5 comments about Olympus Camedia D425 4MP Digital Camera.
  1. I was on vacation about a year ago and slammed my digital camera in the car door. I was in the middle of Utah and my options were limited, so I bought the D425 as a quick replacement. I have to say that the photos I took with it were spectacular, mostly of landscapes and geological formations in bright sunlight. Since then I have been very disappointed with the performance of the camera. The shutter delay is horrible and I usually end up with pictures of my friends with distorted faces because they ask "whats taking so long" when the camera finally records the image. There are no bells and whistles on this camera and the overall performance is okay for a rookie but could sometimes be frustrating. My wife was so frustrated I had to buy another camera for her to use.

  2. nice camers with great pics.. easy to use software. the pics were very colorful both indoors and out and in low light areas as well. dont have to use lots of brains for this camera. it really is fun to use.. I love it.

  3. I bought this camera for my 16 yr old daughter for Christmas. I wanted a basic camera for her first digital. Unless you are only a few feet away from the subject, the pictures come out very blurry.
My older son and I both have the Olympus Camedia D545 camera. I was so impressed with that camera, I thought one step down would be the way to go.
The Olympus seems to be a great brand, and has a great software program with it.
I'm not at all pleased with the D-425, and am going to try to exchange it.

  4. I bought this camera with my first student loan. It was a lot more then! I absolutely love it still. It takes AMAZING pictures. I have several prints from pictures that I've taken on my walls as posters.

    What I like about it:
This camera takes great night shots. All you have to do is hold it steady. I have some amazing pictures of the beach under the full moon. Since I first saw this sight I wished that I had a camera that would capture it.
I have dropped this camera down a mountain (Literally. Broken Top Mountain in Oregon.) and it survived! It also survived an ice storm, some glissading, and white water rafting that trip alone. Other than that I've taken this camera spelunking, hiking, coast to coast, weddings, work, sporting events, and photos for non-profit organizations. This camera is perfect for all occasions.
I'm a college student (still) and this camera has made it through my drunken friends taking pictures, dropping it in beer, being in my HUGE purse and my backpack. I've wrecked my bike and landed on it... it's been through a lot. It looks like it wouldn't work, but it works like the day I bought it!

The only downside to this camera is I take pictures on the largest resolution there is. This makes the shutter a little slower so I don't always catch the perfect moment, but I'm still 99% satisfied!

  5. This was my first digital camera and let me tell you, it's a great beginner's camera. I had it for 3-4 years now and still works great! Lighting could be a problem in some cases, but other than that, it works perfectly fine especially since it doesn't have as many megapixels as other camera. It's easy to use, and I would def. recommended it.

5 comments about Olympus Stylus FE-240 7.1MP Digital Camera with Dual Image Stabilized 5x Optical Zoom (Black).
  1. The camera is very easy to use, but the picture quality isn't great. I have a Sony Handycam with digital camera(1.5 Megapixel) which takes better picture (may not have the resolution).

Overall a good and very handy camera for the price I paid. Amazon did a good job in shipping it promptly.

  2. From an another point and shoot camera, I opted for Olympus FE-240 in spring 2007. It is not difiicult to use, but pictures taken in indoor are very much deceiving. When I compare those pictures taken by other cameras at the same place and the same time, I am really frustrated...

  3. I purchased this camera in late June and had the greatest luck. It takes great action shots of kids playing soccer! But as time wore on the camera started to not function properly. And I rarely use this camera and have been especially good care of it. It now will only take one picture at a time. Where as it used to take picture and you only had to wait one second for the screen to clear. But now I have to completely take the battery out to get the camera to turn off. All the buttons freeze up. Maybe I just have a lemon in this camera, because everyone else's reviews are great. Overall good camera for the price. But not I'm not impressed at all. If you are looking for a good camera. Go for a sony or Nikon.

  4. Pretty neat little camera, I bought this as a Christmas gift and it arrived really quickly. Comes with USB cable, wrist strap and battery charger. Holds 12 high res pics without a memory card, and about 100 low res. I recommend a memory card in addition. Good item for the price.

  5. Here I go again! Just 5 weeks after my wife and I bought the Olympus FE-340 and FE-290 on the same day (see my other reviews), we decided to go ahead and buy another digital point-and-shoot. No, nothing was wrong with the earlier two cameras, we just decided that since they were very inexpensive, why don't we buy another one and just stuff one in each of the 3 cars in our household? That way, we don't have to keep reminding ourselves to bring a camera whenever we go somewhere. And since we were so impressed with the FE-340 and FE-290, there was nothing else on our minds but another Olympus. We have already gone thru a lot (as in a lot!) of cameras in our 26 years in the hobby and we've outgrown that desire for all the bells and whistles that can be found in other brands and models in this category. Let me make one thing clear to you: just the fact that you're searching for cameras in this category means that YOU WON'T USE THOSE ADVANCED FEATURES you're looking for in other models. I am definite that you'll never get out of the all-auto mode in 99.99% of your shots! If you do, I am also sure that you won't even be searching in this category! C'mon! The real purpose in looking for a point-and-shoot is just exactly that - so you can just point-and-shoot! And for that, this FE-240 is more than adequate - nice optical zoom range, nice LCD size, nice button placements - all at a price way more inexpensive than inferior models from other brands!
