- A fair camera for outdoors, but my picturetaking is mostly at family gatherings, and all I see is red eyes, and some more red eyes.Useless indoors.
- This is a very small camera in size, but LARGE in capability. I consistently get sharp mages with this camera. It is quiet and very unobtrusive. The zoom is smooth and the flash has plenty of power when used with 200 or 400 film. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a camera to carry with them all the time.
- I purchased the camera in March 2000 and it stopped working promptly after purchase. I figured I'd give it the benifit of the doubt and had it replaced under warranty. Now that the warranty has expired the camera has stopped working again. It's a good litte camera for the money as long as you realize it may not last you very long.
- It's compact, durable, simple to operate, and takes great pictures! Have had absolutely no problems with the camera for the 3 years I've owned it!!
- The user who complained of "red eyes" should note that there is a red-eye setting on the camera which eliminates these concerns. It makes decent enough pictures, and especially when compared to disposable cameras, you'd really be better off with one of these if you can find it for under $20.
APS cameras are really difficult to find these days, and they have their own pros and cons:
Pros:
- Three ratios for shooting (4x6in, 4x7in, 3.5x10in panorama).
- Loading film is easier than tying a shoelace.
- Index prints with every roll (so you can easily pick out snapshots to make reprints or to enlarge).
- Film is safer from the threats of overexposure, since it's enclosed.
Cons:
- Slightly more difficult to find film for than a 35mm.
- Smaller image area (by about 25%).
I've been reasonably happy with mine, and mostly used it on vacations or for general photography. There's no way I'd recommend this to anyone serious about art photography, so it's funny that the thing can actually be mounted on a tripod.

- I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA IN SEOUL SOUTH KOREA. THE CAMERA CAME WITH A REALLY GOOD LEATHER CASE WITH A LOOP SO THAT IT IS CARRIED ON MY BELT. I TRAVEL MOSTLY TO THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES AND THE CAMERA HAS NEVER FAILED ME. I USED IT TO MAKE INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS OF CHILDREN IN A SHELTER IN GUATEMALA, NONE HAD EVER HAD A PHOTO MADE, THEY TURNED OUT REALLY GOOD AND THE KIDS WERE VERY EXCITED. IT IS VERY EASY TO USE, JUST SET THE DIAL FOR THE SUBJECT MATTER, POINT AND SHOOT....ONLY MINOR PROBLEM IS SOMETIMES THE FILM DOES NOT LOAD EASILY AND ANOTHER TRY IN NEEDED. I HAVE NIKON AND CANON SLR'S BUT THEY DONT TRAVEL WELL. GO AHEAD AND BUY THE SAMSUNG, I JUST CAME BACK FROM THE AMAZON RAIN FOREST WITH LOTS OF FILM AND NO PROBLEMS.

- I got this camera just recently and must say that it is exactly what it appears to be - a good camera for a price that won't have you cringing when you get the bill - I tried out a few "zoom" cameras before this, and I was much more impressed with the zoom in this camera (it was very smooth whereas the others tended to be slightly jerky). The camera itself is also very user friendly.
- I read prior reviews of the Samsung 105 where complaints of missed shots were made. My Samsung 105 GLM was bought & tested by me before this review. I'd had two automatic tiny point & shoots including a non-zoom Konica (a heckuva fine camera, too) that was used by my wife for about a dozen years. I'd learned to depress the shutter button halfway for a split second to allow preset commands and auto focus to work properly and never had a missed shot even on a jet boat in Hell's Canyon white water! This is in the Samsung manual!
My experience with the S-105 GLM proved it to be a solid- if tiny & pocket sized, full-featured quality device for comparatively little money. No, I am not in any camera business nor am I affiliated with Samsung or Amazon, but I have been a camera semi-pro for much of my 80 years! My work had been used, too, in many court cases when I was sworn.
- I took this on a trip down the Rhine with a friend. She had her Cannon EOS Rebel 2000 and I gotta tell you, all my shots came out much better than hers and I paid $200.00 less! The colors were more vivid, the shots were sharp and in perfect focus, even the zoom shots.
My mother used this camera at my wedding and her shots came out better than the photographers! And she usually takes horrible pictures! (She can consistently get her thumb in every shot!) What a great camera. However..... The lens cover tends to stick open and I am afraid the lens will get scratched. Also, it doesn't have the night portrait mode and I really thing that is a great mode to have for travel.
- I absolutely love this camera. I paid $170 3 years ago and it was a great investment. I have never had any problems with it. The zoom is the best feature about this camera. I've been able to take some awesome pictures of the moon with 1600 speed film. Great camera!

5 comments about Samsung Maxima 70GL Power Zoom 35mm Camera.
- I could NOT get the film to load properly; the display kept flashing an error message, even after trying 2 different rolls of film. A week later, I went to a camera store and mentioned that I'd bought this camera off the 'net and the trouble I'd had with it. The salesperson took THEIR display camera and had exactly the same difficulty with it. Obviously, this unit has some problems.
- I recieved the Samsung 70GL Power Zoom Ultra Compact Camera as a birthday present. It was given to me early so I could take pictures of my daily events during my vacation. I did have trouble loading the film. On several tries, I had to open the loading 'bay' and replace the film. I belive I might have exposed several frames on the roll just to get it to take. Is there some type of problems out there with this particular camera? and if so, is there a fix for them? Please let me know I would like to take full advantage of this product!
- This camera definitely has some major problems with its film loading system. Like the other reviewers, I couldn't load the film in even after too many tries. A very disappointing product.
- I bought this camera for my teenage son. The pictures were crisp and the features very easy to use. On a recent vacation, my personal camera broke and I used my son's camera. I was very surprised that the pictures I took with it were as good or better than the ones I had taken with a more expensive camera.
- I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH MY SAMSUNG CAMERA PURCHASE. ALSO, THE SERVICE FROM AMAZON WAS GREAT. I JUST HAD MY FIRST SET OF PICTURES DEVELOPED AND THEY CAME OUT EXCELLENT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA TO EVERYONE.

- I lost a camera just like this and wanted to finmd the dame thing. Just as the one I lost this one i great and was glad to find the same thing. Wouldnt have wanted to replace it if I didnt like it so well in the first place
- The camera is easy to set up. It's also a lot of fun to use. My wife loves it. She wanted a 35 mm camera. This one was inexpensive but gave you high quality photo's. I highly recommend this camera if you want to use film instead of digital.

5 comments about Samsung Evoca 140S QD Zoom Date 35mm Camera.
- Based on the two other sterling reviews and the recommendation of a local camera store, I purchased the Evoca 140S in August. I hesitated because after reading reviews for other Samsung models, I read two very different viewpoints...the camera was fantastic, or the camera was a piece of junk.
After having the camera for less than two months, the red eye reduction and the back light feature stopped working today. When the camera worked the pictures were fairly good. However, I've now spent over $... (with shipping) for a camera that is already defective. I wish I'd purchased it from a local store, because at least (with many stores) I could return it. I will now have to deal directly with Samsung, reputed to have horrible customer service. I hope anybody considering buying a Samsung camera will listen to my experience, as well as that of other Samsung purchasers (Amazon reviews....other models.) I had a Samsung vcr break within the first year, and between that and the other negative reviews I thought "no way will I buy a Samsung"...but then the praise for this model (and the lack of negative reviews) changed my mind....I consider that my $... mistake. P.S. the motor is very loud when loading, advancing or rewinding. This would be a problem if you needed to take pictures in a quiet situation. Update: 6/03: after getting the camera fixed at our expense (Samsung Customer service never responded or helped), it has worked fine but I would like to point out one other drawback. In automatic mode, the flash takes a full 10 seconds to recharge. 10 seconds feels like forever when a posed group is waiting for you to take a second picture, or if you're in a situation where the action doesn't wait for you (indoors graduation last week)....even with 800 speed film I had to wait 10 seconds...I'm sure that somebody proficient in cameras would know a way around this, but for the average person who wants a "point and shoot" camera with zoom capacity, it's a huge drawback. For this reason alone, if I could do it over I'd buy a different camera.
- I don't know how the camera will hold up in the long run but we just got back from Las Vegas and the photos that were taken with this camera were just beautiful. Extremely sharp, great (hand held) night photos, colours were great. We are extremely pleased with the results and hope the camera will be with us for a long time.
- I can easily say that Samsung Evoca 140S is the best point-and-shoot camera I have ever used.
The pros and cons of this camera in my opinion are as follows: (+) The camera is very small and extremely lightweight. Samsung has done an excellent job in squeezing loads of features in such a small space. (+) Variety of shooting modes: I won't list every shooting mode here and take your time (you can check them out in product details), but it has *a lot* of shooting modes for a point-and-shoot camera, including panaromic mode. When taking a panaromic shot, the camera adjusts the viewfinder so that you can actually see the shot in panaromic mode before shooting (didn't see this feature in many cameras). (+) Flash modes: Evoca140 has a number of flashing modes. To me, the most important 'flash features' were: 1) red-eye reduction, and 2) the ability to take photos at night. Red-eye reduction works perfectly (didn't have a single red-eye in about 30 rolls), and the flash is powerful enough to take good pictures at night. When using a flash is impossible (for example, when taking a photo of a distant object at night), you can use the bulb mode to take beautiful pictures (However, make sure that you have a tripod for this). (+) Power save: I don't really know if this is a common feature among point-and-shoot cameras, but, I like the 'power save' feature of this camera. It shuts itself down after 30 seconds if there is no user interaction. (+) The 4x zoom works perfectly: The clarity and color of pictures were perfect in the entire 38-140mm range. (-) The only drawback in my opinion is the buttons on the top side of the camera (which are used for flash modes / date-time / captioning etc). They are very small and a little hard to push. Forget about adjusting the flash mode when you have your gloves on :) But given the size of the camera, I probably shouldn't complain about the size of the buttons. To summerize: Given the price of Evoca 140S, it is an excellent buy for a point-and-shoot camera.
- This camera has many features that others don't.The price is reasonable and the camera is very appealing to the eye.The only thing I don't like about the camera is when the film is advancing it's a bit too loud. Other than that I love this camera.
- May I recommend that the user, who complained about the red-eye effect not working, tha he / she checks the camera setting? If it is not on the regular -A- setting, red eye feature doesn't work. Other settings include sports, landscape and etc.. (One good thing about this camera is its multi-functions and features, which can be bad for people who get confused and frustrated easily - I am one of them)
I can understand the frustration of the buyer who gave one star because of poor reliability. I have experienced similar cases in the past when buying electronics, but not with this camera. It has been money-well-spent and the first battery I put in, it lasted more than two years (I took at least more than 300 shots with the first battery). If you have more money, I recommend Evoca 170 which gives you more range.

- I have to say that this is an excellent camera. It is super easy to use, lightweight, afforable and the photos come out clear and precise. I work in a gallery and I wanted something that was more versitle than my manual Nikon for documenting events, artwork and to use later this year traveling. I feel confident recommending this product for vertually any camera user, both amature and professional!
- I love this camera. It's very reliable and user-friendly. It's by far the best standard one-piece 35mm camera I've ever had.
- This is a lovely camera, has all the features, and they work wonderfuly. A word to the wise, though. Go to Ebay(where I got mine), nobody needs to pay retail for these guys, they aren't THAT good.
- This is a great little camera with some features I have barely explored after using it steadily for 4 years, in both city and way out there back country.
The only problem I have had was with the flimsy little plastic leaves that cover the lens when the camera is off. Apparently they were damaged by grit in some of that windy back country, but they were easily replaced. This camera is so reliable and easy to use, I sent mine to Africa for 3 months with my son, a true photography novice. I would buy another in an instant if I could find a place that still has one in stock.
- I have had this camera for 5 years and it has worked wonderfuly. This was my first zoom camera. Its size made it perfect to take anywere. pictures Are always clear and bright. I noticed that the camera worked best on 200 speed film. Great camera for begainners that want to use film.
