- The Kodak C643 is a great digital camera. It comes with a load of features and is super easy to use. I have to say the photo quality is pretty good. Obviously the quality of the photos is not as nice as professional equipment but I have to say it is pretty good (especially for the price)! The camera runs on 2 AA batteries. You want to make sure that you use rechargable AA batteries as they last a long time on a single charge. Regular AA's will not last long enough. You can buy a pack of 4 rechargable AA's with a charger for about $20 at just about any electronic store or even at Target. This is a great camera overall!
- I'm very disappointed with Kodak. They dropped the ball in manufacturing this camera, which was made very poorly. I have had two of these cameras break on me in the span of 14 months. When I first purchased the camera, it didn't work after about 2 days. I didn't drop it or mishandle it; the camera's red light just kept blinking furiously at me, despite my numerous battery changes. I took it back to Staples where it was purchased and luckily, because it had only been 2 days, got a new camera. I rarely used the camera as I own a couple others, and after about a year and two months, and about a dozen uses, the camera again wouldn't turn on. I called Kodak and they told me because it was just 2 months past a year, it was no longer under warranty and it would cost me a whopping $90 to have the camera repaired. Never mind that the camera itself cost me about $130. Kodak thinks I'm stupid enough to pay nearly the full amount for another version of this shoddily constructed camera. When I asked to speak to a manager, the Kodak rep kept me on hold for about 20 minutes. I guess it's their idea of customer service.
Never again will I buy a camera from Kodak.
Buyer beware.
- I received this camera for Christmas 2006. So far, I have used it numerous times and in many various situations. I wouldn't say that it is the best quality out there, but for people on a budget and without spending tons of money on something, the quality is great. i have used it with and without the printer dock. The printer dock takes a while to print a picture but other than that the dock is fairly easy to use and it "finds" your camera once it's loaded and with the press of a few buttons you can choose what size pic you want to print and how many copies. It's pretty user friendly overall. I agree with some of the other reviewers in that, the manuals aren't great to understand. it takes some reading and time to figure them out. As for the camera itself, I really have enjoyed using it. I have taken it on many trips, including Disney World, and New England in the fall. In the fall, I captured many fantastic pics and while driving in a car, the quality of the photo was pretty decent considering we were driving 70mph and with a glare on the window. I like the different settings there are depending upon night, movement, snow, beach, etc. Those really do make the pic better. My biggest complaint is it didn't capture the magnificence of the fall foliage colors as they are in person. I had to tweak my photos with my computer to make them brighter and with more contrast to bring out the color. The camera is real user friendly with the menu buttons and video portion especially for older parents (like mine) not from a technological era like myself. They find easy to use. It doesn't capture night photos that well even on the night feature. I have had to take some pics over and over again to capture just one thing. It also takes a lot longer for a night photo to flash, and you have to hold the camera real steady the whole time in order for the pic not to come out blurry. Other than that, I have been really happy with my Kodak camera and it's a great camera for those just starting in digital photography, those who aren't real technologically savvy, or those kids who want a camera without all the complicated buttons etc. If you purchaase the rechargeable batteries, the camera will last a long time. When I was in New england, I used my camera almost continuously off and on for about 2 days before I had to recharge. I also purchased a 2 GB SD card and reduced the resolution on the camera and I was able to take over 2000 photos and videos. I agree with other reviewers in that the sound on the video is surprisingly good. I didn't think it would be, but at Disney, I taped some performances and even from a far distance with the zoom in place the sound was really good. I uploaded to my computer, and I can literally relive the shows like I am there all over again. The quality of the photos when printed is also very good compared to some of my older version cameras. I would definitely recommend this camera, especially if you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars or more and don't want buttons to confuse you to the point your camera spends its days on a lonely dusty shelf :( And who wants a lonely camera?? I know I want a happy camera smiling every time I go to use it :)
- I bought this camera a year ago and love it. The PQ is excellent, but you'll need a very steady hand to have clear pictures using the digital zoom. Image stabilization is lacking on this camera but, for me, it's not an issue 99% of the time.
You'll really come to love this camera if you invest in an accessory kit that includes following:
1GB memory card
4 Rechargeable batteries & a charger
Carrying case
When I bought mine, it was offered as a kit that included the accessories I noted above. I'm glad I did. The memory card alone takes your picture capacity up to over 950 shots!
- The worst camera I've ever owned. Picture quality is horrible. A very bad Camera indeed. I will never buy any Kodak camera anymore. Highly disappointed. I bought this Camera almost 2 years now and I get horrible pictures whenever used. I am going for a Canon or Sony camera.

- I purchased this camera in January 2007 for a trip to Australia. This is the first digital camera I've owned, and I wanted something very easy to use. It worked perfectly, took great pictures in all situations; groups, portraits, night shots, landscapes, indoor or outdoor. I don't take a lot of photos, but wanted good pictures of my vacation, and this camera performed well, was incredibly easy to use. I purchased rechargeable batteries and they lasted very well. I loved this camera up until a week ago when I pulled it out to take some family photos, and the LCD was a black blank. Everything else worked, menu, flash, photo review, lens, etc, but no image on screen, and no image if photo was taken. Contacted Kodak and since I can not find my receipt it will cost approximately $80 to repair. I have since heard this is a relatively common problem with these cameras as they approach one year-when they go out of warranty. I'm buying a different brand as a replacement
- We had a Kodak EasyShare before we bought this one, and the zoom/lens stopped sliding out, which made the camera no longer work. We had it for about 13 months, and so it was not under warranty, and it would have cost more to fix it than it was worth, so we just tossed it.
We went ahead and bought another one though, because it had great features for the $$ I think it's good quality and it's easy to use. I like the menu and the ease of use, and the picture quality is good. I looked at a lot of other cameras in the same price range, and this one seemed to offer more and have a better zoom. We've had it for several months, and So far so good, no lens problems. If the same thing fails on this one, then I doubt I buy it again.., but since my kids dropped the last one a few times I didn't think it was fair to blame Kodak.
From my reasearch, as well as some of the cameras that my friends/family own..,
I think when compared to other cameras in the same price range, this one is superior in quality of photos, features, zoom, and ease of use. If your willing to go up a little in price, check the Minolta. Overall I've been happy with this camera.., it's done all we need it to.
- I got this camera for less than 100 dollars. I love it. I hardly ever used it until I went to FL over the 2007 Christmas Holday. I went to Disneyworld and this camera fulfilled my expectations and more. I took still pictures and video with it. Mind you I bought a Memory card as without one you cant hold many picutures or videos. I never ran out of memory and the pics and videos were great !!! The only negative thing I have to say is the batteries sure go fast. I am thankful now that I had invested in an Energizer battery charger with rechargable batteries. I used the rechargeable batteries taking pictures in NYC and they lasted much longer than the regular batteries!! Buy this camera and you wont be sorry!!!!!
- The camera is nice, screen is clear, creates nice pictures. A great camera for a teen or anyone who needs to get used to taking digital pictures. The only problem with this camera is that it eats batteries. I would suggest purchasing rechargeable batteries. Also my daughter's camera only lasted a little over a year, and then it broke. When I took it to a camera shop to see if it could be repaired, they told me the computer chip was damaged due to age, and would cost more to replace it than to buy a new one.
- The camera came with a poor excuse for a rechargeable battery pack. A full charge would handle shooting no more than a dozen to maybe a dozen and a half pictures. It didn't take me long to start using Duracells.
Shortly after I'd had the camera a year, and of course shortly after it went out of warranty, it quit working. It soured me enough that it will NOT be replaced a Kodak anything.

- We did purchase this camera through Amazon but when we received it it worked for taking one picture and the screen went black, not to work again. We were disappointed but were very satisfied with the ease of the return and purchased the same camera at a retail store, but we did have to pay a little more. We would have just exchanged the camera but there were time constraints that had to be met. Awesome camera, easy to use, great features, like video and music.
- After reading several reviews out here in cyberspace I decided to buy this camera. I needed something small and reliable for a mission trip to Guatemala. It made it through two orphanages which includes "Take my picture and then, let me see!...do it again!" plus some video of ziplining through the trees there. It worked great!
I was disappointed that it did not come with a charger since I did not have my laptop with me, however, I soon discovered that my iPhone charger worked just fine!
- I love this red color and very easy to take everywhere with me. But it take long time to record, have to wait longer for the next picture. My sony cemera dont have that issue.
- I love my Kodak Easyshare. It takes great quality pictures. It's very easy to use and the instruction booklet makes learning how easy. The ruby red color is fun and sassy!
- Had a Kodak for years that I loved so I decided to upgrade to the M853 for more mega pixels and because it looked cool. What a mistake! The lens is SLOW! Half of my pictures are blurry which is really annoying because I was taking pictures of a wedding and others of my young niece and most looked terrible when I got them to my computer. The blur feature is only somewhat reliable as many pictures that are blurry still have a green hand which is supposed to mean they are clear.
I read mixed reviews about this camera before I bought it but decided that since my old Kodak was great that this one was sure to be great too. It is not. I really wish that I had returned this camera and now it is to late.
I am going on a trip soon and have decided that I will be using my old camera instead of this new one. A total shame!

what a nice camera!.... you can highlite, crop and fix the photo all in the camera!...also it stores your pics when your memory card runs out....the lcd screen is large and clear and you can see the screen even in the bright sun!....i highly recommend this product!
- I bought this camera last October. I have been very disappointed with it. It takes great outdoor pictures but for indoor pictures it is a crap shoot. They might look good on the screen but once downloaded too often they are blurry or grainy. The flash can be harsh on the eyes when used, especially with kids and in my opinion make the picture too bright. And not using the flash the pics are worse than ever. I am tired of getting cameras that take great outdoor pics and HORRIBLE indoor pictures. Course I have just been sticking to Kodak easyshare cameras so might be time to change brands.

lets u film movies in HD mode one problem is the movie uses 700GB thats bigger then a dvd for less then 20 minutes worth lenth . I wanted to save theese to cd - r rom but the movie I made with the camera where too big just the same size as a hollywood dvd . the other problem was Downloading the movie to my pc after dueing so the movie kept freezing up on my pc when playing. Can any body tell me why it skips on my pc. I was filming on boat in fast motion but it downloaded with slipping problems. when playing it on the camera it dident have that problem. its possible it downloaded with problems.. all it takes it one crew up and u wont be happy with this camera. Any body else having this problem ?? reply to my question & I will read it latter, thanks
- This is a great camera for the average consumer. Probably one of the better consumer level cameras. If you want anything better, you're going to have to spend more money on a professional camera.
I received the camera as a wedding present to replace my 5 year old Kodak Easyshare 4MP camera.
I am very pleased with this gift.
The video mode is very nice. I like how it will automatically focus to deal with lighting issues.
The quality of the video is also very nice. Obviously not as clean and crisp as a digital camcorder, but still very nice for a camera.
The images are very, very excellent, as stated above. I love the variety of pre-set modes that come included with the camera. No longer do I have to mess around with the ISO or shutter or lighting settings. The modes automatically do it for you. Though you may need to tweak the settings a little bit to your liking. Though, make sure to change back the settings when you are done with them, otherwise your pictures will look different. If a mode is selected and you turn it off, the next time you turn it on it will be back in the default Auto mode.
I also love how the camera plays sounds whenever there's an error or something else happens. THankfully though, you can turn the sounds off if you don't like them.
The only tiny nitpick I have about this product is the battery. The battery works quite fine. It has a long life. The only thing is it is Kodak's own proprietary battery. You cannot use AA's or AAA's you already have. You have to use their own Lithium battery. Again, it really isn't a problem, just a tiny nitpick. Thankfully the battery is very long lasting and charges up fast. From an empty batter to full charge is only 90 minutes or so.
All in all, this is the best consumer level digital camera I've ever had, and I've had quite a few. It is easy, lightweight, and provides excellent pictures and settings.
- First off, let me just say that I'm a Canon believer. The only reason I have this camera is because I got it at work as a prize. I've owned a Canon A40 (2MP) and a Canon A80 (4MP). I've never been too big a fan of Kodak's build quality (cheap plastic on many lower end models) and have always been skeptical about their image quality.
The good thing about this camera is that it feels solidly built. I can't really attest to it's durability, as I've never been unfortunate enough to have dropped it. Kudos to Kodak for the appearance of the camera - it's a good size, has a solid weight, and the screen looks really nice. The buttons are small and difficult to distinguish but functional enough. The menu isn't as intuitive as what I've used on my Canon's, acceptable, but not great.
The real weakness of this camera lies in it's picture quality. Since my A80 is only 4MP, I figured that this would be a nice upgrade for me, regardless of my preference to Canon's design and interface. I only recently had a real chance to use the camera and it was then that I learned that it's image quality was not adequate for me.
I was visiting Sea World, and I took my A80 and the v1003. We were taking pictures with both cameras of the same shows and after I got home, I began comparing the shots in iPhoto. I was disappointed by the amount of noise/grain in the v1003's shots. My Canon shots were generally brighter and certainly not plagued with noise. Even some outdoor shots in bright daylight couldn't match up to those of the Canon. The shutter response was slow, despite prepping for the shot, there was too much lag. Most of the action shots were caught with the Canon. Even more disappointing was the video quality. This camera records at 640x480, much better than my Canon's 320x240, but the compression is horrible. I like that I was able to zoom in and out as I recorded (a feature that my A80 lacks) but I was completely unimpressed after seeing the videos on my computer.
Certainly this camera is priced cheaper than what I have paid for either of my Canon's when they were available, but the quality is still inexcusable. I won't say that the camera is completely worthless, but even at Amazon's price, it is a hard sell if you are even remotely serious about the quality of your photos. This is a good camera for "fun" occasions and may be enough for a school student to take pictures of their friends. I wouldn't count on it for a major event or a family trip. The v1003 failed to take the roll of my A80 and since then I decided to purchase a Canon SD870.

- My teenage son bought an M753, having investigated it. I was thinking about buying a digital camera so I asked him why he picked this one. Lots of features too numerous to mention here. So I got one and love it's compact size and weight as much as the features. My teen daughter has since bought one and uses it all the time. Also love that it takes videos. And when my son lost his on a trip, he bought another one. Can't say it better than that!
- This camera is very good for all kind of people. I love it, too. The product design is great, the speed is good, and especially, this camera support many languages! That is great! However, every products have good and bad point. This camera can't adjust the picture quality. Only we can adjust using CCD size. The maximum file size of picture is about 1Mbyte only with 7.0M CCD. That is also good point for generaly, but some people need highest quality pictures sometimes, then this camera is not enough. However, totally I can recommend this camera any other people.
- i totally enjoyed the speed of shipping,[i ordered on a late tuesday night and i recieved it early thursday morning.] it was standard shipping too!
the camera itself is a great buy.i really researched the item and made sure it was right for me,and it exceeded my expectations.it took me a little while to totally figure out the whole camera itself, but the basics are incredibly easy.the effects and editing features are great for all those no-too-professionals that love capturing fun moments with friends.
terrific camera and shipping overall!!!
- June 12, 2008 The salesman did not tell me the Video part of this camera was saved in the MOV mode. The MOV mode is the APPLE (Quicktime) video. This means that when you download a movie on a Windows computer, you must have QUICKTIME loaded to play a movie you took in this camera on your PC. Not fun! Then the pictures are blurry! The worst thing is when I bought this camera, it does not take AA batteries like most do. It has a rechargeable battery which is expensive to replace. If you travel and the battery runs low, you have to go recharge it! Awful. I returned this and bought a Samsung 860 in Pink for $30 lower price. And I just love the Samsung 860 which has the AVI mode for videos so it plays in the Vista Windows Media Player and saves great to watch on a DVD on my TV.
- A nice, compact camera that is at a really good price. takes good pictures though there is a tendency toward red eye when subjects are photographed with the flash head on. A good camera for beginners or for having as a back-up camera, which is what I bought it for.

- I got this camera for my wife to use in her pre-school classroom. It serves that purpose. I've made the mistake of taking this on short family trips where I don't want to lug my DSLR, and have been extremely disappointed in the pictures quality. Very noisy and dull looking even in well lit conditions. My previous point-and-shoot was a Kodak DX7440 which produced much much better pictures. I'll be looking for another compact camera to replace this toy.
- I bought this for my teenage daughter. She has taken over two thousand pictures since December. And I tell you, they are sharp and look great. I also have a 6MB and a 3MB camera, and this 7MB camera is noticeably better in image quality. The few low quality pictures I've seen are due to motion blur, which you get with any camera without a tripod. Sometimes the LCD looks a little greenish. The video also works well. It doesn't seem to be 30 fps, but maybe more like 15-20. Still very viewable for most situations.
So why do all the other reviews say the pictures are grainy? I have no idea. I say, try it in the store if you can. Take a picture and then look at it in the viewfinder and zoom in. Try that with a few cameras and see how this compares. My daughter and I are very pleased.
- I've had this camera since December, when I got it as a Christmas present from my dad. I've used it to take hundreds of shots of my friends at school, and here is my list of pros and cons for this camera:
Pro:
- Convenient: It is very light and smal in size. It fits into many handbags, and isn't hard to carry around.
- Settings: It has a wide range of settings you can use to take pictures with.
- Easy-to-use: The buttons and the wheel on the camera are pretty self-explanatory. After fundling around with it for a little while, I got the hang of it fairly quickly.
- Digital Image Stabilization: My friends are always moving around, and this feature comes in handy when trying to snap shots of them.
- Screen: The screen takes up the majority of the back of the camera. You can clearly see the entire picture on that little screen.
- Flash: The flash of this camera is extremely bright.
Cons:
- Grainy: The other reviews weren't lying-- the pictures taken by this camera are fairly grainy. Under the "Auto" setting, the camera functions pretty well; but under any other setting, such as Digital Image Stabilization, blown-up copies of these images will come out grainy.
- Slow reaction rate: I'm fairly sure there's a technical term for this, but this is what my friends and I refer to it as. The camera will not instantaneously take photographs-- a second or two may elapse between the press of the button and actual taking of the photograph. This may be due to the camera automatically focusing itself, but you may miss many snap-or-miss moments with it.
- Too-senstive "Auto" Setting: This camera will be able to detect even the slightest shaking of your hand when on Auto. Pictures may come out blurry as a result of this, and this is another reason why I am forced to resort to the Digital Image Stabilization setting.
All-in-all, however, I think this is a good camera for casual use. It's a nice camera for kids to use, since it's rather cheap in price and still performs all the regular functions a camera should.
- Good little camera for the basics, I dropped my first one once and busted the LCD, just went with another one since I have all the batteries and accessories. Small, takes great pictures and is easy to download.
- I "upgraded" to this camera and regret it. I love the fact that you can charge it with a USB cable, and dont have to worry with batteries. But, after having it for less than a year, the only thing the USB cable does for me is charge it -- it no longer works for uploading photos to the computer. Luckily we have a laptop and I can just take my memory card out and put it in the laptop to upload them.
The photo quality is no good. It is very grainy no matter what ISO or flash settings you use. Also, when I take pictures with it, it makes the sound like the picture was taken, but it pauses for a second or two and THEN it actually takes the picture?! It has done that several times, and ruined several shots.
This camera is not worth $150 and I would not recommend it to anyone, ever. It's cheaply made and does not take good photos.

- Owned this camera less than 1 year and its in the shop for the second time. Customer support was okay the first time but sucks now because they put me on hold for so long that I didn't get the issues resolved. I'm willing to try another Z612 before switching brands because I love the picture quality and the ease of operation.
- This camera worked good for about six months, then it would just shut down. It will turn itself off, and won't turn back on. I sent it in to be repaired while it was still under warranty. They returned the camera to me without fixing the problem. So I sent it back and now they are telling me I have to pay $150 to have the camera repaired or I can buy a different kodak camera and get 15% off. Even though the camera was sent back to me the first time without being repaired while it was under warranty, they will not fix it. Nobody at Kodak or precision camera was willing to stand behind the camera or the warranty.
- Is is just me or has anyone else experienced a grinding noise coming from this camera?? Right out of the box, it sounds like a little motor wants to shut down. Is this normal?? I didn't expect the camera to make any noise aside from zooming in and out. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced the same thing.
- I bought this camera a little over a year ago, it was great at first and got some really nice pictures. After a bout 6 months it started to act up, Since then I have had to send it in to kodak three times. The camera will no longer focus and I am upgrading to a real SLR...DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CHEAP CAMERA... I lost some really important moments to blurry pictures because of this camera.
- I bought this camera in Nov 2006 for $250.00. I had to send it into Kodak for repair six month later. The camera would show a white screen on outdoor picture. The camera was repaired under warranty. Eight month later the same problem occured. This time Kodak wants $135 + sales tax + $10 for shipping to repair it for the same issue. It is a piece of junk. Kodak now offers a 15% coupon trade in towards on a new camera. So I give thme my crappy camera and they send me a 15% discount towards the purchase of a new camera. Then turn around and resale my camera to some else. I will never buy another Kodak product. Buyer beware! Save you money. JUNK JUNK JUNK!
