1. I bought this camera a couple of years ago, and had problems with the auto focus. About a year ago the battery cover wouldn't close all the way due to a broken tab in the cheesy cover. Well I just sent it in to be repaired, and guess what they want $150 to fix it. That's almost half the price of the camera for a 10 cent item and probably all of 15 minutes to fix. I won't be getting it fixed (I'll tape it shut), and I won't ever buy another camera from Minolta. Let the buyer beware. Stay away from Minolta unless you like spending your money on repairs.



2. I have two little beautiful girls and I love taking pictures of them. I have had the camera for two years now and it works great. I have had no problems with it. The thing I love the most is that I can record a small video (depends on the memory card) and send it to my mom and my family by e-mail instead of having to send them a video of the girls through the mail. When I download the video to my computer it looks like I had taped it with a camcorder. It looks great. It also takes beautiful pictures and a lot of people ask me where did I buy the camera because it looks expensive but it really isn't. I even have a picture of my girls in the pool where you can see the drops of water perfectly when they splashed. It was worth the money.



3. This is such a great little camera! I've had it less than a year and I've taken some pretty nice pictures (you can see a few on "share your images".
   The battery door is flimsy, hence the 4 stars, but my pictures have turned out very nice. Like most Americans, I wanted to upgrade just to have something more expensive and I'm glad I did but this is a nice compact piece that I can go just about anywhere with.
   I loaned it to a coworker for her trip to Kyoto, Japan during the Cherry Blossom Festival, I'm sure her shots came out great and she'll be upgrading to digital:)
   You'll like the easy use and, unlike another review, it's not difficult for others to master.
   The price Amazon is offering is way too much. Look elsewhere, I got mine on eBay for $124.

5. This Camera is super . I love this camera the 10X zoom takes you places you would not believe. I have taken this camera on vacation and get the best pictures I could ever ask for. A++++++++ Also because it uses 4 batteries the life of those batteries is quit long. I've gone as long as three days without having to change or charge batteries.

1. I have a Dimage Xt as does about 5 other people I know. We all love them. So, I recommended the X31 to a friend. That was the biggest mistake I have ever made.
   
   The X31 is a piece of trash. It is unable to take focussed pictures inside a dimly lit bar. My Xt had no problems taking pictures in the same situation.
   
   If you want a camera that takes pictures in focus, you should avoid the X31.



2. I was hoping that when I pay a good amount of money for a product from a well known company which has a reputation in photgraphy, i'll get a camera that can take pictures. With the x31 that is hardly the case since the camera doesn't know how to focus. If you plan on taking pictures anywhere other than under glaring lights or the midday sun, buy another camera because the camera will just get confused and give you that little red dot telling you it can't focus.



3. I have had this camera for over a year. I bought it because I read some reviews (from people who obveously hadn't used the camera for a long time) that said the shutter lag was great. I also liked its size. I knew the video was not going to have sound, so while inconvenient, it was not anything unexpected. I also loved the fact it took AA batteries.
   
   However, this camera has ZERO durrability. The door that holds in the batteries broke in week 1 after the warrenty ended. Minolta will not replace it. It is a cheep peice of plastic, and they will not replace it unless I pay for repairs that cost more than the camera did when I bought it,
   
   Also, and this was a big one for me, if you are in any lighting condition less than 'bright' you can forget about getting an in-focus shot. This thing can not take low light pictures.
   
   Also, the ergonomics of this thing is all off. It was particularly bad because I am left-handed, but even for my right handed family members, it takes some getting used to NOT to hold this thing with 2 hands, and NOT having your shutter-finger get in the way of the lense.
   
   Avoid this camera. Make sure to go to your local retail store and TEST your cameras before you buy them. Test them for shutter lag, batter door design, and low light conditions (put your hand over the lense, or bring sun-glasses).



4. The camera is easy to handle and therefore for people who just wanna make pictures. The camera needs some seconds to focus the object which makes snapshot almost impossible. It is really convenient because of its size and the inbuild lences. The camera is really good for daylight use, but if it gets darker outside or even inside you can not use the camera at all. The flash, needed to focus on something, is to weak.



5. I got some really good use out of this camera, I will treasure many of the beautiful pictures. However, I would not go with it again. While it provides some nice options and I love tiny design, it was often difficult to focus and the menu, while intuitive and simple, took time to adjust. Even with the case sold by minolta specifically for this camera, it did not handle bumps well at all. In addition, it takes too long to store a shot and let you take another one.
   While my outdoor pictures were often stunning, indoors was a real problem. The flash is very strong and casts severe shadows, and I think the color is unauthentic as well. Sometimes you can do ok without the flash, but often the color is unauthentic anyway and often dark.
   I caught on to the focusing system easily, but it became a problem when I wanted to be in a picture and have someone else shoot it. Almost never had good results. Also, forget about low light conditions-- even though the flash compensates perfectly, the lens doesn't focus and your pictures will be uselessly blurry.
   Bottom line: Not reccomended. I'm sorry I let myself get talked into getting a more expensive (at the time) camera when I probably would have been equally satisfied with a cheaper camera and fewer options.

1. I was looking for something to replace my Sony Cybershot and had my eye on this model for some time. While picking up pictures at my local Sam Walton's, I found this one reduced to 199.00 and bought it. It takes incredible pictures and it's very comfortable to use, even those "can you take one of us" to a stranger comes out great. The flash is simple and you can zoom and snap with one hand at the same time. There are two drawbacks in my opinion, the lens cap is not attached and it seems to eat batteries. I quickly switched to rechargeables and have since found that by not using the LCD display all the time and switching to rechargeables eliminates that aspect of it. It's not a mini, you definitely know that it's dangling from your neck but none of these would keep me from making this purchase again. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good quality camera.



2. I bought this refubished from a dealer here and I feel like I took advantage of Amazon. This is a great camera with amazing control and it is easy to use. I would not recommend it to a novice photographer but if you love to plow through menus to get the results you want this is the camera for you. It also starts up very quickly and sips battery power. I took at least 300-400 photos on my first set of batteries. Buy it and love it.



3. I bought this camera because it was a good price for a 5 megapixel digital camera plus Konica Minolta is a good name in cameras. The viewing screen is small but worst of all its got a lot of noise in it; it's virtually impossible to see if your shot is clean and in focus. The camera doesn't have an image stabilizer so the slightest movement and you've got a blurry shot. It's bulky and odd looking and doesn't travel well.
   
   It's one year later and I'm going to buy a Sony DSCW50 because it's smaller, lighter, thinner, has an image stabilizer, is user friendly and with a longer battery life.



4. I have owned this camera for a year now and I am not able to get good quality photos indoors. Most of my indoor photos have turned out dark. I have missed a lot of great photos (concerts, award ceremony, pageants, etc.) because of this camera.



5. We had the Dimage Z10 3MP and loved it. We were in Hawaii on the black sand beach where we dropped it and broke the battery lid latch. Otherwise we would still be using it. We liked it so much that we went out of our way to find this very hard to find Z20. Is it the best camera out there? No. There are better with more options. However, for simplicity and quality, with good features, this is the best for us. The other reason to buy this camera is the price. Under $200. Great buy!

1. This is my second digital camera. My first being Sony Maciva. This camera is great and very easy to use. I was at first worried about battery life but I am very please with performance of batteries. I would recommend a charger and only high quality batteries. I also bought a 64 & 128 memory card. I never run out of space.
   Highly recommend.



2. I looked at many many digital cameras before buying this one. I finally decided to buy it because it looked like it had everything I needed and it was cheaper than others. Well, I am really happy with my purchase. I bought this camera in 11/01 so I have had it for a long time. I have taken it to Hawaii and Florida and just around town and it has not failed me yet.

   Indoor pictures are not great with this camera but they are not horrible. I have taken some professional looking pictures with this camera and look at them on the computer daily. I would not even think about using regular batteries with it though, that would be a joke. This camera does suck battery juice like crazzzy.

   I enjoy taking pictures and this camera really has been great. I use webshots on my computer and I have my pictures of Hawaii cycle through on the desktop everyday, actually every 15 minutes. People are always commenting on them asking if they are professional pictures. I even printed some of them out and they looked great.

   If you do not have a lot of money to spend and want a pretty good camera I would go with this one. It really has just about everything. ...




3. The Minolta s304 is a fine camera if you can get it for significantly less than it's current retail price. The 3.3 megapixel resolution makes for some excellent daylight shots, and the 60 second movie recorder renders superb quality avi files. However, the camera suffers excessively from camera shake in low-light conditions. In addition, the manual setting for taking shots is difficult to manipulate...even for the intermediate level photographer. Night-time shots suffer from imbalance in color levels

   Rechargeable Ni-MH batteries are an absolute must for this camera. My unit came with 4 AA alkaline batteries which expired after roughly 45 minutes of usage. I've owned my current set of 1850 mAH Kodak Photolifes for roughly a year now and they've consistently given the camera an operational battery life 2-3 days with regular on/off usage.

   While the s304 has a workable zoom it fails to give adequate focus (in both automatic and manual modess), rendering blurred images - especially to subjects taken with the digital zoom.

   I won't recommend this camera to a first-time buyer.




4. Had this camera for a little over a year and it's a piece of junk. From day one it has never worked right. At least 90% of the time it locks up when I turn it on; the red LED light stays on and I have to open the battery door for thirty seconds to reset the camera. Sometimes when I change modes it locks up. I have no confidence that it will work when I turn it on. When it does "boot up" correctly I jump for joy (is this how it's suppose to be?). This thing also uses a lot of power, my 1800ma NiMh batteries (4 AA) only lasts about 25 pics at medium resolution and small image size. It's a shame because this camera is constructed well (metal case), takes terrific pictures (when it works), zoom is great, LCD screen is very clear for it's size, uses easy to get CompactFlash cards and batteries. It's out of warranty right now and I don't think it's worth trying to repair so it'll get tossed into the rubbish can; what a waste! Maybe I just got a lemon when I bought it but I will never buy another Minolta digital camera again, this S304 really tarnished Minolta's reputation in my books. I won't tell everyone "don't buy it"......it's up to you, maybe you won't get a lemon like I did.



5. I had the EXACT same experience as the Feb. 16 2004 reviewer! The only difference is that my Dimage had to be sent back to the factory straight from the box because it was filled with fine lint like particles. It NEVER has worked properly.....I will never purchase a Minolta anything! ever! and I'll tell all my friends....

1. This is the best digital camera I've bought so far. (My fourth.) It consistently takes great photos. I just wish it was a true SLR. The viewfinder has a second lcd screen that turns on when the camera is close to your eye so it's better than a range-finder viewer.



2. I am inexperienced and have found this camera difficult to use for capturing images of products. The white adjustment is not automatic and must be tuned each time.



3. I've had this camera since soon after it's release and it continues to delight me. The A2 is not the best for beginners or casual shooters. But, if you are an enthusiast who wants total control of something with a 28-200 zoom that is much more portable than its SLR equivalent, get it!



4. I used it in my last trip in Yucatan for the first time, without any previous trial (but I already owned a DiMAGE 7Hi) and results are exceptional without tripod (not allowed in ruins areas without special permit).
   
   Very satisfied.
   I would change it only for an equivalent camera with interchangeable lenses.



5. I'm a very avid photographer who bought this camera as soon as it came out (4 years ago), and all its accessories (including a 4 GB microdrive...has been replaced with 8 GB CF card). It works amazingly well, with excellent color accuracy, basically all the features of a Pro SRL (even today's models) and, yes it DOES offer automatic white balance. Konica-Minolta invented this "in-LCD" antishake system which is every bit as effective as the ones on lenses at the time, and (unfortunately for K-M, fortunately for consumers) they were not able to protect their patents fully enough so that imitations are now commonplace. The size, shape & feel of this camera is actually better than an SLR...it's just slightly smaller to be much handier. I've used every feature and have performed all kinds of shots, from highest to lowest speeds. I don't have a single gripe with this camera, its design is simply excellent...and it revolutionized the industry with its mini-SLR form factor, making it perfect for everyone except perhaps a professional photographer who doesn't care as much about portability, and who may go with something like the top Nikon or Canon. Perhaps the one downside is the poor video, but this feature is an add-on anyway (one would get a real videocam).

1. I finally converted to digital this month and immediately took it on a two week trip to Italy. Although the camera has plenty of options and adjustments available, the settings are easy to figure out and the small manual is understandable and is organized in a way to makes it easy to find the explanations needed. The photo quality is excellent and the anti shake technology really works, even with my 18-200 mm lens. I carried a spare charged battery since I seemed to use one up before I was finished taking photos.



2. The Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D is a pioneer in the crowded field of digital SLR cameras. It was the first DSLR camera to incorporate AS (anti-shake) into the camera body instead of the camera lens. It seems like such an obvious no-brainer it's a wonder why nobody thought of it earlier. With the 7D, any lens you attach to the camera magically becomes AS enabled!
   That means every lens from a cheap $50 plastic kit lens to a $1,500 pro level telephoto lens. The other big camera brands (Canon and Nikon) put their anti-shake technology (Canon calls it IS, Nikon calls it VR) into their lens. And not all of their lenses have IS/VR. That means if you want anti-shake with Canon and Nikon you need to buy their special IS/VR lenses, and believe me you WILL pay extra for it. Another problem is that Canon and Nikon don't make wide lenses or fast standard primes with IS/VR. With the Maxxum 7D, any lens your heart desires will be AS enabled once you connect it to your camera. Simply awesome! Once you try photography with anti-shake technology, there is no going back!



3. I've had my Maxxum 7D since September 2006 and can't find enough words to say how i love it! I've had moments when i danced like a kid who just scored a goal after openning up the images on the computer screen!!! This baby reflects every aspect of my personality and helps me bring out my crazy photo ideas.
   I hesitated and was patiently waiting till i could get it all together with the 28-75mm 2.8 lens, my second best was Nikon's D200, but i decided to follow my dream and i've been happy ever after. Sweet!!! 6MP is just fine with me, printing posters the size of a wall isn't my hobby, so why splash out so much to keep up with the Joneses?! MP count has nothing to do with the quality and a good lens like the one mentioned proves it. The camera is so well designed i barely use the LCD screen, it's on only to review the shot and get some initial settings done, buttons and dials are so intuitively laid out, one doesn't have to take his eye off to make an allignment!!! It's become my arms extention and i now see as if having a viewfinder always on me and the moment i spot something extraordinary i know i can take the challenge - i'm all set for it! Excellent job by KM!
   I tried Canon 30D in a store before and after the purchase, surely the results are sweet, but it feels like a toy or like an aoutomatic transmission car compared to a well built solid stick shift! You drive it, not the opposite, that what makes your shots so differnet!

1. This camera is the best. This is my first digital camera. I had two cameras before this one. I had a 110 and cheap 35mm. The thing I hate most about bringing a camera is having to carry it. This camera is smaller than my wallet. I take it everywhere.
   I will tell you about the "bad" things first. When I give the camera to other people to take pictures, sometimes they put their finger over the lens. Since the camera is small some people's fat fingers get in the way. If you have small hands like me you will be ok. I have had trouble taking action shots at a distance. I think this is mostly because I don't know how to use the camera. I read the manual again and hope to correct this problem. The battery has a very short life if you take many picture. You will need a second battery and a bigger memory card. If you don't take more than 50 picture at an event you should be okay. The optical zoom could be better too.

   Now for the "great" stuff about the camera. The only reason you should look at this camera is if you want a small, point and click camera. If you want a camera with many buttons and settings to adjust to get the perfect shot, this is not your camera. The menus are easy to follow. Don't use the usb cable to send the pictures to your PC. Buy a card reader. I went to a camera store and they said there is a possibility of the camera getting fried. For the money it is worth it. I don't use the video feature. If I want videos I will buy a video camera. I bought a 128 meg SD card. I took about 500 picture at Disney and they all fit on the same card. I used the second resolution setting. With a 128 MB card I could have taken 999 pictures. I used to be conservative taking pictures. I didn't want to waste film. With this camera I take pictures of everything. If I don't like it, I delete it. I got a good deal on the price of this camera. For the money, this camera is worth it.




2. After 2 years the view finder became distorted and out of alignment. Hopefully it can be repaired but there seems to be a lot of used cameras of this model advertised. I wonder why?



3. I have had this camera for about three years, an it is a great machine.It is small, light weight, and it takes o.k. pictures. When I bought it, it only held 12 picture, (I don't know why)but I recently bought a new memory card,and it is great. You can make voice recordings, and take small video clips (35 seconds). The battery life is ok, but not what I would have wanted. Overall, this camera is a great digital camera.



4. I bought this when I was mobilized for OIF. I kept it in the pocket of my blouse the whole time, shooting pictures every where I went. Great shots, plenty of storage space. I never felt the need to use max resolution. Unfortuantely I lost it last week and am shopping for a replacement. I'm checking out the X31 and X50 which cost less than this one was.



5. Cute size encourages leisure use, but beware of the fragility of this camera. I dropped it and broke the cheap plastic battery cover and the tiny plastic battery hold-down tab. Minolta wanted $181 to replace. Seems like a rip-off since these are simple plastic parts and are easily accessible. Poor service.

1. After some researched, I brought the Kinica Minolta X60 to served as my backup to my Canon S2 IS. X60 is a small, slim and lightweight camera that is perfect for a quick photo almost anywhere because you can stick this camera almost anywhere on you.
   
   This camera is almost a purest high quality point and shoot camera you can buy with your money. Everything on it is on automatic modes of one sort or another. There are nine modes including the automatic which actually decide which mode is best for the photo. Most of the modes can be found in most digital cameras like "sports" or "landscape". A child can take a good shot with this camera and it is near perfect for any beginner who walk into the digital camera age with their eyes shut.
   
   There are few small things you can do to adjust and adapt your camera each shot. White balance can be adjusted, ISO from 50-400 can be adjusted, drive mode can be adjusted and other minor features that this camera come packed with. There is even an "anti-shake" indictor if your shutter speed is too slow and your hand is shaking too much. Use a tripod says the computer. The camera also come with a movie mode which is pretty basic as well.
   
   The housing of this camera appears to be hard plastic with a metal feel. It seem to be well built. The large 2.5 inch LCD screen seem to be most vulnerable to damage and this may be the camera's only physical weak link. Proper care and attention would be needed, a good camera case for example is a must. The large 2.5 LCD is very nice. But remembered that it serves as your viewscreen for all your shooting. The controls are bit on the small sizes. There is no way you can handled the controls of this camera with gloves for example. People with long fingernails will have an easier time then people without.
   
   The camera unfortunately, is not powered by AA batteries but by NP-700 ion battery. It got a decent life to it but I would encourage anyone buying this camera to buy couple more for back up. Buy it from a third party since Minolta overcharged for their NP-700 outragously. On the other side, X60 uses SD cards for its storage.
   
   The software that come with your camera is pretty decent sort. Some people will used it and others will not. It pretty subjective.
   
   Overall, this is a very good camera that should meet the needs of most point and shoot crowds. The small size and weight allowed it be taken almost anywhere. Only danger to that is that you might even forget that you have it with you. The camera appears to be very reliable, somewhat rugged and shoot well. This is a computer driven camera and basically all you have to worry about is point and shoot!



2. I love this camera. My wife had the x50 and unfortunately I lost it while in a trip to DR. So I decided to buy another Minolta but this time upgraded to the x60 and its even better than my x50. The picture seems to be a little brighter and not as dark as the x50. But the camera is sexy and functional. I love the fact it can slip in my pocket and never be seen. But its also the reason I lost my first one because it is so small. But if you want a compact high quality digital camera, then the minolta x60 is for you.



3. The Konica Minolta DiMage camera is one of the best consumer cameras on the market. My fiance and I have this digital camera and have taken thousands of photos with it and have been very satisfied with the camera.
   
   We love taking pictures, especially of beautiful scenery from our travels. The preview screen is large compared to the size of the camera. We also liked that it came with a rechargeable battery (which charges fully in about an hour).
   
   I highly recommend this digital camera!



4. I have had this camera for over a year now and it still does a ok job. Its very durable as I dropped it onto solid tile floor twice , several times onto the street and all that happened was the battery flew out.The Batt cover does open very easy under normal condition anyway. Barely a dent or scratch. Overall it does a great job taking pictures for the average person.However you do at times see a purple line on the LCD when taking pictures under lots of sunlight. Red eye is also seen in my pictures using the flash at night. Taking video is not the best but does the job. The price is way more now than what I paid back in 2006-$299.00. So maybe the value has gone up?? This Camera would be better priced at the $150 range.

1. To start I with I have to say that I couldn't agree more with the Jan 3rd 2007 review. I purchased this camera a year ago now (Wow, has the price dropped!).I had thought about a DSLR at the time. However, I still do mostly shoot film, especially black & white prints and color slides. I decided that a DSLR was going to be way more money then I wanted to spend on a camera that I wasn't going to use constantly. I did some research and came upon the A200. Now bearing in mind that the A200 is my first digital camera, I do have to say that I was, and still am very happy with it. The auto focus is dreadfully slow on the default setting in low light situations. However, I took the advice of the Jan 3rd 2007 review, and have eliminated that problem. The pics are noisy ISO 400, however I think I've used that setting 2 times in the year that I've owned it, not a problem for me. One more pro and one more con. First, this camera has a EVF or electrical view finder. This is opposed to a optical view finder that DSLRS have, or better yet, like all of the film cameras have / had. This can make composing pictures with movement a bit difficult. You're not viewing the scene in real time, so there is a bit of a lag in time between any movement in the scene and what you see through the view finder. Not anyhting that would make me not use the camera, just a little tricky in certain situations. Another pro about this camera is the fact that is has a ISO setting of 50. Most camers do not include a ISO this "slow," the slowest end ISO's on most cameras range somewhere bewtween ISO 100 and ISO 150. This isn't a feature I use constantly, however I do use it, and I like knowing that the option is there when I do want to use it. I have taken some really nice pics with this camera, now, they don't (and digital pics never will) compare to a beautiful color slide or contrasty B&W print. Still, this camera delivers,I have had some excellent prints result from using it. You really just have to read the owner manual and learn how to fine tune it. To this day (like the auto focus fix as an example) I am still learning how to improve on using it. It might not techinically be considered a "Professional camera," but you can definitely get "Professional" quality results from it.

I would have had to more than double my cost plus get a different memory card to have a better piece of equipment.

5. I love, love, love my little camera. It was smaller than I expected, but when I got used to it I just love the size. It is so easy to carry around. It just fits your hand perfectly. You can do pretty much anything that an SLR will do except change lens. It has some very nice features. Easy menu and function buttons. I love the swivel LCD monitor. I use that all the time. The anti shake is a great help in getting good clear images even hand holding in low light. With the 8mp you can enlarge all you want. Get one while you can still find them. I am considering buying another one just to have as a back up in case something goes wrong with the one I have.

1. PROS:
   1. Compact. small form factor.
   2. SD not CF
   3. 3X Optical
   4. Very inexpensive. I bought from Costco for $190 (but returned within 3 days because of the cons).

   CONS:
   1. All indoor pictures taken with flash came out sandy when enlarge to 200%. You can see freckles on the skin even though the person has no freckles!!!!
   2. Failed to auto focus when using the digital zoom indoors. However hard I tried to get to autofocus while in digital zoom, I couldn't. Once I brought it back to optical, it focused clearly.

   There are other pros and cons but they're minor. Some related to the user interface, some to batteries.




2. I bought this camera from Costco and the camera did the good job. It made nice and high resolution pictures. I had no problem about the digital zoom indoor or anything about the problem when zoom to 200%. All pictures are clear with no freakles on skin. I suggest use microsoft digital image pro 9 to edit and zoom the pictures. It did the perfect job. If you had any problem about the created image, your software must have problem. Now I enjoy all the pictures that I took because I really look like a professional cameraman. Five stars on this product. Oh ! except one con: battery drain too fast. Buy rechargable battery.. remember !



3. I have this camera since a few years now. The only problem is that you need to use regular batteries for it. Besides that it's perfect. I've made super crisp pictures, been able to take some of my aquarium fish, with amazing results. The pictures look like in a magazine! Really great.
   
   Plus this camera has enough funtions for everyone and is very easy to handle. There are no miniature buttons, wher you could press two instead of the one targeted for, the screen is big enough to really see instantly if your picture is good or not and you can even record videos with it depending on the size of your SD card.
   
   Can be connected to a cumputer via USB port and has not only a digital but also optical zoom. All together 12x zoom.



4. Initially I was very satisfied with this camera. It made fine pictures. And that was all I wanted. But after a few month the battery compartment cover, would not stay closed anymore. I had to wind tape around the battery cover to keep it closed. That worked for about one month. Than that would not help anymore either. Now I can make only three pictures before I have to open the camera to recharge the batteries. I am very much frustrated and will throw the camera onto the dump heap!
   Even one star is high as a rating for this piece of junk.

5. This has been my back up camera for years now I use it when the latest and greatest compact cameras I buy turn out to be junk and break. The only reason it is the back up is because I left it on the roof of my car and when it fell the battery closure broke so I need to tape it closed.
   Minolta got this one right.
