  1. Great "carryability". It can be carried in a small pocket and has the versatility of a larger camera...you're not an "Instant Tourist". It can be used for good effect under most conditions and easily downloads using
    the provided software. Nicely finished.

  2. Thank you for the speedy service. I am enjoying my new camera.
I checked different locations for prices. Your company was by far the
best place to do business. Again thank you and I hope we can do business
    in the future.

  3. I like to use an ac power cord when doing work where the camera is connected to the computer, to save on battery life. This is also suggested in the instruction manual. But though the specs say this camera comes with an ac cord, that cord doesn't connect to the camera; it's part of the battery charger. To buy the right ac cord, you must go to another vendor, and put out another $35-40. Also, I haven't found any photo stitch ability the ability to align several landscape photos and then stitch them together) with this camera. I do like the small size.

  4. My pictures comes out dark when i am taping a dance video in a club.. when i put auto flash the pictures comes out as if there were ghosts all around and it comes out yellow. i have to put flash oen when i am in a dark place and sometime it comes out dark yellow.. everytime i take pictures the screen goes black then if the people move after the flash it comes out blurry..it is nothing like what i heard it will be.. money wasted.

  5. I purchased this camera to replace 5mp camera. The huge screen makes lining up those shoots a breeze, pictures have all turned out very nice (though red-eye seems a little bit more common than I am used too), and I absolutely LOVE the video recording. Sure the video is not put on your TV quality, but for those times when you don't carry a full camcorder around and just happen to have this in the car or wife's purse, the video is perfect. Since I live away from home, I am able to upload these smaller videos for family back home and allow them to see allot of our lives that they would miss.
A great camera, especially for the very low price.

  1. This camera is incredibly easy to use. The screen is larger than most digitals cameras so it makes it easier to see what you are shooting. To download or print pictues is simple. The cameera holds almost 1700 pictures with a 2MB card so you do not need to worry about running out.

  2. I purchased the R742 about two months ago, the red version. The color is very nice (it's not a magenta red like the pictures may show). The camera color doesn't matter that much though, so let's get to the real issues. Photo quality is quite good, I have no problems with graininess, lines, color issues, etc. As far as this is concerned, it is exactly what I would expect from a camera in this price bracket ($0-$250). Sure, you can't do as much with it as you could with a higher end camera or a SLR, but then again, look at the price you're paying.

    Pros:
    1) It is nice and small, very easy to slide into a pocket or purse to have on hand.

    2) While 3x zoom (the other 7x is digital and not worth anything) is not much, it works for being a small camera and seems pretty standard.

    3) The price is inexpensive, yet is a nice low-end camera.

    4) The click-to-snap time is less than a second I find (i.e. the time between when I press the button, it figures out the exact focus, sets off flash, and "snaps" the shot) which is better than my prior camera which seemed to delay things longer.

    5) The 7 MP is plenty for nice shots even if I want to enlarge to greater than 8 x 10.

Things I don't like, but you may, and things I find different between the R742 and my older R727:
    1) The R742 power button is a bit hard to press the way it is buried. I have a medium hand size with dexterous fingers, but even I have to press it twice sometimes. The good thing about this though is you don't accidentally turn it on when it's in your pocket! However, my old R727 I sometimes turn on by accident.

    2) The R742 button to switch between taking and viewing photos is a "slide" button. It seems a bit flimsy, and although I have not had a problem with it I much prefer my older HP727 that had the buttons for this on the top that you press as it is easier to toggle between the two while taking photos.

    3) The lens moves out when turned on - now this is normal for a lot of cameras, but coming off of my HP727 that did not have an external lens (yet still had 3x optical, 7x digital zoom!), this has taken getting used too.

    4) On my old HP727, the buttons for setting focus and flash are right on the camera, but now I have to scroll through two menus to get to this; which is annoying when I want to pull this new HP742 out for a quick shot. Now, instead of less than 2 seconds to select focus range and flash setting, it takes about 10. This is a huge difference, for example, if I see some birds, or deer, etc that I want a picture of before they fly/run off.

    Summary:
Over the course of more than two years, I would think that there should be improvements on the R742 from the older versions of pretty much the same model (i.e. my old R727). In reality, the easy usability backslid in those 2+ years, and features (The 1 MP better and faster click-to-snap time) made only tiny strides. If my menu/"ok" button on the R727 constantly worked I would have returned this R742 immediately, as the above two mentioned strides do not make up for the usability issues I have with it.

I just went on HP's site, and did not find this camera nor very many others listed. I wonder if they are not going to make cameras any longer. I really like HP products; my desktop (HP D4100E from 2005 and still going strong, no problems at all), laptop (newly purchased TX2000z), printer/scanner/fax (C7280), and camera are all HP. However, this most recent purchase has me wishing I went with a Cannon, or had just waited until I have enough money for a Nikon SLR. I think HP has lost the market on their cameras, and based on their website, they know it.

  3. This is an excellent camera and I've been delighted, but guess what? It's now no longer available and neither is a replacement charger for the battery. My charger got misplaced when we moved, and I thought, no problem I'll just go to the HP site and reorder. The charger is not available; no picture of it anywhere, no suggestion of an alternate item to buy. The online help referred me to the HP Parts store page, no mention of it there either. My opinion of HP has changed...they do not stand by their products.

  4. This is my families third HP R742 digital camera. It is very easy to use. It has a rechargeable battery with charger. This 7 mega-pixel camera takes excellent pictures. It comes in different colors witch is great because everyone in my family had a different color camera.

  5. I have always wanted a digital camera, and after much research found the HP R742 Photosmart to be the best deal for the money and product. I originally wanted the Ruby Red, but I had Amazon bucks, and it wasn't available on Amazon yet. Turns out, color was not such a big deal, and the black one was a great choice. It is easy to use, and will not take the pic if you are out of focus or moving too much. The ease of downloading the images to my laptop is great and all of the camera functions are easy to use. I'm not a pro photographer, but I just can't take a bad picture thanks to HP R742.

  1. I absolutely love this camera because it's everything I need in a camera. It's small so it can fit in all my purses. It can create videos. It takes great pictures. The battery life is amazing. I've had it for almost a year now and it has never died on me while I was out taking pictures. I only need to charge it about once a week. I'm able to take a ton of pics with no problems. I take this camera with me to every event or function I go to and I've yet to have it fail me. I can't see myself with another camera. If I lost this one I would definitely buy the same one again. I definitely would recommend it.

  2. I have already bought 5 cameras for some relatives and for myself as well. This camera is super easy to use and the battery lasts for ever. The pocket size is another plus.

  3. this product is good overall, but i would recommend the newer version of this camera. the sd card i bought is for some reason uncompatible, the camera will not work. Buy the newer version

  4. This camera is by far a great buy, especially the price. For novice user as my self 6.0 is enough for me.

  5. This camera is small and light. It takes great photos and is very easy to use.

I took 587 top grade pictures on vacation and the battery did not need to be recharged, very convenient!

Only downside: Like most digital screens it is hard to see the screen in bright sunlight so I do miss the viewfinder but feel I can manage without it in order to keep the camera small.

I bought a 2GB SD Card to use with this camera.

I bought a great case for this camera on EBay, actually from Australia. It is made of neoprene and does not add to the bulk of the camera, and is better, for me, than any I had found in B&M stores.

Because the camera is so small I found I took more photos because it was so easy to carry ... it was always there!

5 comments about Canon PowerShot SD900 Titanium 10MP Digital Elph Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
  1. I have this camera for a little over a year now and it is by most the worst camera I have ever had. It has been sent back to Cannon 3 times and it is still not working right and each time they tell me that I dropped the camera and broke the lens. When I told them I didn't and maybe it had to do with the shipping they tell me it can't be since the box is okay when delivered. I have a service contract on this product and it still have cost me almost $100 to get it fixed each time, I really wish I had never purchased it in the first place. And after this time i will never purchase a Cannon again.

  2. I researched many digital cameras before deciding to get this model. I chose it because it had the high megapixels that I wanted and boasted many features and unique settings. I was not disappointed.

First of all, the camera offers sharp, high-quality images without using any of the fancy settings. The basic use of this camera meets my expectations.

The Color Accent feature is something that makes me feel like an artist as I compose images, and it is very easy to use (words which I will be using several times during this review!). The same effect can be done by hand with Photoshop or Gimp, but why worry about that high-end, expensive software when your camera does it for you?

The other feature that I am currently giddy about and excited to try on our upcoming vacation is the panorama feature and the accompanying software, StitchAssist. I had a camera that offered assistance lining up panoramic shots, but did not come with software to put those images together. The Canon SD 900 comes with StitchAssist, a program with imports the images taken with the panoramic setting on and then "stitches" them together. The program does all the work; all I had to do was tell it which images I wanted put together. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was.

Another minor setting I like is the touch button display. I have always had trouble operating the tiny buttons on my previous compact digital cameras, but the SD900 has a display that pops up when you press the round buttons to help you verify that you are pushing the correct button. No more trying to turn off the flash, but setting the macro instead!

One aspect that I am still learning is navigating the menus. The basic camera menus change very slightly depending on which settings you have enabled, and I am afraid that when I am "out in the field" away from my user guide, I won't be able to remember how to make the camera do what I want because I can't remember how to get to the menu. This is a necessary evil of a feature-packed camera, I fear. The menus are intuitive, though, so they have been fairly easy to learn. Not so with some cameras I have used.

I am not very pleased with the built-in sounds (I find almost all of them annoying), but you have the option of turning them completely off, as well as the option to set the volume of each type of sound individually, so I feel like Canon partially redeemed themselves for the less-than-pleasing-to-the-ear audio they offered.

One sound I am glad Canon included was one that signals the timer is about to go off. Again, no sounds that don't make your heart race, but at least we can all tell when that group shot is going to snap.

I strongly recommend this camera if you are looking for a small camera packed with easy to use features.

  3. Fell in love with this camera, used it for 2 years, then out of the blue, the lens would not retract and a message of "lens error, please restart camera" comes up, changing batteries did not fix it, nothing did. Looked on the Internet and found this is a common problem.

  4. nice size but i wanted the high resolution so i can zoom in on photos afterwards. well because it's small and lightweight every picture i took was blurry because i apparently shake to much. i don't have a shake to my hand that i have ever noticed before and the camera i bought to replace it is fine.

  5. This is an awesome camera!!! I only wished that I had waited a few more weeks until the 12 MP camera came out. Oh well, technology changes too fast and only millionaires can stay trendy.

  1. I've used Amazon to order various items before and was always satisfied with the result...quality at low prices.
I ordered a Sony Dsc G1 on Sunday June 24th and it arrived Thursday, June 28th.
I've taken about 50 photos under critical conditions, low light and using the automatic features of the camera.
I'm amazed at how well it performs. Big LCD screen, the camera is a nice size for my big hands, just a little bigger then the regular Cybershots. The resolution in the screen is excellent.
I was considering the DSC T-100 but it got such bad ratings that I went with this camera....sure glad I did!
When I figure out some of the more technical features I'll post a more detailed review.

  2. Had this camera for 1 month, LOVE IT!

    Pros:

    - HUGE SCREEN!! Talk about being the center of attention when you whip this camera out. Definitely want to get some sort of a protective slip for it.

    - Great picture quality. What do you expect from SONY? Only the best.

    - Internal Memory. 2GB - memory stick? No neccessary with this. Internal hard drive rocks.

    - Sleek design. Doesn't look cheap, luxurious feel.

    - Video recording. Again...just like the pictures, it rocks.

    CONS

    - Weight. A tad bit on the heavy side, but the HUGE screen makes you forget about it quickly!

    - Close/Open slide. Not neccessarily a con, but it just takes a little getting used to.

    - Size. Not the biggest of cameras but definitely not the slimmist. Again, not a huge downside considering the huge screen but short time you get used to it!

For more info, I would suggest going to [...] and seeing the video on this product! You won't be dissapointed with the camera

  3. i love this camera, very easy to use, although the buttons took a little getting used to, takes great pics and videos. i highly reccomend this camera to anybody, it also would probably be a good beginner camera

  4. I bought a Sony a300 dSLR a few months ago, but decided it wasn't logical to carry around a $1000 camera to parties, so I went searching for a good point and shoot that took quality pictures for around $200. I stumbled onto this camera at a National Camera Exchange tent sale and immediately fell in love with it.
    Pros:
    - 9-point AF is great for a point and shoot
    - 3.5" screen is huge and crystal clear: have to see it to believe
    - 6 MP is more than enough for 99% of my shots and it doesn't take up so much space on my computer. It also does better in low light conditions because the pixels aren't so packed on the sensor.
    - 2 GB internal memory is awesome, and you don't have to buy expensive Sony memory sticks
    - Can store and listen to music with an 8 mm headphone jack
    - Nice charging dock
    - Beautiful menu displays
    - Toggle switch is the best way to flip through menus
    - Lens is hidden when closed so it isn't easily scratched

    Cons:
    - Buttons are a little tough to learn
    - Little big for most small camera cases

Would recommend it for anyone. Just a fun camera to own.

1 comments about Samsung L210 10.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Red).
  1. I replaced a Canon S700 IS with the red model of this Samsung L210. Before that I've had 2 other Canons and one other Samsung camera. Canons tend to take the best pictures and they use the standard SD memory unlike Sony cameras which I refuse to buy due to their insistence on using their own proprietary memory.

Reasons I bought this Samsung over my Canon
    1. Ability to take low light pictures blur free. This was the BIG reason.
    2. Ability to take video using mpeg4 compression, can fit hours on a 2gb card.
    3. More manual control.

The dual image stabilization mode (digital processing + Optical Image Stabilization) works as advertised, I can take indoor natural looking pictures without flash, but there's a catch. The camera takes two pictures and combines it. This taking two pictures mode means it takes a lot longer to take pictures. But it's a small inconvenience to finally have nice looking indoor pictures (for those times when optical image stabilization doesn't work well enough).

In other modes such as Auto, Manul, and Program you can turn on the optical image stabilization (OIS) feature only and pictures are taken normally. I like how the OIS has it's own button, in my previous Canon I had to access it through a few levels of menus.

Other features include a Program mode that is similar to the Manual mode but you get the option of changing the Aperature and Shutter speeds.

Videos are solid at 30fps up to 640x480 resolution. It has a wide screen mode but that's just a gimick since the frame rate drops down to 20fps.

    Other useful features:
    1. Auto LCD brightness control depending on lighting conditions
    2. Time/date stamps right on the pictures
    3. Basic editing of pictures like Cropping, resolution, and rotation of pictures right in the camera, very, very, useful if you want to quickly post stuff to the web.

So far I'm very happy with the pictures I'm getting. I'm surprised Canon is falling behind in the features department, I would think natural indoor pictures would be top priority as would the ability to take long videos without filling up memory cards. I have to give it to Samsung, they've done a superb job this time around. Highly recommened. (I'll try to post some pictures)

  1. $ I just sent my camera in for repair to a location recommended by Kodak. I just received an estimate of $85.00 plus shipping, to repair the MCU, whatever that is. Anyway, as all may already know, this camera can be purchased here on Amazon for $95.00. So you be the judge. This camera should be advertised as a "disposable camera". When it costs more to repair something than to replace, it's usually called junk. Never again Kodak. Once burnt twice shy.

  2. I've been using this camera for a about 2 months now and over all its a pretty nice digital camera. Only real complaint I have is finding another USB locally. For the life of me I cant find mine and the port is so little that none of my other millions of adaptors will work. Overall a nice around time, quick snap shots of the kids camera.

  3. Why is Amazon selling a camera for $198.89 when Kodak's MSRP is US $139.00? According to the specs, this camera does not include the printer dock, so it's not the combo price.

  4. This product works very poorly, especially if you are attempting to use rechargeable batteries. I'd say 80% of the time when I try to recharge it, it is unsuccessful and I have to totally discharge and recharge the batteries -- which takes more than 8 hours. And sometimes even the total discharge-recharge cycle does not work.
The quality of the pictures is not great either -- using the zoom lens to the slightest degree will result in blurry pictures.
In addition, Kodak's customer service/support is just terrible. Just before I special occasion I ordered new batteries and paid extra for rapid shipping. Turns out the batteries were backordered, so they weren't shipped until after the occasion. But by the time they told me about this, they said it was too late to cancel the order. So I ended up spending an extra $15 for two-day shipping for a product I didn't get for two weeks. I tried to contact them to complain, and they sent an automatically generated email saying they'd get back to me in 8 hours. Well, it has been more than 8 weeks, and I've sent multiple other emails, and have yet to get a response.

  5. I bought this for my Mom as a gift after having a similar set of my own. After a year of use, both of us had issues with the printer....constantly says it's out of ink...when it has only printed a few pictures. We keep using it, but it's a pain to deal with. I gave up on the printer and purchased another. After I decided I loved the Selphy printer, I bought one for my Mom also. She loves it...much easier to use. For her, she doesn't have a pc, so using the printer with the screen on it to select, crop, etc the pictures is far better for her. This was a good set at the beginning, but doesn't really hold up well. She is still using her camera, just using the new printer with it.
