5 comments about Samsung SC-MM10 MPEG4 Camcorder w/512MB Memory & 10x Optical Zoom.
  1. This camcorder has some nice features including a powerful zoom, automatic exposure, automatic focus, and a 720x480 video resolution. Though the camera dos not work well in low light conditions, the camera can be operated of the AC power supply, and a high capacity 3.7 volt 2400mAh battery can be purchased at: [...]
This optional battery will double the record time of the camera.

  2. This little camera shoots great video. Don't buy it if your looking for a still camera because it doesn't do a good job at all in this area. If your looking for a compact video camera that fits in your pocket, then this is it. It shoots mpeg4 video which is good quality in a small file size. I'd also suggest getting a 2GB memory stick so you will have plenty of space to shoot your video. Great little camera!!!

  3. I had many of the initial issues with this little jewel, but found two ways to get things on track with my MacBook Pro. Google "deSEDG" and you will find an extremely helpful app that will allow you to convert the avi files so that you can open them in Quicktime and import them into iMovie.

I also installed the Windows codec using Parallels, and this allowed me to view the files automatically in the Windows Media Player. Both results were excellent, and with iMovie I can edit them quite easily.

The information in the guides that comes with the camcorder are insufficient for those using the Mac, but at least there is now a way to benefit from this wonderful piece of equipment.

  4. This camcorder is great, for an amateur. I bought it for my [...]son after I returned the Sanyo Xacti VPC-C40 because it would not charge the battery a second time. The Sanyo was easier to transfer the video to a computer, no software to install. The Samsung is just as easy other than that. It only takes about 2 minutes to install the required files (2)on a computer running XP but might be a problem if you want to send the video to a family member since they won't have the dv driver and video codec. My son has made several short takes with only the TV for background light and they are fine. It will not accept any of my 2 gig SD cards but that may be because they've been used in other cameras. It works great with "new" 1 gig SD cards. If this camera was designed for fun then it hits the mark. If you want professional videos then you should buy a professional camera.

  5. this camera has loads of cool features, is very easy to use and is quite affordable for what you are getting. I recommend this product highly.

  1. Samsung Digimax L830 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Red)

I LOVE THIS ITEM SO MUCH!
arrived in great time I didn't even expect this to come this soon.
Actual camera is prettier than the picture!
Works great! Overall I really like this I used Sony camera before
but this is def better. You can change picture's colors and everything
I love it and price was even better !!!

  2. The L830 is a great product for the price. Previously I had a Samsung Digimax i6 and LOVED it so I tried to replace it with something similar or better. The L830 has lived up to my expectations of a great Samsung product. Its pictures are easy to take, clear and with brilliant color.

  3. This is a good camera especially for the price. Image quality does suffer a bit from the price and I don't like the proprietary cord connections. The charger is proprietary and the data cable to download the pictures is. In this day and age, I think most if not all digital cameras should use standard mini USB cables. Nevertheless, I give it a 4 out of 5.

  4. For the money, I can't believe how good this camera is. Takes great shots and videos. It also has a lot of fun features like changing the color or adding frames to pictures. For someone low tech and thrifty like myself, this camera is perfect.

  5. This is a wonderful camera. I was unsure about buying a camera online without seeing it first, but I am very happy with it. It takes wonderful pictures and it small enough to fit in my pocket. I would recommend this camera.

5 comments about Samsung Digimax Pro 815 8MP Digital Camera with 15x Optical Zoom and 3.5-Inch LCD.
  1. I'm no professional camera user myself, but this camera has such a crisp quality of taking picture, and it really teaches you how to focus and time your shots when using the manual zoom. It takes brilliant pictures, has great camera life, and I always have room on the memory card it came with for more picture.

The only thing that's a little bit of a nitch is that the top screen is hard to use when your doing manual focus becuase its soo small, and that the eye finder is digital so its not like an SLR but other than that it absolutely rocks and is a GREAT buy!

  2. I am not a techie, but I got the Samsung as a step up from a regular Kodak digital. Please forgive my lack of "technical" discussion.

I find it an "adventure": I'm learning it as I go along and very day is a new suprise. Fairly easy to use and packed with features. Love the long zoom, love the huge LCD and all the other goodies. Pix are sharp and clear. I haven't seen any other high end digital that is comparable. Only complaint is shutter lag time.

I got it as "refurbished" here and saved a bundle. Seems new to me.

  3. I'll start saying that I'm not a pro photographer, but this digital camera has some features that really impress me, starting by the big LCD screen, the 15 x zoom, fast response and multiple options to configure and adjust. Also it's a great price if you compare with others with similar features.

De only draw back that I'm aware so far is that the size doesn't fit in any third party case, I bought a low alpine and it fit uncomfortable, probably best choice is to buy the original samsung case.

  4. I am a licensed child photographer, so I knew exactly what I was looking for when I bought this camera. This camera is now my favorite to use. I like that I dont have to change lenses, which lets me focus on only one thing - the children. I do have to use a tripod if I dont use the flash, but I expected that. The battery always outlasts my 2.0gb memory card, so I don't have to change the battery mid-photoshoot. One thing to know though - if the battery IS low, the shutter speed is very slow. So keep it charged. I recommend this camera to my friends, my photo specialists, and well, to everybody!

  5. I have had this camera for almost 2 years and I have to say that I absolutely love it! You do not have to be a professional or even advanced to use this camera. Although, it does have lots of options, you can still put it on "Auto" and just point and shoot. This camera is still going to give you great pictures with vivid color. You can learn the more advanced options as you get use to the camera. I would highly highly recommend this camera to anyone who asked me about it. I wouldn't trade mine for anything!

  1. I bought this camera as a Christmas present for my 7 year old son, who has shown an interest in photography and had taken some very interesting shots with my digital camera while visiting my parents during the summer. He has shown promise with his artistic eye for detail, content, and placement and I wanted to encourage him without investing too much money in his newfound hobby. He loves this camera! It is lightweight, easy to use, has features that makes it easy for him to be even more creative with the effects, and the pictures are decent. He has taken a few shots that he really liked, so I had them printed as 8"x10" prints and framed for his wall. He's going on his first Caribbean cruise this spring and looking forward to filling his 2G memory card with photos and memories to have printed and make a phtoto coffee table book for me and his grandparents. Though it's not what I'd purchase for my 16 year old son or either of my teenaged stepdaughters, who have a keener eye for picture quality and are a bit more responsible, I think it's a great first camera for a child who is truly interested in photography and has shown that they have a knack for finding beauty through the lens.

  2. Saw this mid-size Samsung S630 for $59 last week, and bought it for my 11 year old daughter without a second thought. It was very light in weight (plastic case)and good built. Photos were nice and above one's expectation for less than 60 bucks. It also has lots of features and a 2.5" LCD screen. I used two Sanyo enelope rechargeable batteries and they are still running after couple hundreds of photos. Video clips were even better in image quality than photos in dim light. This is a great beginner camera in such a low price and good quality. Now my daughter can have her own camera for her school field trips.
    Great gift for your kids.

  3. The camera is very good designed, with plenty features, and very good picture's quality. I bought one for my daughter, and then additional one for my causine. Could be used for 10-yeras old, as well for adults.

  4. I brought this camera in April this year and it was my best purchase since. It is perfect, the quality is great and yes there may be a lag between pictures but hey my friend has a Nikon and a Sony and those cameras have the same lag time as this one.
I would recommend anyone to purchase this cam, and please don't study people when they say the camera has no battery life- you not suppose to use normal batteries on ANY digital camera because it will only last a few minutes. I bought a rechargeable pack batteries and it works jus fine.
For the price this is the perfect camera and it is HIGHLY recommended by me.

  5. Okay, so you pick up the camera. The first thing you feel is the cheap plastic. We're not talking the same plastic most digital cameras are made of; this is CHEAP! Without batteries, it is by far the lightest digital camera I have ever held. That is already a turn off in my opinion. I doesn't look or feel, in any way, durable. I'm afraid of squeezing it too hard in the anticipation it will crack. Not good.

It has the same amount of buttons and switches most point and shoot cameras possess, the power button, the shutter button, a menu button, etc. The one thing it does have that most don't is the turntable switch to choose different modes of shots, which is usually only found on SLRs. I don't know if Samsung thought this would be appealing to people. It certainly makes switching shots quicker, but it's not going to cancel out the horrible body.

The startup time of the camera is quite fast with no welcome screen, so that's good. The first thing that I want to do is get in there and setup the size of the image. But, wait! It's nowhere to be found. 2816x2112 seems to be the only resolution this camera takes. But, I later discover that you have to press the trash can button to change image sizes. It's not in the menu where you would find it in most cameras.

So, after I have the images fine tuned, I go to take a shot. I have a stuffed moose that sits on my desk and I use it as a prop for most of my photo taking lately. It seems no matter what setting I set it on, Portrait, Scene, Manual, ASR, Program, Auto, or Night Scene, this camera will NOT focus on the moose, no matter how far away from it I am (we're talking within 5 feet or so). Now, most of the other cameras I've tested will focus within 2 feet of the moose. This is rediculous.

I take a picture of a different subject that the camera WILL focus on and wait for the Eye-Fi to upload it. IMMEDIATELY I notice noise in every shot. I thought this was just the jenky LCD screen that they used with the camera. Nope, it's the image itself. There is no reason why this camera should have so much noise.

I'm done toying with this camera by now. There is nothing that is going to bring my rating above one star. NOTHING.

I do not recommend this camera whatsoever. And the price that it is selling for? You have got to be kidding me. This is NOT a great camera for the price. If you gave this camera more than 2 stars, you have obviously never owned another digital camera before, or this is your second digital camera, with the preceding being manufactured in 1999. Horrid.

5 comments about Samsung GX-1S 6.3MP Digital SLR Camera with Schneider D-XENON 18-55mm Lens.
  1. First I want to say that I got this camera for the incredible price of only $349 or 375 with next day shipping. It arrived on-time and I was so amazed that I even got a deal like this and it actually was real.. unlike some sites that give you japanese products or don't include everything.

My cameras are, Sony Cybershot F717 (which still costs more than this SLR), a panasonic Lumix, a Canon EOX Rebel X, an HP photosmart, and a Sanyo.

This camera is a really good camera, I have no real complaints other than it took me quite awhile to figure out how to get it to perform well in action photography and in indoor situations.

After I discovered a few simple techniques I was well on my way with this camera and even have taken some professional pics for friends and family!

First things first. DISABLE AUTOFOCUS!!! - the camera has to focus on everything and when taking pics of babies you cannot wait for the camera to focus every single time before firing a shot.

    1. Set-up the OKAY button for your focus. go to: Menu, custom, Ok Btn Whn Shooting, and select number 3. This will allow you to focus with the Okay button and only take pictures with the shutter button. sounds simple but this is a lifesaver! I focus on a child with the okay button, and fire multiple shots by pressing the shutter release. this way the camera doesn't ask any questions or doubt your ability to focus! it just fires away! this is what professionals do. once you fix your focus point, you don't need to keep focusing for every shot.

    2. Turn off auto metering*. choose the samsungs 11-point focus. This way the camera won't guess what your trying to focus on and give you what it thinks. what you focus the little red dot on is what the camera will focus on. (use the up, down, left, or right keys to focus on other areas on the screen. you will see the red focus light move in the viewfinder to one of the 11 points you choose.)

    3. when indoors and zooming in on a subject to take a photo the camera guesses the exposure, so pictures will usually come out dark. Easy tip - when zooming out to its widest, keep exposure at 0.0. when zooming all the way in on a subject, change the exposure to 1.0. If you need it brighter change it to 1.5 if you need to. this will keep the subject well lit and sharp.

    4. don't use anything over 400 for the exposure indoors, it just isn't worth it.

Well, these are my tips so far! hope you like! I promise they will enhance your photos tremendously!

  2. I got this product for 350 at the time. Now i seen it went up in price. It's a great camera. The Auto features don't give you the best possible photos. They tend to be a little dark. I also went to a few local camera stores and picked up a few cheap pentax lens to cover a bigger range since the lens included isnt the greatest. Overall at 350 it was a great deal. At over 500 you are better to look towards other brands!

  3. Ever since I gave up on my 35mm and went digital I've had point and shoots. Nothing more expensive than $200.

I've missed my Pentax SLR, but was unwilling to pay the high price for Digital SLRs. I was closely watching the prices on the new Pentax cameras, especially the K100 and K110. When Amazon had this Samsung GX-1S on sale for half price, I jumped.

A rebranded Pentax *IST ds2, this camera is awesome. 6.1 mega pixal, 18-55mm lens. When you factor in the price, below many high end point and shoots, it can't be beat.

I've already bought a zoom lens (75-300mm) and filters. Pentax lenses are a direct match, so that's no problem. I have a whole kit to replace my old 35mm, for not much money.

Thank you Pentax, thank you Samsung, THANK YOU AMAZON!

  4. I'm glad to say I chose this camera as my first dslr and am beyond pleased! Like others have said, it's basically a copy of an *ist ds2 and can take k-mount lenses. The build is plastic (I suspect with the steel chassis of the *ist), it's nice and light, but feels very sturdy and not cheap. It's just right really. The grip is perfect for my girl hands, and the features have been easy to learn alongside the user manual. The xenon lens included feels much nicer than I expected a cheap kit lens to be, and it's a good starter to experiment with before diving into purchasing better and more expensive glass. (Seeing as Samsung and Pentax are in kahoots here, I think it must be like the Pentax kit lens, re-stamped.) I got this when it was $350 not too long ago and I'm still stoked about what an awesome value it was, and how much more of an awesome value it becomes as I get better at taking photos. I'm not so sure I would choose it over the Pentax now that the price has gone back (?) up to around $500, but it is a great camera nonetheless and I'm glad to have it.

  5. I took over 5000 photos with this camera, it is fun, easy to use and delivers beautiful images, here follows the strong and weak points in my opinion:

    Pros:
    Large pentaprism viewfinder
    Nice photos
    Top LCD
    Good solid construction
    Pleasant to operate
    Decent kit lens
    Use AA batteries

    Cons:
Slow auto focus in low light
    Loud shutter release
    No sensor cleaner
    No image stabilisation
Auto white balance poor in incandescent light

  1. This camera is pretty good for any person. I was trying photo art with it and it's not excelent for that... but for memory photos is great.

I had another like this one but with 6.5 MP, then I bought this one.. then I bouth another one like this for a friend. Now i'm saving money to buy another one, because a couple of days ago i lost this one i bought :(

I think this is the best option because of the price, and because is a really good product. I love taking pictures, i love images, i love memories, i love visual art.. and this is the perfect tool.

  2. I LOVE THIS CAMERA! IT HAS SO MANY COOL FEATURES SUCH AS VIDEO AND ULTRA ZOOM. IT'S SO EASY TO USE AND IT'S A VERY GOOD BRAND (SAMSUNG). I HAVE PURCHASED DIGITAL CAMERAS IN THE PAST BUT THIS IS THE BEST I'VE HAD YET! TO BE HONEST, THIS IS THE SECOND CAMERA LIKE THIS THAT I HAVE PURCHASED. I LOVED IT SO MUCH, I PURCHASED A DUPLICATE, SAME COLOR, MEMORY CARD, AND ALL! BUY IT...IT'S WELL WORTH IT.

  3. The camera is sleek, light and easy to carry. Zoom is decent and picture quality also good. What surprised me is that I did not expect good night-time pictures with this camera. However, the night-time pictures are great! Great buy for less than $100.

  4. I bought this camera to use while hiking and otherwise away from a constant supply of batteries. If you buy this camera, you better bring huge supply of batteries with you. For instants, once in a while I would get maybe 20 or so photos before it shut down, sometimes only 3 or 4 and a couple times it would not start up with store fresh Duracells. It always seemed to shut down when I needed it the most.

On the positive side the pictures look great, the camera has easy to use controls and the supplied Windows software works well. All in all I suggest you look elsewhere for a digital camera.

  5. I purchased the Samsung camera about 3 months ago thinking it would be a great camera to take along on my vacation to Alaska in August. Sure am glad I bought it early! I couldn't afford to buy batteries for this camera. On several occasions, I only got 6 pictures out of one set of batteries.
I have an older digital, took the batteries out of the Samsung (It indicated they were dead) and used them in the other camera for 20 more pictures.
I recently bought another camera to use on my trip, anyone want to buy a Samsung S730? Cheap!!!

  1. I just got this camera and didn't have much time to play with it so I can't write a detailed review, but I thought it warranted noting about the video portion of the camera because I didn't see it in any of the other raving reviews. When you zoom while videoing you lose all sound. This stinks. I depend on my camera for all videoing of my kids. I don't have a camcorder. I take video of my kid's school performances constantly, most of which involve singing and music. So, when I noticed this issue with the video sound I immediately packed it up and am returning it. I can't have the sound just cutting in and out when I'm zooming for a close-up. Also, the zoom is only 5x. I currently have a Canon S2 IS which blows this camera away with 12x zoom. The only reason I wanted a new camera is because the Canon is so big and bulky. I wanted to have a camera that would fit easily in my purse so I could have it with me always. Not worth the sacrifice though. I'll stick with my big Canon.

5 comments about Samsung Digimax i85 8.2MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom (Black).
  1. I have found the Samsung i85 to be a terrific value. The photos are great, extra batteries are readily available and inexpensive. I have not had any trouble with delays in shooting indoor flash pictures... two or three seconds between photos. Maybe some who have mentioned this issue received bad samples, have slow cards, or weak batteries or some combination of these factors.

The personal movie player is wonderful. The Samsung conversion program will not directly convert a DVD into a movie that you can use on the camera. Any ripper that can convert a Video TS file to an avi file will work. You can then convert them into the proper format. I already had some movies that I had converted to Palm format with DVD Pocket Wizard and the Samsung program had no trouble converting those for the i85. Unfortunately the conversion program requires a Windows based computer.

Like all cameras lacking a view finder the Samsung is hard to use in very bright sunlight because of the mirror glare on the screen. There is an option in the settings to turn on backlighting and that does help. But if you are a beach person you may have to use a t-shirt or something to cut down on the reflected glare.

As others report, the earphone port is 2.5mm. I am going to buy a short 2.5 male to 3.5 female adapter cable. If you do the same be sure to get one with the 2.5 male plug running at a right angle. Because of the location of the earphone jack and its cover a straight in plug will not work well.

    Great camera 5++ stars!

  2. This a great Camera, with great image quality and amazingly fast zoom!
The video quality has also quiet improved over the NV3 that I have.
The reason that I didn't give a 5 star to this camera are the following:
    1) A small delay in start up
    2) Relatevly low battery life.

Otherwise this camera is an amazing power house that realy raises the bar over the competition.

  3. I've been using this camera for past 2 weeks.
I'm pretty much satisfied with its performance. It gives blurred images sometimes but otherwise its pretty decent.
Its build in media playing capability is really cool.

  4. I had done some research on various brands (ie, Sony, Canon, Nikon, etc). I used resource such as CNET and other review websites to include reviews from product owners that purchased various on-line stores.

After all that, I found that the Samsung i85 looked like a real gem, especially for the price compared with Sony and similar high-end brands.

What I found is that for a basic point & shoot ultracompact cameras, the Samsung i85 has the best bang for the buck.

At first I was concerned about MegaPixels. Then I discovered that that is just a bunch of hype when dealing with these types of cameras. MPs between 6-10 are actually going to give most people way beyond what they need, because even if you print your pictures, you won't find a lot of quality difference. Those with bloated MegaPixel ratings are for serious photographers that plan on making prints from poster to billboard size. for a simple 4x6 or 8x10, you're not going to see any quality difference.

So that led me to my next question about optics. What I liked about this camera is that it surpassed every other. 5x Optical zoom AND 5x Digital zoom = 25 total zoom! All the other cameras were in the 10 to 15 TOTAL zoom. Samsung i85 wins that category.

I also found that the i85 seemed to have one of the largest internal memories to start...190mb vs 15-32mb for the others I was looking at. Samsung i85 wins that category.

Also uses upto 4GB sdcard. *Make sure that it is a regular sd card, I found that the Ultra Fast cards don't seem to work as well. No problems since going to the regular speed card.

Camera takes photos, video, plays mp3, even has a sports photo feature...great for taking pictures of a golf swing.

Big screen, easy to use buttons.

Overall, I'm really pleased with this camera.

ONLY FLAW that I've discovered so far is that you can inadvertently hit the play button to see your pictures which results in the camera turning on, instead of just using the power button. Not sure if its a setting or something I'm doing wrong.

  5. I've been a Samsung Camera lover for a long time. I began with the Digimax S500, then upgraded to Samsung NV3, and now I recently purchased the Samsung i85. I've tried other cameras like the Sony Cybershot DSC S730, but returned it instantly at poor picture quality and lack of image stabilization (Don't be fooled by the SONY brand name, this camera is not good!). Then I bought an Olympus FE-230, and although the picture quality was great and the camera was slim and lightweight, it was too slow at taking pictures for my taste.

After my failed attempts, I bought the Samsung NV3, which is a perfect camera. It takes great pictures, amazing videos with great sound, and you can even hear MP3s on it. After having a successful buy with the Samsun NV3, I decided to upgrade and immediately fell in love with the Samsung i85. This camera has it all. It takes beautiful pictures both inside and outside. It has many features in which you can tweek your camera into taking great pictures despite the horrid conditions outside.

The face recognition function, image stabilization, and ASR function make this camera perfect for portraits and up close and personal pictures. The pictures are so crisp and clear that it makes the worst looking image look beautiful. Videos turn out nice, with great sound quality; however, it is better to take videos in well lit areas. The World Tour guide function seems to be really cool and educational, but I haven't really messed around with that yet.

Moving on, Samsung's i85 is a great camera for those who want great pictures, and don't want to spend too much on a digital camera. Samsung cameras are also very durable and with the internal zoom, you won't have to worry about messing up the lense. Battery life is very good, but I feel that the NV3 has a longer battery life span. The LCD display screen is huge and great for previewing pictures. I do recommend for those who are purchasing this camera to buy it either in silver or black, as they look nicer with time.

Overall, this is a great camera and you'll definitely be content with your purchase!
