  1. I was excited about this camera because of the megapixels and the Kodak name. I ended up being very disappointed.
    CONS:
+ Eats batteries like you wouldn't believe. You'd better always carry extras, because you're definitely going to go through them while you're snapping pics.
+ I get more out-of-focus images than anything else.
+ There is no zoom, so you need to be very close to your subject. Much like disposable cameras, you take a picture of something close by and it prints out like it's a million miles away. But, if you get too close, it'll be blurry.
+ The wheel on top of the camera used to turn it on and select different modes is in a really bad place. If you buy a case or bag for the camera, often it will turn on accidentally.
+ It takes a long time after you snap a photo before you can take another photo. That irritates me!
    PROS:
    + Inexpensive
+ It has some good features, like different flash modes, a self-timer, stuff that a lot of cheaper cameras don't include
+ You can get a docking station to print directly from the camera - no computer needed
+ Once you add in a memory card, you can take a ton more pictures. I got a 128MB and it holds about 150 pics, in addition to the internal memory.

  2. This camera is a good basic camera taking pretty good pics. It doesn't hold battery life to the best extent. It is a good starter camera but isn't the best.

  3. I have been using this camera for nearly three years. For the price, this is a great deal.

The pictures it takes outside in the light or inside with plenty of light are very high quality.

The results it provides in the dark are not too impressive though. The flash is rather useless since it the bright light tends to ruin the pictures. The red eye reduction is also useless. I have taken a few pictures with the red eye reduction turned on and red eye was still clearly a problem with the pictures. There is also a bit of a delay between when you press the button to take a picture and when the picture is actually snapped. It does eat through batteries rather quickly as well.

However, with these flaws I could not reduce more than one star from this camera's rank. If you plan on doing excessive high-quality photography, I don't know why you would be looking at getting an entry-level camera of this price anyway. It is a great low price camera for occasional use.

  4. I bought this camera for an online class I was taking at the time. It was a real steal at about $100. The model I received was refurbished which may have been part of the problem. The battery life is horrible, especially if you're using the digital screen to take pics rather than the view finder. This past summer it completely shut down on me. It's great for taking general photos but not so reliable when trying to capture details. I recommend at least an 8MP model. I have a Sony CyberShot DSC right now and I LOVE it, although it IS a little pricier.

Bottomline: this is a very basic camera with not a lot of shelf life. Good for a first time buy in order to practice with a digital cam.

  5. I bought the Kodak CX7300 about maybe 5 yrs ago and it is great for first time buyers and if you do not want to capture action shots. The pictures turn out great if you are close up to a subject or outside. Action shots don't come out very well because of the slow shutter speed and the zoom is very grainy when picture is developed. It also takes too long in between shots. Overall a good first timers camera.

  1. This camera is great but only for a short time...have already had it repaired once and now once again it has just died on us and repairs are more expensive than new ones....do not buy this camera if you want it to last.

  2. A year later you can get better quality on your cell phone.

No wonder Kodak is in the toilet.

  3. I just want to add to the already available reviews: I agree with most what has been said here. Picture quality is quite below average. The same scene, just seconds apart, and you might get a different coloring in the picture (e.g. picture one is a little reddish, picture two is a little bluish). This is not too bad, though, if you just want a "I-visited-the-Brandenburg-Gate-with-Grandma" picture. I do use a Canon Digital Rebel XT for pictures that I want to turn out nice, but most of the times, the Kodak isn't too bad. If it is a little bad, mostly in low light conditions.
However: This camera is superior in sturdiness. I have taken it everywhere. I take it skiing and I fall with it in my jacket pocket, I drop it - anything. So it will probably make it a nice camera for kids (if you can explain to them that they need to wait the 0.7 seconds until it makes the "click" sound). I wouldn't buy it here, though. Go to ebay, you can get one for $30 there.

  4. I don't care if it had 100x zoom. That's not gonna matter if you cant tell what you were taking a picture of anyways. Its good for some family photos, but only if they're within 5 feet of you. The zoom function is pretty bad. Its a fun camera for a kid though. The price is just about right at about 100 dollars. It is simple to use and download off of. The zoom is just horrible though.

  5. Good Grief! What do you expect out of a low-priced camera! No, this is not a professional
let's shoot the Playmate of the Month camera. You can get those for around a thousand or so USD.
This is a versatile-use-it-out of the box camera for people just getting into digital photograhy or for those who
who want a digital camera without selling the farm. I've shot with one for about two years under some demanding
conditions. It has never failed even after it was dropped and took two bounces on top of the highest mountain in Maine.
It has always performed better than I was led to believe it would. It is not cheaply made even though it is made of plastic--it's sturdy
--no hinges have snaaped off--the lense hasn't dropped off.
Look..the camera snobs are writing misleading reviews about this camera and others. Give the people looking for a camera a break. No!
This not a Nikon, Cannon, or a Leica. It is one hell of an inexpensive digital camera that makes picture taking fun.

  1. I am very happy with my purchase. I got exactly what I wanted in perfect condition and the mailing was great. I received my camera before my expected date!!!! THANK YOU.

  2. I purchased this camera when it first became available, and used it until I updated to the z712. Although there is a two megapixel difference and the z712 has optical image stabilization, this camera is just as good if not better. The picture quality is phenominal! I passed this camera on to my sister, and not long after it ended up in a fish tank. We gave it a few days to dry and its as good as before. I always recommend Kodak to others, this camera is well worth the money! Fantastic!!

  3. I've had the Kodak Easyshare for about two years now, and loved it--great pictures, easy to hold, etc. If I had reviewed this camera until any time in the last month, I would have given it a 5 star rating.

Then one day it simply wouldn't turn on. I changed the batteries twice, and it wouldn't turn on. A quick Google search uncovered four forums with other Easyshare users describing the same problem. And the problem apparently can't be fixed, or at least can't be fixed for less than the price of a new camera, according to the local Kodak shop. I know that cameras don't last forever, but two years of taking maybe 100 photos per year? This is ridiculous!

  4. Oldie but Goodie!Pros
Quality of pictures, features, easy of use, value

    Cons
Shutter lag, red eye light effective but annoying to subjects

    Review
I have owned this camera for a few years and have used it in many situations sunlight, dark, motion shots. This is a super camera that allows to you to shoot in Auto mode or adjust settings as you become a better photographer. Very simple to use for a beginner and helped me worked up to a SLR with ease. Although I still use my Z740. The pictures look amazing and many people ask me what kind of camera I use and appear surprised when I tell them. Size is handy to just grab and go. Now for the not so great. I have better success when I set my own adjustments rather than using the Sports mode. The shutter can lag (expected), and bring along a spare battery if you plan to take alot of pictures.

  5. I've had this camera for a year and a half only taking pictures periodically. I took it on a trip and was only able to take 2 pictures before the battery told me it was dead. I thought I might have not put it on the charger correctly. I was sure to put the camera correctly on the charger to prepare for my son's graduation. When the moment came to take the picture at his graudation the battery was dead. I have a friend who also had the same problem and we bought them at the same time. So if you want a good camera for a year and a half, this is a great one. If you want one longer, it'd be best to look somewhere else.

  1. The pictures it takes are fine; my main complaints are that this camera has a slow shutter speed, it takes a long time to reset itself when I'm trying to shoot a number of pictures at once AND this camera uses up a lot of battery power (especially when transferring over photos). I wish it came with a rechargeable battery instead of requiring AA batteries.

  2. If you have a limited budget this is a good camera, the batteries run out fast and if you don't mind pressing the shutter button and the picture finally snaps which seems like 2 seconds later-this is for you. I thought this lag time wouldn't be a big deal until I used it, it became a huge annoyance and a big drawback for enjoying using this camera.

  3. This camera does work pretty good. I had a 1GB sd card and it held tons of pictures. The pictures turn out good and the camera has a good flash. The only problem I've had is that the batteries don't last very long. It seemed to do fine for about a year but about 6 months ago I noticed I would put new batteries in and they would be dead by the end of the day sometimes even sooner. The instructions say that if you use the LCD when your taking the pictures instead of the viewfinder it uses up more of the battery but I don't use the LCD so I don't think it's that. If no one else has had this problem then it may just be my camera but in my opinion it's a lot cheaper and easier to just have a rechargeable camera then to be buying numerous batteries. Or just buy your own rechargeable batteries. Other then that, I've had no other problems. It's a great, easy-to-use, beginners camera.

  4. The 7530 works fine. Like some other reviewers, battery life is very short. I've tried rechargeable NI-MH cells rated 2200 mAh each. These did not last more than a day or two. The camera seems to drain them even when not in use. This happened with AA Lithium cells also. These fresh cells lasted 2 or 3 days and were then dead.
This camera has been around and has many reviews. This seems a common problem. I wonder if it is common to all digital cameras?
Aside from this the camera is easy to use. It does take a very good picture.
When I use the camera I turn off the image display, and there are no "dirty" contacts. I can not get over how it goes through batteries.
It is bad enough to make me miss my old SLR film camera. I wanted rechargable lithiums but they are limited and may not be much better. Oh well.

  5. I bought this, my first digital camera, to document the building of my new house. It worked reasonably well at first, but when winter closed in and the builders were still hard at work, my camera wasn't. Every time I turned it on it immediately turned off again. For a while after that it still worked okay indoors, but eventually I had the problem regardless of the temperature. Occasionally if I kept turning it on I won the battle and it would stay on and take a reasonably good picture, but the next time I wanted to use it I would have to go through the same hassle. I have seen good reviews of other Kodak products, but I won't buy another. I've just replaced the camera with a Nikon S700 and the difference, both in quality of the pictures and in ease of use (make that possibility of use) is incredible.

  1. I was given this camera for christmas a few years back and I have to say I could not be happier! I love it's compact size that can fit in any pocket or tiny purse and it takes great photos. It's really easy to use, just this weekend I let my 4 year old cousin try it and even he could take great pictures. The only problem I see is that close-up pictures of people tend to sometimes get overexposed by the flash but other than that it's great!

  2. I love this camera. It takes great pictures. Bought a 1GB sd card to expand the memory and it is more than enough card for pics & short videos. I love the battery and its own charger. It fits in my camera case so I am never w/o it. Battery life is good. Had another Kodak camera for my first digital that was lost and said I wouldn't buy Kodak again but have been very happy with both cameras.

  3. The following message was sent to me from your customer service department. I am very disappointed at the responses I have received in trying to track my order and find out what went wrong with the delay. It is sad to find out that your people think that customer service and customer satisfaction is so hilarious. Your responses indicates that the customer service rep is still baffled by not knowing what went wrong with the order not being received on my end, and only is concerned about a negative comment received and his inability to gain a retraction. I set out at the start of my inquiries to simply find out where my order was, as I typed this question in to your company I could not send it without filling out your satisfaction survey. My mistake was shopping on line with a company that is of little help when it come to serving there customers. I will correct my mistake and I will be stepping back from any other purchasing from your company.

    Sincerely Tom Scully

Tom--you are hilarious---you made a mistake--left us negative feedback and now send us email after email over issues that have nothing to do with your mistake---I will chalk this one up to a horrid experience with an difficult customer. I tried....have a super day!!!

I'm still a little baffled here----we did everything right --shipped your order, you mis-placed or something and then send us emails about arrogance---wow---I think you should take a step back.

  4. First let me tell you that I am more than just a point and shoot kind of guy. (with cameras that is) This camera is one of the best I have ever owned. I brought 2 cameras with me to Iraq, the first was a Sony that took such garbage pictures that I threw it away in disgust. The second was the LS 753. 18 months in the Middle East with this camera in my ammo pouch and it still took the best pictures. It weatherd sandstorms, temps over 125 degrees, high humidity, and lots of bumpy and nasty terrain and it kept right on going. I have now been out of Iraq for over a year and the camera, although scratched up a bit still works. My only regret is that Koadk did not continue this line of cameras.

  5. This is a great digital camera for beginners (like myself). Didn't have to read the instructions at all. VERY user friendly. Unfortunately, I think Kodak has discontinued this product line, but you can easily buy parts for it as well as accessories via Ebay or Amazon.

  1. I purchased this camera a year ago. I have found more and more things wrong with the camera and am so disgusted with it that I am buying a different one. My brother and I both have the same cameras (Christmas gift from our parents) and he is experiencing the same problems. It is not just my camera that seems to have these problems!

First, the flash is VERY bright. I am constantly having to turn off the flash and turn on a room light just to get a decent picture. If I leave the flash on, his eyes are half-closed and he looks drunk. If I do not have the flash on, then the pictures are too dark. I've tried ALL the 4 or 5 setting for the flash and none of them correct this problem! I also frequently get red-eyes in my pictures even when I'm using the red eye flash!

Second, the batteries! I have the WORST time with the batteries for this camera! They die within ONE day for me! I don't even have to have the camera turned on and it is dead the next time I try to use it! I switched from using the rechargeable batteries to the regular AA batteries just so I can depend on my camera to turn on when I want a quick picture of my son. The AA's drain SO fast that I go through (literally) 3-4 sets of batteries in a given month and I do NOT take that many pictures. My brother has the same camera and he has experienced the same problems!

Third, the dock! Most of the time I have to fiddle with the dock and have the camera tilted in just the right position to get the dock to recognize that the camera is attached to it. It often turns off, even in the middle of transferring pictures. I have tried 4-5 different power outlets, and the dock acts the same way in each of them.

Fourth, the picture quality only deteriorates! When I first received the camera the pictures were of adequate/good quality. However, now ALL of them are blurry! Every single one that I take is blurry whether I'm moving or not, whether the target of the picture is moving or not, and even when using the camera function (sports, I believe) that is supposed to account for movement. None of it works now and every picture is very blurry.

Today was the last straw with this camera. I put new batteries in it just yesterday since I knew that I would be taking pictures of my son today. I went to turn it on, and it did NOTHING! I tried 5 or 6 times to turn it on and it did nothing. I eventually changed the batteries, and tried to turn it on on a different setting, and it still did nothing. I finally brought the camera in to show it to my husband and it finally turned on after he tried a couple of times to turn it on.

In sum, this camera has many problems and it only gets worse as the camera gets older. I would have expected much better quality on a camera that is about $100. My camera is approximately one year old and has been performing very, very, very poorly for at least the last 6 months, starting to have problems for at least 9 months, and only worked well for about 2-3 weeks after I got it. Save yourself the time and money and don't buy this camera. I am buying a more expensive one and hoping for better luck!

  2. Purchased this camera for a grandchild (12 yrs old) and its perfect for him. It makes great pictures and is easy to use . However, video quality is standard and ,didnt come with a charger.. but, I would recommend this for a beginner its perfect and price is reasonable...

  3. Our family bought three Kodak C340 cameras a couple of years ago. This is a summary of our experience with them. Overall rating: 'Wish we'd chosen something else'.

Pros: Picture quality is OK for our uses.
    Cons:
    * While the camera has a USB interface (with cable supplied) it is NOT recognised as a standard mass storage device, so your options are to either install the horribly bloated, insultingly dumbed down and inflexible 'Easyshare' software (which wouldn't even work on one of our older PCs), or, you can buy a flash card reader. Which is what I did.
I'll never buy another camera that requires any special software on the PCs it's used with. I just want to transfer the image files to where ever I want to put them in my filesystem, on any PC, with minimum fuss.

    * Astonishingly, when the camera is plugged into the USB cable, it is still running off batteries. If they go flat during image transfers, file corruption can result. Also, this means you can't use the camera to take photos while 'plugged in' thus saving battery life and allowing lengthy use. Another reason it's best to just use a flash card reader.

    * Fragility, poor reliability. Of our three cameras, two are now broken and unusable. The third is still OK, due to hardly ever being used. The broken two had similar histories - minor knocks broke the miniscule plastic retaining tabs on the battery cover (causing endless nuisance improvising ways to hold the cover on), and later both cameras just suddenly stopped working. On power-up, the status LED blinks a few times (presumably some error code, no mention of which in the manual), then goes dead. Screen remains black.

    * Battery life (or rather, lack of it.) As many have commented, this camera chews batteries. It takes two AAs, and with even the best non-rechargables you won't be filling up a 256MB flash card on one set of batteries. You'll be lucky to get 30 pictures. If you want to save money and use rechargables, you'll get even less shots per charge, since rechargables batteries are typically 1.2V, compared to alkaline's 1.5V. The camera seems to have a fairly high threshold for 'dead', and so on rechargables this camera conks out well before the battery is actually flat. For this factor alone, I'll never buy another 'cheap' Kodak camera.

    * However, of all the camera's 'features', the most infuriating and unacceptable is the selector knob. Some Kodak product designer needs to be fired for this. (Or shot.) The knob has unbelievably weak detents - it rotates between OFF and the various modes at a feather touch. Since the knob sticks up on the top of the camera, this means that no matter how careful you are when it is being carried (even in a camera bag) it will get switched on accidentally. Often. This combined with the extremely short battery life, means that if you want to be sure to get pictures, you have to carry _several_ spare sets of batteries.

Overall, our experience with these was rather disappointing. Sure, they were relatively low cost, but to have two out of three die so quickly, seems very poor. We won't be buying Kodak again.

  4. I am sooo disappointed. I loved this camera and the docking station when I first got it and actually up until recently. This camera did well for me for about two years with intermittant use. I cannott take pics with it anymore however. Unfortunately I discovered that it quit working on my daughter's fourth birthday. The pictures ALL come out dark no matter what I do. The batteries do not last more than a day or two. This goes for regular AA's and rechargeable. I could go on and on. I hope the newer models of this camera are better and last longer. I am going with an entirely different camera altogether.

  5. This is an awesome camera!!! That pretty much sums everything up. Great picture quality with different settings for wherever you might be taking pictures. I would definitly recommend this camera to all.

  1. I bought this for my wife for Christmas. The first unit was grainy, so I returned it to Amazon - quick and easy. The second unit resolved the problem.

I bought this as a secondary camera that we can easily carry with us. Our other camera is an expensive performance model that is bulky. To be honest, I expected to only use this occasionally. However, the size and quality has made it our primary camera. The wide mode is very cool, the quality is great and the Easy-share unit and software is idiot proof.

One more thing. This size in the picture is deceptive. This camera is tiny. Very nice for carrying around.

Well done Kodak. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the faulty initial camera.

  2. I love this camera!!! I have had it for about 2 weeks now and its the best camera I have owned!!! I got this camera at 169.99 which was a great price to me since I looked other places for about 200.00 which made me happy! I havent yet figured out how to use the panorama part yet which I am sure is a great feature but my favorite feature is how fast you can take pictures... You can take Pictures in less then a second apart! Its just point and shoot! I HIGHLY recommend this camera its small compact and has a great style!

  3. Great camera, particularly for those of us in real estate who need wide angle. Cannot say nicer things about this, best I've ever had.

  4. It isnt the greatest camera around, but it works pretty well. I really like the panoramic mode.

  5. This is my first review of anything, but I'm quite frustrated and had to write it since I just tried to take some pictures with it. I've had the camera for a year and half.

First off the positives. The wide angle capability is very nice. Taking group shots close up is amazing. The video mode is pretty nice also. Being able to zoom while taping is very nice.

Now the negatives. For some reason, when you don't take a picture in wide angle, the camera has a tough time focusing if there is not a lot of light. The pictures come out crap if you don't have good lighting, and the flash doesn't do much to help. It's hard to take good pictures with this camera if you aren't in wide angle. Note, I do have the digital zoom off. For some reason, when in wide angle even with low light, the camera is not bad taking pictures. I've taken some amazing video with this, but when playing back on the computer, you cannot fast forward or skip certain sections, the software will make you start all over from the start. The EasyShare software is very sluggish when you load up and also downloading lots of pictures and especially video. Sometimes you think it locks up, but it just takes a long time if you have more than a few pictures. I have used it on two pretty decent computers, so pretty sure it's not on my end.

I love the wide angle abilities, but this camera and software is just not good. There are more wide angle pocket sized cameras available now. Just for reference, I have the original Canon Elph SD100 and a Sony DSC-H1. I'm moving on from this camera. I'm a little surprised how well this camera has been rated so far. I know most people aren't shopping for this camera since this one's a little older now.

  1. I got this camera for my birthday, it works really well! Not very expensive, takes [usually] clean photos, but lighting can sometimes be difficult. Video is good, but no sound. =(

Good for teenagers, if it's lost/broken you're not out a lot of money, small enough to keep with you, easy to use, and great for pictures of you & friends. I would definetly recommend it.

(PS, we got one for my grandpop's birthday too, and he understands the basics. Not hard to learn)

  2. $ I just sent my camera in for repair to a location recommended by Kodak. I just received an estimate of $85.00 plus shipping, to repair the MCU, whatever that is. Anyway, as all may already know, this camera can be purchased here on Amazon for $95.00. So you be the judge. This camera should be advertised as a "disposable camera". When it costs more to repair something than to replace, it's usually called junk. Never again Kodak. Once burnt twice shy.

  3. I've been using this camera for a about 2 months now and over all its a pretty nice digital camera. Only real complaint I have is finding another USB locally. For the life of me I cant find mine and the port is so little that none of my other millions of adaptors will work. Overall a nice around time, quick snap shots of the kids camera.

  4. Why is Amazon selling a camera for $198.89 when Kodak's MSRP is US $139.00? According to the specs, this camera does not include the printer dock, so it's not the combo price.

  5. This product works very poorly, especially if you are attempting to use rechargeable batteries. I'd say 80% of the time when I try to recharge it, it is unsuccessful and I have to totally discharge and recharge the batteries -- which takes more than 8 hours. And sometimes even the total discharge-recharge cycle does not work.
The quality of the pictures is not great either -- using the zoom lens to the slightest degree will result in blurry pictures.
In addition, Kodak's customer service/support is just terrible. Just before I special occasion I ordered new batteries and paid extra for rapid shipping. Turns out the batteries were backordered, so they weren't shipped until after the occasion. But by the time they told me about this, they said it was too late to cancel the order. So I ended up spending an extra $15 for two-day shipping for a product I didn't get for two weeks. I tried to contact them to complain, and they sent an automatically generated email saying they'd get back to me in 8 hours. Well, it has been more than 8 weeks, and I've sent multiple other emails, and have yet to get a response.

  1. Let me begin by saying, I'm not a professional. I take photos for fun and to record events in my life. However, with this camera, I have been able to take some amazing photographs that I'm truly proud to show to friends.

The zoom is phenomenal and was the reason that I upgraded from my previous camera that had only a 10x zoom. This zoom has allowed me to take great photos from spectator stands and at shows that would have looked ridiculous with a camera with a smaller zoom capacity.

My favorite feature is the close-up feature which has allowed me take some stunning photos of my flowers and of birds roosting on my feeders. I've consistantly found my photos to have vivid coloring and crisp details which is something my other cameras lacked.

For the amateur that wants to take fantastic photos that makes your friends say, "Wow!" this is a great camera. The only issue I've had with the camera is taking photos of heavily lit situations at night such as Christmas light displays, etc. No matter what setting I used, the photos still came out a bit unfocused.

However, everything else is superb. A fantastic buy.

  2. I love the pictures this thing takes. Some of them look like they were taken by professionals for national geographic. But they were just pictures of my cat.

But I have a HUGE problem with the PC interface. You have to use Kodak's software to transfer to a PC. With my olympus, I just hooked in the USB cable, went to My Computer, found the camera, then dragged and dropped the photos where I wanted them. No large programs to load, no creating albums, no setting default options, etc. Just drag and drop using the windows explorer interface. The so called "easy"share software won't allow that.

So I find myself using my old olympus, because after all, I'm just taking pictures of my cat.

  3. There are a couple of "minor" quirks of this camera but let me say first that it's one of the best 5mp "near-SLR" DCs on the market.
First quirk: In video mode, the zoom is disabled. Being able to zoom in and out in movie mode is basic and I'm not sure why this camera doesn't support it. But, it's a DC not a camcorder.
Second quirk: If you buy the 58mm adapter so that you can put a protective filter over the lens, the built in flash gets cut off by the collar and the pictures are dark in the lower half. If this is a problem, keep the stock lens cap on and be a little more careful with the lens. Flash can be solved with a "head 'n handle" flash unit (from $10 on ebay). External flash connection was a BIG selling point for me.
This camera has become my light meter for my film SLRs. Instead of taking readings, I use the bracketing function +,- EV to find the best looking shot on the large, bright viewfinder/screen. Click on "Info" and see exactly what fstop and shutter will expose that old-fashioned and expensive 35mm film perfectly!

  4. The camera takes very good pictures, but the overall size makes it cumbersome to carry around. In the two years I've owned it, I brought it with me less than I would've for a smaller camera with worse optics. On hikes it is pretty much impossible to bring along because it's too big to fit in some day packs.

And after only having this camera for two years and using it sparingly, it will not work now because the camera electronics will not fully charge the battery. Purchased replacement batteries, which are specific to this camera, but these will not fully charge either. For the price of the camera quality control should be significantly higher, buy a Canon, or something that will let you use standard sized (AA, etc.) batteries at least, instead.

  5. I live in a small town and am kind of the resident camera expert and have bought digital cameras online for about 25 people. I have owned this model of Kodak camera (twice, in fact - have now upgraded to a DSLR) and have bought it for about 5 of my friends. It is a great camera. It takes very sharp, clear outdoor photos with excruciating detail. It does a better job than most, indoors with a flash. Very vibrant colors. It's quite fast and has good flash range and recharge time. It has 10x optical zoom which isn't stabilized, but I never had any problems with blurring, even at maximum zoom range (granted, I am quite good at holding a camera steady).

Kodak has one of the easiest to use menus in the business and this one is no exception. I am also a fan of the joystick design which makes navigating a "joy". This camera is practically indestructible. It seems to be faster and takes better photos than the newer models that Kodak has put out lately (z712, a612). I even liked this model better than the P850 which is supposed to be their professional model, but it is much heavier and doesn't have anything on the dx7590 in the performance department. I keep recommending this one to people over and over again. I only held back one star because of the grainy lcd (the photos are never grainy - just the screen) and very slight amounts of softness in some images - which is very typical of Kodak. Overall, it's one of the best cameras I've owned - and I've tried almost every brand and model out there.

It's interesting to me how a camera company can get some models right and others are not so good. This one was a winner.

  1. I bought this camera for my wife for Christmas. She has asked me for the last 6 months for a digital camera and finally broke down and got her one. She loves it. It simple straigth forward. She is 100% happy.

  2. I bought this for my 12 year old daughter and while perfect for her, it would not be something I would purchase and enjoy for myself. The shutter speed is way to slow for me. I do own a Kodak that I love, but sadly Kodak doesn't make it anymore. Maybe I am just comparing this one to mine. The one I have is a Kodak V705 with the dual lens, very fast and takes excellent pictures.

  3. I would stick with Nikon & Canon, you're best off in buying those than wasting your time on this camera. I hate to give bad reviews on a product but this camera is really below poor on it's image qualities, I just can't believe the price Kodak had on this camera. The pictures are also grainy. Let's just say my phone camera takes better pictures than this camera, no exaggeration!

  4. THE CAMERA WAS AS DESCRIBED AND A GREAT PRICE. THE SHIPPING WAS EXCELLENT. PLEASURE TO DO BUSINESS WITH.
    THANKS

  5. This camera will not charge from the USB port. Be prepared to buy a separate charger. Kodak needs to acknowledge this problem. Don't believe me? Read all the complaints on their own web site message boards. Nice camera and it takes nice pics but does not recharge with USB port.
