  1. I bought this bundle and the printer works great with any memory card. The camera however lasts just enough for the warranty to run out on it. HP refused to do anything other than to repair it for the price of another (much nicer) camera. Later found out that it was a software problem on their end and they still refused to help. So buy the printer separate and buy a different (not HP) camera!

  1. With only two buttons to contend with and a miniature display screen, you better have good eyesight and good with a multifunction button. The unit will fit in any small shirt pocket and yet is rugged.

There is no preview display but I still have fun with it!! I Like-Love it!
For $20+ (US Dollars) you can't go wrong. I happen to have a spare 128 meg SDRAM card and the unit works great with it!

I use Linux and could not use the enclosed software that comes on a 3 inch CD but Linux detected and open the Camera with no effort at all! Mandriva 2007 detected the USB Camera and automatically opened the Camera as a Flash Drive Folder would open!
It's a toy but a lot of fun and it REALLY works and works well! For the price, it's great!

  2. Black VistaQuest 1.3 MP Digital KeyChain Camera
This is quite possibly the worst product I have purchased in years. It is essentially numerous misshapened pieces of plastic that neither fit appropriately or function in any way. It is utterly worthless!
I gratefully returned two of these cameras after opening them at Christmas to the disappointment of my two children!
Don't bother, move on to another product

  3. This camera was a complete waste of money. It never worked out of the package. Apparently you get what you pay for but in this case we got less.

5 comments about Nikon D40X 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX and 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens.
  1. I have owned this camera for a year now. It is an excellent camera. I read through several of the reviews here and wanted to add some comment to some things brought out. Although I am not a professional photographer I do work with digital cameras and have for several years. The D40x is a great choice for people who want the advantages of an SLR camera without some of the pitfalls of such - cumbersome, covered with buttons and requiring multiple settings, etc. just to take a picture. The camera is an advanced technology with its quiet shutter, noiseless focus and great menu system that toggles you through basic settings quickly - ISO, picture quality, white balance (if needed) You do not need to search around for separate dedicated buttons to set these settings. Users know where to go - the toggle. IF YOU leave it on the first menu set known as shooting menu, switching any of these settings is about 3 button presses to your choice of action.
Those who noted the lens issues and no sports pic shooting, eh, the camera shoots quickly and it is instantly active upon switching power. If you have a lot of Nikon lenses then perhaps the D80 is best and obviously you are more than an average camera user. Do not be concerned about lens availability though. Something else not mentioned is that many of the DX lenses also have VR or vibration reduction. Finally the lack of a depth of field PREVIEW is interesting. I did a search on the internet to actually find out what the importance of such a thing was and found two very detailed descriptions. Basically, according to the first website, "few professionals consider the DOF tool in their arsenal...it is rarely used and often criticized for seemingly making the picture appear darker. It can however allow for a preview of creative shots that make your subject pop and all else seem unimportant" Hmm. Professionals rarely use it? Why then is it so critical on a camera? Further reading and I realized that this feature's purpose is to set the aperture to what you see in the view finder prior to taking the picture. This seems odd though considering the advantage of seeing shots in a viewfinder and also having aperture priority mode AND automatic modes to compensate for such tedious work. Professionals may scoff at my description but the point is that unless you are a professional wanting a highly specific tweak on your depth, this camera will do it. The other website I found had a movie showing the advantage of a depth of field preview. The DOF description was the same except the example was a woman standing in the woods. The woman was focused and the background blurred. All while showing how to press the DOF button while looking through the viewfinder, focusing and shooting. With the D40x you can accomplish the same effect faster by turning the knob to portrait and snapping the picture! You can still work at it if you want with the aperture priority setting. Everything is visible from the viewfinder. I just wanted to bring these important points out because this really is a good camera and when things are mentioned that most people do not know what it is other than "this camera is really missing something" then they check it off their list. The automatic settings on the camera produce fantastic results and are what most people would use anyway. Just don't think the camera can't do it- it can!

  2. I absolutely LOVE this camera! At first I was looking to buy the D200, but after receiving the D40x as a gift I wouldn't have it any other way. It's the smallest DSLR on the market which is perfect because I have little hands and it's makes for easy handling. Also, the CCD image sensor is just amazing and makes everything so sharp with the help of the AF 3-area matrix metering system. Quite honestly, I prefer the older 3D color matrix metering II on the D40x and D200 then the newer one on the D300 because the newer system tends to blow out highlights and data is lost where as the older white balance meter tends to show details in the highlights and darken the shadows. Also, the LCD monitor is really big so you can view pictures easier which is awesome and the battery lasts a long time without having to charge all the time (if you don't use the built in flash alot like I do). All in all this is an amazing little camera and it's versatile enough to be used by both novices and semi-professionals.

  3. Let me start by saying I am a full-time professional photographer. I shoot purely with Nikon, right now I work with a D300, D200, and I use a D70 for around-the-house photos. D70 gives pretty good quality, and to must people(non professionals), superb quality. It isn't quite the quality of the D300, but is much less bulky which is why it is my go-to camera for home.
The D40 is really quite terrible in my opinion. If you hope to do anything besides shoot auto, you are out of luck, things like ISO, F-stop, and speed are all inside the camera's menu, rather than being on the upper user screen like the other D50 and up. They are trying to sell you on the higher megapixels. Go to: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm to read about the megapixel myth that camera companies are trying to sell you on. I started out shooting professionally with a D50, and I was able to blow it up photos up to 11x14 for photos of people, and I actually have a two foot by 4 foot landscape canvas from that camera that did not pixelate.
The camera takes okay pictures, but you'll get better ones and more options from the D50 or D70. The ONLY thing that the D40 offers, and should not be the deciding factor, is that it gives you a pretty large lcd screen.
I shot around with a D40 that my sister-in-law owns the other day, and it was so frustrating to shoot with. It takes a long time to focus, it's very slow. It also has a delay to taking the picture, like a cheap point-and-shoot camera, vs. the D50 or 70 that shoot quite fast and perform well as far as focus goes.
Also, another reason to avoid the D40 is that the auto-focus is in the lens rather than in the camera, so it makes the lenses really expensive (and quite crappy I might add). I don't think the D40 should even be in the "D" line, because it really isn't set up like a normal SLR. It is more like a fancy point-and-shoot. I hate it and I hope that you avoid paying more for less of a camera just because it is a newer model. You can get D50's and D70's used for pretty cheap now, sometimes in the $300's.

  4. Simply THE BEST camera I've ever owned! Takes great pics. Even with an unsteady hand, it focuses beautifully. And eye color is right on (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens). Love it!

  5. This as a great camera and is fine for all but the most sophistocated amateur or pro user who will naturally have a D3

  1. I love this camera, it has great picture quality and it's user friendly. All of the pictures I take are very crisp and clear and it's perfect for any time of day, any light inside and outside. I absoultly would not trade this camera in for the world and I think if you're making the decision wether to buy this or not that you have found the perfect camera for you and you should go ahead and buy it, you won't be disappointed. And I'm not an easy sell either.

  2. I bought this camera primarily because of its compact size. It is one of the smallest good quality cameras on the market. Obviously it can't compete with a Nikon D series or Canon Rebel, but if you read the manual and learn the right settings, it takes great quality photos for a point and shoot. It has a rechargable lithium battery with long life, which is important because there is no viewfinder and all sighting is done on the large LCD screen. The controls and menu are easy to manage. For my first digital Fuji, I am impressed. The price has gone up since I bought it, but at the $117 I paid, I thought I got a great deal.

  3. Hands down, one of the best cameras on the market. I use it almost everyday.
Great for just pictures with friends or family, or semi-professional photos.

  4. We purchased three of these cameras for our children (well young adults) all in different colors. The first thing to grab my attention was the ease of use the second was the quality of the picture this camera was producing. My Husband and I purchased a Sanyo several months prior to buying these and we were happy with it until we saw the quality of the pictures of this camera. One of the features I like the best is the slide on the front turns the camera on and off, in addition to that it protects the lens. Now if they could design a camera to protect both the LCD and the Lens that would be perfect. I really like this camera.

  5. I took more than 1000 pictures and many movies and upload Youtube. It is very good and I love this camera.

  1. Admittedly the camera arrive broken (with some piece rattling arround inside) and was returned for refund. I didn't want a replacement because the camera felt like a plastic toy. This was my third nikon coolpix( the first I killed by going swimming with it in my pocket; the second still works well but the lcd is cracked which, without a view finder, makes for some guesswork). I'd always been pleased with the others but the S51 just wasn't the same caliber of material. Can't say how it performed, though...Still looking for another one with metal construction!

  2. This is a great camera! A lot of people will compare it aganist a DSLR which isnt fair. Its a great point and shoot camera which is why its so popular. The build quality is fine but its not completely metal as advertised elsewhere. I've keep the camera in an official Nikon case and i've never had a problem with the power button accidently being depressed. There are several shooting modes that lets the newbie do a little expermenting but very vew manual controls. The large LCD is great for composing and I really dont miss the absence of a viewfinder on a camera if this type. The whole reason I got it was for the price, good Nikon name, face detection and compact size. I shoot in the superfine 8 MP and can fit over 410 images on a 2GB card. Im a pro photographer but I like this little number! U can take it anywhere and it fits easily in your pocket. A good purchase!

  3. this camera is a high quality camera. It is good for action shots, events, or just a regular pictures. The sound is very good on the sound recorder and the video recorder. You will always get a clear image. The camera is one of the best that i've used. It focuses on the events happening in the image. it takes a charging battery that comes with the camera, so i suggest to buy an extra battery, just incase.if you get this camera you will not be dissapointed. It is a very good camera.
    *BONUS* IT'S CUTE!!!

  4. Got this camera for my parents. Over all I was very impressed with its low light capability, it did an amazing job considering its a pocket camera.

The camera starts up very fast, but forces the user to wait for 5-8 seconds before it can be used. This does not sound like a long time, but its forever when your trying to take a quick photo.

The Focus is a little on the slow side, its good for general photography, but for quick snaps of the children, there is better choices.

Battery life is good, I have found it gets 200+ photos with ease. Considering it has the BIG 3" screen this is fairly good.

After about 4 months of us, i have noticed it seems to lock up when turning on the camera and forces you to remove the battery to reset the camera. Nikon does not know what the problem is, so it requires me to ship it in for repair. Also the spin wheel is very gritty feeling.

I personally purchased the new 52 model and have found many of the flaws have been fixed and its a much nicer camera considering they are the same, except the 52 does not have all the issues.

  5. While traveling in Italy... I dropped my 6 month old Coolpix S51. I shopped around looking for a replacement, but all the newest models only had 2.5" screens...and since there is no viewfinder I really missed the 3 inch screen of my first S51. This lead me to Amazon, where they had a number of my model still available. Seems the manufacturers are going smaller and smaller...with no viewfinder you really need the bigger screen. It's amazing how much difference there is in a half inch.

5 comments about Sony Cybershot DSC-T10 7.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Steady Shot Zoom (Silver).
  1. So I waited and saved up to buy THIS camera. I had to have it after seeing how cute it was and hearing about all of its features including the supposedly Super SteadyShot stabilization. So finally, I bought it and I must say, for the price, it has been a let down. Don't get me wrong, it's VERY cute and small - easily fitting into a pocket or purse. And some of the features are very nice, like the flip down front to turn on and off, but the negatives outweigh the positives. Use your $300+ dollars towards a SLR camera or save yourself some money and buy a cheaper camera. This one is not worth it. I made the mistake of not returning it a few days after I got it, thinking I just didn't know how to use it properly. If anyone reads this review and still wants a barely used t10, contact me!

    My major problems inlcude:

**Even though it has "Super SteadyShot stabilization" I still get blurry pictures just like I would with any other camera. I don't see this amazing technology Sony claims this camera possesses.

**There's something wrong with the design of the camera and the flash being so close the the lens. This results in large reflective circles appearing in some of your pictures for no apparent reason and it's impossible to repair the image once this has happened. You never know when they will appear and it results in the picture being ruined. Sony acknowledges the problem but offers no solution. They claim it's due to "dust particles in the air."

**The next MAJOR problem is red eye. I have never experienced such terrible red eye problems on any camera. There is a red eye reduction setting which does ABSOLUTEY NOTHING.

**The camera is cute and small, but the cord that comes with it to transfer pictures resembles an octopus. Sony attempted to make an "all-in-one" cord for this camera, but ended up making a nuissance. I like to carry the camera and cord in one small case so, if need be, I can transfer my pictures to a computer whenever I like. This cord makes that impossible because although the camera is tiny in size, this cord would take up half my purse! It may seem trivial, but it's a pain to me.

  2. I think this camera is great!
It just amazes me how people bad mouth things that are not perfect.
I got a great deal for $179.99 at Officemax back in August 2007.

    Pros:
Perfect compact size, and takes great pictures. I take it everywhere
    Great price!
Everyone I show my pictures too always says, wow you camera takes good pictures".
    Easy to use!
Flip the door down to turn on is very cool.

    Cons:
I do notice the white spots every now and then, but it is not all the time.
And yes it has a monsterous all in one chord, but so what?
And no one likes the red-eye reduction mode everyone says they go blind from it,
so I had to turn it off. and now all my pics have red eye.

So do not listen to all the bad reviews here, this is a great little camera.
I am very happy with my purchase.

  4. I love my camera! Of course I researched the item in consumer reports before purchasing and it lived up to it's name!

  5. I REPEAT!!!...do not buy this camera..or any other sony camera for that matter....Many people, including myself, have experienced a very simple but devastating problem with it. IT WILL NOT TURN ON. The battery is fully charged and nothing. I tested the battery in another camera and it worked fine so the problem is with the camera. And by the way, i find it kind of funny how everybody that i have spoken to who has this problem mentioned that it didn't happen until after the 1 year warranty had expired. Save yourself the heartache that you will experience in little over a year and stay away from Sony!!

  1. The item arrived ontime, and was as the seller specified. I recomend this product, it has good price and the seller is a good one to!

I would definitively buy to this seller again.

  2. i got this camera for my birthday and i really liked it then it started freezing all the time and the lenze wouldnt go back in the camera. so then you have to take the battories out and then restart it. i would not recomend this camera to anyone. its stupid dont waste your money on it

  3. I was so sad when I dropped this in the sand and ruined it. I've had this camera for about 7 months, and despite the slow saving time, I really love it. I use rechargeable batteries, and they hold enough charge for almost 100 photos. The pictures have turned out really fantastic, both for portraits and landscape. I haven't tried any of the settings.

  4. I read a lot of feedback about this camera and was nervous. I followed the advice of getting a big memory card and good rechargeable batteries and i have to say that I am very happy with this camera...so far. Good buy for the price indeed. Has a lot of very nice features. I would definitely recommend.

  5. I have just about the same problems as all of the previous reviews.
I finally called Samsung and am sending the camera back to be fixed or replaced.
My biggest problem was the camera just never coming ON when I pushed the power button. Sometimes if I opened the battery cover and then shut it the camera would come on. Okay, that is NOT how it should be!!! So the straw that broke the camels back was today when the lens stayed stuck out and the camera was not coming on...even with batteries removed, the lens was still stuck out!!!
Had enough of it. Will see what happens when they receive it back and supposedly fix it.
It takes GREAT photos WHEN it works. But that is about it. If it works flawlessly when returned I will be very happy with it.
