  1. This book lives up to its title. With a strong fetish and bdsm element, it depicts a multitude of the most 'interesting' situations all photographed in ways that bring out the model's personalities whether they be submissive or dominating in nature.
The only downside is the page sizes are a little small, and some images are printed many to a page in a thumbnail style.

  1. Really a great format book. Full of beautiful India pictures. High quality paper. All pictures are full page size, and some of them are three or four pages size.
greatest Indian palaces, cities... are inside. Some pictures are so real than you think can touch the walls, the furniture... you can forget you're seen photos, and think than you are in. If you like great format books, great photos, if you like India... you need this piece of art.

  2. Amit Pasricha's photographs are simply fabulous, in most cases better than seeing these places in person. Shortcomings are: 1) Poor binding. The book falls apart after the first few times of opening, even with great care. 2) The index at the back is inconveniently located. You have to flip all the way to the back to find out what each image is. A real pain in such a heavy book, esp. with the poor binding. I am not sure why Amazon has it listed as "by Amin Nath", since all the pictures are by Amit Pasricha.

5 comments about Anne Geddes: My Pregnancy Wall Calendar (Anne Geddes).
  1. I searched through many pregnancy calendars and found this one to be easy to use. The pictures are lovely and the stickers provided outlining significant events during the pregnancy were fun. There is a place to jot down information each month about your doctor's visit. There is space to also write-in any additional information you desire on the date. I highly recommend this product.

  2. Got this for Christmas, and opened it right away to find beautiful photography of the sweetest babes! Has plenty of room to write specifics from each doctor visit and belly growth. Also, has stickers to mark special moments or cravings and such! This will be saved along with my baby's baby book!

  3. It is very useful.
You can record very important events.
    It bring you some advices.

  4. Excellent product, lots of stickers to record special moments and pocket at back to store things too.

  5. This is a beautifully illustrated calendar. I bought it for myself, but it would make a really nice gift for someone expecting. Lots of room to write information on important dates and stickers too!!

5 comments about Marilyn Monroe: A Life in Pictures.
  1. This gorgeous, classy book encompasses the lifespan of the young Norma Jeane Baker/Mortenson, from lonely little girl to unknown young model, and through her metamorphosis into luminous superstar Marilyn Monroe, as well as into the last days of her life. The story is told through photographs.

It is full of beautiful b&w and color photos, both portraits and unposed snapshots, many of which I haven't seen before. There are also many quotes included, both by MM and about her, and there is a brief timeline at the end of the book that gives an overview of many of the important events in her life. The very short biography at the beginning of the book is a bit drab, but the main story here is, of course, the pictures, which encompass so many of the moments of her life.

If you never got the chance to own Spada's "Monroe: Her Life in Pictures," this would make a nice replacement. This is a wonderful and eclectic gathering of photos, and would be an attractive addition to any MM library.

  2. A must have for any Marilyn Monroe fan.
This book is full of rare and beautiful photos!
I own several Marilyn books and this is one of
the best photographic books I have seen.
The amazon price for this book can't be beat.
Recomended for the collector looking for
    stunning Marilyn photos.

  3. I purchased this book as a Christmas present for my sister who is a big Marilyn fan, and I think she is going to be ecstatic when she opens this present. The book is just full of wonderful pictures that bring to life Marilyn! This is a coffee table book that any fan of Monroe would be glad to have on their coffee table. The images span her life and career and include the many of the iconic glamour shot, but what is really cool are the many candid snap shots that help bring into focus the real person behind the image. Once I started paging through this beautiful book I could not stop! I have to be careful or I am going to have to buy another copy! I also just finished reading the soon to be released Misfits Country a fictional behind the scenes look at the Making of The Misfits Marilyn is the central character...must have for Marilyn fans!

  4. In the book possible to find amazing pictures, some of them I have never chance to seen before. Good quality of the pictures and a lot to find inside.

  5. I've got to say, the pictures in this book are amazing. The book is a little bigger than a notebook, and the pictures are just about full size, making them about 8x10. Which is great if you want to put them on your wall.

My only complaint about the pictures are: although there are about 2 or 3 pictures of her on the beach with the white bathing suit on, that's it. Why not put more of them, they are some of Marilyn's best pictures. Also, the pictures of her in the field in the blue dress, why not more? As is with the pictures of her in the field with the white dress. I don't understand.

I love all of the pictures of her at home in a relaxed state.

But the one thing that sensitive Marilyn Monroe fans might not like is the Foreword. David Thompson almost seems not to like her. But no one knows the exact truth about Marilyn's life, so the stuff he says may be true. If so, I feel sorry for her.

I don't know what to think of her, since I've read so much about her from different people. But it seems like she was a very complex person. Like myself, people don't know what to think about her. That's what I think draws me to her even more. I used to just love her for her wonderful pictures, but now it's fun learning more about her.

Although Mr. Thompson's foreword kind of irked me a little, this book is well worth it to a Marilyn fan or fan of beautiful pictures.

I hope this review helped someone. It's my first review, thanks for reading.

5 comments about Paul Newman: A Life in Pictures.
  1. As overseas pickups from France's Editions PHYB, the 'Life In Pictures' series make decent enough coffee table books though much of their success as a project truly depends on the subject at hand. By creating a compendium of photographs taken by various sources throughout one's early days and public career, the books are only as interesting as the photographic subjects they chronicle. For the Newman book, the chronology covers his early days in acting school, his famed long-term marriage to actress Joanne Woodward, starring roles in films like Hud, Paris Blues, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy, Winning and The Sting, to his passion as a race car driver and team owner at the 24 hours of LeMans, Daytona and the Long Beach Grand Prix. While Newman's sense of family, career highlights and philanthropic strains come though in the main, the whole history is rather shortchanged with a scant eight-page biography supplemented by selected quotes scattered throughout the book. While clearly meant to be a picture book, the images appear inconsistent and random (i.e. for the film for which he finally won the Oscar for Best Actor, Marty Scorsese's 'The Color of Money,' Newman is only represented in the book by the movie's one-sheet poster) and thus fail to paint nearly a compelling enough portrait of what is generally regarded as one of America's most revered actors. PHYB is coming with a similar 'Life in Pictures' edition this fall on Marilyn Monroe (also to be distributed by Chronicle in the US). One would expect that this kind of light-on-copy, heavy-on-pics treatment would be more well suited to that subject indeed.

  2. Being that my husband and I are huge Paul Newman fans made this book a real family treasure. We've enjoyed his films over the years and seeing him on these pages brings back many fond memmories. I only wished that more of his photographs in character had been made available. Paul's various character roles were all so exciting like; Juan Carrasco, "Fast" Eddie Felson, and Ben Quick just to name a few. This edition was well worth the money and will be enjoyed for years to come.

  3. As a Actor, Family Man , CEO of Newman's Own Products .Mr. Paul Newman is a real professional and a remarkable person. This book captures him in all these and more of his great and quiet moments. The pictures are worth there weight in having this book. Paul Newman loves water can be seen threw some of his films. this book will make you view all of his films. A real man for all seasons.

  4. Very well done. Many interesting photographs, large - and cover his entire career, very young and older... Text on his life, including his childhood is very well done, interesting, and enlightening. If you like Paul Newman, you will be very happy with this book.

    Cindy Mueller
    Chicago, IL

  5. This book has everything you ever wanted to see about Newman's life and you never dared to see.

5 comments about Digital SLR Astrophotography (Practical Amateur Astronomy).
  1. After reading Michael's previous works I was prepared for a good and thorough treatise on astrophotography with digital SLR's. Unfortunately this book doesn't do that. $37 gets you a modest 234 page, soft bound book that could be described as more of a draft outline than a valuable reference work.

Images Plus, possibly the most powerful and economical commercial astrophotographic image processing and camera control program available today only gets briefly mentioned in passing twice in this book.

And there is nothing whatsoever on imaging the sun, h-alpha image processing techniques or solar eclipse techniques and equipment.

Many other subjects are treated rather too lightly to justify the price of this book too.

I believe that Jerry Lodriguss's book "A Guide To Astrophotography with Digital SLR's" is a much more useful work however it isn't exactly worth it's $40 price tag either.

There is more useful and thorough information available on the Internet for free. Start with the Digital Astro Yahoo discussion group and then supplement with Jerry Lodriguss and Paul Hyndman's web sites.

  2. Wonderful book. The natural prosecution of the first volume of the author. Just a little bit disappointed about the cost. Too expensive for a 200 pages book

  3. No matter how much you know...there is always much more to learn. Thats the feeling I got after reading this book. I thought I knew a bit about photography and image processing, but it appears my knowledge had as many holes in it as a block of Swiss cheese. If you are new to astrophotography, this book should be your bible. If you already know a bit, there are still topics you may not have even considered. Highly recommended for the serious amatuer.

  4. In first place, I bought this book because of it was recommended from Sky and Telescope.
But, when having it on my hands and after reading it I found:
1- Author is making constant references to his other two books, with no further explanations (if you want to know more, BUY my other books).
2- Book is soft cover and pictures are black and white.
3- Has many formulas. Amateurs want a "hands-on" style, not making calculations that show the author as "how much I know", that's not practical.
4- Many parts are really useful, and some others don't.
5- Some parts look like a handful of advices that you can find everywhere on the net.
6- He explains methods, that end up with author saying like "despite of this method I prefer..." and then he mentions another one. A waste of time!
7- Add the book cost, and this is not a deal.
Hope my review can be helpful to other people that as me, thought this book was a real good one (before purchase).

  5. Michael Covington's new book contains the latest information, it was published in December of 2007, on recent cameras' and their features that apply to digital astrophotography. The author, after covering the DSLR features, makes informed recommendations regarding their use for astrophotography. I highly recommend this book.

  3. The photos were fantastic! The written material was very interesting and the fact that Johnny's own words were included made the material much more interesting and memorable. I truly enjoy having this book and look forward to adding more Johnny Depp books, DVD's , etc. to my collection.

  1. This is my third year purchasing the same calendar.

I started with the 2007, and am currently using the 2008. I liked it so much that I have purchased the 2009 calendar as well. The pictures in the 2008 calendar and the 2007 calendar are different and lovely. However, I prefer the 2007 calendar pictures above the 2008 and 2009 pictures. Still, that's just me quibbling, it doesn't make this calendar any less worthwhile to own.

I remain very impressed that this calendar lists not only federal holidays and Christian holidays, but also holidays of the Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, and Wiccan faiths. Phases of the moon are noted as well. This information is not typically noted on other calendars (I've made special effort to track them down or request them, to no avail).

About the calendar format: paper quality is good, and there is enough room for those of us who enjoy using the calendar as a datebook. There is plenty of room to scribble in information on what you need to get done that day. You will not regret purchasing this calendar.

One note: I am not certain why this calendar does not ship directly from Amazon.com, as it did in past years. Hopefully, that will be changing as we move closer to the end of the year. Paying $8 shipping on a $15 calendar is a stupid idea. Much better to get the free Amazon shipping by purchasing more stuff to bring the total to $25.
