2 comments about Canon EOS 40D 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF 28-135 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Standard Zoom Lens + 4GB Deluxe Accessory Kit.
- This is by far one of the best deals you can find online for the Canon40D. This review is for the packaged SLR deal which included the following
- Canon40D (new with warranty)
- 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
- Spare battery
- Monopod
- Tripod
- LCD screen protectors
- Bag
- Lens cleaning kit
- 4 GIG compact flash card
- SLR DVD
- USB reader
Honestly, the purchase is worth the price with just the camera + lens + spare battery + 4 GIG card. That was my main reason for purchasing such a package since this would be my first SLR and I was starting off from scratch. Hence, I would recommend this type of package for anyone interested in purchasing an SLR for the first time and want an excellent prosumer camera.
The bag itself is a standard camera bag. It works well by itself and a single lens attached, but I found it difficult (if not impossible with the out-of-the-box velcro pieces) to configure the inner pocket to hold the camera with an attached lens and 2nd spare lens. You will probably want to upgrade from this in a matter of days if you intend to take a lot of photos. It works though and nice to have if you have nothing to start with.
The DVD is kind of pointless, but it is aimed towards people who are very new to SLR cameras and have little to no understanding of the advanced features that you don't get out of a point-and-shoot. It was worth 30 minutes of my, but if you are really new, you'll probably want to pick up a good book at the bookstore. It's worth the price to pick up either the 30D or 40D Handbook.
The 4GIG card is practically a must if you intend to shoot at the highest resolution. Not to mention that if you even *THINK* about using the rapid shot at ~6.5 frames/second. Your memory goes fast at those speeds!!!
The screen protector is also nice for such a beautiful 3" screen. It comes with the package so you really should just put it on before you even snap your first picture.
The camera has an excellent battery life! Lithium batteries are the way to go for any camera, especially for the fact that they're rechargeable. I have yet to open the second battery because the battery life of a single battery is just so good. You could go a whole day without needing to replace them.
The memory card reader is standard, so I really don't need to comment about it. This is the same for the tripod and monopod. I have yet to even use them, but I guess I have them if I need them.
- The 40D is a quality product and all I expected. However, I stepped up from a Kodak DX6490 with 10X optical zoom which took incredible pictures. At this early stage of learning my new Canon, I have yet to exceed the quality achieved with my Kodak. Hopefully, I will soon learn the potential of my new camera.

4 comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ4 4MP Digital Camera with 12x Image Stabilized Optical Zoom.
- This camera is great. Huge 12x optical zoom, yet the camera is very small and portable. Plus it has optical image stabilization that works wonders. Best of all it is relatively cheap. Best camera on the market, forgot to mention the photo quality is superb even with automatic setings. Plus you can go full on manual aperture, manual shutter, and manual iso if you want. Plus throw in the really high speed burst mode and every other camera just got OWNED!
- After several months of use, the FZ4 continues to impress me. I had originally planned to get the FZ5 to replace my 3-yr old Panasonic LC5 but when I tried both, I found that an extra $100 or so bought me a slightly larger LCD (not enough to matter), sound when using the movie mode (which I have not used on any digital camera) and other useless gadgetry, like choice of silver or black body. I feel that the FZ4 is slightly faster and noise, which is usually seen in the shadows at higher ISO, is slightly reduced---and no purple fringing, period. Both are excellent cameras within their design parameters as cameras for sports, family gettogethers, nature and travel, not portrait or studio work although enlargements on the FZ4 are fine up to and including 8x11 and often even larger. What it lacks is a complete set of manual controls but if you want that you must get a DSLR and a couple of zoom lenses which will set you back several thousand. My Panasonic DMC-FZ4 was well under US$250, including tax and shipping.
- Great Caera, Great photos, however this is a 2005 model,
these days I would buy the Great Panasonic FZ7.
However this is a great Camera that takes excellent pictures!
(records video with no Sound).
- With out a doubt one of the best little zoom cameras ever! The Leica lens is amazing and our shoots are wonderful!
I find my self carrying this with me in my car at all times. We have bigger, more expensive digitals, but this continues to be my favorite all around camera. Our little ones (3 grandchildren) can not escape the pictures with this one! and they are IN FOCUS to boot!
Buy one if you can find one.

- Excellent camera and price. Purchase couldn't have been easier. The quality of the pictures has blown me away! Can't wait to learn all of the features available but was up and shooting as soon as it was out of the box. Very easy to use.
- I've had my A350 for over a month. I shot about 400 photos with it over the last weekend. I've hesitated to use it, due to what I presumed was bad design. It turns out that my camera has a misaligned viewfinder. I was having to aim lower, guessing what was the proper place to point at, and then take my shot. Sometimes I got what I was trying to photograph. Sometimes the image was cut off. Looks like this camera is going back for repairs. After that, who knows, it might be a great camera.

5 comments about Nikon Coolpix L14 7.1MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Blue).
- Bought this for my grandson at Christmas 2007. It was used 3 times then we got an error message of "lens err msg". Contacted Nikon and they indicated that it was still under warranty, sent it in.
Today I got an invoice for the repairs of $99.50. They claimed that it was dropped and the lens was dented. Pardon me how do you dent a lens? Called Nikon and they did not change their minds. Needless to say I refused to pay for the repairs which were $.50 higher then cost of camera. Checked with my son and their rules were that the grandson did not get the camera unless they were around and that it had not been dropped.
The camera's problem was that the lens cover would not open, so no pictures.
I also have a Nikon that I bought several years ago that also quit working but after above camera. Nikon indicated that the cost of repairs was 500-600 dollars.
Conclusion is that Nikon has bad products and a miserable repair service. Do not buy unless you like flushing your money down the toilet.
- This cammera takes AMAZINGLY clear photos, I have a L14, L16 and L18 i just recently bought as a gift for a close friend. These cameras are incredible on various levels.
FIrst off, the picture quality is razor sharp, can see fine hairs on someones face when focused.
The video quality and sound is also incredible, its like having a mini DV camcorder ...or at least very close to it. The video is silky smooth at 30fps (feels like 60) nothing choppy about it at all. Not very grainy either pretty sharp video and the sound is crisp and vibrant.
I usually use this to document videos of me singing and what not, my voice comes through clear as a bell with no sound distortion even on high notes. great for gettign entire conversations within a video.
last but not least is the batteries..usues standard AA batteries for changing on the go, no more worrying about rechargable batteries to replace in a few years, standard AAs are the most convieniant feature in a modern Digital camera.
for perfect point and shoot situations, vacations every day use...this camera cannot be beat.
- I don't understand why Nikon would put their name on this atrocity. This camera has an eternal shutter lag - any moving subject is long gone before the actual picture is taken. It also takes forever to power up. The pictures are dark, blurry, and below what even the most casual photographer should accept.
I bought this camera because I needed something compact and relatively inexpensive for a vacation and I regret it. It's a total waste of money. If you are looking for something cheap, you would be better of with a disposable Camera than this.
- Image quality was very disappointing. Images are like the ones you get from those old disposable film cameras. Don't waste your money on this camera.
- Thought this looked like a nice little camera for my teenager, except it broke after 2 months-just stopped in the middle of filming. 'Lens error'-covered under warranty. After my expense of shipping it back, and over 2 months of waiting, the camera breaks in 24 hours, after taking less than 10 pictures-lens error. Now I get to ship this piece of junk back again, for another 2 months.

1 comments about Polaroid A300 3.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Digital Zoom.
- I was looking for a cheap digital camera, because the previous one I had broke and the company refused to fix it. So I saw this, thinking it would be a good camera. But its not. This has to be the worst digital I've ever seen. And I've seen some bad ones.
The main issue I have is that the display screen sucks. No matter how bright it is around you, the screen is always dark, to the point where you can't make anything out. I read through the manual to see if there was anything I could do to remedy the problem, but I had no luck with it.
The second issue I have is that the battery life sucks. I've never seen a camera eat up batteries so quickly in my life. You can take maybe 5 pictures and then the whole camera shuts off and your batteries are dead. Even if you put brand new batteries in the thing.
Other issues are that the flash is just right out annoying. You have to constantly wait for the flash to be ready, which seems to take forever. And then when its finally ready, it wont let you take the picture. Or the batteries will go dead. And forget about taking a picture without the flash, because you'll be left with an almost black picture, which you cant make anything out.
When you do take a picture with the flash, you get an okay picture, but it looks grainy. I had to use my photo editor to clean it up.
The video option sucks as well. You only can film 60 seconds. And the video turns out dark and you cant make anything out. Plus you can barely hear the audio of it.
Dont waste your money on this camera. I ended up just tossing the thing because it was so bad.
