4 comments about Samsung L200 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Black).
  1. I just got this camera today so it won't reflect too much on technical aspects/features. First of all I want to say that the picture featured here and Best Buy for L200 isn't correct. If you want to see the accurate picture then find L210 model and L200 looks exactly like that model. Only difference between the two model is L200 has Digital Image Stabilizer and L210 has Dual Stabilizer (both optical and digital).

I was really surprised at how small this camera is. I know lot of people actually coomplains of the compactness of some digital cameras, now I see their reason for complaint. Because it really does feel like it might slip and fall. But I like compact/thin cameras so it was big plus for me.

It comes with an AC adapter so you are not stuck with USB cable to recharge the camera through your computer. Also included in the package is A/V cable to view pictures or video directly through TV monitor.

Manual that comes with the package isn't much help since it's just a quick reference with 10 other languages. So you need to download the manual through the CD-ROM and it is 102 page worth of info that needs to be digested before actually appreciating all the features this little camera comes with. I took about 30 picture today and all of them look superb and I was twicking with different settings and modes.

Best reason to get this camera is the price.

Update: I have been using this camera for 15 days and I love all the quick scene modes and program mode. Auto mode does everything really well, too. One complaint I've is that it doesn't let you delete a shot during preview. For example, after you've taken a shot you can view it from 1-3 sec but you won't be able to delete the shot then rather have to go to picture view to delete. But I'm very satisfied with the quality pictures.

  2. great camera, fun and easy to use. I don't really have steady hands but all the pictures come out clear and perfect. I would definitely recommend people to give it a try. It's a really good price for a 10MP camera. Don't forget to buy SD memory card (does not come with camera)

  3. Excellent product. Priced at a great deal. Arrived about 3-4 days after purchase date. Nicely packaged and shipped.

  4. I wanted to get a new camera before I went to a concert, and I have to tell you, for what you pay, it's great. It's so easy to use, and I love the settings on it. You can pick what size you want your pictures to be. I've now gone to two concerts, and the pictures turned out amazing. I can remember those concerts better because of the quality of these pictures. If you buy this camera, you won't be disappointed!

  1. This camera is a bit of a missed opportunity. I've owned two previous Casio Exilim Card-series cameras in this same line. With each iteration, the camera gets better, and this one is no exception with respect to size, which is a big deal. The whole point of this camera is how small and therefore useable it is--you can take it to parties etc. It's smaller and more detailed than ever, and that's two steps forward.

However, Casio has inexplicably changed two things for the worst with this latest one. For one thing, it took away the cradle charger/downloader. No idea why they'd do that. It was a very convenient and stylish way to store the camera, and you could keep the battery in. Now you have to take it out and put it in the travel charger which is hanging on a wall plug--inconvenient and unsightly. Worse, you have to reset the time etc. on the camera every time now. For those of us who care about time and dates, this is a real pain.

The other step back, a worse one, is that once you choose a Best Shot mode and shut off the camera, you lose that default and it goes back to full auto. WHY?? The whole point of a tiny camera like this for many of us who keep coming back to this line is that we can fit it in our pocket and take it to parties at night. There, you need the Party or Nighttime scene mode. But every time you now shut off the camera and turn it back on, you have to go back to the scenes and find the mode again! WHY? Totally kills the moments, and it's a big step back. At least add an easy software option for those of us that want the camera to stay in a certain mode until we change it, like Sony has. This is a disappointing change in this line.

  2. a lot of people would probably want to compare this camera to the coolpix, but this is so much better. i love this camera. it starts up in less than 2 seconds and you can take about a pic a second so its great for events... its super responsive to button presses. there is no delay and switching between modes is instantaneous. the flash charges almost instantaneously too. best shot is the bomb. i wish i could throw out modes though. some of them are utterly useless and fill up the screen. flower mode is great for close-ups. i wish there was a "macro" mode so i didn't have to go to "flower" mode. it also looks awesome. they even paid attention to the way the battery cover locks in place. this camera is perfect in almost every way except for.... battery life. yes you will have to charge it every night if you do a lot of movie-taking, which is primarily what i bought this camera for. the movies are pretty decent quality. very sharp, and suitable for youtube. just not very big... go with the black one or the red one and you won't be disappointed. best $214 i ever spent on a camera.

  3. i'm a videographer/tv producer and shoot stuff with a sony v1u and also carry around a smaller format camera for picking up shots and random video. i formerly used a svp camera, which still works great, but only offers 4:3 images.

i did a lot of research and settled on the black exilim. it shoots great video in any kind of light and sound. i don't leave home without it.

  4. i`m satisfied about everything....about the site amazon.com...about the services...the shiping...and about the quality af the products..

  5. this camera is small, light, and quick to shoot... have gotten some great pics from it so far!! =)

  1. I purchased this camera for three main reasons its RAW capablities the 14.7 megapixels it offers and the Leica lens. It has a few nice options, one which I particularly like is the SCN mode for low light portraits. It has a delayed double flash which allows you to balance ambient light with the flash for a more pleasing look. The one dissapointment I've been able to discern is its low light capabilities. Anything past iso 400 is virtually useless on this camera. The noise is so pronounced I would steer clear of anything higher than iso 200 if you want to print larger than 8x10. Other than that it should suit my needs. I would not consider this any kind of replacement for a good digital SLR but if you happen to need something small and discreet which allows you to enlarge you pictures beyond 8 x 10 this should fit the bill.

  1. Olympus FE-310 8MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom (Black)
I could not be happier with this purchase.
Great pictures, no film processing, no hassles.
The merchant delivered ahead of estimated time
    and gets two thumbs up!

  2. I bought this camera with such high hopes only to be crushed. It takes horrible pictures! I am accustomed to using a Cannon at work so when I saw this 8MP camera on sale at the local Radio Shack I jumped on it. It is the perfect size for me to throw into my purse and I had already a bunch of XD memory cards. Bad choice. It will not focus for me in the zoom position although I have read the instruction booklet and tried all of the suggestions. About the only way it will take a good picture is if you are outside, good lighting and you are not using the zoom function. I bought a loser camera. Do not make the same mistake that I did. The Cannon I use at work focuses in all lighting situations, takes good video and night time pictures. I should have spent the extra money to get it. I am sooooo sorry now. I gave it a decent amount of trying and they won't take the camera back because I have had it over 14 days. I hope this helps someone else out. I am out my money!

  3. beautiful camera one of the best i have nice pictures very very clear
    good zoom reduce red eye

  4. I purchased the FE-310 and think it is a good buy for the money. I am still learning how to use all the controls.

  5. Don't buy this camera!!! It will NOT work with NiMH batteries (the manual says it will work with NiMH) and it doesn't fully discharge alkaline batteries. I only got about 50 pictures on the included set of alkaline batteries.

I also didn't think that the pictures were all that sharp, for a 8MP camera. The shutter response is very slow and the face recognition doesn't work until the face fills a large part of the screen.

Overall this is a poor camera.

5 comments about Canon PowerShot A720IS 8MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.
  1. Every time I learn more about this camera. I have several other Canon digital and regualr cameras and I'm a true fan of Canon cameras.

  2. I always research before I buy. Suggested retail price for this cam is $199.99 according to the Canon website.

  3. I recently bough this camera as an upgrade for my Canon A620. It is pretty much the same camera, except is has better specs and new features such as the image stabilizer. One of the selling points for me on this camera was the 6x optical zoom, which is a rarity in the point-and-shoot cameras. It is usually 3x. The only features that are present in my older Canon that I wish this one had is the Color Accent/Color Swap feature and I also wish there wasn't such a long delay between shots when using the flash.

  4. I'm no camera whiz. This camera worked great for me on a recent vacation. It does the smart stuff autamatically (facial recognition, image stabilization) and the viewfinder is a blessing in bright sunlight.

  5. The Canon A720 IS has to stand as one of the best all-round cameras of the decade. Sadly (and stupidly) Canon has discontinued this model which has sold in the hundreds of thousands world wide for the past 18 months, and replaced it with an inferior product -- in the form of the A2000 IS. What were Canon thinking!

Pricing point, features, full manual control, high quality 6x zoom lens, true image stabilisation and eye-level viewfinder, all wrapped up in a sleek, easy-to-hold package. Add in wide-angle and tele-converter lenses, and it's the perfect advanced-amateur camera. Image quality is spot on -- perfect colour rendition, good dynamic range, noise-free high ISOs, sharp and fast auto focus, and accurate auto white balance round out its technical capabilities.

The A720 IS is a camera that needs to be grabbed ASAP before it disappears forever!

5 comments about Kodak Easyshare V1253 12MP Digital Camera with 3 x Optical Zoom.
  1. Cons:
Got this as a replacement for our P880 from Kodak. Took over a year to sort it out with Kodak (7 returns) before they sent us a new camera. The v1253 is glitchy. Won't even work with some of the new Kodak branded memory cards. Kept getting file write errors. Aside from the last person we talked to for Kodak support (an American in Rochester, NY) Kodak support is everyone's outsourced nightmare. Long holds, repeating things on the screen over and over, mis-information. I didn't get to talk to the American until three weeks after Kodak had my camera for the last time. I had already given up on it and bought an Olympus DSLR E-410. Don't buy this or any other Kodak cameras, unless you want a big headache when they break in less than a month.
Camera will occasionally extend the lens and not turn on the rest of the way, thus making you remove the battery and put it back in (this also resets the clock, which you must set before taking a picture).
Camera has a stuck pixel right in the middle of the screen. Nice bright blue.
Compression on pictures is way too high - don't expect to print anything other than 4" x 6" prints - ever. My six year old Sony 3.2 MP takes better quality pictures.
Movie quality is so-so. You better have a brand new computer if you want to playback the HD setting. By the way, you'll need to convert it to a more usable format for any Video software to be able to use it.
You must charge it from the computer's USB port - there is no included charger.
NO Manual controls over aperture and shutter speeds.

    Pros:
    Fits in my pocket.
Pictures are well processed in the camera - good light processing well balanced.
Relatively quick power up to take a picture time - about a second.
Battery life is pretty good for that big screen

  2. Ok. So, you are the type of guy/girl who is always around and about on a regular basis. you see things others fail to notice. and you see it so you want to show it with your perspective. a dv cam is too big, and lets face it, those "Flip" cameras are just good for poor uploads. what if i tell you there is a camera, that not only takes grate pictures, but it also records HD 720p with stereo sound. And better yet, it has a huge ccd sensor. a 1/2.1" of an inch to be exact. bigger than most consume DV cameras (1/6th of an inch). the colors are stunningly accurate and very minimal fringing for the size of the lens. it is as good, or better than the canon s30 i previously own and still use. it also has the advantage of zooming in or out while recording. a big plus! but what about pictures you say? it has an amazing narrow depth of field of an f3.1 aperture. great for macro, portraits and close-ups.

sadly, unlike the canon, this lack the manual settings. such as: manual focusing and aperture value. witch i find really convenient for when the camera starts focusing on its own on an undesired object. you would think the lack of this two features would amp the focus. well, it does not. in fact is as slow as my old canon. and when it does, the results are unknown until after you take the picture. it does have face detection for when you start feeling lazy and just want to let the camera do her thing. is not fast! and even when on, it might not function at a very close range or very dark places. which is rather strange. for the pictures appear focused until you press the trigger and that is when the blur appears. it has a big sensor, this should not happen.

this is not a video camera replacement. close! very close! and i tell you why. the zoom is too loud for its two little ears. and you could hear it focusing at times. there are no headphone jacks, nor mic jacks. so, this is not a replacement. though, i have seen great videos recorded with this camera at vemeo.com. were people use a digital sound recorder for the voice. you will be surprised at the quality of the videos. the ISO goes as low as 64 iso. no noise! no noise people. the grains are barely noticeable. and it also has a slow shutter. up to 8 sec for those light tricks. the negatives do not compare to what this camera is capable of. so, buy it and see for yourself. and i see it's now $168.03 for an 8 months old model. WOW! i mainly use it for video. but the picture are as good.

i paid rather too much when it first came out. $250.00. and i was not sorry at all. after getting used to the retardation of the focus in pictures, and carrying a small tripod for tricky situations, i really enjoy it. it is the best combination i have ever had. video and picture in a camera smaller that your hand. and high quality in both. it is close to slr quality but not with the slr size nor weight.

  3. I am very much into cameras and have had the chance to own many. Loved some and disliked others. Up until now I have been using my Sanyo HD1000 camera to catch my little ones in action. The Sanyo is a great camera and is not too bulky on my side but thought maybe it was time after almost a year of use to look at something totally different!

I looked for some time. I wanted to find something smaller and never actually considered a point and shoot camera but wow was I supprised by this one. The pictures are fantastic and the HD video is great as well.
Now the video is not quite as good as my Sanyo but it is very good and the pictures that the Kodak takes cannot be compared to. The camera does work very well in low light for video. Very important for me.
The sound is truely stereo. I also love the fact that this camera is much slimmer than the Sanyo and does not get caught on door ways as I walk through them.

Ok now the bad. The battery must be charged through a small adapter and plugged into the USB port and the computer must be on for the camera to charge. The adapter is small and can, no will get lost easily. This adapter must also be used to download to the computer. In the video mode you will get lens flare or purple fringing if you are looking at bright light in its view. Not bad but it is there.

My conclusion is that for the money the pictures are fantastic and the video is great! I have put my 800.00 Sanyo in my draw to collect dust while I enjoy this wonderful Kodak V1253!

  4. I bought this as an anniversary gift for my husband. His first was a Kodak 4MP which died after about two years, and we were unsure whether the kids played and dropped it so that it would not turn on anymore. My husband loved the qualities of the photos then, despite the shutter lag (which was a pain when taking "kodak" moments).

So I bought him this new one (which eliminated that shutter lag problem) and we were very happy with it initially. This time we made sure it is safe from the kids. My husband had been particularly careful handling it (it was expensive at $297 bought at Best Buy!) but suddenly, it would have lots of horizontal white lines when taking photos, worse when outdoors using natural light! I tried to check the photos by inserting the SD card to my printer slot, and they were still there (so it was not the LCD that was the problem). The troubleshooting page of Kodak determined the problem as something I could not fix and that they would have to repair for FREE since it was within warranty. I wonder how long it would work ok after repair? Sent the camera (we paid for shipping) last week. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

So if you are seriously considering buying this camera, think again...

  5. I've had this camera for over a year, and it is still by far the best bang for your buck. The HD looks nice on a 16X9 TV, the pictures are ALWAYS high res, and colors are usually pretty well balanced. A little something I found randomly on the camera that has been a ton of fun is the panoramic mode that "stitches" the 3 shots you took together for a live preview in a few moments. One thing I would suggest for sure though is a hard case to protect it. The shutter release is kinda delicate and I've had to get it repaired, but this camera is a blast.

5 comments about Samsung NV24HD 10.1MP Digital Camera with 3.6x Optical Ultra Wide Image Stabilization Zoom (Black).
  1. Bought a Samsung NV24HD digital camera from Amazon on May 24, 2008. When I tried to register it online, I'd get a message that it wasn't a valid serial number. I didn't give that much thought, thinking perhaps they hadn't caught up with their production. Today is July 17, 2008 and they still haven't caught up.
I have found the camera difficult to set, difficult to use, and I've been unable to download pictures from the SD card unless I put the card in my Canon camera which works fine. I loaded the Samsung Master software into two PCs running Windows Vista. Neither computer recognized the camera. After an hour on the Samsung tech line it was agreed the camera is defective. When I asked for an address where to send it, I was asked for the serial number. I read it off and they told me it is not a valid serial number. Upon speaking to a higher up it was finally admitted the camera was manufactured in April of this year, "but we probably haven't caught up.
Amazon refused to give me a full refund. They did tell me I could return the camera and I'd receive a partial refund. How much? I asked. That's up to the return department after they inspect the camera. Under those terms they could return me $25 bucks on a $300+ camera.
If I send it to Samsung for repair I will not actually be sending it to Samsung. While SONY maintains its own repair facilities, Samsung hires it out to someone on 6th Avenue in NYC. Would I buy another Samsung product? I don't think so.

  2. This is an amazing camera! I absolutely love it! So compact and sleek plus HD! I went to Disney world and used this camera through out the whole trip! What better way to capture the magic then with this camera!

  3. Does this have a hole in the bottom to attach the camera to a tripod? I've seen no pictures of the bottom or specifications saying it does, and I want to use the camera to take pictures of rooms in houses I have for sale, rotating the camera on my tripod and stiching the pictures together afterwards.

  4. When I saw this camera while a visiting friend from Germany was using it here, I was mightily impressed. He had taken pictures from the plane, showing the glaciers on Iceland, and these were stunning in sharpness and detail. So I ordered the camera for myself that same day. I found that getting used to the cross-reference button system on the back is very awkward, because the documentation coming with the camera is more than poor. The dials on the top left and right will display their functions on the rear view screen, but it is so fast and short, one has no time to actually read what it is. So that makes it a guessing game of frustration. The camera is best used with a tripod for pictures, since 10.2 meg pixels are nice, but!! if you shake it even the slightest bit, say goodbye to sharpness.
It gets worse when taking video clips: One of the reasons why I bought this camera is that it claims you can zoom while taping, well, you can, but!!! no sound during zooming! And the zoom is so fast, it makes for a race car type take-off, no subtle zooming back and forth. Before you know it, you're all the way in or out. Not good at all. When I played back the first set of clips, I noticed that the sound track was finished playing back way before the images were, about 20 % faster. I called Samsung and they said my camera was defective. So, they suggested I have it repaired. When I told them I had not envisioned to buy a "new and already repaired" camera, they said that is the way it is, we do not replace flawed cameras, basically that I was unlucky to have gotten a bad apple. I could probably have waited and bought a refurbished one for less. Also, they expected me to pay for shipping in order to get it repaired. Not much of a customer friendly attitude, by my book.
Now, I am returning the little cam to Beach Camera, and they haggled with me over the situation: at first, they did not want to take it back, because I only called them after 5 weeks of the purchase. They let you return it up to 4 weeks only. When I told them that the product was flawed and malfunctioning according to Samsung, they finally agreed to take it back, but I had to haggle over the reduced reimbursement amount. They wanted to deduct 15%, I finally, after 3 conversations, got them to deduct 5 % of my purchasing price. I guess I'll return it for that and cut my losses. My conclusion is to stick with camera brands like Nikon, Canon, even Kodak, but no more Samsungs!

  5. I like the NV24HD my only compliant is the it features and abilities are difficult to learn and to remember. There's a lot to learn and a lot to read, I wish that it were more simple and easier to use in taking full advantage of its abilities.

5 comments about Olympus Stylus 1010 10.1MP Digital Camera with 7x Optical Dual Image Stabilized Zoom (Purple).
  1. Camera is great, would order again. Takes great pictures and has a ton of features.

  2. I purchased this one month ago to replace my canon sd200 of 3.2mps/ 3x zoom. I wanted the 7x zoom in a small point & shoot. When comparing, I prefered the color saturation (white balance) better in my Canon! I still like my little canon and think it takes some better shots! I took a lot of side by side shots and was even considering returning this new one! However this Olympus can do amazing things...the technology has come a long way. I do love the panoromic stitch mode, in camera editing, etc...however, I was VERY disapointed when I used the continuous shooting mode with the zoom. My pics were automatically shot in a lower resolution and they came out quite pixelated. (it was an important event)
Overall, now that I have had time to really play with the camera and work with the modes, I actually find it is a decent and fun camera for most people to enjoy. It does most of the thinking FOR you if you want it too! It is a lot of camera for a small price. I still don't always like the color tones vs my canon...but that's just my personal take.

  3. I bought the Stylus 1020 (same as the 1010 but with a better display screen) but quickly regretted it. This camera has a 10 megapixel image, but even when shots are saved at the "FINE" setting, the image quality is noticeably poorer than a 4-year-old Canon Powershot 6-megapixel camera. Comparing images from this and the Canon side by side, it's obvious that the Canon images are crisp and clear, while it looks like the Olympus images are shot through gauze or fog.

Yes, I did check to make sure the lens was unobstructed.... No luck there; it was clean as a whistle. I'm turning right around and taking this camera back. Please don't disappoint yourself. Get a Canon (or anything else that has better picture quality).

  4. For a long time I looked forward to owning a Stylus 1010. I'm sorry to say that I'm sadly disappointed. There are so many good reviews that I thought it was a sure thing. I wanted it mainly because it's small enough to fit in a purse and it's the only pocket camera I could find with a decent zoom (7x optical, equivalent to 37-260mm). Unfortunately, every time I have the lens completely extended I get a blurry picture.

I also get many grainy photos. In all but the most ideal light situations the pictures are grainy or blurry. Sometimes in full sunlight they are overexposed. This is mainly with it on automatic settings. I have played around with some of the multitude of other settings but have not been any more impressed. Sometimes supermacro will give you a cool shot that is clear but just as often it will give you a blurry shot. If your subject is moving at all with the macro settings then don't even waste time trying. That is pretty much true with every other setting except sports. And, I don't mean moving fast, I mean moving even slightly.

This was supposed to be an easy point and shoot camera that my fiance could also use but it's obvious that he will not be able to count on getting a good shot with it. Sometimes I think that my expectations were too high because I normally use a (semi) professional camera (Nikon D70S) but I do think a pocket camera should take at least 70% of the "normal" or "easy" pictures clearly. I've owned a pocket size Canon camera before and got much better results. The Olympus Stylus 1010 is a sad disappointment.

  5. So I bought this camera about a month ago, because I was looking for a replacement for my Stylus 310 (It seems so long ago...). I had read all the reviews, both positive and negative, and was - to be honest - a bit hesitant to invest. However, I've come to trust Olympus, and I know that often, a poor review can stem from limited knowledge of how to make the most out of a product.

Needless to say, I gave in, shelled out the $250, signed up for Amazon Prime (yes, the trial saved me about $11 in expedited shipping charges), and next thing I know: shiny new (silver) toy!

The camera is great. I've taken some really amazing super-macro photos (I call them my "study" on texture), the battery lasts seemingly forever, the optical zoom is impeccable, and I had no problem taking lengthy videos with a non-Olympus card, and the Shoot and Select modes have proven to be a veritable party starter.

I think this camera has reinstilled my passion for on-the-spot photo taking and seeing the world through a very large, bright, and clear lcd viewfinder. I say go for it!
