5 comments about Olympus Camedia C-3020 3MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom.
  1. I have owned my camera now for several years and still love it.
My only wish would be that it would have a better zoom range.

    My favorite features include:

    Fill in flash
    no flash
    sepia tone
    black and white tone

I use these features on a daily basis.

I find it is great that I can immediatly view my photo taken for a few seconds without changing the mode, it really helps.

I have used this camera everywhere you can imagine.

It is not the smallest of camera's but I can fit it in a fanny pack or belt bag when on a trip.

The lens cap snaps on and does fall off with even just a little nudge but it does come with a small thin cord to attach it to your camera strap.

The batteries used are 4 AA, they will last longer if you don't constantly do a "slide show" or use the lcd screen as a view finder. Use the actual view finder and limit viewing and you will be surprised by how much you can use them. I do use rechargables as I like to take photos all the time and it saves me lots of money.

It does come with a small memory card, but I used a 128mb from the start. I can now take about 169 pictures are high resolution.

My photos come out great! Many of my friends and family ask me to take their photos now.....all because of the great shots.

There are many, many features with this camera that I haven't even touched upon but check out the Olympus website for more info.

  2. I have owned this camera for approx. 18 month and I still love it. It is one of the easiest digital cameras to get to know and use. From the first day I got it I had it out of the box and shooting right away. It's that simple. The only negative factor of the camera is the lack of a Hot Shoe Flash option. The C3020Z has several flash options for various lighting conditions; however, I have grown in my photography and require more advanced lighting options. As a starter camera this is a perfect introduction to digital photography. It has certainly helped me to expand in my Digital skills and knowledge, but as I move towards being a Professional Amateur I have out grown this model. That's my $0.02.

  3. There are plenty of digital cameras that are smaller, lighter, more portable than this, but I wouldn't trade this camera for any of the newer models I've seen. This one is really easy to use (especially for basic functions such as still photos, use of zoom, photo viewing, and file transfer) and the manual is well-written and easy to understand. The picture quality is excellent, and to be honest is usually a lot better than I need. I generally end up saving the files at much lower resolution than possible, and still get clear quality images. Also an extremely durable camera in my experience...I have gone through many, but have been using this one for several years now, with no troubles beyond having to change the batteries once in a while. Highly recommended.

  4. I've had this camera for almost five years now and never once have I had any problems. It takes great pictures and is easy to use. It does eat up regular AA batteries but if you get rechargable they last for a long time. It's nothing fancy but still works wonders. Coming from someone who has had loads of experience with this particular camera I would say it is definately a good buy for someone looking for something basic but still good. The picture quality is amazing, I just uploaded three of my favorites taken on a trip to England that you can check out if you need to see for yourself.

  5. This is a camera (similar to the C-3000) whose time has come and gone. It is old technology with a serious delay between shutter release and flash. It is very hard to take a low light picture without the person blinking due to the flash delay.

At only 3 MP, and very heavy/bulky to hold and carry, you can do much better with a more advanced newer model camera. The smart media cards the Olympus requires are very expensive (get a 128 MB but they're never on sale anymore) and fragile in contrast to the newer less expensive memory media available with other newer cameras.

Be aware that the 30-second movie clip mode does not record sound. The camera does have many features but they are not intuitive nor user friendly and most people will just point and shoot.

If you do buy this camera make sure you get a lens mount extender as you can damage the lens/motor if you accidentally turn on the camera with the lens cap on (motor makes a grinding noise).

This camera "eats" alkaline batteries, so you'll also need to get 4 NiMH batteries and a fast charger. I recently sold my C-3020 on an auction site after I bought a 5 MP Canon SD 450 from Amazon. The Canon is light years ahead of the Olympus and Amazon has an excellent price for it. You get what you pay for.

  1. The camera was reasonable for the first few months I owned it. It took pictures that were about what you'd expect for the price, and were perfectly passable for someone like me who just wants to take shots of memories.

However, less than a year after purchase it will no longer focus and cannot take a recognizable picture. I don't just mean that pictures are blurry, I mean that pictures look like some sort of thermal map from space.

It turns out this is a common problem with the focus mechanism. There are lots of message board posts from other users who ran into the same problem after owning it for a while and Casio will fix it for 150 dollars (practically the price of the camera). My particular camera hasn't been treated roughly or knocked around, and it isn't in constant use. In my opinion, any machine that fragile is defective, but apparently, although it's a known issue, Casio considers it to be an abuse problem.

Don't waste your money. There are plenty of great cameras out there.

  2. I've had this camera for a little less than a year and have had mixed emotions about it. The small size of the camera and the large screen is a huge bonus. It's also very light which makes it easy to bring anywhere; unfortunately it's best for casual snapshots. Unless you are outdoors and it's well lit, you are going to struggle getting photographs. I have since upgraded to a Nikon D40 (dSLR) for my real pictures and have the Casio as back-up "just for fun" camera.

    Pros:
    -Great battery life
    -Huge display screen (2.5 inches!)
-Metal design feels sturdy in your hand
-Small! You don't even notice it in your pocket or purse.
-Best shot settings are helpful when you don't know what settings to use.

    Cons:
-No actual viewfinder. Trust me, you need that. If it's even remotely sunny, it's so hard to see the display; therefore making composition, immpossible.
-A lot of noise in low light situations.
-Flash is very harsh, even in the soft setting, giving a lot of pictures the washed-out drunk party picture effect.

Don't get me wrong, I do still love this camera to bring along when I don't want to risk damaging my D40. I just wouldn't solely rely on it.

  3. I COULDN'T ASK FOR ANY MORE IN A CAMERA. I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY AND TAKING PICTURES OF LANDSCAPES AND SO FORTH. THIS CAMERA DEFINATELY DOES MY PICTURES JUSTICE. I DID A SCHOOL ART PORTFOLIO PROJECT, CAME OUT BEAUTIFUL. nOT TO MENTION, THE MANY PICTURES OF MY BELOVED FAMILY AND FRIENDS! <3

  4. I have owned my Ex-Z60 for about one year . It has proven to be a very nice Camera ! In every mode I have chosen the results have been excellent ! Well designed and quite easy to use ! I have a small Leica D - Lux 3 MP Camera , and sometimes I have to search the Properties mode to determine Casio usage ! I own several other Camera Models , and find I use my Casio Ex-Z60 , quite often . I think some reviewers are lint- picking in some respects ! R E Keay

  5. This is my second camera and shame on me for giving Casio a second chance. The "customer service" was horrible, rude and not helpful at all. I have had several camera's in my professional life and have to say that I will never buy this brand again after the way I was treated!

  1. The camera is fine as long as nothing goes wrong. Fuji has the worst customer service I have ever delt with. They pass you from one person to another and do everything they can not to help you. Be prepared to deal with the worst customer service in the business. I really hope this helps you.

  2. I enjoy this camera, it has all the features I had in my "film" cameras but with the easy download right into my computer. I Love it.

  3. This camera is very good. I've got a year old son so I decided to buy this camera so I can finally start taking pictures of him. Not only I enjoy taking pictures but also I love to record him which is so easy with this thing because it's small and since I use the 4GB memory card I can tape one hour without changing the card or the batteries. Really great camera!!!!

  4. I got this Camera for my birthday and its superb. The improvement in picture quality and facilities since I bought my only previous digital Camera five years ago has to be seen to be believed.

This is smaller than my previous Camera has more facilities, and requires half the number of batteries. The basic settings are:
    Auto
    Movie
    Landscape
    Portrait
    Digital Zoom
    Red Eye Reduction
    Picture Stabilization
    Baby Mode

To be honest Auto and Movie are the only two I've used. The movie facility (with sound) is unlimited within the limitations of the memory card. The 1GB card provided will give you almost 1/2 an hour of video. The picture quality is very good and its easy to link to your PC. With the benefit of photo software even the most average picture can be cropped to look good.

Another excellent feature of this Camera is the large viewing screen (54mm x 40mm).

A great little Camera that does everything I need.

  5. Spent 8 days in the Idaho interior on a ATV trip, shot hundreds of pictures, not one bummer!!!! This camera is a true point-n-shoot model with enough extras to make any camera buff happy. Was really happy with the camera. I tried almost all settings from landscapes to macros, you just can't take a bad picture. If I could rate this camera higher I would give it 10 stars!

  1. I found this by accident, and if you are tired of taking perfect digital pictures this is a lot of fun. People will look at you funny when you take off the lens cap and they see all nine lenses. Sometimes my wife cuts the pictures apart for scrapbooking. It really works.

  2. Shutter button broke during first roll of film. I also purchased Fisheye, which I managed to shoot with a little longer (about 10 rolls), before the flash stopped working. Overall, it's a waste of money. I woul never think about writing such a negative review, because I love Lomo pics, but these cameras break too soon.

  3. Simple, does what its supposed to do. Remember this is a toy from Russia, so just remember before you criticize what your buying.

  4. This camera is very cool, although I wish I had ordered the one that takes a series of photos instead. This one takes all the photos at one time so there is no movement, it is just blah. I got some really neat shots with it though so I can't really complain too much. Everyone always loves how cool the gold looks, I kind of wish I could get a regular camera with this much BLING!! I guess the only thing I don't like about the Lomography cameras is that they are not all that practical. I think it would be good if you could alternate between 9 lenses and 1 lens. Then you could have more options with the same roll of film. All in all this is pretty great, just uncomfortably basic for me.

  5. I enjoy using the Pop9. Superb fun at parties and such; but they do tend to break easily. Consider the camera more as a expensive throw-away novelty item you will not be disappointed.

  1. This camera display excellent pictures! for non professional cameras for my its the best. Note that i have made an extensive review about cameras and I Decided for Lumix. The best technology, the best quality, its number one in the market. dont think it more, i wasted to much time tinking about it already.

  2. I like it lots. I haven't figured it out yet, but its going to be a lot of fun using that wide angle feature of this camera.

  3. This is a great camera, that takes great pictures. I got one for Christmas, and decided we needed 2. The pictures are great, and the videos that it can take are good quality. I would not rely on it as a video camera, but it's handy when you need one.

  4. great deal at $166. not as intuitive to use until you get used to wheel to set modes. i cannot see small symbols on wheel without glasses. screen is nice and big, but lack of viewfinder makes it harder for outdoor shots in sunlight. excellent battery life. fabulous quality pictures with no blur. excellent auto fill in flash for backlit outdoor shots. very pleased with it.

  5. I knew how this camera worked. My boyfriend had one just like it a few years back, so I was obsessed in getting it myself. But in the meantime, the great little camera I knew turned into an even greater camera. Now it makes movies and has a lot of little features that help you take amazing pictures. In three words: I Love It! Always keep it in my purse handy. It's just the greatest little cam I ever had, and people just love my pictures.

  1. I've had this camera for over a year now and honestly dont have to much of a complant other than a few blurry shots every once in a while. I'm a girl and im addicted to taking pictures, and this camera has been great for every type of picture i take. Great face finder, takes very clear action shots, and great coloring. easy to use on the computer. Honestly if your looking for a camera that can deal with a beating, get this one. If this wasn't a good camera it would be long dead by now, i drop it, get it wet, throw it, squish it into tight places, let all my friends borrow it, slide the cover thing a million times when im bored, and other then a few straches on the corner, it looks new. I have dropped it in my pool and also taking picture with my hands soaking wet and its been dripping with water and still works. other than the one incident i dropped it in my pool it stopped working for about an hour but then revived itself and started working again. only complaints: watch your fingers, its easy to get them in the picture, i live in florida so i bring it to the beach alot and sand gets stuck in the slide cover very easily, also got sand stuck in the lens and it stopped working until i blew the sand out with a blow dryer about 3 days later, and it does not charge in the computer, infact the battery dies pretty quickly when its plugged into the computer so watch out for that, and beware when you put it in your bag or in a purse it doesnt squish against something that flips the slide cover on, that happens very easily.

All in all a great camera, worth the buy.

  2. I bought this camera thinking it would be the perfect little thing to carry around.... boy oh boy was I wrong. Now unless it was a manufaturer's defect, this camera was a little piece of junk! Complicated with horrible grainy, blurry photos. I would not recommend this camera to anyone looking for a decent yet simple point and shoot camera!

  3. I am by no means a photographer. I use my camera for primarly one reason: to take pictures of my kids. This camera is great. It's user-friendly and the software that comes with it is as well. Everything is easy with this camera - not to mention I love the color!

  4. The Finepix Z5 is an excellent super-compact point-and-shoot digital, with, of course, some serious limitations. I got it mostly because I wanted an inconspicuous (no extending lens-also equals more longevity) candid camera I could carry in my pocket. It works well for that, although sometimes the cover slides open in my pocket..no matter, go into the Setup and make sure it shuts itself OFF after 2 minutes!
The image quality is very good for such a small sensor, even up to ISO 800, and there's also an ISO 1600 under the F button, but that's pretty much "emergency use only". There aren't a lot of manual settings for this little camera either, but if you meter around the highlights and use a -1/3 to -2/3 exposure compensation setting you can do well in most lighting situations. There's also the nice Fujifilm "Natural and Flash" setting that let's you see flash and non-flash photos side by side, and the Chrome setting for more vivid colors. The flash has limited range, but does OK within that range-I don't use flash unless I have to anyway. I do miss having an optical viewfinder, as some of the ultracompact Sonys have, but I wasn't willing to pay twice as much for a Sony. All in all, this is a good and super-portable little camera.

  5. I would absolutely reccomend it to anyone, I have Z1, this one was for my mom (55) and she has no problem with using it. beautiful photos, very handy!!
    great purchase!

  1. I have owned this camera for a year now. This is a good basic camera. It has a lot of nice little options like zoom and a close-ups setting. A lot these days is made of the megapixels in a camera and although this one seems to be on the low side it takes great pictures.

    Some things to think about:
This camera eats up batteries fast. you can't leave the batteries in overnight or they will die. If you do take the battteries out there is an internal memory that saves all your pictures so you don't lose anything. Nice feature.

Also: USB connects right to any USB port on your computer which is nice. But you have to load the software to your pc and if you do this I recommend you go with the absolute minimum installation. There is way too much stuff on the disc and it will take over your computer as far as claiming itself to be your default program for all types of images and graphics.

If you don't have any graphics/image software on your PC already then go ahead and load everything. But if you are like me and already manipulate images with other software go for the minimum installl. This will avoid yet another icon in your systray and another application checking in online for updates etc.

all in all its a good first camera at a reasonable price.

  2. I have owned a Kodak EasyShare CX6230 for a couple years and it eats batteries for dinner.
If you don't mind feeding your Kodak Camera batteries all the time, then go ahead and get one. My Kodak hardly ever had enough power to take some pictures and then download them off the camera without putting in new batteries.
I have upgraded to Canon PowerShot SD600 which is powered by a lithium-ion battery (battery and charger included)which is a HUGE plus.

  3. Ok, I got this cam a couple years ago but now there are more better ones. IF you bought this camera now, what on EARTH are you doing? I think a buyer should go with a better Panasonic Lumix digital camera, which you get 6x zoom, 7.2 MP, for a better price.

  4. I got this camera over 5 years ago for Christmas. And guess what? I still have it. I have taken over 10,000 pictures over this span of time and it still works wonderfully. The color in scenery shots is very real and action photos come out crisp. With a 512 Mb SD card, it holds over 600 pictures and one nice feature that is not the case with some newer models, the card can come out without having to reset the time and date saving precious picture taking minutes. One note, it is (in a lot of cases) best to turn off the flash (which is done with the push of a button) for most shots.

  5. I received the camera and have been using it . I was plaeased with the shipping time and the way it was packaged. It replaced a similar camera that I dropped in the water while fishing.
