- The pages of this pictorial opus expresses the legacy, struggle, beauty, misery, joy of Puerto Rico of days past. Second, third generation Puerto Ricans will reconnect with their roots page by page. This is surely an enlighting photo memoir of our People, the images speak louder then words. The power of photograph comes to light in these pages, and Delano did it so well. Delano saves the spirit of Puerto Rico's past, once thought to be lost with faded memories. This is a book to keep for oneself, it strenghtens one's soul.
- I simply love this book. As a starving college student, I still haven't come up with the money to buy it, but...someday I will. I've leafed through it a million times and never get bored by it...as a native Puertorrican living abroad, this is simply my favorite photographic work on my homeland. Delano did an amazing job.
- This book is fascinating! After spending an hour with this book I felt like I really knew what time has meant to Borinquen. Hearing family stories is one thing, but seeing pictures from when they were growing up is another. Anyone interested in Puerto Rican history should have this book.
- This is an amazing book. This book allow the reader to see the different changes than our island had been thru. Excellent.
- I can't belive how Mr. Delano took this pictures in a way that it seems they are telling you a complete story. In thi book you can see how Puerto Rico had differente eras and how progress came to our Island. It was not an easy process but you can see it thru the excellent work of Jack Delano. Children, Adults, workers, farmers, everybody even poor people have part in this book because they all were part of our history. An excellent work.

5 comments about Full Moon.
- A rare glympse at other-world light and shadow phenomena presented in photographs from an exciting time in our space journey. The presentation is a beautiful reminder that we were once there and need to go back to "check on things."
- If you are looking for a book with all the same press shots you've seen a thousand times then this book isn't for you. The panoramic composits are excellent and the choice of photos is very intelligent. See what Apollo was really about in this book. The quality in terms of photo reproduction and book design is impeccable.
- I can use "picture book" to describe Full Moon, as images contributed as the major part of this book. Don't think that this book is not worth reading, indeed, it is on the contrary, this is an extraordinary book, because of the photos.
There are a lot of astronomy books contain lots of photos, but when you read them, you would find the images are not so good at all, but not because of the photo itself, because of the low resolution. And if you are familiarize with those photos, you would immediately notice that the original photo is not so small in resolution. It is really a very bad idea for the publisher and editor to ignore the importance of image resolution.
However, when you first look into Full Moon, you will find you're getting into a different world as you are already delighted by the spectacular images of the Moon taken from Apollo Mission. Normally, owing to the technological limitation in 1960s and 1970s, all images are only mostly available as hard copy and not so high resolution. However, Project Full Moon can turn those hard copies into very high resolution images. I can even tell you that, NASA even don't have such high resolution images before.
Since these reasons, I would rank this book as my list of Top 10 Astronomy Book. If you really love astronomy, you must not miss this book, miss the extraordinary journey to the Moon
- This is a beautiful book. It is a series of photos from various Apollo missions, put together in a way to illustrate a voyage from Earth to the moon & back. The photos take up whole pages, or are panorama fold-outs. The photos are crystal clear. I have seen close-ups made from these photos before, but never the originals as are in Full Moon. That's when I realized the resolution of the cameras the Apollo astronauts were using was incredible.
My only disappointment was that my copy arrived with the dustjacket all scraped up and dented, and the edges of many of the pages were mangled, so I had to return it. The book still gets 5 stars because that is no fault of the publisher, or Michael Light. I'll buy it again when I can find a good copy at a "bricks & mortar" bookstore; it's worth the extra $$.
- "Full Moon" is a selection of about one hundred pictures of different lunar american missions. The selection and the digital improvement has been made by Michael Light, and all has been done from an artistic perspective.
If you're looking for a very comprehensive lunar mission day-to-day, interviews with astronauts or a nice reproduction of "that" picture, this is not definitely your book.
But if you want, for a moment, walk on the moon, travel outside the Earth and dance with the stars, then buy it.

5 comments about Big Bucks Selling Your Photography.
- This book by Cliff Hollenbeck is a real "find " for anyone desiring to make money with a camera. Most of us who go into the photography business sort of slide into it without much of an idea how to go about it. Most of us, when we reach a point where people are willing to pay for our photos, have some pretty abysmal business practices and stagger from crisis to crisis until we learn all lessons the hard way. We arrive at that point just before the evil eye of bankruptcy fixes on us.
Hollenbeck's book covers all bases from writing a business plan to negotiating prices for use of photos. I suspect that anyone who follows his advice from day one "in the business," will achieve far more success than they would by just winging it. Fortunately, all the business advice is served up with a wit and brevity that make learning it an enjoyable exercise. Knowing that he has been exceptionally successful in his own professional life lends weight to his suggestions. Hollenbeck and his wife are one of the most successful teams working in the area of Travel and Editorial photography. Their book "Great Travel Photography" is a great companion volume. Not to try covering the whole universe of making money with a camera, but there are two additional books I would recommend. Rohn Engh has a couple of books that would, with the Hollenbeck pair, form a great basic library for anyone interested in a photographic career. They are, "How to Sell and Resell Your Photos" and "Sell Photos.Com." Thanks, Bill Halley
- With a little common sense you can skip reading Mr. Hollenbeck's book. Everytime I want more depth and detail, there is none, but in other ways the book is amazingly repitive and redundant.
- I havent read this book but I noticed something that I want to point out.
It is supposed to be a newly released book but the reviews are from 2001 and earlier. Apparently they are not for this book or at least not this edition.
- The author has presented a comprehensive guide to everything a photographer needs to consider when selling and marketing their work. As an expert in the area of travel photography, the author's inside experience provides valuable insight to the novice.
As other reviewers have pointed out, this book is practical and straight-forward. It is an invaluable resource for all photographers
- This book is an excellent tool for photographers looking for an edge to accelerate there business. Strategies for a business plan along with legal aspects of their business and tax filing are all covered. When you start out on your own, this is a book to have.

4 comments about Single-Camera Video Production, Fourth Edition (Media Manuals).
- Now in a fully updated and expanded third edition, Single-Camera Video Production by Robert B. Musburger (Associate Professor, School of Communication, University of Houston), is a straightforward and highly recommended guide based upon the author's many years of practical field experience to planning, shooting, and editing video productions shot on location with essentially one camera at the filmmaker's disposal. An excellent resource for student filmmakers, Single-Camera Video Production offers a wealth of technical detail on audio signals, the scanning system, digital signal standards, camera controls, microphone types, and more, including sound advice on the social side of shooting film such as directing talent.
- Mr. Musburger tackles a very wide range of information in a comfortable and easy to read style. He peppers his text with interesting tidbits about TV production and technology and covers a lot of ground.
There are some unfortunate factual errors in this edition (I have not read earlier editions). Focal Press should improve their editing process and attempt to have more industry experts read books like this before going to press.
All in all this is a good overview for someone starting out in video production as long as they continue to seek out other information from various sources. Instructors in the field can furnish errata for their students that will greatly increase the value of this book.
Better fact checking would have made this a strong recommendation.
- The fact that a book has reached its fourth edition usually means it has some merit that readers have found useful. If that's the case with this book, it's a mystery to me how the book ever got out of the first edition.
First of all, the title "Single-Camera Video Production" led me to believe that the book's focus is on how to do everything for a video production using a single camera. For the bulk of the book, that's not what it's about. It's really a general book about using a video camera. (One section even illustrates using 5 cameras--rehearsing and preparing talent!)
Second, the illustrations are terrible. They look like they were done by a non-designer using Etch-a-sketch. Further, the drawings of the complex video cameras were so generic and seemingly dated that they were totally useless. However, that didn't matter because I didn't buy the book to learn about video cameras (that keep changing regularly), but rather some wisdom on the production process where the videographer is trying to produce using a single camera.
The reason that this book is rated two-stars instead of 1 (or 0) is because there were some materials on lighting with a single camera that were useful. (However, there was nothing unique and that I couldn't find on the Web for free.)
All in all, this book is a poorly crafted one, and one that I could cobble together with a topic search on the Web. Unfortunately, I think that a good book on Single-Camera Video Production is something that would be very useful. This just isn't it.
- Musberger is a great book if you're serious about the craft of shooting. The book is written by a pro for pros and those who would like to be. The style is spare, precise, and clear. There is little flair in the book, but if you want to get better at shooting the information is here and well-explained. While the title is "single-camera", most of the information applies in almost any video shooting situation.

3 comments about Nan Goldin (Monographs).
- nan goldin is, no room for a doubt, the greatest photographer of our decade. no one like her can capture the way modern life can be odd and beautiful at the same time. this book contains some of her brilliant artwork, the quality of the photos is really great, and besides, its less expensive than most of her books, and as good as most of them. its great to find another excellent book of her. you wont be dissapointed, believe me! you have to see it for yourself!
- nan goldin is a credit to photography. her works are so personal and show simple and humble pictures of friends and herself. nothing is dolled up or made to look fashionable...it's how things are...caught at the perfect moments. i am in love with this collection and go back to it many times to look at my favorites.
- I searched long and hard for an affordable and great collection of Nan Goldin's work and this is the winner. The pictures are crisp and the color is good. Although, some of her famous photographs were missing, and some of my favorites as well, I recommend this book. Great deal!!

2 comments about Reflex: A Vik Muniz Primer.
- Overall, this is great retrospective book of Vik Muniz. Several comprehensive essays and interviews. I would have wished if his early works, chocolate works, and the dust series (whitney show) have been more presented as they are critical for Vik Muniz's career. However, amongst the several Muniz books, this is probably the best one (but could be better in the future).
- I agree with "mdr" that the book only scratches the surface and presents just couple of works of most of artists series. I have to admit, I am not that super much into his art. But the writings are the most interesting part of the book. Mr.Muniz is very good at writing of his process of making art. It's interesting to get into artist's mind.
