  1. The Minolta Maxxum AF 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 II Silver Zoom Lens with Lens Hood is a very good quality camera and has a low price that comes with it.

  2. This lens not only looks great, but is an outstanding performer on my Minolta HTsi Plus. This matchin silve lens and body is a nice touch, but should not be mistaken for quality. This lens is much wider than the 30mm or 35mm lenses many cameras come with and a f3.5 is relatively fast compared to other lenses like it on the market. It's large 62mm filter ring size also give you flexibility with your other lenses. Just by 62mm filters and step-up rings for your other lenses. I have been very happy with the lens, and highly recomend it.

  4. I had minolta maxxum st si camera and this lens is a perfect match for that silver color camera.

  5. I have several Minolta lenses to use on my Maxxum 9 and Maxxum 7 cameras and I use this lens frequently if I'm doing wide-angle images. To be perfectly honest, when I first bought this lens I was skeptical about how it would perform. I have shot several hundred rolls of film through this lens and I am generally quite pleased. It does very well for a lens that is rather inexpensive. It is lightweight (a welcome feature) and works very nicely indeed. I strongly recommend this lens for those wanting a short zoom lens in the wide angle area.

  1. I wanted an SLR camera that I could use manually or have it all automatic, and one I can grow with, and this is the perfect camera for that - The camera is easy to use, and instruction book, although a bit long, is very detailed and guides you every step of the way!

  2. this is a great camera. It takes great pictures and it is easy to use.

  3. After much research and shopping, the XTsi has the most versatility and features for the money. Most retail stores in the area only sell the less expensive Minolta Maxxum cameras at the same price as the XTsi here at Amazon. The panoramic option is great for those senic mountain views and the camera is truely intuitive. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is either just getting into photography or is looking to step up from a compact 35mm camera.

  4. This camera is absolutely superb in function, clarity, ease of use, and all around enjoyment. It is light, yet does not have the "cheap" feel of other cameras, the AutoFocus is quick and quiet, and it takes excellent pictures. The manual side of this camera is easy to setup and operate. Additional lenses can be had at reasonable prices. The built in flash works flawlessly. For those individuals who need an external flash, they can be purchased, although they are pricey. I recommend this camera for everyone from beginners to professionals.

  1. I bought this camera a year ago (from Wolf Camera in Charlotte). I love it! It is easy to use and produces sharp, clear photos. I have to turn off the autofocus sometimes, but that seems to be true of most AF cameras. I like how I can have complete control over the aperture and shutter speed (as well as focus), or I can let the camera control any or all of these functions. There are many other configurable features as well. I initially bought a 28-105 Sigma lens and just added a 70-300, with Macro. The lens that comes with this camera would be good to start out with.

  2. A wonderful camera for beginner to pro. The camera's many features allow you to grow from using automatic features to solely manual. Comfortable in your hands too. The eye start feature is great for action situations but should be turned off otherwise due to battery comsumption. The camera's many features allow you to use it under any and all situations and, even as a new photographer, come out with good photographic results. Many kudos to Minolta for providing one of the best instruction books I have ever seen with the Xtsi.

  3. Excelent camera with some good features. maybe the only problems is that in extreme cold or hot dont work properly

  1. This lens works well with my daughter's Maxxum4 SLR camera. It's hard to find Minolta lenses now, so we were pleased to find this one!

  1. Use this, only if you're shooting something larger than a house. The regular setting on the camera will take wide shots nicely. Keep in mind, this lens is a monster! It has it's own bag & covers that come with it, a nice feature. Also, set your camera to W when you use this lens. It helps.
Depending on your other lenses & covers/filters, you can screw this right on & use it in combination. A very sturdy lens, almost weighs as much as the camera. Have wipes handy! Also, don't extend the camera's lens with this thing on, for long. You should support the extended lens, when shooting up, as the weight will push the camera's lens back down. So remote shooting up, is out unless it's a quick shot.
Other wide angles (with steps) will fit, but they have to be adjusted first.

  2. If you want to take a picture of your couch from about 3 feet away, this is the lense that will do that. I believe it is 86mm verses the 49mm of the current lense. You put the camera into macro mode with the lense all the way in. You go into menu (function-menu, tab 5) and select wide angle lense. You do not get to zoom any more. Tennis shoes to get the right distance. Amazing how close you get before taking the picture. This lense is almost the size of the A2 camera.

Super clarity. You can purchase 3rd party lenses that give you wider.

Note: sony's digital slr is built in the minolta factory, and takes all the minolta (now rebranded sony) lenses.
