5 comments about Olympus C-3000 3.2MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom.
- Having been a veteran of the SLR scene, I waited a long time to buy a digital camera. I have now had my C-3000 for 3 years and it is still performing excellently. Only 3.3 megapxels? No problem. Unless you are printing poster sized pictures, who needs more? (unless you really want to get SLR quality, which I believe is now possible). True, this was expensive when I bought it (equivalent of $1,000), but the number of photos I have taken has saved me this in processing fees. It is easy to use and if you are daring enough has enough interesting advanced features. Once I figured out how to depress the button slightly for autofocusing etc, I could do panning shots.
The downside: Yes, the lens cap does tend to get lost, but my brother has a later version with string attached. The LCD panel gets scratched, but I have not noticed diminished monitor quality. Olympus tell you not to use it outside in cold weather because of condensation problems. Does this not apply to all electronics, or is it a problem with this camera?
I am shortly going to purchase a 128mb card, as they are now cheap. I can't find any limitations on card size, so I hope it is OK. The CAMEDIA software is OK, but the USB connection is a little sensitive. PICASA does not pick up this camera at all-it senses otyher digitals.
Overall, I think in its class this is a classic, just like the Olympus OM-1/10 was a classic SLR. If you can pick one up second-hand, do so. Just check that LCD screen.
- I've used my C3000 for years. While it's only 3.2MP, I momentarily relegated to a shoebox while a new 5MP Sony DSC-P93 took the limelight.
I ended up selling the Sony and going back to the Olympus, which takes outstanding shots indoors and out.
- This was my first digital camera and lucky me! The pictures are absolutely crystal clear! I bought mine "refurbished" and I still haven't had any problems with it and I've had it for 3 years now. The pictures taken in daylight are absolutely astonishing, I'm telling you. I think the only thing I regret is that it doesn't have a manual focus, but the autofocus is just so good, I really hardly ever miss it.
I took a photography class and used the Canon Digital Rebel as well as the Nikon D70 for shots for the class as well as this camera, and honest to god, every time I used my own camera people would ask "which camera did you use for that?!" they were so impressed when I'd tell them it was my own 3.2 megapixel one instead of the hearty 8mp thing. I'm sure if you're a professional photographer you might need all the doodads that the other cameras offer, but for me, the amateur, this is perfect.
Check out my pictures in the gallery!
- I had this Olympus for many years now and it's still working GREAT! After Olympus, I've owned PowerShot, Finepix (2 of them) and I have to say this C3000 is still my favorite! It's the only camera I know that allows zoom function while recording video.
- I have had this camera going on 6 years and it is still working strong and taking great picutres. Yes, there are newer cameras out there, but I still use this one. I replaced another brand digital camera in less than 6 months as it turned all pictures green with this model and no problems since. I got an all in 1 printer last year and my pictures download nicely to my computer with the HP printer software with no problems and I can also download family's newer pictures too (other olypmus cameras.)

5 comments about Olympus E-10 4MP Digital Camera w/ 4x Optical Zoom.
- I've been a serious hobbyist photographer for more than 25 years and this is my sixth digital camera. After looking for more than a few months I settled on the Olympus E-10 for its high quality photographs. There are other cameras with more mega-pixels and more powerful zoom lens but few if any of those will come close to the quality that this camera produces.
There are manual controls for everything and that big lens just sucks in the light for great low light pictures. The beam splitter view finder is sweet and the manual zoom allows for working the 4x zoom quickly. I bought the matching F-40 flash unit which integrates with the camera to expose flash pictures very well. The flash also follows the zoom lens shifting from wide-angle to telephoto as the lens is worked. This is a big solid camera that is not for causal snap shots - though when set to the "program" mode it can do that. Where this camera will excel is in the hands of someone who can put that big piece of glass, well matched sensor, and manual abilities to work.
- The camera has many nice points. These have been covered in other people's reviews. I will mention the few items that I think are less good:
- It is not very good at focusing, especially in less light environment. I had the Olumpus people look at it but they said there was nothing wrong with it. - It is terribly heavy. - It is slow to start up. Dispite the recomendations from Olympus to not use the Microdrive, I have found a somewhat safe way to copy the pictures from the Smartmedia card to the Microdive. In this way, I can take several hundreds of pictures without needing to upload to a computer. My next camera will be a Minolta - also with a Microdrive function.
- this is the only slr DIGITAL camera, I've had a slr film camera for a few years and could never go back to a point and click camera ever, and i bought a few digital camera before this one but they weren's slr style and the pictures never impressed me at all, basically i dont have much to compare this camera to digital slr wise, but i am VERY happy with the image quality and everything else about the camera
- I bought my refurbished E-10 online from Olympus. It has functioned perfectly. The cost was 1/3 of the price they charged when the E-10 was first introduced. Since then, the price has continued to decrease as the competition has added megapixels and professionals have moved to DSLR bodies. This makes the E-10 a bargin for the weekend photographer. The camera is built like a brick - but a wonderfully ergonomic brick! The optics are fast and sharp and Olympus are famous for their image quality - even if it is "only" 4 MP. The camera is supported by a full range of accessories readily available on Amazon (or eBay) including wide angle and telephoto supplementary lens, cable release, flash, etc. A total system will cost less than the body of a new DSLR. More important, this is (well was) a professional camera, built for professionals with an imposing presence and total control over the image. If you think you need those extra pixels ask how many 8 x 10 enlargements you made last year. If the answer is less than 10 then this could be the perfect digital camera for you - and at a realistic price.
- I have used the Olympus E-10 continually since 2001. I had owned three previous digital cameras by Olympus but the E-10 was the first model that completely satisfied me. I take photographs for business (technical publishing) and pleasure and mostly use my images in digital form, although I have made satisfying prints up to 16 x 20 inches. I find this camera easy and enjoyable to use and the image quality exceptional. Although newer Olympus high end models have more megapixels and interchangeable lenses, I have not envied them enough to upgrade.
Like all high end digital cameras, the E-10 has a host of features that can be a little intimidating to learn. I felt the E-10 was worthy of the effort and I was inspired to design a publication to help other amateurs master the use of this camera. My E-10s are a continual source of enjoyment and I hope others will make the effort to master its use.

5 comments about Canon Powershot SD500 7.1MP Digital Elph Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
- I brought this camera from Amazon after reading the good reviews about this camera in a lot of sites. Amazon shipped it before time. I am not a professional photographer so I can't provide technical details. I am very satisfied with this camera. However would have loved more optical zoom on this camera. Would always recommend Amazon!!
- I've owned for approx 1 year with zero problems, zero complaints. Works as advertised. great little compact camera!
- Purchased as a gift and haven't heard anything bad about it since given to daughter.
- Canon makes great cameras. I especially like the SD line. Most people who use my camera end up buying one of their own. It has the DigicII Chip, 2inch LCD, light weight, and easily fit in you pocket. You don't need 7.1MP unless you heavily crop your pictures. 5MP is more than enough to print a 20x30inch poster. It takes good MPEG movies too. I use a 2GB SD Card and Never run out of space on vacation.
- I purchased this camera in late June 2005 in hopes of having it to replace my Canon SD30 (3MP, first digital camera) on a trip to Switzerland. Well, the camera didn't arrive in time, but I wish it did. The camera was the best I'd ever used and I was awed by all the new features. I irritated everyone at work constantly taking photos using the color swap and color accents. This is the greatest feature I've seen and my only regret is going through my pictures over the years and not using those features enough.
I immediately put a screen protector on the LCD, so I didn't have any problems there. Unfortunately during a day of puppy kindergarten, I forgot about the keys and change in my pocket and slipped my brand new camera in with them. After the initial shock, I saw the tiny scratches as "war scars" and soon disregarded it.
Start-up time was amazing. I was always ready to shoot upon pressing the power button. I was even able to put my own personal picture on the startup screen so I wouldn't have to look at the generic "birdy" or "Powershot" name. I am sure I could have put my own startup music on there also, but I never took the time to try it. I did it for my Canon SD30, though, so I'm sure it was possible.
My other regrets in picture taking was not taking the highest setting possible. I don't render my pictures immediately, so sometimes months later when I'm editing Christmas pics, I'll see a nice photo that could have been blown up and sent to my family.
The best thing I loved about this camera was its battery life. I can probably count on my hands the number of times I had to recharge the battery. I NEVER lost battery life during a trip or photo event, although most of my trips were 2-4 day weekends. Still, this camera handled any type of pressure I threw its way. I hope my upgrade to the Canon SD950 does all of the SD500's capabilities and more.
So why am I upgrading? Well, I love photography, even though I rarely have the time to really do it as a bonified hobby. I also love gadgets and upgrade electronics. I'm going to finally start taking great photos and the Canon SD950 will take me there! But in no way is it because the SD500 was lacking for anything.

5 comments about Polaroid PDC-5080 / 5.1 Megapixel / 4x Digital Zoom / 1.5" LCD Monitor / Digital Camera.
- I recieved this camera for by last birthday and wished that I had returned it! First off, the camera came with absolutely NO instructions. I have some knowledge of cameras so I messed with all the functions but instructions would have been helpful! Secondly, to this date, I only have been able to have it take one decent picture--which I totally had to photoshop & turn into black & white. All my other pictures have turned out blurry or too dark. Thirdly, the LCD screen SUCKS! It is slow, grainy and totally blurry so it is hard to focus on whatever you are taking a picture of. For a long time I thought that it was just me having so many problems but after reading all the reviews, I am obviously not he only one! One thing that is positive is that the software is easy to use and the pictures upload quickly but what is the point if you can get a good picture!!! I got so fed up with this camera that I had to have my sister take pictures with her Sony digital camera for all of our family get togethers or use my video camera! I am getting a Kodak that is $200.00+ for my birthday this year and am hoping that it is a better experience! Anyway, my advice to anyone thinking about this camera--SKIP IT!
- We got this camera for a very low price, but never have I stayed so bitter about a purchase for so long. Photos without flash are invariably blurry, photos with flash or outdoors are ridiculously overexposed, and sometimes still blurry! Even the simplest photos in ideal conditions come out horribly. I have bought and used several different cheap/lower end digital cameras, but this is the most horrible product I have ever laid hands on. If anyone knows how to file an official complaint with Polaroid (that they'll pay attention to), let me know. I should never have opened that packaging.
- This was my first digital camera -it was bought in kind of a hurry because I wanted to get one before I went on a trip. IT'S HORRIBLE! I guess it's sufficient if you really just want a camera, but besides that, it's just bad. The flash is the main problem. Without the flash you have to be in perfect light to get a decent picture (meaning in order to see anything) and with the flash you have to be at the perfect distance (in order to see any faces). Most of my pictures taken with this camera are either too dark to see anything or extremely bright so everyone/ everything is washed out. I went to a banquet at a hotel and out of about 20 pictures, maybe 5 look good -I finally just gave up: it was ruining the banquet for me because I was constantly fiddling with this, trying to get decent pictures. I took it to prom and even with the flash, all the pictures in the limo and inside the actual prom are pitch black. Also, at the after-prom event, where there was florescent lighting, the backgrounds are all dark and most faces are either washed out or really dark. I've tried everything -fiddling around with all the settings and different lightings -like I said, you pretty much have to be in perfect conditions.
The second main problem is that it takes FOREVER to take pictures. From the time you take the picture to the time it actually shows up on the screen and you can take another one is easily almost 10 seconds (at least more than 5 sec). Because I bought it from Target, opening the package rendered it unreturnable, plus it is better than no camera at all. My camera phone literally takes pictures as good if not better than this camera. What was good about this camera? It was cheap (even though its still not even worth what it costs) and it taught me, you truly get what you pay for. I'm finally getting a new camera -I decided to go ahead and shell out some cash this time -hopefully it will turn out better. So to sum it up:
1. Horrible flash -needs the perfect conditions to take decent pics
2. Takes forever to take pictures
3. You're better off with a camera phone
I really expected more from such a big, well-known company, despite the price. Hopefully you won't make the same mistake I did. Pretty much thanks to this camera, I have hardly any pics of some the most important times of my life (graduation, prom, and my last school banquet).
- I bought this camera because it was cheaper and thought that a company such as Polaroid would put out a decent camera. Nope. As everyone has stated the picture quality is HORRIBLE. Unless you have the perfect light then don't bother taking the picture. The flash (like stated) washes out faces or it's dark. The time between flash and actual picture is crazy. I have bought brand new batteries only for it to shut off 30 seconds later. The settings reset with every picture. It's a horrible, horrible camera. I have lost many photos with this camera and would do better with a disposable. Do not waste your money.
- I purchased this camera 'on sale' as I didn't have previous experience with a digital and didn't want to spend a lot of money. Wish I had spent the extra money as I will now be doing so anyway. The picture quality is not very good. Even using a flash indoors when the lighting is not 'perfect' the quality of the photos is bad. The best pictures you can take with this camera are outdoors in the daylight, and don't think of using at night -- even with the flash, pictures don't show. When using a flash indoors, don't get very close -- they come out way too bright; however, without you can't even see one's face! Just don't buy a Polaroid, look for another make.

5 comments about Fujifilm Finepix Z10fd 7.2MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Sunset Orange).
- I love this camera, it has great picture quality and it's user friendly. All of the pictures I take are very crisp and clear and it's perfect for any time of day, any light inside and outside. I absoultly would not trade this camera in for the world and I think if you're making the decision wether to buy this or not that you have found the perfect camera for you and you should go ahead and buy it, you won't be disappointed. And I'm not an easy sell either.
- I bought this camera primarily because of its compact size. It is one of the smallest good quality cameras on the market. Obviously it can't compete with a Nikon D series or Canon Rebel, but if you read the manual and learn the right settings, it takes great quality photos for a point and shoot. It has a rechargable lithium battery with long life, which is important because there is no viewfinder and all sighting is done on the large LCD screen. The controls and menu are easy to manage. For my first digital Fuji, I am impressed. The price has gone up since I bought it, but at the $117 I paid, I thought I got a great deal.
- Hands down, one of the best cameras on the market. I use it almost everyday.
Great for just pictures with friends or family, or semi-professional photos.
- We purchased three of these cameras for our children (well young adults) all in different colors. The first thing to grab my attention was the ease of use the second was the quality of the picture this camera was producing. My Husband and I purchased a Sanyo several months prior to buying these and we were happy with it until we saw the quality of the pictures of this camera. One of the features I like the best is the slide on the front turns the camera on and off, in addition to that it protects the lens. Now if they could design a camera to protect both the LCD and the Lens that would be perfect. I really like this camera.
- I took more than 1000 pictures and many movies and upload Youtube. It is very good and I love this camera.

5 comments about Samsung Digimax L60 6.0 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Black).
- One of the things that other reviewers left out is how great a camcorder this is. Ok, I know it is a camera, but in video mode it will shoot a high quality video for about one and one half hours with a 2 Gb card. It uses Sd cards, very cheap (I paid $19 for mine on sale at Best Buy). It has an image stabilizer built in but you still have to hold it steady, a tripod is best. When I show friends video they cannot believe it is from a camera. Mpeg4 640X480 at 30 frames per second. The really cool thing is you can zoom while video recording. Most cameras do not allow this. It is only 3 times optical but I have had good results filming little league baseball.
As a camera, it is fair. Good prints but long shutter lag. You can put it on program rather than auto and then force the flash to always go off. You get better pictures inside and out. The backlight function works very well as another reviewer mentioned.
It is small so I carry it everywhere and makes a great second camera.
- due to my being lazy i'm just now writing a review! i've had my camera since august of '06 and absolutely LOVE it! My pictures are crisp/clear, camera's compact enough to fit in my little purse and it goes everywhere with me! my only issue is that I paid $189 +tax and as u can see it's a lot cheaper now! Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!
- Camera has good features, is compact, battery lasts a long time, big LCD screen to pre-view your shot and it's priced right!
- I purchased this camera as a gift for my son a year ago. He has had little occasion to use it. He estimates it's been used 4 times. Now as he attempts to use it over the holidays, the shutter won't open and the lens won't come forward as the camera is turned on. It is two weeks out of the manufacturer warranty. Of course, neither Amazon or Samsung wish to accept responsibility now that it's out of warranty. They wish me to pay more to have a camera repaired that's had very limited use. I certainly don't wish to purchase any more Samsung products and must admit I'm very disappointed with Amazon's response, considering how many items I've purchased through them.
- Once you take the picture the is camera incredibly slow and delayed in actually taking the picture. Unless you have a very patient target many times you will lose the moment or end up with a moving target due to this long delay. So slow I would never recommend this camera. Many times I end up taking moveis vs. pictures too, in error. I am absolutely NOT a professional, but do have common sense and it tells me this camera is no good for an average user. I purchased based on the positive reviews, but have to 100% disagree.
