  1. This is a great little camera. Great photos and my wife carries it in her purse every day. No missed photo ops!

  2. easy to use with a variety of setting to best capture a sunset or other scenes.
    cute unit.
would have preferred more optical zoom but could not find in a camera at this price range.
    thanks nikon

  3. This is the second Coolpix I have gotten. It is by far, the easiest point and shoot camera I have gotten. And with the 8.0MP, it takes really good quality pics.

  4. I hate taking pictures and I always have to learn any new electronic device that we buy. This camera was for my wife and she easily understood everything she needed to take some great pictures. It really is a great little camera.

  5. 3 weeks old and the lens jammed. "customer support claimed misuse. I have contacted support several times but no replies

4 comments about Kodak EasyShare Z1015IS 10MP Digital Camera with 15x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.
  1. Consumer Reports camera ratings have recently improved as they now match my first hand experience. Several commercial sites are not telling the truth either as the Fuji f50fd received very high ratings but smeared close-up detail of pine trees. Terrible PQ. Now Consumer Reports finally gives the f50fd camera the low rating its always deserved. The same goes for the new Fuji S2000fd - still way too much noise, though I do like the feel of the body.
Actually all these smaller cameras (with their tiny sensors) have visible noise which CR takes pains to list for every point-in-shoot!
The Z1015IS has less than the older Z1012IS. The muted colors of the Z1012 are gone in the Z1015. The blues may be a bit too saturated (update: the camera was probably on High-color). Very naturally sharp with a bit of purple fringing with bright store lights off the central lens axis. No issues otherwise with color fringing. Nice pictures! Menu system is easy to figure out.
A rechargable lithium battery is now included. Kodak Easy Share software is designed for first graders. At least the RAW images can be saved to 8bit TIF format for Noise Ninja cleanup to make the PQ from the best superzoom camera even better. (Well there is no batch processing so a simple task becomes difficult.) The 28mm wide angle is most welcome.
Lastly its nice to see an American company effectively compete with the competition. Good show Kodak.
    Update:
Consumer Reports just rated the Z1012IS as the best non-DSLR camera, which is why took the time to test it.
Because of the local 15% restocking fee (you know where) I took a Scandisk 4GB SDHC card into the store and shot there for the Z1015 and the Fuji 2000. Both cameras show a strong superficial resemblance.
I bought the Z1012 and also compared it to the Nikon D300. I set them both to ISO 100 and ISO64 (Kodak). At ISO 64 the 1012 exhibited excellent fidelity with low noise. Nice.
The $1800 D300 had improvements in fidelity and tonality in showing the fine texture and detail of surfaces. Images have more "pop" and life.

Vista's columns and and IEXIF 2 viewer shows the:
Fuji S2000HD noisy pictures shot at 1/60 sec, f/4.8 and ISO 125-400, quality set to Fine
    Kodak Z1012IS - f/2.8-f/4.8 ISO 64-400. 1/30-1/100 sec
ISO64 shot on tripod for optimal clarity
Kodak Z1015IS - lost capture info with RAW conversion to TIF. Uninstalled Easy Share hoping for some better RAW software!
Will buy Z1015 when it goes on-sale at Amazon.

Update2: Received the Z1015 and have analyzed three days of pictures.
    Recommendations:
Casual users should make exclusive use of the Smart Capture mode as it will properly expose pictures. Pictures are almost always in focus too. Its that simple if you want it to be! This is why my wife says the Creative Memories ladies like the Kodak Easy share. Add in the advanced controls and its a camera for everyone.

For advanced users the good-lighting strategy is to take Aperture controlled RAW then quickly switch the top Mode dial over to the red color/Smart Capture/Perfect Touch setting. Between the two pictures you will get the best picture 99% of the time. In RAW mode set the sharpness to low and use noise reduction and unsharp mask on the TIF images with computer based processing, as the normal sharpness is a bit grainy. The improvement is worth the effort. Indoors use the Smart Capture mode as the Kodak technology does pick the best compromise. I use IrfanView software with 420 plugin for RAW batch .KDC to .TIF conversion.
Lastly Noise Ninja allows for quantitative noise analysis and direct comparison between different camera sensors. (But watch out for unadvertised manufacture noise reduction which decreases detail). Bigger sensors are better as the Kodak Z1015IS at ISO 80 has as much noise as the Nikon D300 at ISO640!
The situation is complicated by the the TI/Kodak image processing chip skewing of the Z1015 noise readings. The ISO 100 and 200 noise measures lower than ISO 80. You see evidence of this unadvertised image processing at work in the low-gain and high-gain being set in the EXIF data.
Telephoto (420mm) image quality degrades a bit. Best to use a tripod and low ISO settings here.

Background: The KODAK Color Science image processing chip was first introduced in cameras in 2006. This Perfect Touch technology results in fewer dark shadows and increased detail. (Since then many other post processing programs mimic Kodak's leadership. Most of the major name camera manufactures quietly pay Kodak royalties.)
Significantly this technology was not available with the P880, Kodak's last enthusiast camera. This camera was twice the Z1015 price too. So we have a bargain priced, intuitive and fun to use camera.

  2. This camera seems to be end all, nicest Z series camera produced, and Kodak is flaunting very fast capture speeds. They do however leave out a detail that will surely convince you, as it has me, to return your Z1015: For every 4 to 5 pictures you take in smart-scene, there is a 20-50 second pause for the Kodak Perfect Touch post-processing...let me repeat that, you take 4-5 pictures and then the camera locks up completely for a half minute (using RAW files), up to almost a full minute if you're using jpg compression. Call Kodak about it and they'll tell you that this long delay is "normal," that a firmware upgrade is coming, and that you should "return your camera for repair." This camera is a disaster and Kodak needs to pump out a major Firmware upgrade eliminating the post-processing. I was a fan of the Z series, having owned a Z612, and Z712, and recommended the Z812 to my mother as an easy to use, point-and-shoot camera. They are all excellent, fast cameras. The Z1015 is a major, substantial downgrade. It's no longer fast, in fact it is downright SLOW, thus making it a loser in the point and shoot field.

Update: I should have mentioned that when using the PASM manual settings, you can skip the post-processing freeze. Only Automatic and all scene setting modes (everything that makes the camera point-and-shoot), are affected by the processing lock-up.

  3. The camera can produce top notch images in RAW, with exquisite detail. Jpeg images are fine also, although RAW is superior because of uncompressed files. Either way the images are full-colored (no-one does color like Kodak), clear, dynamic and detailed. I haven't tried the video functions.

The RAW capability is the great strength of the camera and also a source of some weakness. DO NOT USE THE AUTO MODE (or SCENE MODE)if you intend to take several shots in rapid succession. In these modes the camera takes an inordinate amount of time to process the shots. The camera takes time to apply Kodak's Perfect Touch editing to the shots. It is not defeatable in Auto and Scene modes. I use the P mode. Perfect Touch is not applied here. In P mode the camera takes a bit longer with RAW than it does with jpeg in writing to the card.

Another drawback to RAW is that few programs read the Kodak RAW files from the Z1015IS. Kodak's own Easyshare software that comes with the camera does. Personally I don't like the software--too basic and clumsy for my taste. Irfanview, a free editing program, does read and edit Kodak Z1015IS RAW files and allows you to save in lossless TIF or BMP, along with jpeg and other types. My hope is that Adobe and others will soon add this camera to their list of readable RAW files.

I already had a 12 times optical zoom camera (the Z1012, a fine camera itself), so the 15 times zoom was not a big attraction for me--the RAW was and it has proved to be a real winner in image quality. Anyway, the 15 times zoom works as intended. There is occasionally a bit of purple fringing, but it is not noticeable on normal-sized prints (up to 8.5x11). Macro focusing distance is moderate.

Ease of use is excellent. The buttons are well located and handy to manipulate. You can change exposure, flash compensation and other functions quickly and easily. The grip is very convenient. It has a viewfinder and the LCD is large and of very good quality. With moderate flash and LCD use I got about 300 shots off the provided rechargeable battery. The battery recharges in the camera via the provided external power connection--reasonably quick and handy.

In summary, the camera does what I want and does it beautifully--produce first-rate photos. I have posted a large number of large-sized photos at http://www.pbase.com/tgaf/kodak_z1015is. Feel free to visit there to see what the camera is capable of. It is easy to use, reasonably-priced and produces first-rate photos. I heartily recommend it.

  4. I recently purchased the Z1015 IS mostly for it's HD video and mega zoom features and I'm pleased with the results. The zoom feature is available while in the video mode which was what I was looking for. The sound is recorded in stereo and is good although it's compressed. Kodak using .MOV (QuickTime codec). The 720p widescreen video is quite impressive and you can film up to 29 minutes, if you have the memory. I find making videos with digital cameras convenient and easier than using a camcorder.
The picture quality is excellent too and the smart capture mode works well. It is true that there is a delay in processing the photos as another reviewer mentioned but this is not a problem for me. There may be a firmware upgrade for this in the near future. You can avoid this by using the program mode according to another reviewer.
The Z1015 IS may be a better value then the lower model Z1012 IS as the Z1015 IS comes with a rechargeable battery and charger. The Z1012 does not. Also the Z1015 has a 3 inch screen compared to 2.5 inch screen for the Z1012. Lastly, the zoom is 15x compared to 12x for the lesser model.
I purchased the Easyshare camera dock which works well with this camera and is very convenient as it's always connected to my computer. It also works as a charger too.
One minor complaint. The screen could be of higher resolution like I've seen on the Panasonic models but that's about it. For the price, this is an excellent camera.

  1. The Olympus Stylus 850SW is a great camera, plain and simple. It really is waterproof and you really can take pictures underwater. We just took some excellent pictures in the Caribbean and the camera worked great both in the water and out. There are even a couple of underwater shooting modes. The pictures look great and you have a lot of options regarding image quality and file size. It's is easy to use in the regular program mode and the special modes are all relatively simple to use as well. Overall, I would confidently recommend this product.

  2. This camera does not have a view finder and its screen does not have a non-glare surface. When you try and take pictures in bright sun light all you see is your own reflection. It's impossible to frame a picture. This sure doesn't make any sense for a product that's waterproof and obviously meant to be used outdoors. Very poor design.

  3. I owned an olympus camera before and switched to sony for some unknown reason. I bought this camera for my son it takes better pictures then my sony top of the line point and shoot. I am amazed by how durable it is and what quality pictures it take in any light and in any weather. We recently took this on vacation with us to an amuzement park and i didn't have to worry about it getting wet on some of the water rides. I must admit it felt weird. Movies on the water rides were unbelievable got the full effect of splash and all. Great Camera i Highly recommend it.

  4. We just returned from a trip to Saint Lucia. We took well over 600 pictures, many many pictures of fish. I loved that you could take it in the salt water with you and then wash it in the sink with soap and water. The one day I did not take it in the water I saw an Octopus and a Lobster so I never went in the water with out it again. It spent hours and hours in the salt water and then I used it for sunsets and other pictures. I kept it at 5M as I did not want the pictures to be large file size; however the files size was similar to my Sony at 3M pixel so I think it is best to leave it set at 8M pixels. I was extremely pleased with most pictures. I had blur on about 50 pictures. But ouuta 600 that is not bad. Most of those were in the water or on a boat. Below is a link for 150 of my favorite pics from our trip.
The camera price has dropped alot in the month since i bought it.

  1. We bought this camera before our trip to Belize. On the first day we were already in love with it. It was the perfect camera to take to the beach and on snorkeling trips. We got so many more pictures on this trip since this camera could go everywhere with us. Absolutely love this camera.

I also bought the underwater housing (Olympus PT041) for my scuba trips.

  2. I love love this camera. Amazing photos above and below water. so much fun to use and have.

  3. It worked great. Then it stopped working. I sent it in to Olympus for repair, they fixed it no questions asked, and returned in 2 weeks. Just a receipt from Target was needed. They even replaced screen because of scratch that wasn't under warranty.

  4. I purchased the Olympus 850SW on 8-25-08 for my trip to Sea World. I was impressed how easy this camera is to operate. This is one of the best camera I have ever had. The pictures come out very sharp and clean. I just the anti-shake option for all my pics, and everything came out clear. Shamu came out very clear as he was jumping thru the air. I love the large viewer display it was easy to see what I was taking a picture of. Even in bright light!!!!I love the fact it shock proof, water proof. so you don't have to worry about any of that kind of stuff. Even tranfering the pictures from the camera to my pc was a breeze. I highly recommend getting this camera you will not be dissappointed.

  5. I bought this camera on August 30, 2008. I bought it from [...] with the 2GB memory card only because I could use my Best Buy credit card for the purchase. The entire reason I wanted this new camera was my old camera was 8 years old (Also an Olympus) and it was just time for a new one. I wanted it in September because I would be going to a few New Kids on the Block concerts (Don't knock 20 year love!) and really wanted a good camera I could take to the shows to take photos and video.

I received the camera on September 4, 2008. The color is BEAUTIFUL. The camera was so light. It was fantastic. So I took the battery out and I took the camera out and I went to put the battery in.

Mind you, I did not look at the directions because who really needs to look at the directions to put in a battery!?

So I try to put the battery in, it wouldn't fit. So I turn it around. Still won't fit. So I turn it another way and the battery slides right in.

I close the door, but the battery door won't close. Hrm. maybe I put the battery in wrong? Wait? Why won't the battery come out!?

I get out the directions and lo and behold there's a big X indicating how NOT to put the battery in and a little note that says "If you put the battery in the wrong way, you will not be able to get it out".

I had my camera for 5 minutes and I had to send it immediately to the shop to get it fixed. I had to spend my own money to ship it UPS (about $10) on September 5th but fortunately it was covered under warranty and I got it back on September 17th.

Maybe I am the only person out there who would figure that if a battery slides in easily, it means it's the right way... and figures that batteries won't fit in the wrong way. But I think the fact that, if you put a battery in WRONG and it won't come back out unless you send it to the shop, is absolutely ridiculous.

Aside from that, I have had no issues with the camera. Except the battery does say it's low when it's really nowhere near being low.

Basically, I'm just giving you a fair warning that if you're an idiot like me, make sure you put the battery in the right way :)

5 comments about Canon PowerShot A720IS 8MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.
  1. This is the first top notch camera I have ever purchased. IT is easy to use and easy to read the instructions. My purchase through Amazon was very easy and quick, plus the cost was the best. It took 4 days to get my camera and then I was sooo excited. I took it to Yosemite this weekend and took over 400 pictures. I think the screen is very easy to see. And I have rechargeable batteries, which last about 100 pictures. I also purchased a SDHC 4MB memory card which will hold over 1700 pictures. I would buy this camera again. I am very happy!!!

  2. Every time I learn more about this camera. I have several other Canon digital and regualr cameras and I'm a true fan of Canon cameras.

  3. I always research before I buy. Suggested retail price for this cam is $199.99 according to the Canon website.

  4. I recently bough this camera as an upgrade for my Canon A620. It is pretty much the same camera, except is has better specs and new features such as the image stabilizer. One of the selling points for me on this camera was the 6x optical zoom, which is a rarity in the point-and-shoot cameras. It is usually 3x. The only features that are present in my older Canon that I wish this one had is the Color Accent/Color Swap feature and I also wish there wasn't such a long delay between shots when using the flash.

  5. I'm no camera whiz. This camera worked great for me on a recent vacation. It does the smart stuff autamatically (facial recognition, image stabilization) and the viewfinder is a blessing in bright sunlight.

5 comments about Olympus Stylus 1010 10.1MP Digital Camera with 7x Optical Dual Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver).
  1. Camera is great, would order again. Takes great pictures and has a ton of features.

  2. I purchased this one month ago to replace my canon sd200 of 3.2mps/ 3x zoom. I wanted the 7x zoom in a small point & shoot. When comparing, I prefered the color saturation (white balance) better in my Canon! I still like my little canon and think it takes some better shots! I took a lot of side by side shots and was even considering returning this new one! However this Olympus can do amazing things...the technology has come a long way. I do love the panoromic stitch mode, in camera editing, etc...however, I was VERY disapointed when I used the continuous shooting mode with the zoom. My pics were automatically shot in a lower resolution and they came out quite pixelated. (it was an important event)
Overall, now that I have had time to really play with the camera and work with the modes, I actually find it is a decent and fun camera for most people to enjoy. It does most of the thinking FOR you if you want it too! It is a lot of camera for a small price. I still don't always like the color tones vs my canon...but that's just my personal take.

  3. I bought the Stylus 1020 (same as the 1010 but with a better display screen) but quickly regretted it. This camera has a 10 megapixel image, but even when shots are saved at the "FINE" setting, the image quality is noticeably poorer than a 4-year-old Canon Powershot 6-megapixel camera. Comparing images from this and the Canon side by side, it's obvious that the Canon images are crisp and clear, while it looks like the Olympus images are shot through gauze or fog.

Yes, I did check to make sure the lens was unobstructed.... No luck there; it was clean as a whistle. I'm turning right around and taking this camera back. Please don't disappoint yourself. Get a Canon (or anything else that has better picture quality).

  4. For a long time I looked forward to owning a Stylus 1010. I'm sorry to say that I'm sadly disappointed. There are so many good reviews that I thought it was a sure thing. I wanted it mainly because it's small enough to fit in a purse and it's the only pocket camera I could find with a decent zoom (7x optical, equivalent to 37-260mm). Unfortunately, every time I have the lens completely extended I get a blurry picture.

I also get many grainy photos. In all but the most ideal light situations the pictures are grainy or blurry. Sometimes in full sunlight they are overexposed. This is mainly with it on automatic settings. I have played around with some of the multitude of other settings but have not been any more impressed. Sometimes supermacro will give you a cool shot that is clear but just as often it will give you a blurry shot. If your subject is moving at all with the macro settings then don't even waste time trying. That is pretty much true with every other setting except sports. And, I don't mean moving fast, I mean moving even slightly.

This was supposed to be an easy point and shoot camera that my fiance could also use but it's obvious that he will not be able to count on getting a good shot with it. Sometimes I think that my expectations were too high because I normally use a (semi) professional camera (Nikon D70S) but I do think a pocket camera should take at least 70% of the "normal" or "easy" pictures clearly. I've owned a pocket size Canon camera before and got much better results. The Olympus Stylus 1010 is a sad disappointment.

  5. So I bought this camera about a month ago, because I was looking for a replacement for my Stylus 310 (It seems so long ago...). I had read all the reviews, both positive and negative, and was - to be honest - a bit hesitant to invest. However, I've come to trust Olympus, and I know that often, a poor review can stem from limited knowledge of how to make the most out of a product.

Needless to say, I gave in, shelled out the $250, signed up for Amazon Prime (yes, the trial saved me about $11 in expedited shipping charges), and next thing I know: shiny new (silver) toy!

The camera is great. I've taken some really amazing super-macro photos (I call them my "study" on texture), the battery lasts seemingly forever, the optical zoom is impeccable, and I had no problem taking lengthy videos with a non-Olympus card, and the Shoot and Select modes have proven to be a veritable party starter.

I think this camera has reinstilled my passion for on-the-spot photo taking and seeing the world through a very large, bright, and clear lcd viewfinder. I say go for it!

2 comments about Sony LCS-THM/B Genuine Leather Soft Carrying Case for Sony T300, T70, and T2 Digital Cameras (Black).
  1. I just received this case today. The overall quality is acceptable. It compliment and fits my T300 perfectly . I gave it a 4 stars rating because it feels more like a hard case and a little too bulky .

  2. The sony site doesn't show this as compatible with the T500 (or pretty much any other case), but it fits perfectly. I was worried since the T500 specs show it as slightly larger than the T300, but rest assured, it fits like a glove. As noted in the other review, it is a hard case, which I actually prefer for it's added protection. It is a bit bulky as well so this will not be friendly to tight pockets. The quality is top notch however.

Buy here rather than a fake one off ebay. Same with memory sticks - a large percentage of ebay memory sticks are fake.

5 comments about Fujifilm Finepix F50fd 12MP Digital Camera with 3 x Optical Image Stabilization.
  1. Pros: 12 MP is great for zooming and zooming and not losing clarity. It is small and easy to use. Video with sound is very clear.
Cons: the display is the only viewfinder, difficult to see if you got the shot during bright sunlight.
Overall a great little 12 mp camera. I really enjoy it. I would highly recommend it to anyone beginner or advanced. The best image stabilization product I have used so far.

  2. So far we are pleased with the camera. We had to get a ndw memory card for it, but now it is working fine.

  3. I bought this camera because some older hands at photography were raving about it. I am in my late 50's and these guys are late 60's and still shooting a lot. Duh - I actually paid $30 more from a NYC camera shop than what Amazon is selling this gem for.

What I like are is the idea that I CAN go to 12 megapixels for a shot if I want to. Normally I capture at 6 megapixels on it.

I really like the pocket-size of the camera.

But my favorite feature is "the magic f button" to set the camera to emulate Fuji color film tones.

This is truly a pocket camera - so think about buying a hard shell case to loop around your belt as an accessory. Also look for buys in 2GB SD cards.
I use them instead of the xD cards.

I currently shoot with my Leica D Lux 3 (wunderbar but anemic flash), a Canon G7 for live theatre shots and now the Fuji for quick grab shots. I also intend to carry the Fuji in my bike bag in it's little hard shell case.

I am very happy with the Finepix f50 fd!

  4. I was recently on a vacation in St. John USVI and was shooting with a Nikon D70 which was good for landscape and setup pictures.
It was not, however, suited for spontaneous group pictures, lowel-level light situations, and couldn't make movies. My son had a Fuji Finepix F50fdFujifilm Finepix F50fd 12MP Digital Camera with 3 x Optical Image Stabilization that shot fantastic pictures in all these formats.
When I got home I bought one and can't believe the capability from such a small camera. This week I took it to a baseball game and, sitting in the top tier, I shot a movie segment that was very good, sound and all. The 2.7 inch window is very sharp, even in bright sunlight -- much better than my Nikon.
It also produces very high resolution pictures that can be easily edited to produce sharp prints up to 8x10 inches. I take it everywhere just to try every occasion. It has all the built-in scenes that you can set for the type of picture you're taking, like most cameras but, in addition, it has two "N" settings, one that takes two pictures of the same shot -- one with flash and the other without flash so you can select either, or both shots.
The other "N" setting flattens a low-light scene without flash that normally could not be taken without producing that flash burst in the picture. In this mode the lighting from the camera produces a consistent level of light across the entire scene.
Another pleasant experience is the user guide. It is excellent! I wrote computer technical manuals for years and can tell you that it couldn't be better.
That's it! I'm still learning to use all the capabilities of this great camera.
    jes

  5. I received this camera in the mail today (fantastic quick shipping BTW) and immediately charged and use it.

The Fujufilm Finepix F50fd takes excellent pictures. Focus, image detail, color depth/accuracy, and egonomics are excellent.

HOWEVER, whoever decided on the battery and charging method for this camera hasn't ever actually used a personal digital camera. The battery is sorely small for this camera and doesn't last more than 100 or so pictures at max detail. When compared to the F10 which would take around 500 pictures, one is disappointed.

Additionally, you cannot charge the battery in the camera. You must carry around a separate, small (easily misplaced) charger or ignore the battery and plug the camera in when downloading pictures.

  1. I bought one of these while on vacation, and thus I did not have time to perform my usual research. After 3 weeks, 1000 pictures, and an email exchange with Sony tech support, I returned it. I was glad to pay the $60 restocking fee.

The camera was not defective. The images of this 10 Megapixel camera simply have the detail of a 5 Megapixel camera because the camera is designed to automatically perform digital contrast and color enhancement. This is my conclusion after owning one, after reading every review I could find on the internet, and after owning two of the predecessors to this camera including the very first model - the DSC-T1.

This detail destroying "enhancement" makes the photos look prettier - until you enlarge them.

I was really looking forward to zooming in on one of my photos of ancient Native American rock art that I could not have captured with less than 5X zoom and 10 Megapixels. When I got home and enlarged the image to full size, I looked at the adequately enlarged space where the thin and faint lines of the rock drawings should have been.

    It wasn't there.

Thin and faint lines are EXACTLY the kind of detail that contrast and color enhancement eliminate.

Pros: Image quality is the only serious defect of this camera, and of course, image quality is not necessarily the single most important feature of a camera. If you value a well-constructed ultra-compact ultra-cool camera with good low light capability and about 5 Megapixel resolution that has already been digitally enhance for beauty, then you would love this camera. Another truly valuable feature of this camera, is that it can zoom while recording video. I know of no other compact digital camera that can do this - including previous Sony models. Downloading photos and video to a computer is lightning fast, although I was using the more expensive high-speed version of Sony's proprietary memory stick that only works with Sony products.

Cons: This is a very expensive 5 megapixel camera. It has no USB port - you must use the bulky proprietary cable provided with it. You cannot charge it using the cable - you must remove the battery and place it in the charger unless you buy the cradle that is not included. The touch screen is the only way to switch between photo and video modes - which is as clunky as it sounds. It is easy to accidentally touch a button on the screen. If you make the screen bright enough to be usable on a sunny day, then the battery life seems like about 30-40 minutes. Like most cameras, the video format is not compatible with the iPod Touch. It uses Sony's proprietary memory stick that only works with Sony products.

Later this month you can choose from the new DSC-T500 or DSC-T700. The DSC T700 is actually slightly less capable (only 4X zoom) but is slimmer. The DSC-T500 is impressive because it adds stereo sound recording and 720p high definition video. It also moves the photo/video switch back to an actual physical switch.

I hope Sony improved the image quality on these new models, but their web site implies no such improvement. In fact I pointed out to Sony Tech support that their press release boasted that T700 images could be enlarged to 8X10, which is a tacit admission of poor image quality because a true 10 Megapixel camera should be capable of twice that. Sony subsequently changed their story to claim their images could be enlarged to A3 size - but did they improve these two cameras at the last minute - or did they simply change their marketing literature?

  2. I received this camera in the mail last week and I love it! It's easy to use, does everything I want, and the picture quality is great.

    *********************

Well, as much as I hate to do this, I have to revise my review. After using this camera for about two weeks, the touch screen has stopped functioning. Most of the time, the screen is completely unresponsive. Occasionally, I can touch it and it will respond but it's as if I touched a different part of the screen. For example, I touch the MENU area on the bottom left of the screen and the Flash controls that are on the right side will respond. I am not able to open the MENU at all so I can't change any settings or even scroll through the pictures I have taken.

Besides all that, the camera still takes very good pictures. Just wish the touch screen would work because I'd hate to be without a camera.

  3. extremely light, feels good in hands while taking pictures, the screen is unbelievable, overall very pleased with the purchase of this item and the way amazon processed my order

  4. I really like this camera. the pictures are sharp and it easy to operate. I like the fact that I can write the names or places on the picture so that I can remember later who or what. I recommend it. The size is great and it fits the case that I also purchased, with ease.

  5. Excelent Performance in pictures, and in the night pictures better than a lot of cameras. very happy with the camera.

  1. I knew nothing about digital cameras when I bought this and it was really easy to learn how to use. The image is clear and the color good. there are many uses for this camera and I would recommend this to anyone. Actually I liked mine so well that I recently purchased one for boyfriend for his birthday.

  2. This was a good upgrade from my last digital camera. It has/will serve its purpose.

  3. This is the fourth Kodak digital camera product our family has purchased. Kodak consistently provides a high level of features for the dollar, and the performance has not disappointed.

The M753 takes very good pictures, is a breeze to use, and is great for carrying for taking pictures anywhere at anytime.

  4. The pictures were all blurry and grainy some more than others the only good thing about the camera was the ease to reacharge.Had to return

  5. The Kodak EasyShare M753 is a nice camera. It is reasonably small and has a lot of features. I was unfamiliar with some of the features that came with it which the manual did not describe. It wasn't until I went to Kodak's web site and found manuals that described the features. I am still getting used to the camera and learning about it but so far I really like it.
