5 comments about HP Photosmart M547 6.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
  1. My sister bought this camera for my daughter for Christmas. We are really impressed with it's quality. I own a Canon A560 and I think the pictures taken with this camera are even nicer. It's very user friendly and you can do some nice editing on the camera itself. I am very impressed. (And I have to be pretty impressed or not impressed to go out of my way to write a review).

  2. HP Photosmart M547 6.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
This is my second HP after 7 years. HP was my choice again for the ease of use, ease of understanding the
instructions and ease of connecting to the printer and the MAC computer. The screen is large, and what you see in the screen is the you picture get.

For the price is was THE RIGHT CHOICE AGAIN ----HP.

    Charmaine

  3. The 6.2MP HP M547 Photosmart's not a bad utilitarian camera and good overall value for the $75 Online price, and the $9 2GB SD Card I got on Amazon using the Google Checkout discount was a great deal; But the 6.2 HP M547 Photosmart camera is not anywhere close to the camera my 4MP Nikon digital is. Good thing I found my Nikon again. I guess it's true, you get what you pay for, even if I did pay $200 for the 4MP Nikon 2 Chrismas' ago.

  4. THIS CAMERA PERFORMS WELL AND OUT PERFORMS SOME 8 PIXEL CAMERAS.IT STOPS MOTION REALLY WELL. MADE MY CEILING FAN AT FULL SPEED LOOK LIKE IT WAS STANDING STILL SO IMAGINE WHAT IT WILL DO AT THE GAME. vERY GOOD FOR THE PRICE.

  5. We bought this for our son in March. He only was able to use it a few times before the lense would no longer retract. Unfortunately, we were on vacation for 3 weeks when it happened and the camera only had a 90 day warranty, which ran out while we were gone. Now we have an expensive, useless camera. I expected more from HP.

5 comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ50S 9.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom with wi-fi (Silver).
  1. I'm very satisfied with this camera. It's loaded with features.
While you will find on expert reviews that the manual control is poor, it's not that bad, in the manual mode you can even modify the shutter speed and the exposure (better than most ELPH Canon cameras, you will have to choose on a limited set of options for this though).
It takes better pictures than what I was specting (they are not as sharp as they could be because of the Panasonic approach to handle noise reduction, but they are good), and the video is also really good (the audio recording is not perfect but what were you specting this is not a professional camcoder.)
It records really good video but it requires lots of space a 15 min video will need about 1.5 - 2 GB of storage), the zoom is pretty awesome its 10x but if you need a little more power you can take 3MP photos with a 16.9x zoom, and the digital zoom is not as bad as I thought. The wireless capabilities are a plus and just in case you were wondering as I was before, you do not need to use the Tmobile service if you don't want to, you can configure internet access through your own access point. The high definition LCD is really good. It also takes good pictures without flash.
From my point of view right now (July 27 2008) there is not a competitor for this camera, the tx1 is not a rival for this one. The only thing I can think of that will improve this camera enormously will be to make the LCD movable (to take pictures on difficult angles or self portraits like the tx1). And this is still a compact camera although it may not fit in some pockets you can take it anywhere easily.
As a conclusion you will not regret buying this one.

  2. Great camera, excellent pictures. Still learning about what the camera can do. Battery lasts a long time.

  3. This is an outstanding camera. Muuuuuuch better than previous Panasonic models. The picture quality is great and the camera is very easy to use. A few friends of mine have the Canon and Sony models but after they saw the DMC-TZ50S they were blown away.

I'm still trying to figure out the WiFi but I guess it would help if I read the manual...

  4. It's hard to find fault with the TZ50 as a basic compact ultrazoom camera. The T50 offers all the performance and flexibility of the excellent TZ5, which is certainly why many consumers will find it so appealing. Sure, Panasonic could have made the TZ50 a much more useful photographic tool by including basic features like P/A/S/M modes, but the reality is that most point-and-shoot users won't miss these features. The new WiFi upload feature is sure to be attractive to many consumers looking to quickly share their vacation photos. Nevertheless, it's hard to overwhelmingly recommend the TZ50 over the TZ5.

When everything is said and done, although the TZ50 allows you to wirelessly upload your images to your Picasa web gallery the process isn't nearly as easy as it might sound. Since the TZ5 can be purchased for a full $100 less than the TZ50, I suspect most average consumers will be happier uploading images the "old fashioned way" directly from their desktop or laptop computers rather than stumbling through the clunky WiFi interface on the TZ50.

If the WiFi mode setup doesn't scare you, though, the TZ50 makes an excellent choice for anyone who wants an ultrazoom camera and wants to quickly share photos while traveling.

  5. Camera on regular usage is excellent and pictures are very clear. Wi-fi connection is another thing. At home or at the office it takes many tries to have it connect. I had it about a month, then it constantly asks me to turn the camera off and on again and it refuses to connect.I have different ISP's at home and office. Tried it at T-mobile hot spot too same problem. I called Amazon they said it was more than 30 days so I should return to manufacturer.I called the manufacturer and was asked to send it for repairs. Its with Panasonic now and I would wait and see.

  1. This case is an excellent protector for the camera. It has well-designed access holes for all the ports, but covers them nicely when not in use. It allows you to leave other bulkier cases at home and drop it in your pocket, which was my main requirement.

The rubber petals that cover the lens look very cool when it opens and seem to protect it well.

    I have 3 suggestions:

    1. Use a better quality plastic for the back. The current one protects the screen nicely, but scratches very easily and isn't that clear to begin with. I am thinking about taking it out and using a stick-on screen protector as it's quite opaque in bright light now.

    2. The silicon case, while providing great protection, is not very slippery, making it hard to get out of the pocket in a hurry. I struggled quite a bit on my recent ski holiday with gloves on.

    3. Drop the price! It's pretty expensive for what it is, although it does perform its function well.

  2. The cover feels like the camera was born with it- even better than the one I have for the SD 800

5 comments about SeaLife SL 320 Reef Master Mini Digital Camera.
  1. I was very satisfied with this camera. I found it very easy to use. I took it to the beach and had it in the water for about an hour or so and it only used a quater of the battery. I took about 50 or 60 pictures. Some were a little grainy but most were pretty clear. It uses a digital zoom instead of optical so quality diminishes with increased zoom but not too bad. I think the software that came with it was the worst part. The programs to edit my pictures didn't work as well as the ones I got with my other camera. All together I was very pleased.

  2. I haven't yet tried it when I go scuba diving, but for the price it looks like it's going to be a great camera for easy picture taking under water.

  3. I got tired of using a housing and having blue pictures underwater. I bought this camera with the extended flash. The underwater pictures were amazing. I was very pleased with the quality of the picture. No Optical zoom wasn't a big problem, but I will probably invest in the wide angle lens attachment next.It does go through the batteries fast though. Land pictures were OK, but not as good as our olympus.

  4. OK, this seems to be the cheapest digital underwater camera there is but you get what you pay for. You will want to get this one instead of the version rated to 45ft only because you do not know how deep you may get. Someone in our dive group had the 45ft model and it flooded while mine was fine. Also, it is definitely NOT a replacement for your standard camera on dry land or even on the beach - there are several waterproof/sandproof models out there that make way better pictures but they cannot go diving.
The camera has two fixed focus settings and so it often makes fuzzy/shaken pictures esp. under low light. Switching between the two settings is hard, esp. underwater, and it would be impossible with gloves on or for someone with soft nails. Underwater pictures are washed-out bluish and lack color even with the "sea" setting. Do not expect anything close to the vivid colors you see in corral reef pictures and movies. The flash does not seem to do anything useful under water (tried on a night dive). The manual says do not jump with it in have someone hand it to you but that is not always an option. The strap is short had to extend it so that I could make pictures with the camera safely clipped to the BCD. It goes through batteries very fast esp. in movie mode and usually did not last through 2 dives, yet it is hard to change the batteries on the boat and keep the o-ring and around clean (used compressed air from empty tank). The rubbery cover is soft and weak, it got quite worn out after just one week of diving when I kept it in the pocket of the BCD (so that it would not get in the way and would not dangle either).

  5. after using this camera 2 times, the shutter button got stuck down and wouldnt pop back up. 2 AA batteries would only last about 30 minutes and then the camera would turn off when the shutter was pressed.

5 comments about Fujifilm Finepix A900 9MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom.
  1. Fujifilm Finepix A900 9MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom is just another compact camera that takes decent pictures but could have been much better. It is small enough to carry around, Simple Point and Shoot Camera for any user who has no knowledge about cameras, But for serious photography please look elsewhere!

    PROS:
    (+) Decent 9MP Captures
(+) Decent battery life and use of Standard AA batteries possible
    (+) Compact size
    (+) Very nice Macro Shots!

    CONS:
(-) Very poor LCD Preview Screen
    (-) NO View Finder
    (-) Poor Flash output
    (-) Slower Startup time

You can probably say "It is okay" if you play less than $150 dollars, But there are cameras out there which can deliver better functionality for the price.

Note: IF you want to use SDHC Memory cards (Greater than 2GB) Make sure that you update the Firmware to 1.10, But in order to update to 1.10 Fujiflim forces one to have a Memory Card in the camera to update! GO Figure!... I was lucky as I had some spare SD cards available for me to finish FW update to 1.10 to accomodate High Capacity SD cards. I was able to use Kingston 4GB SDHC Class4 cards after FW update!.

  2. I know little about photography and my husband knows even less. So I needed an easy to use camera that takes great pics. The color of my photos are excellent, and I love the 9MP for cropping into photos. Fuji Finepiz A900 is so easy to use and, little but not too little to hold onto. Small enough so that I can carry it in my purse. I love all of the automatic settings, at least 9 of them, if only it had a 10 pounds thinner mode, or 10 years younger mode ;)

  3. BROUGHT THIS A CAMERA SIX MONTH'S AND TAKE GOOD PICS AND EVEN MOVING PICS ARE GREAT.

  4. I got this last summer and i return in 1 day.
it was heavy awful poor pictures even out door.
    fussy blur pics !
i do not recommend this bad camera to nobody.

  5. I purchased this camera because I was so pleased with my well used A400. All the features I wanted were in the A900 and I was not disappointed with first photo's!

  1. We have had this camera for only about 4 months and have used it sparingly since it is my husband's camera for use at work in case they need a photo of something. It is already broken. The lens won't extend and open when you turn it on- thus impossible to use. When you turn it off, the lens opens up. It is not worth even $99.00. How disappointing in this day of digital cameras that HP can't come up with something a little better than a disposable camera from the supermarket.

  2. This camera is outstanding. It is easy to use with a ton of options and features to use. The software downloads quickly and easily. It was a perfect gift and I'm glad I bought one for me too!

  3. Pro's:
    - Easy to learn.
    - Nice sized LCD screen
    - Clear pictures
    - The price was right

    Cons:
    - Battery Eater. (One solution to this problem is you should purchase rechargeable batteries if you don't want to spend a fortune)
    - If its dark you can barely see anything on the LCD screen, you would have to guess.
    - The flash takes a while to go off. (I personally don't mind. I haven't had to take any pictures of moving things in the dark. But For Example: If I want to take a picture of a flying bird and its dark, it might take a second for the flash to go off and by then you might miss the shot).

All in all I really like this camera. Its my first one. If its great for me it might be great for other beginners. Its not great, but its a good acceptable little camera.

  4. I have not had any of the problems I am reading on here, so I can't comment on what happened to them. All I can say is that this is a great little camera for the money, it takes pictures in brilliant color and is so easy to use. I do agree with one reviewer who said pictures in the dark are hard to see, you do have to guess, and pictures at a distance (cityscapes at night don't come out very well, that would be my only minor problem and the only thing that keeps me from giving five stars) I bought a camera dock and rechargable batteries right from the start so I have no battery problems and I can download my pics right to my laptop either directly through a USB cable or through the camera dock. It also has great and easy to use settings for borders, color schemes and antique to black and white settings as well. I've never had a camera that takes such great pics, so easy to use and costs so little. I would tell anyone looking for a good basic camera that isn't going to break you to go for it, I don't know what these other people on here are using their camera for but mine is just fine and I love it!

  5. Can't buy this camera in stores anymore. It's obsolete. This is a replacement for an identical camera that I dropped and broke. I liked the picture quality and features of the original so much, I wanted to replace it with the original. I like it.

  1. I cant believe that noone has commented on this camera yet. I love it and it takes absolutely gorgeous detailed photos and found the video feature handy when taping my grandson on his grandpas fourwheeler I took a nice film and a few prints and in less than an hour I had a dvd to give to others of our weekend in the Adirondacks. the camera is durable, like a titanium brushed finish, very solid in hand, no problems with camera and have had about a year now. I can't believe the detail in the closeups of my pets etc. Great camera, great buy.

5 comments about Lowepro CompuDaypack Camera Bag (Burnt Orange).
  1. I originally bought this bag for a friend. Like myself, she has an advanced digital camera, as well as a laptop. Her main concern was having to carrying a fairly large cam bag, as well as a laptop bag when traveling.

The bag proved to be such a great solution to the two bag issue, I ordered it for myself. In my case, this bag solves my 3 bag needs. Not only is there a space for my cam/laptop, there is a generous sized compartment (big enough to carry contents of you pocketbook). If you're a knitter, you'll find that the lens compartments are great storage for notions/yarn.

As a knitter, you're always looking for the best way to carry all of your normal crap, AND you're knitting. Well the CompuDayPack is definitely something to consider.

My only complaint is that the main compartment only has one zipper. So if you're not holding the bag fully upright, there's a chance that you stuff will come spilling out.

  2. This daypack is a very convenient way to store and carry a lap top while travelling. The pockets are well-constructed and designed to allow storage of the computer, its associated gear, and a small manual or two. Prior to obtaining this item, I had the standard off-the-shoulder pack which caused wear on my shoulders, necessitating constant switching. This backpack allows a much more convenient carrying style. It is also easier to remove the computer for airline security inspections.
My only concern is that some of the pockets should be removable for uses other than carrying a computer or for personalization of the packing style.

  3. If you have a camera, flash, 1-2-3 extra lenses (not large ones) and want to take that with you along with your laptop (i use a 15" powerbook). I highly recommend this bag. I use it for traveling. I can take my camera gear, my computer, and the other compartment is pretty big (not for clothes or stuff like that) but for cds, cd players, sunglasses in cases, etc. The fact that the laptop compartment is separate is REEAAALLY helpful in airports... fast.

  4. I bought this bag to house my 17" HP Pavillion laptop, Canon XTi, 3 lenses, a flash and various personal items for my upcoming travels.

Everything fits perfectly, even the laptop!

There has been some chatter on the reviews on this, that 17" laptops dont fit. This is true if you don't remove the foam insert from the bottom of the laptop compartment. I was struggling to get my lappy to fit until I realized it was there; once removed, everything fit easily.

My only gripes about this bag are the single zipper on the main compartment, and a lack of places on the bag to attach carabiners to. Other than that, it's perfect.

  1. I bought the camera and used it to take a few photos in the house. It is easy to use and has many features for such a low-priced camera. When I took it outside to take a photo of my snow-covered house, I found a problem. It does not have an old-fashioned look-through viewfinder. The digital viewfinder screen is large and easy to see in the house, but not bright enough out in the sun. Therefore it was difficult to frame my image. I am taking it back to where I bought it (for $99.58 + tax).

My 5-year+ old Canon Powershot Elph has far fewer features and a much smaller digital viewfinder, but I will buy some new batteries and use it for a while.

  2. I would recommend this camera to anybody who loves to take pictures, it shows such great detail to were it makes anything you shoot comes to life. The only downfall is that I do recommend buying rechargeable batteries but come on don't get upset for it is worth the price for if you think about it nothing is to good to be true I am not trying to get all sales pitch here because that is not me I am just an everyday Joe I just like this camera it is my first to own digital camera but not my first time using one and believe me I am a stickler when it comes to spending my money. But just to be on the safe side get the rechargeable batteries so you do not miss a beat come to think of it if you look at the other digital cameras out there even the Sony cybershot you need AA also, I bet you they don't last long either. That does end my review and sorry I don't have a pic to share with you, To me it is a better experience in person. So yes I would say yeah if you are thinking about it yes I would buy this camera again if I was looking.

  3. I heard great reviews about this camera but my experience was not good. After I read the instructions and turned on the camera the shutter only opened part way. Then when I took a video there was no sound. Then when my husband started taking pictures there where lines in every shot. Mine may have been a lemon in a good lot but I sent it packing and I am going to do more research for an affordable compact camera!

  4. I researched a lot of cameras in search of a good one. I saw this one and this camera is a great deal. I think it lives up to its 4-5 star rating. Its sleek. Holds up well to drops. The only thing i don't like is that the battery chamber is a little loose and the batteries fall out in my pocket if I'm moving around a lot.
It has great zoom and easy to use functions.
I would also suggest getting a battery charger, batteries wear out quick as with any camera!

  5. I bought this camera about 3 months ago. The whole time I have had it, I've been frustrated with the quality of the picture. It has some great features on it for sure, but the optics are horrible. I can't take any shot indoors without a flash, no matter what time of day it is, and how sunny the room is. I think the problem is that it doesn't get to a wide enough aperture (especially zoomed in). I tried manually setting the ISO to 400, but it didn't help, and the pictures came out noisier than Hillary Clinton.

Bottom Line, if I wanted another cheap camera, I would go with maybe a 5MP camera made by Canon or HP. I think that I would find that the pictures would actually come out better. (not an overstatement)

5 comments about Tamrac Adventure 7 Photo Backpack (Red/Black).
  1. The Tamrac Adventure 7 Photo pack worked really great for what what I bought it for. I used to have my 20D with a 17-85 in a padded pellican box strapped to the back of the luggage rack on my snowmobile, but it was still taking a beating with all the shaking. I usually wear a back pack anyway, so this replaced the one I was wearing and it held my camera nicely. I like the fact that I can get to my camera very quickly even if the pack is on someone elses back. There is room for a couple of photo cards, batteries, filters ect... in lower front pouch. I don't have a 70-200 yet, but some people say it will barely fit in the pack. The upper compartment is large enough to fit two light jackets or wind breakers or one medium jacket. For the price it was a good buy. I don't like a lot on my back when I'm doing active things. This was just the right size.

  2. Use this for my Canon 40D. I have no complaints. Will have room for exptra lenses and external flash once my finances will alllow me to purchase. Very comfortable and well-built packpack.

  3. This backpack is great! It is just the right size...not too big, not too small. Having a separate compartment for other items is great, too. It is perfect for hikes, bike rides and other things associated with an active lifestyle. I would highly recommend it to others.

  4. Since I purchased this backpack a month ago, I have used it several times. It protects my new SLR camera and I can still put water bottles on the side, food and a jacket inside. Additionally, it is very comfortable to wear. I highly recommend it.

  5. I did some research and read a lot of reviews before choosing the Adventure 7 backpack. I wanted a pack that would fit my Nikon D100, an extra lens or two, flash, filters, etc, for an upcoming day hike. The pack performed admirably. It is comfortable to wear, and held the gear I needed it to hold. Like others who have written reviews, I did not purchase the extra tripod straps; I slipped my tripod into one of the side pockets and tied it to the top loop.

Pros: Comfortable, flexible positioning of dividers makes it easy to load, great to carry through airports (as other reviewers have said, it doesn't scream "CAMERA BAG! STEAL ME!" like some other bags do) The top compartment is a little cozy, but has enough room for a lunch, and the basics for a day hike.

Cons: None for my purposes. If you are a real die-hard and have tons of equipment, this bag will be too small. The top compartment is a little small, but was adequate for my needs.
