- Hello, I received this camera as a gift... I like it but I have no idea where to get the batteries from?!?! I know that it only takes Panasonic oxyride or alkaline batteries but I have gone to walgreens and walmart but they do not have any. Does anyone else know? Other wise... good camera!
- Good machine for unsteady hands.. Produces beautiful pictures even from a speeding car. it could benefit from an enclosed view finder to augment the LED screen.
- We ordered this camera after doing alot of research on the internet. We had also decided at the last minute to purcase a new camera for our trip to Germany, and we couldn't have been more excited about this camera! There are so many settings on this camera that are actually a lot of fun to play around with and get good at...don't let that intimidate you though because without all those (fun & easy to learn) setting we would not have gotten half of the shots we did...so many at night, church steeples as the sun was setting, it's a great camera!! Our friend who went with us bought the same one with a few more features felt the same, was fun to learn and thrilled with the results!! Awesome point & shoot camera!!
- This is the second DMC-LS75S I have purchased. I feel like you can't do better for your money. You can use a picture from this on your screen saver and the picture will still look great. And it has the fastest shutter speed I can find, so it's great for action shots.
- I had read all the previous reviews on this product that I could find before buying it. Every other review I read was right on the money. This is a great camera for the price. It's quick to start and move from picture to picture, very easy to use and has a lot of features if you like features to play with. The only problem this camera has is that the flash is a little too bright for close use. When the flash goes off the picture washes out. Other than that for outdoor use which is primarily why I bought it, the pictures are beautiful.

- some of the more "technical" reviews of this camera {on various web sites} seem to distract from the facts... this is a fine camera for the money! it has EVERY option anyone could hope for, and a few that I still have not even found yet!
the picture quality is excellent, IF you have patience and read the manual, the zoom lens is Incredible!! yes there may be "noise" issues, but I spent an entire lifetime using grainy film cameras so no big deal!
look at the customer images that have been sent in, and be sure to check out the pictures I posted here..I surprised myself!! those are the reasons for buying the DMC-FZ30, you can't argue with the facts, spectacular photographs ARE available thru this camera...
so, don't let the tech experts throw you off at getting a great camera for the money, after all were talking about taking pictures, not launching a rocket. you will not be dissapointed in this neat camera!
- I'm a camera dummy but I get really great pictures with this camera. One of my friends thought I had an expensive SLR camera when he saw some of my pictures and looked really puzzled over how I got such such great pictures when I told him it was "just" a Panasonic, not a Nikon.
I've had this camera for around a year and use it almost every day. It's a workhorse and it's been flawless. Be sure to get a 1 gig high speed SD memory card to go with it. Also, get a tripod for those zoom shots.
- It might even compete with the SLR's but I don't have a digital SLR so I can't really make that statement. My FZ-30 served me well for 2 years until it quit working due to getting wet. (Thank you American Airlines)
I primarily use my camera for well lit out door shots. I do a lot of sports photography and the telephoto is always on max. I did use it for indoors as well and never saw the noise problem that some people comment about. It has a great balance and feel, focused accurately and took crisp clear pictures with accurate colors.
I decided to replace it with a Canon S3 IS (very good reviews)since the FZ-30 was out of production, and the Canon was about $150 less. That was a mistake. There is no comparison, The Panasonic took so much clearer pictures. The Canon is quite a bit smaller and lighter, it does not have the quality feel of the Panasonic. I am returning the Canon and ordering an FZ-50.
- A Retired professional, I have had medium format and numerous pro 35mm's. This is my choice camera. I have prints on my wall up to 24x30 (and larger which I gave as gifts) from this camera. They were printed by non-pro, online order labs and they receive great unsolicited compliments. This camera has top capabilities and came with a leica 35-420 lens! It is easy to operate and the battery long-lived. I was comparing it to newer cameras since I'm used to having to upgrade frequently, and realized there is no need to spend more. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30K 8MP Digital Camera with 12x Image Stabilized Optical Zoom (Black)
- This is a very nice camera for taking on my bike rides. Though it is not a pocket sized Point and shoot camera, it weight much less than my Nikon D-200. I love the 12X optical zoom. I was able to photograph a nest of Sandhill Cranes every day, as I biked the trail next to the nesting pond. True to the reviews I had read about it, this camera has some noise issues at anything higher than 80 Iso. At max optical telephoto it also produces softer photos than I would get with the Nikon, but closer range it takes tack sharp photos with great, true color rendition. The vibration reduction is great. I have shot some cose-ups in the shade at a 30th of a second and got sharp results. I found the rotating LCD screen helpful with low angle and some higher angle photos. The transfer time is a bit slow, but when you use a faster memory card, I have found it satisfactory. I use a high speed 1 GB SD card and shoot at the raw setting with acceptable results. I haven't tried all the possibilities with this camera, since I've only had it for a short time, but, even with it's noise shortcomings, I would recommend this camera to friends.

- This lens is fairly inexpensive and the reason for that is while it definitely lets you get really close and the image is definitely larger than without it, the fact is the FZ7 and the FZ30 macro settings are already so good that the image is perhaps 15% or so bigger than without it. If I can I'll post a couple flower images to permit comparison with and without the lens. The camera I have is a FZ7. Because I want as large an image as possible of my focus I am very happy.

- Honor student reward- I was proud of him so I bought him the best camera in this price range- his favorite present!
- My husband is tired of hearing about how much I love this camera. It does everything I ever wanted in a camera. My boys are both in sports and the action shots are amazing. It can blur a little after dark sometimes but in daylight, I haven't had any blurred shots no matter how fast the subject is moving.
- This camera takes pictures incredibly beautiful, I had served in many projects of photography and I can assure you that is fantastic!!!!.
- i am a two time panasonic owner and love their products. i owned my previous camera for about 4 years and absolutly loved it. the only reason i upgraded to the dmc-fz8 is because the old on had a crack in the lens. which i didn't know about until i was on vacation. the dmc-fz8 is an execellent camera with more features than i could ever use. the zoom on this camera is incredible. although the pictures tend to get grainy at full extended zoom. anyone have any solutions to this grainyness? other than that i have had no problems. the dmc-fz8 was well worth the money i payed and would do it again. thanks to amazon for all the reviews and imformation which help me make my decision on what camera to buy.

- A great unit, however chip missing, and the video quality in low lite situations is superb. The price was 200 EURO less than in Hamburg shops.
- I had the 5 megapixel version of this camera and it was great. When I lost that camera I knew that there was no other point and shoot that I would want to own. The image stabilizer is phenomenal for an amature photographer and it's 100 times better than the kodak cameras that I've owned. I won't buy any other camera for everyday use.
- I'm not one who needs to review things, but this camera is special. I have used many digital cameras over many years, each improved over the last model as technology improves and becomes more afordable. Having purchased the FZ18 I noticed the FX30 very is similar in menu and features which I have grown to like on the FZ. There are trade offs with the tiny cameras of optical quality(CCD size)and zoom. Looking at most all others they have similar limitations needing enough light to keep the noise down. Some have much worse quality issues, like so called "digital image stabilization" that automatically lower quality with increased noise to useless levels. The thing I wanted to share is this camera grows on you. I cannot leave it home or often worry it might loose it down the couch or worse! It is cute and needs TLC and just happens to take great pictures too!
- I bought this camera for my daughter and she found it a week later in Best Buy for the same price but 10 megapixels. What a deal!! But the camera itself is great.
- I gave it three stars because it falls short in one critical area - photo quality.
But first, the good stuff. Like an earlier review noted, the black rubberized finish feels good in hand. The "Intelligent Auto" mode works reasonably well - it was able to distinguish between macro, landscape, portrait and night modes most of the time. The wide angle lens really came in handy for group photos, landscape and architecture shots. Normal operation is fairly snappy, and the menu are easy to figure out. Lastly, the LCD screen's resolution is fairly high, and the gain can be adjusted with one button to aid viewing in bright environments.
However, the photo quality was underwhelming. I've owned a Canon Powershot S410 and Fuji Finepix F20 (both pocket-sized Point & Shoot cameras) and the photo quality in those cameras were superior to the Panasonic. Panasonic cameras have had the reputation of great lenses with mediocre noise reduction, and that's what I expected with this camera. However, the photos are very soft and the colors lack saturation. The noise reduction is noticeable at ISO 200, and is very apparent at ISO 400. This level of noise reduction is not unusual for this class of camera, though I prefer the Canon approach of more detail but more noise.
The camera also has an "Intelligent ISO" mode, which boosts the ISO if shaking or motion is detected in the frame. It sounds good, but it's very aggressive, and the resulting photos are usually shot at fairly high ISO where the detail is lost. There is a option to limit the highest ISO, though the option is not available in "Intelligent Auto" mode.
I haven't printed any photos from this camera, though I would suspect that regular sized prints would be fine. You can usually tell the difference in quality by zooming into a photo, but in this case, I was able to tell the difference even when shrinking the photos to fit in a web album.
It's not a bad camera. I actually enjoyed using it, but at the end of the day, when you sit down and look over the photos you took, that's where the camera underwhelms.

- This is my first digital camera, so I am still getting used to it. It has lots of features, if you want to do manual adjusting.
- This little giant is a great pocket camera with loads of power features.
* Effective Image Stabilization
* Automatic Intelligence Modes
* Loads of Scene Settings that really work
* Great zoom combination (optical/digital)
* Extra Sharp Images
* 28mm wide angle view
* Super Compact
* File Organization
I could go on and on with all of the great features.
If you buy this camera and learn how to take advantage of the features, you will not be disappointed. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a small camera with great performance features.
- Excellent small, convenient snapshot camera. All of the controls are really easy to use and in the right positions. The picture quality is outstanding and there is plenty of control over the size of the files. The only drawback that I found is that it does not have a fully manual setting for the exposure and the longest exposure setting appears to be about 1 sec. I am sure that I won't need these settings too often. Overall an excellent purchase. I would recommend it.
- it's a excellent camera. it's easy to use and many function. but it's not easy to buy a replacement battery.
- just a great all around camera. I dont know why anyone would buy anything other than a panasonic. Leica lens, huge lcd screen, its fantastic.

- I bought this camera primarily because of the wide-angle lens and the image stabilization, as well as the reputation of the Leica lens. I'm not an avid photographer, but I wanted something small and easy to use, and this camera is certainly that. The controls are very intuitive and the instruction manual explains the more advanced features very clearly. I'm very pleased with the quality of the landscape shots and portraits I've done so far. Everything about the Lumix is amazingly compact; you can pop it into a shirt pocket or into a pocket of your cargo shorts, and take it everywhere, and it's so light that it's easy to forget that it's there....I worry about accidentally putting it through the washing machine someday. There may be better cameras if you need and use a lot of advanced features, but this little gem has been perfect for my needs. Highly recommended!
- This camera display excellent pictures! for non professional cameras for my its the best. Note that i have made an extensive review about cameras and I Decided for Lumix. The best technology, the best quality, its number one in the market. dont think it more, i wasted to much time tinking about it already.
- I like it lots. I haven't figured it out yet, but its going to be a lot of fun using that wide angle feature of this camera.
- This is a great camera, that takes great pictures. I got one for Christmas, and decided we needed 2. The pictures are great, and the videos that it can take are good quality. I would not rely on it as a video camera, but it's handy when you need one.
- great deal at $166. not as intuitive to use until you get used to wheel to set modes. i cannot see small symbols on wheel without glasses. screen is nice and big, but lack of viewfinder makes it harder for outdoor shots in sunlight. excellent battery life. fabulous quality pictures with no blur. excellent auto fill in flash for backlit outdoor shots. very pleased with it.

5 comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1S 5MP Compact Digital Camera with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver).
- I bought the camera and have been moderately happy with it. I was very pleased by the compact size along with 10x optical zoom. I thought the picture quality was fair, as others have mentioned on here. I compared pictures to an older Olympus I had and found the Olympus was superior. I figured you have to give up something when you make a more compact camera.
Things really went down hill when my charger stopped working 6 months after purchase. I finally called Panasonic support. I was floored when they told me that the charger is not covered under warranty. How shady!
I decided to buy a new charger, but found they were $40 a Best Buy. I took the issue up again with Panasonic and escalated to a supervisor. In the end, I spent too much time on hold and waiting for call backs from someone in charge. You have to wait 1-2 days for a supervisor to call back. If you miss the call, you cannot call them direct and you have to again go through a lengthy process to leave a message.
When I finally spoke to someone, they wanted me to produce a receipt or old credit card statement showing when I bought this. This may be reasonable, but I was so sick of dealing with them over $40, I told them to forget it. The last thing I wanted to do was spend more time sifting through my files to maybe find the receipt or try to remember which credit card I put it on.
Overall, the this camera is fair. If you end up having to use their support for some reason, your experience will probably go from fair to poor.
- I've had this camera for over a year now & I absolutely love it! It is very easy to use, the 12.5x zoom is unbelievable & the resolution is beautiful. This camera is a bit thicker than most on the market these days, but I believe it gives you more to hold on to so your pictures are taken with a more steady, stable hand.This camera never fails to take an amazing photo.
- This is overall a wonderful camera, and I am glad that this was my first digital camera. It takes beautiful, detailed, sometimes breath-taking photos in good outdoor lighting (nature photos = wonderful). The 10x optical zoom packed into such a small package is outstanding. However, this camera is not the best at indoor/low-lighting photos. The photos are discernable, but there is a lot of noise in the photos. Recommended without hesitation for shooting photos on a vacation where the scenery and nature are the main draws, but recommended only with some trepidation where the goal is to capture people in nightclubs or hotel-room drinking binge.
- Bought this camera a couple of years ago and it is still working well. Great picture quality and so very easy to use. Will have an occasional slightly blurry pic, but for a simple to use camera I would def recommend.
- I own this camera since september2 2006, works just fine until less than a year after I got it starts to work all wrong when flash is used.
At outdoors is exceptional, great pictures when the light is good.
Bad really dark and black pictures at indoors when the place has low light. The flash forced on, and still the pictures came dark, because the flash shut way before the lens, a syncronization problem. And it's a pity because I was really pleased with it. But now I'm very dissapointed and I want to buy another camera because I can't trust the DMC-TZ1 anymore at nights or indoor situations, and I don't want to have a camera I can use just in some situations when daylight or good light is on.

- For this price, the product is very good. I absolutely love it though it has some minor glitches which are negligible.
- Although this item was wrong for my operating system, I wanted to give the 5 stars to Amazon cutomer service! This one one Company that stands behind their policies, guarantees & high standards of service.
Great items, great service & greatly appreciated! "Thank you Amazon"
- Bought this camera a month ago and used on a trip. Already had over 1000 shots on it. Love its rich features - flexible. Excellent picture quality. Its image stablizer seems to be effective. I also have a Lumix 5Mp camera which is also excellent. I think that there are two limitations on the Lumix cameras people need to know before buying. (1) It does not have a "view-window" (only LCD screen). It is impossible to see the screen in sunlight when you don't have a hat or something to shield the reflection; (2) If you plan to use rechargable NiHM batteries, buy only quality rechargable with 2500ma or better. It won't tolerate less quality rechargables.
- Excellent camera for the money. Takes sharp, clear photos and has a good anti-jittering option. Loaded with features, but the camera display menus are a little confusing and the printed user's guide is cumbersome. That said, the camera is very easy to use for the average point-and-shoot photographer like myself. More experienced photo enthusiasts will probably get a lot more out of it if they wish to explore the seemingly endless feature menus.

- I am loving the quality of pictures on this camera. The pictures are beautiful. I also love the many different picture options available that are pre-programmed into the camera.
After about 4 months of use, the flash died while I was in Mexico on vacation. I heard a small pop right as I tried to take a picture. As it was under warranty, I sent the camera into Panasonic (I had to pay shipping) and they fixed it and sent it back in 2 weeks.
So, while I love practically everything about this camera, I worry that it is not durable enough to last a long time. I don't think I am too rough with it.
- I bought this camera about a month ago, so far it has been very good to me. It takes really nice quality photos. The battery lasts a really long time. I take pictures of pets a lot and its very hard to get one with them sitting still, and it's hard to use a flash because pets get really bad red-eye. But this camera has a specific setting for pets! There are so many different settings i haven't even discovered them yet. I think this camera could make anyone a great photographer. I totally recommend it.
- I recently purchased this camera through amazon. If I were to purchase again, I would probably choose the comparable Sony or Canon model. While I appreciated the Japanese quality of the camera, the performance left much to be desired: my first outing with the camera was to a high school dance that I had organized, and I could see nothing through the digital viewfinder--there is no standard window viewfinder--and this inability to see anything, mixed with focusing and color problems, led to horrible photos. I also found the camera's function controls, as well as the bundled software, to be very non-intuitive, with a large number of commands required for navigation. I do not recommend this camera for general purpose use, particularly among buyers who may wish to take photos in darker environments and/or do not want to spend great amounts of time reading and rereading the user's guide to ensure proper functioning of the camera.
- I had been very pleased with this camera until it suddenly developed oil spots on the interior of the lens. I was instructed by Panasonic to send it in for repairs. After 3 weeks I finally received my camera back in good working condition only to have the oil spots appear again two weeks later. At that point I requested a replacement but was informed by Panasonic that my only recourse was to continue to send it back for repairs. Unacceptable. I would strongly urge all considering this product, or any Panasonic product, to think long and hard before taking the plunge as, my experience has been that the company will not stand behind their product.
- This camera takes very good photos in the day, but awful photos at night. What I didn't like about this camera, is that you will need a tripod to take pictures if you are taking photos without flash or in an ambient with poor light, because your are going to get awful pictures.
When you take pictures and you watch them on the display, you think they look beautiful, but when you download to the computer, you will see that some are shaken.
Look for another camera. I am very sure that there are better than this one.
