5 comments about Olympus D-395 3MP Digital Camera.
  1. takes very nice pictures in ideal lighting conditions. the macro is good as well.

would recommend it for a beginner.

  2. We bought this camera on sale just before our first child was born. A month later we learned it was on sale because it was discontinued, and with good reason. It doesn't live up to the Olympus legacy. Disposable cameras are more reliable then this joke of a product. What a disapointment it was to find the long pause in betweeen shutter clicks. Not to mention the slow shutter speed. "Careful! if you move ever so slightly the picture is blurry." is a common phrase at our house if someone wants to take a picture for us. You can forget about trying to capture smiles of a happy toddler. I hate this camera and wish I had not been penny wise and dollar foolish. get a Kodak, HP or canon and go on.

  3. I bought this thinking it would be a great compact camera just to stick in my pocket and snap a few pics. That is about all it is good for as long as you are in the bright sunlight.

If you need to use the flash or there is an overcast sky you pics will come out fuzzy; same if you need a flash. The only time I got a sharp picture was in full sunlight.

The shudder speed is EXTREMELY SLOW!!! If you are taking a moving picture...forget it! You had better be taking a picture of a sleeping turtle to be able to catch the picture. Also, saving the picture to memory card takes a good 5-7 seconds. Be sure to get your picture the first time because everyones smile will be a frown by the time you get to the second picture!

Overall, I am extremelt dissapointed at the performance of the D-395!

  4. I bought this camera about 2 years ago and never used much as I am technology challenged - did a few things with it, and was OK. However, we had family Christmas and memory card was filled after 23 pictures. I read all the manual, and then bought a 1GB card to install and got Card Error. Took it to a major retailer, who said camera would only support a 256 card and good luck finding one. Nowhere does it give you what memory card capability it has. Took on AK fishing trip in Aug before this, and never used as I took another one (old fashioned film) with me. Thank God, I didn't rely on this one as my primaryOlympus D-395 3MP Digital Camera. As retailer told me, I have a "Paperweight"!! I upgraded to a Stylus 730 and installed the 1GB card and am waitng to see how it works.

  5. A good camera for what it offers. I got this camera for less than $50.00. It does eat regular batteries but I started using Lithium and have used the same set for several months now.
Other than that it is impossible to find memory cards since this is an older camera. Stores about 30 pics at the highest level. Not recommended if you don't have somewhere to download your pics. Although my friends are glad they don't have to look at hundreds of pics from my travels ;)

This is the only digital camera I've had and I think the pictures are acceptable for a 3mp camera. I don't have the problems that others describe. I've taken this camera on two once in a life time trips and caught breath taking photos. However I'm realistic and know that it's not a high end camera that will show you the hairs on a dog from 50ft away. You will take pics similar to a disposable 35mm.

  1. well i bought this camera a couple nights ago and i was pleased with the looks of it and the price of it but when i turned it on i was unhappy to see that you couldn't see anything through the screen when i looked through it to take a picture! if i were you i would invest a couple more dollars into buying a camera that you can acually see what your taking a picture of!

  2. I also had the same issues with this camera. Not able to see the display at all, it is so dark, you don't even know what you are looking at. I wouldn't really recommend this product-but hey, you get what you pay for!

  3. This looked like a simple digital camera with for my daughter 6. The specs & price was fine for kid yet not a toy. Out of the box we had the following issues:

As in other reviews the LCD is so dark inside you can not use it. It is black unless you point it at a light or window. There is no adjustment for brightness. Also no view finder.
So all you can do is point and click. This makes the camera usable inside.

I had some boot up and freeze issues

Also the camera does not all ways see the SD card I installed.

You can not delete pictures on the camera need to attach to PC or use a card reader could live with this if you use a SD card vs on board memory.

On nice thing if the camera worked it has a clear soft cover that would be good if kid dropped it. (Cover stays on when taking pictures.)

  4. I purchsed this camera for my son who takes wonderful pictures. I gave him this camera for Christmas and had nothing but problems. The monitor is so dark that you can't see what you are taking pictures of. The only time you can see in the monitor is on a very bright sunny day. There are no settings to brighten the monitor. I sent an email to customer support then I received an automatic response to take the camera to a repair center. If you are considering buying this camera don't even waste you money. You will be frustrated and the outcome of your pictures will be horrible. I made this mistake and want to save anyone else who is considering it.

DO NOT CONSIDER BUYING THIS CAMERA.

  5. I wanted to throw in my two cents since this camera's gotten a few bad reviews. I bought it for about fifty bucks brand new from Target over a year ago for my son who was 6 or 7 at the time. I didn't expect it to take great pictures and never planned on printing any--it was just for my son to snap away with and have fun.

It has several features that make it great for kids like a non-protruding lens, a washable, removable rubber protective "skin" and easy-to-navigate buttons and menus--not to mention it was cheap. For the same price you can only get about 100 pics with disposable film cameras and processing, and you really take your chances with no-name brand digital cameras in the same price range.

The bottom line is, this camera has held up admirably in over a year of being used by a 7-year-old and he still loves taking pictures with it--at his age he doesn't care much about them being "tack-sharp" or printable at poster size. If you play to the camera's strengths, though, you can actually get good pics.

I've bought two other sub-100 dollar Polaroid digital cameras and I've had absolutely no problems with any of them--and they've all been handled by kids 10 and under, and dropped at least a couple of times.

  1. I got this NB-1L battery when I bought my Canon Powershot S200. This Canon battery perform noticably same as the original battery, and they also stay fairly cool. I've been using this battery for about 3 months, and so far I haven't noticed any decrease in capacity. It appears to hold its charge very well for weeks at a time

5 comments about Nikon Coolpix P2 5.1MP Digital Camera with 3.5x Optical Zoom (Wi-Fi Capable).
  1. This was the ultimate bang for the buck.... works great, takes good pictures. Best camera you'll find for under $100. The only letdowns: (1)The Wi-Fi turned out to be a proprietary setup that could not be easily configured (if at all) to work with a normal Linksys or D-link home network for file sharing with PC's. I gave up and used the usb cable instead. (2)Also uses a proprietary battery that runs out long before your memory card does, and of course it only comes with one battery. (3)Also uses proprietary cable connectors, so if you lose your cable, you have to $pecial order another one from Nikon (vs. other cameras that use standard mini usb and A/V cables that are interchangeable with other devices)

  2. I purchased this camera to replace one (same model) I had lost. It came with everything my original camera I purchased in the store came with, at a much lower price. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

  3. This is my second P2 camera. (I drown my first on at the Great Barrier Reef. Dive case leak)

I like the battery as it lasts 100s of photos on a charge. The photos come out great. I can plug it into most any TV and show my photos.

I throw it around and leave it in a hot car and it keeps working great. If I lose this one, I'll get another one just like it if the are available.

  4. It has been 3 years since we bought this camera. In that time, we have used it a lot for movies and photos.

The pictures were ok but not bad for the price (3 years ago). The movie quality can be increased, so we did that and have been pretty happy. Although if not is bright light, the result is grainy.

The Wi-fi is a joke. We set it up on my husband's mac and never got it to work on the PC. I have an SD slot, so we mostly used that.

The one thing that puzzles us is that almost all of the tiny screws have disappeared. Strange.

  5. Bought this because of the wireless connection.
Works fine with Power PC Macs, but Nikon has and will not provide software that will work with Intel Macs.

Therefore this was the last Nikon product I ever bought.
