are contemplating this unit think again and buy a Canon.
- Everyone, including Cnet, is talking about what a great deal this camera is for $400. But I can't find it anywhere for less than $600. Did the price go up recently?
- This is the third digital camera I've owned and the picture quality is terrible. The pictures come out blotchy and blurry unless the object is standing perfectly still and there's the perfect amount of light. I love the camera, it's display and menu, and the overall handiness, but the pictures are truly disappointing.
- Its odd to add a review for a camera now out of production, but consistently this camera rates significantly higher then its successors the T200, or T300. The later generations have higher resolution images, and improved software. But this older model delivers better pictures, and more pictures per charge. In the end isn't that what you get a camera for?
Its sad, but true, that the photo journals and consumer report articles on the newer cameras consistently report them as disappointingly inferior to this older model. This explains why this old model now sells for more, sometimes twice as much, as it did when it was in production - or as the newest successor sells for now.
- Good product from sony.

- With the credibility of Sony its the best digital camera available at the cheapest price. I bought this camera recently and it works perfect. No blurry images, excellent flash and complete redy-eye reduction. I highly recommend this camera.
- I read all the reviews for this camera when I was trying to decide what new camera I wanted to get, and I was a little hesitant at first because there seemed to be a lot of people who found points of disappointment in it, but I'm glad I ended up making the choice that I did because this camera is GREAT. Looking at the other reviews, I realized that the people who were disappointed were the people who wanted more than a point and shoot.
If you just want to take pictures of your friends and good times, this is a GREAT camera. You have to hold it steady, like any other camera, and the flash can be a little bright, but that's easily adjusted with all the special features it has. It's incredibly easy to use, you barely even need the instruction manuel - especially if you've had a digital camera before - and I think that it's a fantastic price for what it is.
A couple other reviewers mentioned the size being a problem for keeping it in their pocket, maybe it's just because I had an older Sony digital but this thing is tiny! It easily fits in my pockets without hampering anything... of course tight tight jeans do seem to be in style lately but I'd think that kind of clothing would make it hard to fit ANY camera in it.
This camera is very light, it's incredibly easy to use, and it takes great pictures. It's a point and shoot, just don't expect it to be anything it's not supposed to be and you won't be at all disappointed!
- For a point and shoot camera, I expect this thing to take decent pictures consistently. It doesn't.
I bought it for my girlfriend just over a year ago, and I still feel a little embarassed. Most of out pictures are taken at night, and indoors. To get a decent picture of a face or person I usually have to try almost every setting.... Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Portrait, Soft Light... then Flash Auto, Flash Off, Flash On, etc.
By the time I get a good picture, I've lost the moment and have to delete 6 or 7 all black or all white pictures plus some blurry ones. There are times when I take 4 or 5 pictures from the exact same place and the come out totally different, too black, too white, red or weird blurry.
I use my Nikon D40x for quality pictures and end up using my phone for candid shots instead of dragging this Sony arround.
- This product has worked amazing for me. I have taken it to washington DC to San Fransisco and has taken amazing pictures for me. I used this camera for a Digital Photography class in a college and my work was just as good as people with more expensive cameras. It also took great pictures indoors and outdoors. The only slight bad thing was when using natural light the you need to turn flash on. I've also dropped this camera near 15 times and still no problems
- Ive had my Sony DSCW30 for a little over a year now and it's one of the best little point and shoot cameras that I have ever owned. And I have had several:Nikon, Olympus, Cannon. Its a great little quick point and shoot, very quick power up and small and compact. Takes almost as good of pictures as my Sony H1. Ive taken it on several trips and its been nice to have such a small powerful camera in my pocket or the little belt pouch. Yes it does not take quality pictures like my DSLR, but its not made to. A very nice little camera and its not made of plastic, very sturdy built camera. GOOD JOB SONY!
