  1. I've been looking for a small compact camera for like about 4 months and I ran into this one by accident (it wasn't even out on the market yet). I was on CNet checking out reviews when I came across this review and I WAS SOLD. I preordered it and I even receeived it sooner that expected. I've had it for about 2 weeks and have no complains whatsoever. The camera itself has 4gb of internal memory and I can view my pictures on my 1070 HD TV and they all look amazing. It has so many features and you would definetely not expect that coming from a camera that size. This camera is absolutely fabulous, so I am very glad I invested in this little gadget.

  2. OK, so I have a Sony A100 DSLR that I really enjoy.. I took that to the MotoGp race last month and found that sometimes it's just better to have something small. After 3 day's of lugging that and 2 lenses around it got old quick, so I started shopping for a point and click.. I settled on this camera and I am glad I did, it has the same processor as the A100, it's 10.2 Mp just like my DSLR, but it's less than 6oz, it has 4G of internal memory, the LCD is larger and it's all metal, so it's perfect to just carry around all day..

  1. Esta es una de las mejores camaras que he tenido a mi alcnce, gran resolucion y un facil manejo, el unico proble esta con respecto al zoom pien que con uno de 5x seria mejor.

  2. I love the point an shoot cameras made by Sony mainly because of the Professional Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, that makes a huge difference when you compare this camera to a similar price camera from another manufacturer, in my opinion the picture quality of this camera is far superior then HP, Canon, Olympus, or Nikon.

Sony include the new ultra fast BIONZ processor in all their new cameras, this is a big deal when you take high resolution pictures and want your camera to be ready to shoot the next in no time at all.

There's a lot of things I love about this camera like: the animated graphical menus, cool metal exterior finish, big display, slide show with or without music, extended battery life, high sensitivity of ISO 3200, Super SteadyShot, and Convenient Photo Modes among others.

The Smile Shutter Mode does work but its a bit tricky when you try to use it on several subjects since you have to detect everyone faces for the Smile Shutter to work properly and this is not as easy as it sounds.

Overall I recommend this camera to everyone who likes a small size point an shoot, easy to use, that can take great quality pictures without spending too much money.

PD: I will add some customer images if you want to check out the picture quality

  3. very happy with camera.my son took it with him to peru and took hundreds of shots.

  4. The cybershop is a compact effecient camera. I have not learned about all of its features, but so far, it is very easy to use. I am very please with this purchase.

  5. The smile detection feature is what sealed the deal. Its a great camera. The only warning is it holds 4 pictures without a memory card. I DID find an 8G memory stick duo for like $22 online so that should make it hold about 2k pics.
I didn't find the ISO pics to be too blurry... but I'm not a professional photog, just a mom :)
Anyhow, great camera, great pics. I recommend it based on the value.

  1. We just put the new T500 through its paces during the arrival of our new baby. Both still shots and HD video taken with the camera came out beautifully. Camera performance is excellent. The touch screen controls are intuitive, the options are plenty (if you want to bother with them), and the quality of the output is great.

The only reasons I'm not giving the camera at 5/5 is that the battery seems to get dragged down rather quickly (admittedly mostly due to video usage), and the included docking station is required to plug the camera into your Mac (or PC). As I travel a fair bit, and like the small size of the camera, it's a bit of a shame that a docking station is needed, in addition to the USB cable (would be optimal if you could plug straight into the camera and avoid the extra hardware).

One last point to note is that this camera is the better choice if you want video and still photo capability in one. If you're looking for a camera that can store a ton of still pics on board, without requiring the not included Memory Stick Duo cards, then go with the T700 model.

All in all, this is a solid camera, with a great output, in a perfect size. Definitely can't go wrong.

  2. I'm not that much into digital cameras and I only had a few in the last years. But that cam is just great for anyone who wants a handy and high quality camera.

  3. T500. Just opened and charged it. Just one test pic. Disappointed that there's no smile shutter or good in camera retouching features like the t77 or my h50. not a bog deal but that smile shutter is fun. also a little bigger than I hoped and the docking station's a bit of a pain but guess it's needed bc of the hdmi connection. will test it for a few days and see how it goes before final decision.

  1. This is an excellent product. I bought my Sony to make video reviews and to take a multitude of pictures. The camera comes with a very user friendly "how to" manual for those of us who aren't too tech savvy. For the price, it is a steal. The picture quality is excellent and rivals the quality from a lot of more expensive cameras. The Sony software isn't interchangeable with other brands so be ready to pay a little more to equip your product with Sony only products. All in all, an excellent purchase!

  2. I'm in the Saltwater Fish Bussines, and its very important to have nice pictures of the exotic fish that arrive every time, and this camera does the job , nice, crisp, 8 MP say averything and if you add a 2 or 4 GB memory stick you can take hundred of pictures .....

  1. I purchased this camera after about 2 months of research on every camera out there. I Love this camera, but I only gave it 4 stars for the following reasons:
    1. The product manual doesn't really tell you how to use the camera and the tons of functions.
    2. The touch screen is incredible. It can get a little overwhelming because one minute you can find a specific setting or function but when you go back to look for it again, you can't.
    3. It would be nice if the manual would help out with setting suggestions for taking pics.
    4. Many people say that this camera takes bad pics, but I have found that you really need to get to know the settings and flash controls.
    5. The software that comes with this is a bit confussing. I was on Kodak easyshare before buying the Sony Cybershot DSC-T70. The Kodak Easyshare software is WWWAAAAYYYY easier for everything. Sony would be smart to look at Kodak's software and make changes to there software.
    6. The flash is way too brite. A photographer friend of mine recommended taking a small piece of scotch tape (clear-frosted) and put it over the flash. This made a world of differance!

Overall, this is a fantastic camera! It has taken me a few weeks to get used to the settings, but I'm really glad that I didn't give up. No product out there is going to be perfect and everything is always going to upset someone, but this one is worth the time to get to know. I love that you can edit pics on the camera however, I can't figure out how to edit on the Sony software... One more recommendation, DO NOT use the red eye function. I have had better pics not using this feature than with it.

  2. I've owned a sony p-200 point and shoot digicam before this and that camera was amazing.

So I did not hesitate to buy the T70, but I should have.
From the get go when I loaded my first images, at 100% scale on Adobe Photoshop I saw all the grain and imperfection this camera's image qualities host.

Sure the touch screen interface is a great conversation starter and is impressive, but for me I take photo's semi-seriously.

The lack of a manual setting mode is frustrating.
ISO up to 3200 is a joke.
The program feature allows you to reach that, but even at 200 with less than perfect lighting the images come out GRAINY!

Video features are well and you are now allowed to zoom in and out during live recording so thats a plus.
Sleek design and its easy to carry shape is a plus compared to my P-200.

Overall it is a decent camera for everyday images and shooting, I personally like using the HD aspect for my images with this camera but for the level of imagery I am use to and now MUST use, this camera will not do.

I should've returned this camera while I had the chance.

  3. this camera was better than i expected. easy to use. and takes nice pictures. small size. exactly what i was looking for. seller was terrific also. for my daughter. she loved it.

  4. The photos are poorly lit with nitida, clear and spectacular widescreen format also is indicated for my LCD TV is a compact camera, thin and incredible, I would buy a thousand times more

  5. If you want a camera that at least takes some decent quality pictures DO NOT buy Sony Cybershot T70... image quality sucks... I regret I did not go for the Canon IS1100.

  1. So, the DSC-W120 came in the mail today. I charged the battery via the charger, turned it on and viola: a dead or stuck pixel appeared on the top left of the LCD display. This is quite discouraging. I called Sony and they gave me the run-around even though their box states, "PLEASE DO NOT RETURN THE PRODUCT TO THE STORE" urging costumers to call Sony with defective products. I took a few pictures and the dead/stuck pixel does not replicate itself in the photo. So, the question is should I keep it? Or return it and go through the hassle of a replacement or refund? I would like some insight here, since this is my first digital camera in (gasp) seven years!

  2. This camera has many functions, so many that I'm still not sure how to take advantage of them after a few months with it. All I can say is that a friend of mine who is an amateur photographer got a hold of it and took astonishing pictures with it.

  3. I bought this camera for my 8 year old daughter's birthday. It is easy enough for her to use and takes great pictures. I find myself using HER camera instead of my own due to it's better quality pictures. I recommend this to anyone looking for a small, lightweight, convenient and quality camera.

  4. it is replaced Sony W80. Image quality is better than W80. In Particular supersensitive picture(i.e. ISO800) is better than W80. And low price is good.

  5. I had this camera for only 4 months when the screen locked up and wouldn't function. I spent 8 bucks to send it to the Sony repair center where they said that the malfunction was my fault and that the repair would cost me $90 bucks. So the manufacturer's warranty is baloney, or
Sony Baloney. Effectively, there is NO manufacturer's warranty, just in case you want to buy this camera. Whatever goes wrong with your Sony camera is your fault, and they will NOT cover it. Needless to say, I will never buy another Sony camera. BUYER BEWARE!!!! Any camera malfunction is your fault and will not be covered by the so-called manufacturer's warranty. The manufacturer's warranty is strictly HYPE.

  1. I'm a Canon fan. Our last 3 cameras were Canons... but my wife and I decided that we'd give Sony a try. We liked the bright, crisp screen, the compactness of the camera, the quick startup time, the long zoom range (5x optical), the convenient settings dial, the layout of all the buttons, the ease of use of the menu options and basic camera functions, slideshow playback (with music), and let's be honest here, it's nice to have a camera in the color you like (rather than the boring silver/black). Everything seemed fine from what we could tell on our visits to Best Buy.

But after we got the camera, we started to see some things that we couldn't tell from our trips to the store.

    - Poor image quality. Pictures look fine when resized to fit your computer monitor, but when you zoom in to the actual size of the picture, you'll notice that the quality is not that sharp.
    - Shutter delay. I know that all cameras have some shutter delay, but it was quite noticeable and annoying on this camera. It takes longer than it should to focus, especially in medium- to low-light. (It was fine at the store, but then again, the store is pretty bright.) The delay is even worse with the flash.
    - Slow flash. You can't set the flash to red-eye or no red-eye. You can only turn the flash on and off. That means that the camera will sometimes do the red-eye flash if you don't want it to... so by the time it actually snaps the picture (after the focus delay, of course), you've already lost your photo moment. This is especially true for taking pics of our baby. There's no way around it.
    - Smile feature. We actually LOVED this feature, especially when you give smile-priority to your child -- so that when your child finally smiles, it snaps the picture. The bad thing is that you have to be literally smiling ear-to-ear (which looks very unnatural) for it to take your pic. Same for the child/baby. Nice idea Sony, but bad execution. It'd be nice if you could set the smile threshhold/meter to a lower setting, so that you don't have to smile as big.
    - Few manual settings. I generally like to mess around with some basic settings -- like flash, no-flash, no-red-eye-flash, white balance, exposure, etc. These are pretty basic functions, but these are difficult to change on this camera because you just can't change these things easily or at all. I feel constricted to only do what the camera 'allows' me to do, which is very little. It's fine for people who are brand new to digital cameras, but not ideal for anyone else.
    - Video quality/size. By default, I believe the video size is set to 320. The quality is absolutely *horrendous* at this setting. But if you increase the size to 640, the video is very nice -- but the file size is absolutely *huge* (compared to Canons, where the size is much smaller for a 640 video). On the positive side, there's no time limit on the video, so you can shoot as long as you want. But be warned, it will eat up space on your computer very quickly!!

These nuisances made us fed up within a week. We've traded in our Sony for a trusty Canon. Sorry Sony, we gave you a chance... but you just didn't impress us.

  2. Pros:
Generally speaking, this camera is easy to use. The quantity is enough for most non-professional users. The launch time(from pressing power button and ready to take photos) is very short, only 0.8s. The quantity deserves its pixels.

    Cons:
Bad battery time and limited functions.

    Summary:
I recommend to buy a camera in this price. Maybe it is not the best value/price ratio in the range. But you would not regret buying this camera.

  3. I bought this for my girlfriend who had been using an older Canon SD200, and she had a lot of trouble adjusting to it. This camera is capable of very good image quality, but the menus and controls are not so easy to navigate. Make sure you turn off the Auto-ISO function or else you will get noisy pics. And from what I can tell, you can not turn off Auto-ISO in the "Easy" or "Auto" modes, which makes them useless...maybe I just haven't figured it out yet. SteadyShot works well. I like that you can zoom to 100% in the playback function, so you can really see if the picture you just took was sharp or not.

  4. this is a great overall point-and-shoot camera. has tons of cool features. it's quick at firing shots. great zoom. the auto focus isn't always perfect, but usually on target. haven't used all the functions yet to comment on all it's capabilities. for night shots and long exposures, definitely need a tripod just like any other camera on long exposures. but overall a solid compact camera.

  5. This Sony camera is a winner. Small, but powerful, we've used it in a variety of settings and it has never let us down. I'd recommend it highly. Sony Cybershot DSCW150/R 8.1MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot (Red)

  1. I bought this camera to replace my older Cyber-Shot (DSC-W5). I was very excited when I received it because I really loved my old camera - wore it out in fact! But after trying for a month to adjust to it, I am really disappointed. Pictures in low light are grainy no matter what MP setting I use. Auto-focus doesn't work so well. Bright colors are super saturated. Response time for pushing function buttons seems slow (like review, menu, changing from auto to landscape, etc.).

It is a great price for a cheap, decent camera. I guess I just got spoiled with the older version? The newer one is not nearly as good. I wish I would have spent the money on getting the old one repaired instead of wasting it on this one.

  2. I spent a great deal of time on Steve's Digicams website reading reviews and looking at sample pictures. Primarily I use my camera for blogging and not for prints, so the way the pictures look on the web is what I used for a guideline. Specs-wise I had actually one-click-ordered the new Nikon Coolpix S610 from Amazon before panicking (because there were no reviews or sample pics for that anywhere yet) and cancelling the order. It was then down to this model. I went to a local electronics store and checked it out (as well as looking at the competition in case there was something I missed) and ended up taking this nice red one home.

The only two things I see "wrong" with this camera are that you need to use the Memory Stick (so I had to buy one, whereas we have 3-4 SD cards already) and that you can't operate it with one hand. My old 2.3 megapixel Canon was set up in such a way that you could hold and shoot with your right hand (assuming your hand was steady enough). With this one, the pressure of my palm presses the menu buttons accidentally. I'm still not sure I'm keeping this one, but I am thinking about it.

  3. I purchased this item for my boss. He's technically challenged but this camera was so easy to use that he picked it up and started using it right away. I absolutely recommend this camera.

  4. I had the 7.2 MP cybershot and this is an excellent upgrade. I am still able to use my base memory sticks and the quality of images have been great.

  5. I researched and compared cameras for a couple of months before deciding on this one. I also have a Sony Cypershot 15Xzoom DSC-H7. We bought a Nikon Coolpix L18 for our son, which I would NOT recommend. To me Sony's are the best! My little red Cypershot is GREAT! To this day, I still haven't sat down and looked at the manuel, but it's so easy to use, takes great pictures and it fits in my pocket or purse. I'm sure once I really check out what all the features of this camera, I'll find it even better! Thanks!
