  1. Samsung Digimax L830 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Red)

I LOVE THIS ITEM SO MUCH!
arrived in great time I didn't even expect this to come this soon.
Actual camera is prettier than the picture!
Works great! Overall I really like this I used Sony camera before
but this is def better. You can change picture's colors and everything
I love it and price was even better !!!

  2. The L830 is a great product for the price. Previously I had a Samsung Digimax i6 and LOVED it so I tried to replace it with something similar or better. The L830 has lived up to my expectations of a great Samsung product. Its pictures are easy to take, clear and with brilliant color.

  3. This is a good camera especially for the price. Image quality does suffer a bit from the price and I don't like the proprietary cord connections. The charger is proprietary and the data cable to download the pictures is. In this day and age, I think most if not all digital cameras should use standard mini USB cables. Nevertheless, I give it a 4 out of 5.

  4. For the money, I can't believe how good this camera is. Takes great shots and videos. It also has a lot of fun features like changing the color or adding frames to pictures. For someone low tech and thrifty like myself, this camera is perfect.

  5. This is a wonderful camera. I was unsure about buying a camera online without seeing it first, but I am very happy with it. It takes wonderful pictures and it small enough to fit in my pocket. I would recommend this camera.

  1. While I bought this as a christmas present for my wife, She has yet to be able to use it. She tried to record a small video and it would not play back. Then the camera started telling her weird things like, the disk is not formated and do you want the camera to format it. When we answered yes, the same message just continued to come up. I called Samsung and was told that there was a patch I could download onto a dvd which could be put in the camera to correct the problem. When I told them I did not have a DVD burner, they offered to send me a disk. After waiting 2 weeks, the disk arrived but was on a full sized CD rather than the mini DVD so I could not put it in the camera to download. I borrowed a computer with a DVD burner and copied the file onto a mini DVD. Then when I put it in the camera, the camera told me the disc was bad. I did this three times with three different discs and the results were the same each time.

I have now sent the camera back to the on-line store which sent the camera. They indicated that they will send me a new one. I am just hoping the software patch has been installed on the new camera when I get it and my problems are resolved. I was hoping to just get my money back and try a different brand but at this point, the distributor just wants to send me the same camera.

Based on my experience to date with Samsung, I don't think I would buy anything else from that company.

  2. I've had nothing but problems from this camera. It sucks the battery down lightening fast, it won't shut off sometimes and this weekend, it would skip on the recordings so it didn't record all of the event I was trying to capture. Returning this immediately!

  3. Camcorder is Ok but it seems like the batteries go down to easy. Tried
several batteries, but have the same results.

  4. I don't usually write reviews but, I feel the need to let everyone know what a poor camcorder this is. I unfortuantely didn't do any research prior to buying on black friday 1 week before my new baby was to be born. The whole 8 mos that I have owned this I was only able to record and finalize 1 disk with no problems (the 1st disk) since then it stops recording mid disk says "write error" & it won't finalize. I thought maybe it was the disk so I bought some more/different brand of dvd-r it worked fine then mid disk same thing when I press record it says "write error" doesn't record or finalize this time it erased the month worth of taping my new baby. I tried to take it back to the store were I purchased but, since I didn't buy a protection plan and it was over 30 days I am stuck with it. Called Samsung and I have to send it in for the repair. My son is about to crawl anyday and it will be missed. I am not the only one with this problem. Now that I have done some research a lot of people are having the same problem. For something as important as taping precious memories I wish I would have paid more for a better camera. Memories are priceless.

  5. I was given this camcorder as a Christmas present when I gave birth to twin girls. I recorded on it and found it would not finalize and repeatedly received a disk error message. I tried again and got the same message. Now I have two unviewable disks with precious family memories on them. When I called customer support I got a woman who barely spoke English who went through several steps with me and then told me to only purchase Memorex RW disks. There should be a warning with the camera. Nowhere in the owners manual is a specific brand name disk mentioned. I did use a Sony disk once and it did finalize but am at a loss as to what to do with others. I am very unhappy with this product.

2 comments about Samsung NV40 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilization Zoom (Black).
  1. I spent a while researching cameras before purchasing the NV40, I found that it had all of the features that I wanted. I especiallty like the self portrait mode it works great. Camera is very compact and the pictures are very clear. There are so many features on this camera my only complaint is that there is no in-depth printed user's manuel, you have to the supplied disc on a computer.

  2. I bought the upgrade to my old camera (the NV10) because I was excited about all the new features. I believe the file quality is better, the noise is less apparent, the ISO has a better range, and the flash is no longer a pop-up, which is great, because I used to always put my finger over it! There are a few changes that I don't care for. One being they changed the location of the charger/usb port to the side--it is harder to insert the cable and likely that I'll break off the rubber part they include to cover the port. With the old version, I never noticed the flash going off twice before taking the picture (which I assume is for focus or red eye), but now the delay is a hassle and when taking pictures of people, they assume the shot is taken and move before the shutter actually captures the image. I do like the new modes, they make it a little bit easier for beginners to use the program modes. I don't like that the black and white option is on the dial--it took me a few minutes while at an event to figure out why it was in black and white, when I had never set it to do that, and it's because the dial had accidently been turned while in my bag. So I would suggest getting to know the camera pretty well before taking it to something important (always a good plan anyway) because not all of the settings are ultra obvious to turn off or on. Overall, I think it's a very nice camera for a very reasonable price, there are just a few things that I'm not sure why they changed them from the original.

5 comments about Samsung NV10 10.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom with Advance Shake Reduction.
  1. Just bought NV10 a month ago before i traveled to Europe. Great point and shoot camera with many features. May be 10 Mega pix are a bit too much for amateur like me. Hope one who wants to buy a new camera like it.

  2. Stylish Sleek! and Slim! Samsung NV10 is a great digital camera. It is easy to use and carry.

  3. I have a Nikon D80 Digital SLR and an older Sony DSC-V1 digital camera. But I wanted a smaller camera that I could easily carry around everywhere and use at any time.

I tried the Canon Elph, the Nikon Coolpix, and others in a local camera store. But they were either too slippery to hold, or too big/heavy, or lacked a decent wide angle, or didn't support decent manual modes. Then I tried the NV10. WOW!

    SMART TOUCH
The camera manual is a little vague about this. Swipe-and-pause (not press) from one button to its neighbor scrolls pictures one-by-one. Swipe-and-pause across more buttons scrolls faster through multiple pictures. To keep scrolling without swiping over and over, swipe-and-pause but end on the very last button on the left, or on the second-to-last button on the right.

The Zoom button lets you zoom out to view multiple thumbnails in a photo album view (swipe-and-pause to scroll left/right/up/down) and then zoom in for the full view of a selected picture.

    SIZE/GRIP
This camera is skinny! I have (previously) uploaded a picture to Amazon showing the camera with a dime for comparison.

It has a decent grip, and it's slightly longer than most of the other comparable cameras I tried. But you could try it in a store to decide for yourself.

    PICTURE QUALITY
It only supports JPG (no TIFF or RAW formats). By default, it's set on JPG Medium, but you can set it to JPG Fine.

To give you a sense of the colors, the grain, issues with the image at the corners, low-light handling, and shake reduction (or not), I have previously uploaded an uncropped picture of some jelly fish (at an aquarium), taken handheld with no flash in Automatic mode. The only light was from the soft/dim light inside the tanks. The room was dark because these jellies don't tolerate light well.

    MANUAL SETTINGS
You usually only get two F stop choices available at any time. (F2.8 and F7.1 commonly appear, but the these choices change when you zoom.)

    SHAKE REDUCTION
The ASR is digital, not optical. So, it's not the same as having a vibration reduction lens. (Also, the manual indicates that you need to enter a special shooting mode to get the ASR. So, apparently you don't get ASR most of the time.)

    SD CARD
The manual guarantees compatibility with 1GB max. I haven't tried a 2GB card yet.

The camera also has 20MB of internal memory built in, so you can actually take a couple of pictures even *before* you buy a card (or after you fill up a card).

    REMOTE
There's a remote available in certain countries, but I have yet to see it available (by itself, at least) in the US.

    BATTERY LIFE
Once you get past the newbie need to use up battery life while fiddling with learning to use the camera, it doesn't seem too bad. The batteries are very small (as shown in my uploaded picture), so it's easy to carry a couple of extras.

    ZOOM
The 3X optical zoom is OK. The newer Samsung NV11 has a 5x optical zoom (but maybe Samsung traded that for something that I would miss). The NV7 has a 7X optical zoom (but it's a bigger camera).

I've had the NV10 for nearly a year now, and I'm pleased with it.

  4. The camera itself is OK, no complaints. However at some point it was damaged and sent to Samsung for repair. That turned out to be a naightmarish experience. I don't recommend buying a Sumsung camera because if you ever need it serviced, you will have to deal with the most incompetent bureaucrocy that will loose your camera and will keep you on phone for hours inventing various excuses of why the camera is lost. For closest approximation of the Samsung customer service read Frantz Kafka's "Trail". The book will cost you less than the camera here on Amazon, but the impressions will be the same.

  5. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS CAMEERA. IT IS SMALL AND TAKES VERY SHARP PICTURES. ANTI SHAKE WORKS GREAT. HAVE NOT HAD ANY DIFFICULITIES USING ALL THE FEATURES OF THIS CAMERA.

  1. Specs: (Not in Amazon's description)
    720p Normal - ~1200kbps 30FPS SDEG AVI w/ 22kHz Stereo ADPCM
    720p Fine - ~1800kbps 30FPS SDEG AVI w/ 22kHz Stereo ADPCM
    720p Super Fine - ~4000kbps 30FPS SDEG AVI w/ 22kHz Stereo ADPCM
*Determined with Winamp and Media Player Classic.

The normal and fine quality settings both look really bad. The super fine quality setting is decent and performs acceptably in low light when the picture gets grainy. I would consider this to be DVD quality, and would look just fine on a normal television.

Here are some things you can only learn by using the device:
    - You can record with the display closed!
    - There is no startup sound, and you can turn off the menu beeps.
    - Menu navigation can be a bit slow, but is by no means annoying.
    - You can do a slow zoom using the directional pad on the screen.
-There is a bit of DITHER in the audio from, and the STEREO MICs pick up wind.

On automatic exposure, I was unable to pick anything up at night, but results are better with the exposure maxed out in manual mode. I don't think this camera is suitable for night filming at all. One can boost the brightness and contrast in a video editor, (I use +.3 brightness and +.7 contrast in Vegas) but the end result is a blocky video.

Rewind and fast forward in preview mode are a bit slow and choppy but playback is smooth.

I may be selling this and buying a DV camera. With DV, you sacrifice some durability, but you get a better quality in return.

  2. This is my first camcorder and was purchased to record a new baby. It is very easy to use and produces nice clips. The Easy-Q button sets up the lighting and other settings great!

  3. If you are looking for a camera with "true" 16:9 recording capability **DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA** as the 16:9 format is nothing other than stretched out 4:3. I saw someone make this comment and thought it cannot be that big of deal. But then after I shot my first video (and realized the images being recorded are in many cases things you see in person i.e. Kids, Pets etc) and they look nothing like what you know them to look like (unless of course you want to watch your recorded footage in 4:3 which is a complete waste of your investment into an HDTV). If you do not have a 16:9 TV and never plan to get one, this camera, for the money, is tough to beat.

I sent it back and ordered a Cannon with TRUE 16:9 recording capabilty.

  4. Owners of this product. Please post a video review of this product and let the quality or lack there of speak for itself. Thanks

  5. I paid $169 for this digital camcorder and it has features I will probably never use. I read all the pros and cons and realized the cons are all operator head space and timing. Read the directions and this is one great camera.

5 comments about Samsung Digimax S630 6MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Advanced Shake Reduction Zoom (Silver).
  1. I brought this camera in April this year and it was my best purchase since. It is perfect, the quality is great and yes there may be a lag between pictures but hey my friend has a Nikon and a Sony and those cameras have the same lag time as this one.
I would recommend anyone to purchase this cam, and please don't study people when they say the camera has no battery life- you not suppose to use normal batteries on ANY digital camera because it will only last a few minutes. I bought a rechargeable pack batteries and it works jus fine.
For the price this is the perfect camera and it is HIGHLY recommended by me.

  2. Okay, so you pick up the camera. The first thing you feel is the cheap plastic. We're not talking the same plastic most digital cameras are made of; this is CHEAP! Without batteries, it is by far the lightest digital camera I have ever held. That is already a turn off in my opinion. I doesn't look or feel, in any way, durable. I'm afraid of squeezing it too hard in the anticipation it will crack. Not good.

It has the same amount of buttons and switches most point and shoot cameras possess, the power button, the shutter button, a menu button, etc. The one thing it does have that most don't is the turntable switch to choose different modes of shots, which is usually only found on SLRs. I don't know if Samsung thought this would be appealing to people. It certainly makes switching shots quicker, but it's not going to cancel out the horrible body.

The startup time of the camera is quite fast with no welcome screen, so that's good. The first thing that I want to do is get in there and setup the size of the image. But, wait! It's nowhere to be found. 2816x2112 seems to be the only resolution this camera takes. But, I later discover that you have to press the trash can button to change image sizes. It's not in the menu where you would find it in most cameras.

So, after I have the images fine tuned, I go to take a shot. I have a stuffed moose that sits on my desk and I use it as a prop for most of my photo taking lately. It seems no matter what setting I set it on, Portrait, Scene, Manual, ASR, Program, Auto, or Night Scene, this camera will NOT focus on the moose, no matter how far away from it I am (we're talking within 5 feet or so). Now, most of the other cameras I've tested will focus within 2 feet of the moose. This is rediculous.

I take a picture of a different subject that the camera WILL focus on and wait for the Eye-Fi to upload it. IMMEDIATELY I notice noise in every shot. I thought this was just the jenky LCD screen that they used with the camera. Nope, it's the image itself. There is no reason why this camera should have so much noise.

I'm done toying with this camera by now. There is nothing that is going to bring my rating above one star. NOTHING.

I do not recommend this camera whatsoever. And the price that it is selling for? You have got to be kidding me. This is NOT a great camera for the price. If you gave this camera more than 2 stars, you have obviously never owned another digital camera before, or this is your second digital camera, with the preceding being manufactured in 1999. Horrid.

  3. Quick camera features review:
runs on 2 AA batteries, either nimh or alkaline (I rec: nimh)
2 GB memory card has space for over 1200 photos at 6mp. (not included)
optical and digital zooms, optional image stabilization,
various single picture modes, video, programmable, timer mode, manual aperture (etc)...
big bright display on the back, fairly easy to use controls. Not to small.
Automatic dust cover closes on power-off.

The things I like about it, and why I bought it: it supports about as many modes as my older full-size Olympus (cost over 3x as mych), uses AA batteries (any kind), has a big viewer, uses commonly available media cards, is fairly small (bar of soap), common mini-usb plug to transfer pictures, cost less than $100. 6 megapixel.

It may not have the optics or ultra-clarity of a $1500 SLR, but for a "toss in the backpack or car and use as desired" camera, it going to be hard to beat.

  4. I keep this camera in my service truck for those broken parts that has little or no description in the service manual or parts books. The NiMh batteries I use is rated for 2600MH and seems to keep the charge for three months.

The truck is cold on cold days but the camera starts right up. When the batteries dies or not work from cold, I use the NiMh batteries from my AA led flash light.

I rate this a 4 star; I need a viewfinder when it bright sunlight and It's hard to focus.

  5. This a is an overall good camera. Great pics, lots of different options, but the reason i give it 2 stars is because Of battery life.

The batteries on my camera last barely 5 minutes, usually around 3 1/2-
4 mins.. Ive gone through 2 22 packs of double a batteries in the 3 weeks ive had it.

Ive decided just to leave it rather than sped wayy more money on double A's.

    Pros:
    Great pictures
    Lots of cool options
    light
    inexpensive
Compatible with many different types of cards
    Takes Relatively good movies.

    Cons
    Low battery life
    Lot of shutter lag
there appears to be no battery savers option
NO VIEWFINDER Just BATTERY EATING lcd screen.

  1. My Canon PowerShot S50 developed a twitchy on and off syndrome and finally stopped working altogether while on vacation in Germany so I looked at what I could get for about 150 Euros and ended up picking the Samsung L100 with 2 GB RAM. It had image stabilization, more megapixels (8.1) and a percieved quality about it that attracted me, although I didn't know that I could have gotten it for much less here. I am embarrassed to admit that I had to go back to the store for them to show me how to use the self timer, because the quick start manual didn't show how and I couldn't figure it out myself. All I had to do was to press the multi control button right side repeatedly until the timer icon comes up and by pressing the right side of that button repeatedly you select the 2 or 10 second option. Then postion the camera and hit the trigger button and it works fine, with little flashes of light telling you when to get ready by increasing in frequency until it shoots a picture. It has a fairly advanced red eye protection system that works well. I am happy I bought it because the other options available were for more money or for less features at that price. The pictures it takes are very nice.Samsung L100 8.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver)

  2. I bought it for my niece. She needed something small, easy to use and light to carry around. this was the perfect camera. She loves it and now I am the greatest aunt in the world!

  3. I was not happy with this product. The shutter speed is very slow so it took forever to capture a shot, and by then the subject had moved. I took about 25 pictures of random things including my cats and the children I work with to familiarize myself with the camera. When I turned it on later to look through them all the shots had been deleted by the camera. It just was not worth the price!
