- Olympus FE-310 8MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom (Black)
I could not be happier with this purchase.
Great pictures, no film processing, no hassles.
The merchant delivered ahead of estimated time
and gets two thumbs up!
- I bought this camera with such high hopes only to be crushed. It takes horrible pictures! I am accustomed to using a Cannon at work so when I saw this 8MP camera on sale at the local Radio Shack I jumped on it. It is the perfect size for me to throw into my purse and I had already a bunch of XD memory cards. Bad choice. It will not focus for me in the zoom position although I have read the instruction booklet and tried all of the suggestions. About the only way it will take a good picture is if you are outside, good lighting and you are not using the zoom function. I bought a loser camera. Do not make the same mistake that I did. The Cannon I use at work focuses in all lighting situations, takes good video and night time pictures. I should have spent the extra money to get it. I am sooooo sorry now. I gave it a decent amount of trying and they won't take the camera back because I have had it over 14 days. I hope this helps someone else out. I am out my money!
- beautiful camera one of the best i have nice pictures very very clear
good zoom reduce red eye
- I purchased the FE-310 and think it is a good buy for the money. I am still learning how to use all the controls.
- Don't buy this camera!!! It will NOT work with NiMH batteries (the manual says it will work with NiMH) and it doesn't fully discharge alkaline batteries. I only got about 50 pictures on the included set of alkaline batteries.
I also didn't think that the pictures were all that sharp, for a 8MP camera. The shutter response is very slow and the face recognition doesn't work until the face fills a large part of the screen.
Overall this is a poor camera.

- Some people sure expect a lot for fifty bucks. Unless you've really trained your kid how to use a real camera (and can be sure they won't bust it) this is a good first one. You won't win any photography contests, but if your kid (or grandkid, as in our case) likes to point and shoot at anything and everything, he or she will have fun with this. But remember - it's a toy, and packs a lot more fun than many $50 do-nothing toys we've sent down the rathole.
- Unfortunately, I didn't do my homework on this one and got burned. This camera is a complete waste, I agree with the other poor reviews.
- I recently bought the Hannah version of this camera for my daughter's 8th birthday. She loves it! We haven't really seen any of the problems that the other reviews claim, so maybe they were just unlucky and got a faulty camera. I've had that happen myself with a couple electronic devices I've purchased in the past, but I was able to exchange them at the places I bought them - and the replacement always ended up working fine (so it was just a manufacturing defect I'm guessing). This camera isn't quite 1 megapixel, so it doesn't take the best pictures ever, but what do you expect for a kids camera? Especially a camera that isn't even 1 megapixel - I think if you expect a camera that's less than a megapixel to have crystal clear pictures, then you need to stick with 35mm, or do some more research on digital cameras so you know what to expect and what you're talking about. My daughter loves Hannah Montana, and she also loves stealing my digital camera to play with. The fact that I found a starter toy camera with Hannah on it was the main motivating factor for me, because now she wants to play with her camera more than mine....so I'm not going to complain.
- We bought two of these cameras for the grandkids, age 5 and 7. Sad to say, neither one of them got any pictures. One camera won't even turn on, the other one downloads pictures via their software and then erases them, everywhere! The pictures disappear. I can't say how the picture quality is because neither camera has produced any.
- I purchased this for my son, after buying one on constructive playthings for xmas that turned out to be junk. The first cars camera didnt even work so I took it back and exchanged for another... it wasnt even compatable with my Vista computer so I couldnt even download the software, you couldnt even tell when you were taking pictures, total waste and now I find myself looking for another one . . . ugh

- For a cheaper camera the picture quality is great. The screen on back is extremely small that is my only complaint. Otherwise good camera.

- In a former life (18 years ago) I did some professional photography (portraits & architectural) and I used professional equipment daily.
I haven't been in the photography business for many years but I still know good photos when I see them and this little gem can even make up for some of my bad habits and poor subject matter as well. I'm not going to get into the technical side of what make this a good camera other than to say on automatic or controling each aspect of your shot it works well. At 8 Mega Pixels the photos blow up very nicely and I am even proud to show them on my 13 foot projection screen. (as long as you're not too close they look very crisp)
If you are use to (and like) the menus from older Olympus cameras you will instinctively know how to use this camera with a few exceptions. The menus have been simplified and are easily navigated. My only complaint is that I have large hands and fingers and I can sometimes activate the menus and controls by accident while shooting.
In addition to the camera, is the camcorder - very nice! It doesn't shoot anywhere near the resolution I would like, but the easy of use and the fact that it is right there with a dial of a knob has made it so easy to get a few little movies in-between still shots that even my technically challenged wife is taking video now. (and believe me that is a big deal - she loves this little camera) So the functionality and accessibility of shooting video more than make up for the resolution (resolution isn't that bad when you consider you might not have shot the video footage in the first place if you didn't have the camera handy)
For the small price you pay for this camera you would have spent well over $1,500 in 1987 dollars. I really like this little camera and if I had smaller hands I'd give it 6 stars.
- I have had 2 digital cameras previously that were much more expensive, and I still like this one better! It's really light and small, and super easy to use (even my dad can use it!). I highly recommend it.
- Purchased this camera through Beach Camera. Happy with the company, very happy with the quality of photos from the Olympus FE-250. Colors are vibrant, the camera itself is VERY compact. I would recommend buying a case for it, I scratched it on it's first use, but probably because I was so used to tossing my old dinosaur of a digi-cam around. the only complaint is the shutter speed is quite slower than some other cameras, so if you like to take quick photos, this isn't the best bet. but if you're in the market for an easy to use, compact, nice looking camera that takes nice looking photos, I recommend it.
- After going over tons of reviews for tons of cameras I finally purchased the Olympus FE-250. That was absolutely the best decision I ever made! I love this camera so much. Pics turn out wonderfully. I have only had it for a few weeks and still learning, but it's pretty simple. My favorite part: It takes panoramic pics; it will snap 10 shots super fast. Perfect for getting pics of my kiddos in action! It's so small and compact it fits in my back pocket easily. It's sleek, classy & gorgeous. I have gotten so many complements on this product. Would definitley recommend this to anyone wanting a can that can do just about anything but needs simplicity as well.
- The camera itself is a thing of beauty - very sleek and compact. The features are nice, but in a decently lit room I couldn't get rid of the noise in the background where it was a little darker. The camera was stolen before I could experiment with it much more (still a bit bitter about that), but for a basic point and shoot, you could do worse.

- I got this and sent it right back - the S5200 is just fine by me - this one has the one thing I wanted - the zoom capability during video taping BUT it had little else to justify the 100 or so more dollars over my S5200 - and the lens was bulky and huge and that was how the zoom worked - unlike the ease of the S5200 which has two small in and out buttons on the back that I can use with my same shutter hand during concerts. It might be fine for other things but not for live concerts where you are trying to watch the show and do too many things at the same time
- I had tried Sony DSC H9, Canon S3 IS but compared to all of this i found this to be very good. We can play around with photos when we set it to Program Mode & Manual Mode. In day light i get very rich colors but when it is cloudy you may have to increase exposure.
- After my experience with my S7000 I WOULD NEVER RECOMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!!! BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU BUY THEIR PRODUCTS THEY DON"T STAND BEHIND THEM VERY WELL........
- I really love this camera. I debated between this on and the Rebel XTI. And I'm so glad I choose this one! Not only is it cheaper but comparing pictures with others Rebel pictures it blew them out the of the water. Settings take a little work. Flash is a little bright at close range. But nothing a cheap diffuser can't fix.
- I am a professional photographer, and I must say I dont mess with the hassle of a costly SLR with even more costly additional lenses. I use the Fuji S9000 camera as my main camera, and the Fuji S5200 as my back up. Both cameras give excellent photo quality. I bought the Fuji S9000 for the hot shoe mount, the megapixels, and the zoom. It works beautifully. Im even thinking about buying a second one so I have two just incase. I highly recommend this product. If you want to see photos using the camera, go to my website www.jessicanigrophotography.com.

5 comments about Canon PowerShot SD950IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 3.7x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom Coach Edition.
- I have officially learned my lesson, I will never stray from Canon again no matter what Consumer Reports or anyone else says. Canon makes a very good camera and I have been happy with my Canon camera's time and time again. Every time I am tempted by a different brand I get burned. Most recently by Fuji. This Canon camera is a little powerhouse. There are enough features and options to get really technical about your photography, but the auto setting is good enough to take mindless snapshots and have high quality results. I love it! It is smaller and more feature rich than my last three camera's and it takes a much better picture than my most recent camera mistake.
- When I don't want to tote around my bulky DSLR, the SD950IS does a great job. I can carry it in my shirt pocket and hardly know it's there. The shutter lag is shorter than other P&S cameras I've owned. Sharp pictures too.
- I absolutely love the features of this camera. Despite the negative things others have listed in their reviews, I still like my camera--I'm only an amateur and don't use all the features very often. We bought this camera last November, and while we were on vacation last week, it quit. The lens will not open or close completely. Can't take a picture, download, etc. I was very disappointed and expected better quality for the price. Fortunately for me, it's under warranty, but it's still aggravating. This is my second repair experience with a Canon digital camera--may try a different brand next time.
- I've had this camera for about a month and am very happy. I took it on a aclimbing trip and got some great pics of the rainier summit and the sunrise. It has also worked very well in macro mode. I do feel as if the stabilizer improves the picture quality.
- This is one really great little camera. Takes very sharp pictures and video, and it is very user friendly.
