5 comments about POLAROID® 5.0MP DIGITAL CAMERA.
  1. We purchased two Polaroid i531 cameras for our boys who are 6 and 9 and are very pleased with the quality. They are beginner users and have had no problems with figuring out the camera's functions. They are able to take good clear picturs and record fun videos. The good quality pictures are enhanced by the flash and zoom modes. There are a variety of settings/modes that can increase the camera's basic functionality for more advanced users. Battery life is pretty comparable to other digital cameras, so we use rechargables and make sure we have extras if the situation warrants it. As with any digital camera, a memory card/stick is beneficial as there is limited onboard memory. We purchased 1GB cards and will be able to take well over 1000 pictures and video clips with the settings we are using. It's nice to be able to connect the camera to the television using included AV cable. It's much handier for the kids, or to share with guests, than connecting or downloading to the computer. The only complaint I might have with the camera is that the videos are a bit grainy. This doesn't affect anything, but the clarity of the picture. For everyday use it's not an issue, but I wouldn't record a wedding or something important with it unless it was absolutely all I had.

I use a high end digital Sony camera and would recommend the Polaroid to anyone wanting an inexpensive point-and-shoot, beginner or not. Both my husband and I will grab one of the Polaroids on occasion to take pictures because of it's simplicity and good picture quality.

An added fun bonus for this particular Polaroid model is the changable grips provided. Not only are there 3-4 camera colors available (silver, white, black and possibly pink/red), but there are 2-3 interchangable grip colors for even more personalization. Also provided is a rubber camera skin that protects the camera from scratches, etc.

  2. This camera works really well. It does the job fine. We purchased it just for our daughter (11 yrs) as an introduction to digital photography. She loved the easiness of all functions as well as the quality of pictures (5.0 megapixels). Highly recommend this camera or its next model up. Great product!

  3. This little lightweight camera is wonderful! The zoom possibilites are fab, it's easy to use and the pictures are very clear. It has video with audio too! You can change out the face plates (3 colors). I feel I got a really GREAT deal. If you are the average joe like me who wants to take pictures and video at times then you can't beat the price. You will need a memory card! If you have the money go for more mega pixels...if not, BUY THIS CAMERA! Great service too!

  4. This is a great camera for the price - a very good value. I received the camera very quickly (faster than the promise date), and it's an excellent, relatively inexpensive camera. I call items like this my "Dixie Cup" items - if I lose it, or I drop it, or it breaks, well, I didn't pay that much to begin with for it. At this price I'm not all worried about losing a substantial investment.

Having said that it's a great value, I also believe that the shipping and handling costs were a bit high, but that's the price we pay for mail order purchases, right?

All in all, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase of this item.

  5. This camera works well. For the price it is a nice Camera for the ladies or the kids. This camera is simple to use and take good pictures.

  1. I brought this camera from Amazon after reading the good reviews about this camera in a lot of sites. Amazon shipped it before time. I am not a professional photographer so I can't provide technical details. I am very satisfied with this camera. However would have loved more optical zoom on this camera. Would always recommend Amazon!!

  2. I've owned for approx 1 year with zero problems, zero complaints. Works as advertised. great little compact camera!

  3. Purchased as a gift and haven't heard anything bad about it since given to daughter.

  4. Canon makes great cameras. I especially like the SD line. Most people who use my camera end up buying one of their own. It has the DigicII Chip, 2inch LCD, light weight, and easily fit in you pocket. You don't need 7.1MP unless you heavily crop your pictures. 5MP is more than enough to print a 20x30inch poster. It takes good MPEG movies too. I use a 2GB SD Card and Never run out of space on vacation.

  5. I purchased this camera in late June 2005 in hopes of having it to replace my Canon SD30 (3MP, first digital camera) on a trip to Switzerland. Well, the camera didn't arrive in time, but I wish it did. The camera was the best I'd ever used and I was awed by all the new features. I irritated everyone at work constantly taking photos using the color swap and color accents. This is the greatest feature I've seen and my only regret is going through my pictures over the years and not using those features enough.

I immediately put a screen protector on the LCD, so I didn't have any problems there. Unfortunately during a day of puppy kindergarten, I forgot about the keys and change in my pocket and slipped my brand new camera in with them. After the initial shock, I saw the tiny scratches as "war scars" and soon disregarded it.

Start-up time was amazing. I was always ready to shoot upon pressing the power button. I was even able to put my own personal picture on the startup screen so I wouldn't have to look at the generic "birdy" or "Powershot" name. I am sure I could have put my own startup music on there also, but I never took the time to try it. I did it for my Canon SD30, though, so I'm sure it was possible.

My other regrets in picture taking was not taking the highest setting possible. I don't render my pictures immediately, so sometimes months later when I'm editing Christmas pics, I'll see a nice photo that could have been blown up and sent to my family.

The best thing I loved about this camera was its battery life. I can probably count on my hands the number of times I had to recharge the battery. I NEVER lost battery life during a trip or photo event, although most of my trips were 2-4 day weekends. Still, this camera handled any type of pressure I threw its way. I hope my upgrade to the Canon SD950 does all of the SD500's capabilities and more.

So why am I upgrading? Well, I love photography, even though I rarely have the time to really do it as a bonified hobby. I also love gadgets and upgrade electronics. I'm going to finally start taking great photos and the Canon SD950 will take me there! But in no way is it because the SD500 was lacking for anything.

1 comments about Olympus Evolt E-3 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with Mechanical Image Stabilization + Olympus Zuiko 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 Digital ED SWD Lens.
  1. I sat down prepared to write a long winded technical review of this camera/system and decided instead to briefly jot down why I bought it. This is just what was important to me and may or may not register with your values or needs. As a brief introduction I should say I've always had high end cameras but never considered myself a "shutterbug" and I truly hated carrying around a big bag of camera bodies and lenses.

First and foremost I've always considered a camera to be a fine instrument and desired precision engineering and permanent materials. In other words, an alloy body and fine detailing were more important to me than a gaggle of features that I probably wouldn't ever use. Secondly, I wanted premium glass in a minimal package of 2 or 3 lenses, also well crafted, and optically as perfect I could get. Third, I wanted an image stabilization function central to the camera itself and not reliant on a specific lens for its function and performance. Finally, I wanted an intuitive system that would allow me to take pictures without having to think like a software engineer. Based upon my criteria the Olympus E-3 met these requirements. Additionally, way back in my film past I had an Olympus OM4T that was one of my favorite film cameras of all time. I still regret selling it.

Functionally and ascetically the E-3 with the 12-60mm SWD lens has been a superlative performer. I recently added the 50-200 SWD and it's even better. Given the 4/3 system architecture this translates into 2 lenses overing 24 to 400mm (35mm equivalent) with razor sharp optics and true color fidelity yielding flawless enlargements up to 16x20; which is the largest I've made so far. Noise is non existent as long as "film speed" is kept under ISO 800.

The camera does everything I want it to do and does it extremely well. So, if you're not locked into an existing system (Nikon/Canon folk) and your want list incorporates some of the same criteria as mine, I'd highly recommend looking at this fine system. It's not cheap, but at least your paying for a fine system camera and not a lot of advertising hoopla.

  1. I bought this camera knowing it would not be the best, but i was greatly dissapointed. There is no flash, so unless if you are outside in the daytime, it doesnt work. The picutres are not of great qualtity. If i were you, I wouldn't waste my money on this

  2. This item is absolutely a waste of money and time. I bought it just to take pictures for ebay. Quick and dirty, as it were. Well, it is horrible for stills and cannot create a decent image in even good lighting conditions. Blurry and poorly lit. I only wish the rating system had something less than 1 star.

  3. This "camera" should be rated a -5...the adage "you get what you pay for" applies to every aspect of this camera. It's flimsy and problematic to operate, never mind that the soft ware crashed my computer and didn't include enough instructions to allow photo retrieval from the camera OR the computer. I actually threw the camera in the garbage.

  4. had a mini2 and loved it. Bought a Mini3 in the US and took home to UK. Images were blurred in parts. Spent time talking with Mustek support in Germany, Mustek support in UK, dealer in US and finally Mustek support in US. Gave up and threw the camera away - they were not actually interested in solving the problem, just in their processes, passing me on to someone else and making me do all the all work. totally infuriating.

  5. at first when i recieved it in the mail i was sayiing to my husband that i doubting the quality that the mini camera put out..but when i first used it and downloaded the pictures i was shocked...it put out really good pictures the quality was great

  1. The GE A730 is an excellent camera for $79.99 + S&H. I needed a smaller point and shoot because I didn't want to take my Digital SLR to the beach. This a great buy for beginners or for someone who wants a smaller camera. It is easy to uses and has video mode also. It only requires 2 AA batteries which you can find anywhere. Day time and Night time shots were awesome.

  2. This camera works as intended, the battery life is not great when taking videos, and the standard memory is a bit low, but the expandability (up to 4gb) makes up for it, thus the 4 of 5 stars on this review.

  3. GREAT CAMERA GE A730 7MP DIGITAL USE IT EVERYDAY ALSO PURCHASED SANS DISK AND BATTERY CHARGER VERY GOOD QUALITY PICTURES

  4. My 15yr old loves this camera, it fits in his pockets and the screen is larger than we thought it would be.

  5. I saw the camera, loved it, bought it, now I can't use it because NO battery lasts more than 3 minutes. I have bought 3 sets of rechargeable batteries and charger and it is now obvious that I am wasting money. The issue is NOT the batteries, but the camera.

5 comments about Fujifilm Finepix A500 5MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
  1. I owned this camera for a bout 8 months and took very good pictures. Than out of the blue I got a focusing error and the lens would not detract. The product is out of warranty and would cost too much to repair. I will never buy this product again.

  2. The camera is fine as long as nothing goes wrong. Fuji has the worst customer service I have ever delt with. They pass you from one person to another and do everything they can not to help you. Be prepared to deal with the worst customer service in the business. I really hope this helps you.

  3. I used this several times, took about 50 pictures with camera, I was disappointed.
Compare to my old Fugi A201(2 mega pixel), this A500 does not have good color; it may have better resoltion but the color on photo are not as good as A202.
When I checked the spec on those 2 camera side by side, A201 has RGB filter on CCD while A500 ihas just high resolution CCD.
    Anyway, A500 is disappointment.

  4. This is an upgrade to the last Fuji & still have & after using Fuji its no wonder I & Others Love them!!.. They are easy to use & work so well taking excellent pictures!! !

  5. This is my second Fuji Digital Camera. The first one failed with a "ZOOM ERROR" after only a few months of average use. The camera was useless. I returned it to the place of purchase, and of course the model is no longer in production. After an argument with the store manager, they allowed me to trade up to the newer model, charging only the difference.

Well After about a year of average use, I got the exact same "ZOOM ERROR" message on the newer model. I do not want to pay $250 every two years for a camera, so this will be my last FUJI purchase. When I spend money, I expect reliability, and FUJI misses the mark!

5 comments about Canon PowerShot SD100 3.2MP Digital ELPH Camera w/ 2x Optical Zoom.
  1. I bought this camera to have something that I could use at parties or on trips to just point and shoot when I didn't feel like or have the time to use my 35mm SLR. But what I found out was it can do much more than that. Manual mode is easy and effective. See some of my photos in customer images.

  2. This camera is very nice. I will go down on the pro's and con's.

    Pro's:

    1. Very small. It is with ease that you can put this camera into your pocket, or even into your glove dept of your car (and just how many things can you put in a glove dept these days?!!) And the size really makes it easy for handling when taking pictures.

    2. The digital rear view is very nice. You get a clear vivid view of what it is that you are taking a picture of. This is a fantastic feature, considering that many other camera's do not have a good view in the rear view... which sort of really goes against having the picture view in the rear of the camera in the first place! Bright and easy to see.

    3. For a 3.2 mpixel camrea, these pictures are pretty good quality. I really like them, but would consider this a lower end camera... don't try to take shots of stuff far away. This camera is for use close up.. like under 5 feet in distance for any definition.

    4. Easy to use downloading from camera. You can use the software they give you with this camera... or just skip it and use the windows XP software that automatically detects the camera, and loads the windows software that will work with your camera. This is really nice that Canon and Bill Gates talked to each other and they shared information on drivers and software. This does NOT alaways happen BTW. Kudo's for Canon.

    Con's:

    1. Battery life. The battery is horrendous. After six months, the battery rarely last over 15 - 20 minutes. This is pretty bad. I mean, this battery is easily the poorest quality of any battery in any device I have ever used. And Canon should be ashamed for issuing the darn battery with this type of quality. With Canon, you expect better quality.

    2. Starter Camera. This camera is really not for use for anything other than really close pictures. Which is sorta what I said in the Pro section, and it is a pro for that reason.. but with the small zoom, I expected to get more than five feet or so for definition... perhaps I was over optimistic...

    3. Outershell of camera. After a couple of months, the color of the case of the camera sorta rubbed off. It looks very dull, and old... I have had other cameras that are considerably older than this camera, but look a heck of a lot newer than this camera. What did they put on the outer shell of this camera? I do not know, but Canon should not use whatever it was again. My camera looks like it is 50 years old.

Overall: A very good starter camera. I would not get this again, but I would get it for someone who is just taking fun photos. Perhaps get it for a youngster, or someone who might not really care that they can't get super good pictures.

    Have fun!!

  3. I bought this camera in 2004, and it worked very well. I would agree with most of the other good reviews. However, all of a sudden the lense would not shut down and I kept getting an E18 error on screen. Apparently this is common on these types of Canon camera's (ie. the lense getting stuck), and will cost approx $150 - $250 to repair, which is more than the original cost of the camera. I did not drop it or mishandle it in any way, so it looks like a defect in the camera.

  4. This was my first digital camera. It was perfect for the first year I had it - easily portable and navigable, decent battery life, movie and instant B+W options; it was the source of digital goodness. After the first year, when my concerns became focused on the quality of the photos I began to get increasingly disappointed. The zoom and flash limited the quality of photographs I was able to take. I kept getting blurry pictures, or the flash caused over-exposure or was too weak to make out anything in the distance. Forget about shots of buildings in twilight.
I upgraded to a Digital Rebel for my first trip to Costa Rica and have satisfied most of the needs I was not receiving with the Elph. Obviously, comparing the Digital Elph to a Rebel is like comparing a Volkswagon to a Porsche.
Despite the satisfying upgrade, when my Elph was destroyed in an airline mishap I replaced it right away. The Elph has become my purse camera, indispensable for recording the scene of a traffic incident for insurance or catching the idiosyncrasies of life when the hulking Rebel is at home. It's not perfect but it is my sturdy, reliable recording device on the fly and I'm glad I still have one around. Overall a fantastic beginners camera, although limited by it's small pixel size. Because pixels have gotten so much more advanced, this would be a great gift for a young, budding photographer. It can handle travel, drops, and being roughed up quite well.

  5. There was no description of how much video you can record with this camera. I purchased this camera for the purpose of making videos, and I also knew it took good pictures. I wanted that feature, also, so I figured it said it takes video, so if I had a big enough memory capacity, it'll take bigger videos...wrong. It's a 3 minute limit - and I was never informed of this on Amazon. Now I've spent $150 for practically nothing. On top of that, when I got this camera, the battery kept dying, even WITH a full charge. So I had them send me another battery, which kept dying on me the same one the last one did. So I am very disappointed with how this turned out.

  1. This camera replaces a wonderful but bulky Cannon 4MP. While on a trip to Japan, I realized I should've packed my little brick of a camera. I decided to go price some of the cameras there, expecting their usually expensive prices. I found this one for $170 (a favorable Yen rate helped). I bought it, and the clerk was nice enough to change the menu language to English. The book, however, is in Japanese. I set out to get some shots, day and night. The instant preview was useful since I was able to adjust settings and retake to see the difference (you can zoom on the preview screen). I had a 1 gig SD card in my PDA which is now in the camera. At first it did not read it, but after a couple of format trial and errors, I got it to work perfectly. At the highest setting, and taking some movies, it proved to be enough for lots of pictures. I'm grateful for the reviewers who mentioned the ISO setting recommendation: I'll try that. I found the controls and menus sufficent for taking great pictures without the benefit of the manual. I will download the english version at the earliest opportunity, though. Don't you just love the internet?????
Highly recommeneded for those who take the time to adjust settings and check out the preview shots.

  2. The camera I bought, well it was a Christmas gift for my daughter, her previous camera was stolen, so I replaced it. Thank you for getting me the gift right away and ready for Christmas.

She is very pleased with the camera and so am I.

  3. Hi, when I ordered this Minolta Digital Camera I picked a seller that was offering the best price for the camera I wanted. What was missing was the information that I was buying a camera without a card. I would have been happy to purchase a separate memory card, if that information has been stated in the listing. But, I was surprised to find all the pieces of the camera, cradle, cords, and battery in the box but no card. When I contacted the seller, they informed me that the camera was being offered without a memory card. Somehow I missed that information when I placed my order.

Since then I have purchased a camera 2.0 G memory card, on sale at Circuit City for a huge reduction in price. So it all worked out for the best.
I guess what I would like to see Amazon do about these kinds of ads, is make sure that if something is being offered for sale that all of its parts are listed, or if something is not included, there should be a note to that effect in the ad.

No one does it better than Amazon. I have been able to find things on your website when no one else could come up with it. I love Amazon you are AMAZING,com

  4. I got this camera as a present a year ago, and dropped it in the ocean when I was on vacation...:( I bought an other camera, but the picture quality didn't live up to the standards set by the Dimage X1. So, I did a lot a research trying to find the Dimage X1 again. This is the most amazing camera ever -- to bad it's not in production any more. Picture quality is great. The anti-shake feature help to take the most amazing pictures. By far THE best digital camera I've owned.

  5. Okay, I'd purchased this camera TWO years ago, and I'm still thrown by it's picture quality! Majority of my friends own Sony digital cameras, yet it doesn't come close to Konica Minolta Dimage X1! I constantly get compliments on my photo's, often everyone would ask if it's a professional DSLR camera that I'm using to get such wonderful quality! Though, I honestly have to agree that the shutter speed is one of the main disadvantages, along with some of the features and especially the bulky size & weight. Overall, I've been extremely happy with this product regardless of other's opinion, and I'm actually afraid of replacing it now that I'm so attached!!! Picture quality is stunning after TWO years!
