  1. Got this camcorder (my first camcorder ever) about three weeks ago. Overall great and I've been nothing but impressed. If you are looking to shoot some video of the kids and play it back to family and friends on the home TV then get a less expensive camcorder. I think that if you are going to digital it's because you plan to download and manipulate the video on your home computer to get a semi-profession video. This camera lets you download the 30-minutes (of usually boring) video of the kids playing Little League onto your home computer and turn it into a really cool 5-minute baseball video with a soundtrack, still shoots (saved on the built in still camera) and titles that you can record back onto the camcorder. Lightweight and compact, it's easy to carry and the large (3.5 inch) LCD screen is a lot easier to view then the typical tiny 2.5 inch screen. The built in USB port and cable (included) is for the saved JPG still shots on the memory stick. To download the video to your computer you need a firewire card and a firewire cable (not included) plus the video software for your computer. The Sony included software is for the JPG still shots only. The camera also does not come with any MinDV tapes so order some when you order the camera. If you plan on shooting a lot of video without a battery recharge you might want to think of getting another battery. The LCD screen sucks up battery power like crazy so plan on 30 minutes of shooting before you are looking for a recharge. All in all a great camera that is easy to use and has enough options and bells-and-whistles to keep anyone occupied.

  2. Bought the beast in preparation to a one-month trip to Vietnam and quickly mastered its use. The standard features bundled with the package are impressive. It is forgiving and the playback on a tv set is quite remarquable. I think the beast will do a fine job on the road.

  3. REALMENTE LA CAMARA ESTA EXCELENTE, ES MUY PEQUENA, Y DE MUY BUENA CALIDAD DE IMAGEN, COMODA CON MIL FUNCIONES, EL UNICO INCONVENIENTE ES ESE, QUE TIENE MIL FUNCIONES Y CASI NO LAS USO, REALMENTE CREO QUE SI NO SON EXPERTOS EN CAMARAS PODRIAN COMPRAR UNA MAS BARATA. PERO SI LES GUSTA Y TIENEN TIEMPO, DEFINITIVAMENTE ESTA ES LA CAMARA.

  4. I've had a great experience with my camcorder. It has everything an amature needs, being very easy to operate and also sofisticated enough to satisfy a profesional.

Size is great, not too big, and not a tiny dificult to handle camera.

Highly Recomended, high quality camcorder, worth the price.

  5. This is a great camera, I work in film production and this camera is able to capture things that not even a real film camera can. If you were to buy a camera, I would buy this one. It is GREAT value for it's price.

  1. I have enjoyed this camera for about two years. It is small, light, takes good video and is what I need from a video camera. However, this model and many other Sony models have a CCD Defect that causes the camera to record nothing but sound and a black screen. Unfortunately, Sony does not acknowledge this as a defect, even with the number of people that apparently have this problem. The repair cost for this is more than $200 from Sony, so I will be looking at other brands to replace this.

  2. I bought this camera (DCR HC 42) in 2005 and it worked very well until recently. The lcd screen has gone blank after going dim and off-color first (this all happened within 2 days). The viewfinder is still functioni ng but the lcd gives access to all the features which were responsible for me choosing this camera. Several post on other websites seem to indicate that this is a flaw with this camcorder so invest in additional warranty.

  3. Picture quality and other features are good as long as it works. If you are buying this make sure that you buy extended warranty.Mine died after one and half years,as per Sony cost of repairing it is more then buying a new one :).I paid $500 for this and it lasted only for 1 and half years even though I rarely used it.I see lot of people having issues with Sony handy cams recently.Do proper research before buying a handycam(google for issues others having with the model you are buying). If you buy this product.... don't forget to buy extended warranty otherwise a small issue might make this handycam useless.

  4. Years ago, Sony stood for undisputed, unrivaled quality that could last for a life time. I have purchased a numbers of Sony products over the past few years all based on the faith.

    No more.

One by one, that trust has eroded with the failing products. My VAIO can barely holds itself together in one piece, then the LCD display of my DCR-HC42 went blank, not to mentioned all the battery problems that Sony produced...

Goodbye, Sony! the overpriced, under-quality gizmo brand! You have just lost a loyal customer and I am sure you will lose a lot more...

  5. This Camera's display went completely bad after around 1.5 years of light use. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT !!!!!! What's the use of it when there is no display on it. My 400$ got wasted. :-(

5 comments about Sony CCDTRV608 Hi8 Camcorder with 3.0" LCD, Video Light & USB Streaming.
  1. This is a great camera. We use it a lot. I love the night shot, the steady shot works great and it has a lot of other nice features. Everything on it works great all the time. The light metering and auto focus work very well too.

There is only one problem that really frustrates me. It has a right and a left microphone and records in stereo, but there is no way to get stereo playback through the analog A/V output. That's certainly one of the cheapest things I've seen in products that I've bought. It's very disapointing from a name like Sony.

  2. While this is a decent Analog camcorder, don't expect much from the USB streaming feature. The maximum frame size over USB is 320x240, which is half the minimum recommended for creating a DVD out of a home movie. If you want to get the video from your tapes onto a computer or DVD, expect to purchase a separate video capture device or card.

To make matters worse, the bundled software doesn't let you capture more than thirteen minutes of video at a time before it crashes and claims the drive is out of disk space, regardless of how much disk space you really have avaliable. This happens even when recording to NTFS volumes, which do not have the 4 gig file size limit of Fat32.

Most third party programs will also have issues using the camcorder's USB streaming features. The drivers create an eclectic audio device that many video capture programs can't see, so you'll have to use a separate audio cable unless you like the idea of not having any sound. Roxio's products are among the many that can't use the audio driver.

In short, it's a decent camcorder, assuming you compare it to other devices as though the USB streaming feature didn't exist, because for all practical purposes, it doesn't.

  3. I've had the camcorder for a while now, and was hoping to be able to use the USB streaming feature to make small computer movies and send them to my friends and family overseas. Although the camcorder is good the included software is weak and the USB streaming makes a very choppy poor quality AVI file. I recently got a new computer and could not find the device driver disk that came with the camcorder. Sony technical support was a joke and they ended up trying to sell me a driver for my camcorder. So now I have a camcorder that I can plug into my TV or record onto a VHS (Do people still use VHS?) but any dreams I have of putting something on my computer are fading fast. I'm going to have to find a new way to send my parents the video I took of my new house.

Frankly in this day and age an analogue camcorder is a waste of money.

  4. I've had two of these, and both of them lasted about a year? Both of them had the same malfunction- tapes jamming in the camera. I talked to a repair shop & they see this a lot with sonys because of the design. Using purchased movie software we were able to make good movies in our pc & burn to dvd. Using pixela software included we could capture still shots (good enough for listing things on ebay, etc.) which was a novelty then!

  5. I bought it new in 2002 for $400. The color is pretty good. The resolution is very poor, only close shot get you satified. Other than that you get blur edge and barrel distortion sometimes. I didn't use it a lot for the first 3 years, only the last 2 years I used it regularly to tape my daughter's piano class homework every 2 weeks for 5-8 minutes each time. Recently I have to knock this camera extremly hard several times to make the recording start (It's common issue as the piano teacher told me.). So I have to find a new camcorder now. I don't know what can I do if it refuses to work one day in my daughter's piano class.

5 comments about Sony HDR-HC7 6.1MP MiniDV High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom.
  1. I've had this camcorder for about 8 months now and I've been using it enough, I feel, to give a pretty accurate review.

I've been using the camera in a number of different environments (outdoors, studio, in the home, etc) and the only thing I've noticed it consistently stumble with it nighttime shooting, but considering this is camera is on the prosumer end of things, this is to be expected. Day time shooting has been flawless and the camera holds up in the studio as well. Even using the standard miniDV settings, the image is pretty superb.

The camera can be outfitted with SCORES of different accessories--lenses, filters, mics, etc. I haven't used the hotshoe at all because I have a lot of "cold-shoe" accessories which can be mounted with a video bracket with universal mounts (search online--they're about $10-$15 and totally worth it). I feel it's the way to go instead of shelling out more money for hotshoe accessories. Just carry some batteries around.

On the topic of mics; the build in one is actually pretty good (most camcorder ones are), but the problem is that, usually, the camera is too far away from the action to accurately pick up good sound. That said, it's totally reasonable to invest in a small shotgun mic ($50) if you're serious about your audio quality. A big plus with this camera is the mic input in the front of the camera. It seems today most consumer cameras are losing this option, but it's a great one to have.

The camera accepts all standard 37mm lens accessories (filters, lenses). Filters (polarizing ones, especially) are great to have if you plan to do a lot of outside shooting. As for lenses, the 37mm wide angle lenses I've used (the cheap ones, at this point) have really messed with the image quality, so I resorted to using older, larger lenses (49mm). To do this, all you need to do is pick up some adapter rings and you're set. If you choose to do this, watch out for vignetting--this is where your image gets rounded at the edges because the adapter ring/lens is cutting off the actual camera image.

The touch screen is pretty useful except there are a lot of menus to go through if you want to know EVERYTHING the camera does or is capable of. It's hard to see in bright daylight, but there are hoods you can buy (or make out of cardboard...) that will help you out.

The one thing the camera lacks is a real focus ring. Sure, there's a dial on the side near the lens, but it just doesn't feel right and focusing becomes a somewhat daunting task. You can set the dial to do a number of things, like exposure, for example, but I would've preferred an actual focus ring.

The still photo quality is pretty decent and now that my old digital camera has crapped out on me, I've been using the camcorder for still shooting.

All in all, the camera is pretty versatile--if you're using this for leisure, it's great as is with some menu-tweaking, but if you're looking to do some amateur work, it can be tricked out with more accessories than you can imagine.

  2. The Sony HDR-HC7 has features that you would not expect in a Handy cam. I once asked a Professional at a local retailer, why HD Tapes are 63 minutes instead of the traditional 60 minutes tapes. He said that the additional 3 minutes were for professional Camcorder to save there settings. I wondered what settings would a camcorder need to save! Well I did not ask any more question because one again I figured that the setting were for the "Big Boy". Well one day I was playing with my HDR-HC7 and I ran across "Color Bars", so I call the retailer and asked what were "Color Bars", and he reminded me about the 3 additional minutes on the tape he told me about, was for "Bars and Tone". The next time I talked to him, he had sold his Canon HV20, and purchased the Sony HC7. He loved the feel, the ability to do so many things in manual mode, that he "now says that the Canon felt like a toy in comparison". I think you get the point. I would like to see 24p on the Sony HDR-HC7, but I would not even think about giving up my ability to use all of the great manual features available on the HDR-HC7. If you look at the Sony HVR-HD1000U HDV camcorder, it is the HDR-HC7 repackaged in a Professional looking body, for twice the price.

  3. I am very pleased with the video quality and the comfortable feel of this HD camcorder. Unfortunately, the camera began to intermittently auto-focus erratically in the third month and failed in the fourth month of use. Sony offers a one year parts and 90 days labor warranty on this camera. The labor charge after 90 days is a flat rate of $249 regardless of the repair required (25% of purchase price). Since I had contacted Sony within in the first 90 days about the auto-focus problem I was able to convince the fourth person I spoke with to waive the labor charge for the failure.

Got the camcorder back from Sony today and the repair ticket states "reconnected power flex". I suppose a connector must have come loose. Hoping that I get several years of use out this camera before any more failures occur...

  4. When I encountered a defective internal lens cover I went to their website about getting it fixed and they state there is a minimum $250 charge. Their warranty only covers parts, not labor. I sent the camera in anyway and they called to say they would charge me $600 to fix it because of "corrosion" which was not covered by the warranty.

I only had the camera about two months when the lens cover started to fail when I was on a week's vacation at the beach in Sanibel, Florida. The camera will not start when the internal lens cover fails. When it fails, you get a message on the screen that says "lens cover failed to open, turn camera off then on." I did that several times and it usually did not resolve the problem. But sometimes it would. Ironically, here in dry Arizona it works most of the time, but at the beach or near the Colorado River it jams up.

However, this had to be a known manufacturing defect if they have an error message for when it occurs! I had ordered the camera with a lens filter and the filter was always on the camera, so it is highly unlikely anything entered the camera through the lens opening.

So now I have an expensive camera that works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. When it works it works great, although the autofocus can be off at times. And the still photos are gorgeous. I think its a good camera when it works, but I'm a little miffed that they want me to pay over 50 percent of what the camera cost to fix their defect.

I would advise not buying their 1.7x teleconverter because it doesn't improve the zoom that much and if you zoom out your videos vignette so badly it looks like you filmed it through a pipe. I also bought the Sony wide-angle screw on, which vignettes if you put a filter on it. I suspect these may be because the internal lens cover requires the real lens to be recessed quite a ways.

  5. Lots of noise issues in low light situations. Sony's customer service isn't the best either. Their uncooperative reputation is starting to bite them or so I hear. My personal experiences with them have been frustrating to say the least. Cannon has much better customer service and their HD products outshine Sonys. This HDR-HC7's low-light performance was a disappointment.

  1. i would like to purchase this product
i am from Bali - Indonesia, can give me lower price

  2. Bought this camera less than 2 years ago and I thought it was pretty good, except the digital part. Terrible pictures, it isn't worth the extra $$. However, the camera recently broke, despite extremely mild usage. The camera will no longer close with a cassette inside. I now know that this defect is fairly common, but an expensive repair. I'm looking for a different camera, different brand. Sony has a quality problem.

  3. I've been looking around at prices and i'de say this is the best price I've found. I was checking out other cameras and found one for $500. It was not as good as this one and cost more. Its worth your cash and the specs are nice! Like the 25x optical zoom is crazy. The digital zoom doesn't really make a difference after u get over 200x zoom on that. So dont think that 700x zoom makes much of a difference. I'de say buy it asap.

  4. This Digicam sulks..I used it for < 2years and it has gone kaput. When I reported this to the Sony Service center they asked for $300 repair cost. They are living in anachronistic times when they quoted this sky high rate. You can get a new one (and that too the latest model ) for a little more than $300.

  5. Numerous reports of camera stopping (type DCR trv38 and problem in google and you'll see what I mean) . The screen goes blank and that's the end of your DCR. Costs about $300 to repair. Reports from 2 months to 2 years usage and not linked to how often used or how treated. It is a problem with the "board" and your camera WILL die it's just a matter of when. It happened to us and we are thinking it was just us. We're buying a new DCR and you can bet it won't be a SONY even if they gave us one--they are too unreliable.

  1. When our 8mm stopped working that we had used for nine years, I found it overwhelming to research and find a new camera.
I knew I didn't want digital because I don't even use my digital still camera very often, other than to e-mail pictures.
I knew that I wanted another 8mm, so that we could play our tapes we have now. I didn't want to spend too much money. We received this camera a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. It even has more options than I really need. We charged the battery when we got the camera and for 2 weeks we have been filming the kids occasionally and the battery is still full. I never thought I would use the night vision, but have found it is fun to film the kids when they are asleep and I don't have to turn a light on to film. The zoom works well and the color looks good. For the price, I don't see how you could get a better camera. I don't think you could find a better analog camera even if you did spend more money. I obviously can't comment on how well it will hold up in the future, but as far as its performance now, I love it.

  2. Bought this tested for a day, the picture quality is awful. Recorded video had lots of grains in medium lights (even in a small room with 100 watts bulb), more yellowish even in bright (sun) light. Hoped the one I got might be bad, and exchanged for a new one. That was also the same quality. Had for a good deal (abt $200), and it is not worth for that money. Returned within hours.

Already own few Sony products (including 4 yrs old camcorder Hi8 TRV68), which are good in quality, made me think all the Sony products are awesome.

Video quality is the main thing needed in a camcorder, so rated 1.

  1. Hi,
This was my first cam and it is good. I expect better performance for the ZOOM and Night shut. But it is sufficient.

    1. You need a tripod for a good shut. Especially, if you are zooming, it shakes too much.
    2. It is good for night shut but could be better.
    3. Buy with accessories. I could not do it because of the first seller. They sucked. But be sure to get a good kit, tripod, battery, screen protector.
    4. I want to use for wedding, the battery was insufficient.
    5. I will buy most probably a cord for shuts without battery. About $25.
    6. The included kit was easy to use. You can easily install XP drivers and use the recorded videos. I did not used throughly but did not see any problem. Also, USB cable is standard one, which is a good thing.
    7. It's hard disk is perfect. I am very happy about the record medium :)
    8. It is hard to select from screen. Cant touch for the first time. I could not select what I want. Perhaps, I am too cautious about the cam when using.

Have fun with it. As I said this was my first cam, so I could not compare with the others.

  2. I bought the SR42 1st, Which is Lower Resolution and the WideScreen Features are Not as Good. So I upgraded to the SR82 (The SR62 is the Same as the 82 but only 30 Gig). The SR42 isn't bad, you get alot of features for the price, if you can live with less than perfect video quality.

The Video on the SR42 was just slightly worse than my 10 Year Old Sony Tape HandyCam. I was using a 50" TV in my comparisons. So I got the sr82. The Video Resolution Upgrade is much better on the 62 and 82 models.

The Other thing I notice is the sr42 did not handle the Widescreen the Same way. When I recorded with the sr82 the Picture filled my Widescreen TV whereas the sr42 did not since 4:3 put Black Bars on the Side and 16:9 had bars on the Top and Bottom. It seems as if the sr42 is 4:3 Native and the Widescreen Mode was 2.35 to 1 Aspect Ratio which I did not Like for Home Videos. The sr62 and sr82 are Native 16:9 Widescreen. They can Also do 4:3 as well.

The ActiveShoe Interface allows for adding InfraRed or Microphone or Lighting Attachments.

The Touch Screen is Nice and Works well. It Rotates 270 degrees. So you can Flip it 180 degrees one way and fold it back towards the camera for doing playback or when connecting to the Computer.

I did notice that the Camera Defaults to SP Mode and Not HQ. So the Highest Resolution is not the default. Just a Heads up.

The Battery gets you at least an hour of Recording. There are Larger Capacity Batteries Available.

I use this Camera in 2 Difficult Recording Situations.
    1) Recording my Band. Usually from Far away. Music Really Loud. Varying Lighting Conditions (Stage Lights). It works well but you must use Manual Focus.
    2) Video Taping my Sons Hockey Team. Hockey Rinks are tough to get Still Pictures in as well. Subjects are moving Fast but Flash cannot be used due to the Glass along the boards. The Netting also plays havoc with Auto Focus. The Sony also worked well in this situation. I got good video using Auto, Snow and Sports Settings. I think the Auto may be the best except when the Metal Halide Lighting is too low in certain rinks it can cause varied brightness in the video.

Overall a great Camera at the Price. Cameras $100 more are probably better. But you get what you pay for. Decide How much you want to Pay and get the Best Camera in that Range. This one Seemed to be the Best one in my Range. Plus I have always had good luck with Sony Products Lasting for 10+ years. Something I cannot say for just about every other brand I have tried. How much did I save when another camera was $50 cheaper but I have to replace it in 4 years...

  3. I had the worst experience shopping for SR82 at butterflyphoto thru Amazon. I always loved shopping at Amazon but this has been my worst experience. First butterflyphoto put this product as on sale for 570$. I was really waiting for an offer as the last time i got this handycam was in christmas and for $500 thru Amazon. So I quickly hit the checkout and purchased it. I recieved a shipped mail (thru fedex) from butterfly after a few days and on the same day I received the mail that the request had been cancelled. I went in Amazon my stuff section to find my order but it clearly had dissapeared. Initially the money was withdrawn but then they had cancelled the payment.

Now whats so worse when you got your money back you might think. The worst part was the item was shipped to my address and was cancelled half way thru and the only reason I can now find for this is that SR82 rates have increased twice fold.

Why should they provide a sale if its a false one. If they did not have the product I can understand. But it waas shipped and cancelled and so much for customer satisfaction.

This is my first review. Many good experiences do not provoke us to write about them but one bad one does.

  4. I never review anything, but I felt I needed to make a review of this product. We purchased this camcorder just before Christmas. Normally Sony makes great electronic equipment, but this camera has been terrible from day one.

For a long time I thought "Well, maybe it needs perfect lighting" or "Maybe the boys were moving to fast", but then I realized that our ancient camcorder - also a Sony - NEVER had a problem with these issues.

This camera almost never focuses properly. It's off just enough that you rub your eyes thinking maybe its you, but its not. If you watch through the view finder, you can actually stand there and see the picture go in and out of focus - and I'm not even moving.

I like the video to disk thing, but it's not worth much if you go to video you little boy's school play and get home to find everything is out of focus.

It's up to you, but I for one would never spend anything on one of these cameras again.

  5. This is my 3rd video camera and my first Sony and I absolutely love it! I have officially become a Sony Snob! It is worth every extra penny! I originally had a Panasonic then JVC and only wish I spent the extra money the first time for the Sony.

I am extremely picky with picture quality and could not be happier! For a personal/nonprofessional camera this is the best! My camera has been on 2 vacations all over the place in low light and bright light, even on a boat and I had NO problems with focus or color.

The touch screen is so easy to use and convenient. I love the setup and how easy it is to watch or delete a video.

I was sceptical about the night vision but think it is just as good as a regular light (I had one on my other camera). The picture is slightly grainy with the night vision which is to be expected in low light but I hands down prefer to not have everyone I am filming squinting from the bright light in their eyes.

I don't know what everyone is complaining about with charging the battery. I do not find this to be an issue- simply plug in the camera and the battery charges..... The battery seems to stay charged for 2-3 hours. I bought an extra one for $50 which works great.

I was not sure if I should purchase this model after reading the reviews of the picture quality compared to an HD model. THIS IS NOT AN HD CAMERA! Based on this, the picture is AWESOME! I could not be happier! This is the best quality I have had in a video camera by far in all areas.
I have not tried to take pictures since I have my own camera and don't think you can expect the best pictures from a video camera. This was not a factor for me.

In my opinion, this is the BEST HDD video camera for the money and I will never buy another brand!

  1. At first I was horribly disappointed with this camera. While the video was incredible, way too many of my stills were coming out blurry. I had upgraded from a 1.3 megapixel sony clunker, and was regretting it.

But over the next while, as I experimented more with the settings, I realized the problem wasn't the camera, it was me. This camera takes wonderful stills once you learn how to use it.

The settings I change from time to time are minor and take only a second or two, so it is easy to use on the spur of the moment.

This is a truly versatile camera, and one of the best buys I've ever made!

  2. I bought this since I wanted both videos and stills in one compact package. This camera does not disappoint. The videos are simply outstanding (in the best mode, of course). Get a tripod, and you can get amazing stills in some of the low-light settings too. I got some outstanding pictures of Washington by night.

The one BIG complaint I have is that as an amateur photographer with limited time to go through manuals or understand photography, this camera dos not do great with automatic settings (others have complained about this here). Which means if you do some work for about 2 hours trying to understand what everything means, you could get outstanding pictures. But the far less capable canons that I have used do a better job with point and shoot than this one. If you know and enjoy tweaking the setting for stills, and like taking some amazing videos in an ultra-small pacakge, this is it.
    What I like most:
You can directly watch movies from the camera on your TV with te included attachment (similar to most camcorders). And a 2 GB stick can take longer vidoes than a Mini DV. And occupies a lot less space.

  3. I purchased this camera just a week ago. I also purchased the fuji v10 which I loved as well. Both nice point and shoot features, BUT....the fuji when zoomed up pixelated ALOT. This camera taken the same picture you can zoom up to see the color of the eyes and no pixelation..it truly is amazing. Settings definitely make a difference so over the week and 1000 shots with both cameras later playing with them, I am in love with this camera and returned the other. The battery life seems much better, the video is totally amazing. I did find a case at compusa that fit perfect for 5 bucks with a belt clip. I purchased a 2 gb card for it and am in love with it. My husband is cracking up, can't even put it down during dinner....taking pics of the food! You will have alot of fun with this. My friends are all ewwwwing and ahhhing at it.

  4. Very nice camera with cool features and ease of use. the auto focus is a bit annoying but that's about it

  5. The sony cybershot is fairly easy to use as camera's go. This was my first "real" camera and in no time i was taking "PRO" shots. The way it opens up is a real "grabber " for me. The screen rotates "360" for easy self portraits.

  1. I bought this to use solely as a web cam and that's all this review pertains to.

It works perfectly. You can use it with yahoo messenger or anywabcam.com, etc. It's exactly what I wanted.

One thing though - some messenger programs, while they work with the camera, don't allow you to change the contrast and brightness settings from within their program.

If you have any issues setting it up as a webcam you can e-mail me at nick.staff@comcast.net.

  2. This camcorder is a great deal for the price. It has excellent night shot capabilities as well as a built in light that works great outdoors. It's lightweight and fits nicely in the palm of your hand. Great buy!

  3. The camcorder was purchased as a Christmas present. We took it on a cruise in early January. After only a few days it gave us a moisture message and stopped working. Sony claims we dropped it in water and wants over three times what we paid for the camera to repair it. We did not drop the camera in the water, we do not have films of our vacation. We are just out our recorded memories and $300. We will never recommend a Sony product to anyone.

  4. I am happy with this camcorder. It is easy to use and the price was fair. Thank you.

  5. When I tried this out there was a buzzing sound that was picked up by the microphone and therefore it would not playback withou a buzzing sound. I sent it off to Sony, as you said it had a 90 day warranty for labor and a one year warranty for parts. I need a copy of your original invoice when you purchased this to send them or the cost to fix it is $269.00.
