5 comments about Nikon D50 Digital Field Guide.
- This book is a big help for the beginner to digital photography, with very easy to understand illustrations and tips. It is a good tool to keep close to your camera bag for quick and easy reference.
- Why do manufacturers of such splendid kit as the D50 supply such impenetrable manuals? It wasn't until I bought the D50 Field Guide that I was able to fathom and use many useful features. Excellent and heartily recommended. A bit big for my back pocket, but you can't have everything!
- The "Nikon D50 Digital Field Guide" is more than just that it is a D50 owners necessity. This will easily explain how digital images taken specifically with your D50 gives insight to the menues and electronic functions of the D50.
- The D50 was my third DSLR after two Canons...a 10D and a 300D. I got this Nikon D50 and immediately liked it better than the Canons. So much so that I've already upgraded to a D70s, sold it and upgraded again to the D80. Now I'm looking for a good deal on the D300.
But, back to the D50 Field manual (which I sold with the D50). Good book, clear text and nice slick pages and color photos. Sure it talks a lot to generic DSLR photography but it also addresses specific functions of the D50 in great detail. Did I like it ...yeah! How much? Well...I'm waiting for my D80 Field manual to arrive and if I ever get the D300, well I'll probably get a Field manual for it too!! This is a Good Buy!!!
- I love the way the author walk me through on using the D50 by Nikon and his tips on photography was more than I expect on book about a camera. In fact the author inspired me to work harder with the camera and gave me wonderful ideas on using the camera.

5 comments about I & Dog.
- This book, "I & Dog", makes one aware of the special relationship between dog and man. The pictures are fantastic and the tidbits of understanding are insightful. Investigating these photographs and contemplating these prose leads one to the realization that man is the one getting the lions share out of these relationships. This is a "warm and fuzzy" book. It just makes you feel good.
- This is a lovely picture book with wonderful inspiring bits of writing interspersed which showcases the outstanding work the monks are doing with their dogs. However, those seeking hard-core how-to info on dog training will benefit more from the monks' other books: "How to be your Dog's Best Friend" and "The Art of Raising a Puppy."
- This book is full of wonderful images, clear and heartwarming.
The genuine love and dedication that the Monks have to these dogs, is clearly demonstrated by the expression on all the faces.
With insightful phrases and these wonderful pictures, this book is a gem to own.
- You have only to peruse the pages of this book to understand why it is possible to fall in love with a dog. The pages are simple, sensitive pictures and comment on the human/dog relationship. I have just gotten my first dog, or she has gotten me, and I will never be without one again:)
- The Monks of New Skete have 3 books that every dog owner should read. This is their third.

4 comments about Down the Rabbit Hole.
- Sizzling colors and figures of rare masculinity. There are art books and then there is this PHOTO ART EXTRAVAGANZA of A BOOK ! A surreal adventure in color/ content /and forms. Monroe pushes the edge of the envelope of virile exotic photography and then opens the lens even wider on it to show the world. This is a true pioneer of imagery .
Best of the Best. I am proud to own several of these books.
- Justin Monroe really takes his art to a new level! His use of color and theme are extraordinary! It's like waking up in a dream. Honestly, this is one of the best photography books out there! This book is BOLD and unapologetic in the most fantastic sense of the word! Do yourself a favor ... BUY THIS BOOK!!!
- Recently my best friend and inspiration Alexander Chang (Rocco) recently went to Los Angeles to do a photo session for photographer Justin Monroe's next book. Getting to see the photos and hear a little about Alexander's experience with Justin made me curious about him. He was getting ready for his first released book of photography "DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE" which is a collection of amazing models including Jessica Rabbit, Amanda Lepore, Gizelle, Ethan Reynolds, and Janice Dickeson. His website has some amazing previews of this book (www.justinmonroe.com) and I pre-ordered it here on Amazon.com
Yesterday afternoon I recieved this book...........this MASSIVE book "Down the Rabbit Hole" and it was everything I imagined and more!!! It was like going into your darkest fantasy and taking it further than you could imagine! This book is the most amazing thing I've ever seen, each photo, each page, each flash gives you so much that you have to study the page to ensure you don't miss anything. The way he can bring an image to life is what is going to make him the #1 most requested photographer in the world. Using religious, fairytale, and disturbing imagery he gives you photos you could never imagine, and will never forget!!
This book is absolutely amazing and if you're a fan of art, make up, photography, hot men, sexy women, the unusual, the visually appealing this book is for YOU!!!! I urge each of you to check out Justin's website and get a copy of "Down the Rabbit Hole" which is the best investment ever! As I told Alexander last night; "This book should replace the bible in hotel rooms everywhere!!"
Thank you for sharing your brilliance Justin, it is beyond amazing!
- Well I cant top that one, but i can give it an AMEN! I bought Justin Monroe's 'Down The Rabbit Hole' last week and I cant put it down. This guy is freaking dope! and this book is bound to be a classic! I would highly recomend it to anyone. It def left me wanting to see more from This Photographer! So yes two thumbs up! jesse

5 comments about An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar.
- For people who are interested in photo art Simons Book ist a must have. Her intelligently chosen situations - the hidden and unfamiliar - remind me in their cool and calm way of being photographed the work of Edward Hopper. Simon absolutely knows how to catch the right moment and the right light. You get a view deeply below the surface of our modern civilisation.
Beside of this, the book is of great heavy quality, it's worth its price.
Well done, Taryn!
- This subject matter and the photos are interesting, but as a book it is lacking. The book is what I would call 'pretentious', in that there is alot of space wasted in the pages to make it look more 'arty'. Waste of paper is waht I call it. The photos are also too small for the available paper space. All in all, good intentions, but the publisher seems to have ruined it. Not recommended.
- This book creates its own space in a way only a few can do. Its images are (almost all) just right - including the right size. They aren't large but they invite intense observation and they look terrific.
- it wasn't as i expected, small pictures, as unique as they were very few were visually stunning.
- I like the big white pages. To me, it feels like being in a gallery, without the background chatter and the one woman with too much perfume who talks too loud, you know who you are. All the white space lets you focus on just that photo, that moment. The detailed captions are a treat for the mind.
This isn't a book of snapshots. Each photo demands contemplation and admiration that she got consent to access this location. Except Disney, of course. Their letter of rejection and their reasoning at the end is droll, compared to what she was granted permission to capture. Several of these locations I knew of. Many I didn't. Some are upsetting, as they should be.
Bravo!

5 comments about The Photograph: Composition & Color Design.
- Harald Mante is one of the most renowned teachers of photography in Germany: here he explains elements of visual design in photographs for intermediate students and practicing photographers who want to add artistic elements to their results. Chapters cover what strengthens photos, where 'art' comes into play, and how design affects how a viewer sees an image. A text suitable for college-level art and photography collections as well as for classroom assignment.

- When I picked up "The Photograph: Composition & Color Design", it felt and looked like a textbook (and it was shrink-wrapped like one). But the title sounded good, and the author is well known in Europe as an author and instructor for many years. These inferences led me to make a bad conclusion as to the worth of this book to me.
I should have focused on the term "color design" in the title. This book is very technically oriented. While it does have over 600 photos and 160 diagrams (all very well done mind you), it was difficult for me to make sense of much of it. I get the full impression now that this book is geared for students of design and not a budding amateur. In reality, the concepts are just too much for the average layman (and I am not an uneducated person). It felt like I was being told, in very technical terms, why I like the color interaction or composition of certain pictures. I really don't need to know why, in my opinion. If I like something, I like it - simple as that.
If you are a student of design or photography, this book would make sense to you. It is unfortunate though that "The Photograph: Composition & Color Design" is the first book I cannot recommend for an amateur like myself.
- If you have read Michael Freeman's book, the Photographer's Eye, and liked it and you have patience for a bit denser treatment, you should like this one. Just be prepared for a lot of flipping back and forth to look at examples. Like Freeman, Mante, builds the concepts from points up though colors and then veers off a bit to cover more general topics such as creative unsharpness. As with Freeman's book I'll be reding it more than once.
- Another wonderful book on photography by Harald Mante, but the English translation is too poor to read with ease - I wonder how it got passed the editorial review.
The book has many new pictures if one has read the previous "Color Design". Despite the poor translation, I still highly recommended it to anyone who wants to learn at detailed serious technical level.
Five-star for content, two for the English translation.
- I read this book in my motherlanguage, german. In deed Mante is a German university professor. No wonder he writes in a technical, sometimes not easy to understand style. Even in German I have to read some sentence once again for a complete understanding. May be that's the reason why the translation into english can't be perfect.
But the content is worth any cent.
Sorry for my poor english.

5 comments about A Privileged Life: Celebrating Wasp Style.
- This book breaks the cardinal rule of WASP style-- discretion! The book is basically all about the author, how very WASPy her upbringing was, and what paragons of style her various family members were. As if being born in a rich New England family was some sort of personal achievement. I agree with another reviewer that it could have been really interesting minus the self-absorption and plus information to make it relevant to readers who aren't personal friends of the author or her family-- some discussion of history, architecture, design and so on. As it is, flipping through for five minutes at the bookstore or library should be plenty to get the full effect, there's no need to buy the book.
- This book came fast, and was in perfect shape! Service couldn't have been better.
- The bookstore owner and I thought it was a parody, especially given the cover photograph. We paged through this book looking for evidence of humor or perhaps even depth in the analysis of the privileged life. We found neither.
- I found this book disappointing. it is a very shallow superficial look at a really interesting subject. It goes into no depth whatsoever, and the only wasps she knows anything about or portrays are her small new england family. It seems to be a strictly commercial try at making a little money with virturaly no real research or information.
- Flip through it at the library or bookstore..but not a worthy addition to the home collection.

5 comments about Bondage For Sex.
- Although the photography is visually appealing and the tone of the author sincere and light-hearted, as an educational text this book is basically worthless. If you want to look at interesting pictures for nifty bondage ideas, you might find value here. But if you want to have an idea of how to actually rig any of these positions, look elsewhere. The photos repeatedly skip steps, are utterly confusing, and are scarcely illustrative of actual rope tying and knotwork. I'm returning my copy immediately.
- Although the photography is simply gorgeous, you do have to actually read the book. Chanta explains all the knot tieing in the beginning of the book which you have to practice if you want to get any the positions right. If you can't figure out a knot, go back to where she explains it. simple as that.
Positions are hot! Useful! Playful! Fun! Just go for it and awaken your inner naughtyness.
p.s. I love that there isn't any psycho babble about bondage and people who partake like in Midori's books, just sex, more sex, and great sex.
- very interesting book very helpgul for amateurs
althought the drawings are not well shown and sometimes you can't figure out the steps for the knots
in general nice book
- Sadly, I cannot recommend this book to anyone. At first, I thought couples interested in light vanilla bondage would find this book useful, but then I realized it is not actually instructional in any useful way, as it lacks reliable visual and written step-by-step instructions. Then I thought a pro at rope bondage could be interested in this book - maybe such a person could improve upon the ties and scenarios presented. But then I realized they would probably already know superior, more restrictive ties because they were educated in proper safety techniques (which this book pretty well avoids). Then I thought, "Hey, maybe someone who likes erotic photography would be interested in this book!" But then I realized that the photos repeated and were generally lackluster shots meant to appear instructive in a book that is missing such instructions. Then I thought, "Well, the crows might like this book because the pages are shiny and glossy, and don't crows like shiny objects?" But then I discovered that crows steal shiny items because they:
1. mistake them for food,
2. want to aggravate humans,
3. enjoy collecting treasures.
But then I realized that this book was not edible nor was it a treasure, so I was not surprised to find that they did not even feign interest in the item. That is when I realized I could not think of anyone who could genuinely use this item, as a book or anything else. So, do not buy it, and if you do, just remember to recycle! (myself and the crows appreciate it)
- Finally an elegant coffee table-esque book that features simple bondage ties that are both easy to understand and functional.
If you seek a myriad of ties I suggest you lookup a Boy Scout page for that endeavor. Here you will find what every expert already knows, basic knots and how to apply them. In bondage that is all you really need. There are three basic ties and everything else is built upon that foundation.
This book manages to emphasize the beauty of the poses and ropework without overcomplicating the process. Of all the books in my collection I utilize this one's information more often than any other (sorry JD and Dan, I love your classes and performances but in the heat of the moment I am uninterested in creating a marionette).

5 comments about Golf Courses of the World: 365 Days.
- I purchased Golf of the World: 365 Days as prizes for our recent Ladies Open Day not only did they look fabulous on the trophy table they were the most sort after prizes on the day! The ladies who won them were delighted and have since contacted me telling me of the enjoyment they have given them (with photos to die for and destinations to dream about!) In all cases they are taking pride of place on their coffee tables with the added bonus of being able to visit a beautiful course whenever they wish at the mere flip of a page.

- This book is gorgeous and the pictures of the courses are breathtakingly beautiful. When I gave this book to my boyfriend's parents I got to see his Dad smile for the first time! Great coffee table book :)
- I bought this gift for my father-in-law for Christmas. It is an absolutely beautiful book and looks a lot more expensive that what I paid for it. It is well worth the price.
- I got this for a golf fanatic friend of ours and he loves it. Small size but lots of pages of wonderful golf courses. A great gift for any golf nut.
- My fiance and I bought this book to serve as a guest book at our wedding, since we love golf we thought it would be a cool place to look back at our guests notes, while enjoying the pictures. I didn't even realize when we bought it that it serves as a calendar too, which makes the book even more fun. Now, I am going to have my guests sign in under their birthdays, so I have a catalog of all their b-days. The pictures are of good quality and I like the fluffy descriptions of the courses. We are going to try to play as many of the courses as possible!

- This is a wonderful book. Full of beautiful photographs of many beautiful women. Makes a great coffee table book.
Not safe for kids!
- TNEP is a amazingly book very well done, with a interesting text on this subject. The finishing, paper, photo quality are outstanding. I recommend for all who love photography and beautiful women.
- This book is amazing. 600 hundred pages of pure beauty. Anyone who is not famaliar with erotic photographers, like myself, this is a wonderful book to start with. The cost of the book will set you back about the cost of a tank of gas. And unlike gas, you will have the book longer than a week. Every artist is a bit different from one another and shine in their own way. A great coffee table book. Except, i would absolutely put it away when the nephews are over, but not my parents. Classy and sexy. Buy this book now.
- This book is so full of great photography from so many talented contributors that anyone can find something to titillate and amuse them. There's no accounting for taste ofcourse but no matter what you crave theres a morcel for each and everyone included in this book. It covers the Mild to Wild territory. From fantastic to grotesque, from beautiful to baffling, from realistic to surreal....well need I say more? A great addition to anyone's collection of erotic photography.
- I just received this book today. It is full of erotic images as I expected. What I didn't expect to find was the pubic hair inside the book.
