- I bought for my 55 year old mother-in-law for Christmas. I thought it was a good size and easy to use. The only thing is that without a memory card, it doesn't hold but three or four photos. You have to buy a memory card and it needs to be a 2 or below.... still not alot! Will need to download often.

- I bought this camera last year. Only used it for few times. Now I can not turn it on! It looks like new but it is dead. I was told to cost $89 plus $9 shipping if I want to fix it because it is over 12 months old.
- I got this camera in September 2006, and it died around June 2007 (a useful life of approx. 9 months). Out of the blue one day it said "low battery", and would shut off when I tried to take pictures. It was no help to change the batteries. I sent it in for warranty repair, but the factory found a dent in the lense ring (which to my knowledge has no relation to the batteries) and because I had "damaged" the camera, they were going to charge me $94.29 to repair the whole thing. After I told them lense repair was not wanted or necessary, they told me any damage anywhere voids the entire warranty. I have heard of similar battery issues from at least one other person. You are better off buying a more expense and better quality camera, rather than buying one of these every nine months.
- Bought this little gem last August for my son's birthday. 13 months later the LED screen is frozen with god knows what on it's screen. Will cost $50 just to open it up. Won't buy Canon again.
- I bought this a year ago refurbished for $100. It's now been all over the world, taken thousands of luscious images, and is light to carry, doesn't eat batteries, and has a boatload of features if you take time to work through the manual. They've tried, but the menus onscreen are not completely intuitive so a few hours with the manual are vital. When this guy dies, I'll be buying exactly the same model.
- I bought my canon a430 from amazon over a year and am very impressed with the quality, crispness, speed between pics, especially in kids and pet setting (as some users seem to be unaware of) Also Great mic and video. I accidently left it in the rain and soaked it... four days later it was as great as ever...If lost I would replace it with the exact same item. Battery life is also impressive on this camera.

- I bought this camera in July and I have used it on several vacations. The features I like about this camera include the large viewer, the compact size, and the touch screen. The pictures I have taken to date have been great, the camera will compensate for shaking and lighting. Matter of fact, it does pretty much everything a camera can do, including taking videos, recording sound, telephoto, ect. The touch screen is great, you can scroll through your pictures and do camera settings very easily. I am not a camera buff, just a nice lady that likes to take pictures that I can easily download and edit. The negatives have mainly to do with the instruction manual - it is not very user friendly - had to read it a few times to get the gist of how the camera operates. Other than that one item, this camera is worth the price I paid for it and then some.

- I bought this camera because of it balance of picture quality and small size. In its first month of use, I can definately say that this camera delivers. Advanced users will probably be frustrated at being unable to have an 'artistic license', mainly because it lacks some of the features that show up on bigger, more complex cameras like sephia tone, panoramic pics and the like. I'm confused as to Fuji's direction with this camera, though, because when I bought it the vendor said it was being phased out, and for that reason was substantially cheaper. Be careful with your memory selections too-- the mem card the Fuji uses is one of the more expensive available on the market. Thats the one thing I wish I would've taken into account before purchase. But all in all I'm very pleased.
- I bought this camera about four months ago, and it took beautiful pictures - color quality was much better than the A310 I had previously purchased from Fuji. The small size is great, except that I couldn't find a case that fit it well. Because of this, in my purse it seems that it accidentally turned on (which happens quite easily, unfortunately), which caused the lens to push out against my rigid purse which broke the zoom. I attempted to take it to a Fuji place to get it fixed (I bought it recently enough that it should have still been covered under warranty), but they said that it would cost me over $175 to fix the camera (what was wrong apparently is not covered by the warranty)! I didn't see any warnings about this, and had I realized that this was a possibility, I would never have bought this camera.
Summary: great camera, but watch out for it accidentally turning on in tight spaces
- I've owned this camera for about 18 months now. I paid twice the current price, and it was worth it. The camera has performed perfectly in every situation used, and we use it alot. The battery has held up extremely well. It works as well now as when it was new. I can easily take hundereds of pics with the screen and flash on.(have 512MB XD card)
Only downfalls are that occassionally the Power on/off switch doesn't respond as expected, almost as if it's confused and they're is a small 1/3 second or so delay when a picture is taken, typical of all consumer digital camera's. Also, slightly exagerated colors -not necessarily a bad thing.
Video and audio quality are also good, though 1 min max per video. Biggest asset is camera size, smaller than a pack of smokes- makes it easy to take along. Truly a point and shoot camera in auto mode.
Highly reccommended!
- The F440 takes great pictures and with the 1 gig card you can shoot nearly forever. The wav. files are new to us and we're really enjoying that feature. It's size is perfect for purse or pocket. We think larger megapixel cameras are a waste of money for the average family photograghy. We rarely print anything over a 5x7. Highly recommended.
- Sure it only has 4.1 megapixels, but with my new job, I've got money to burn, and I'm still not interested in buying a new camera. It's small, incredibly simple to use, takes great shots, and good video. It feels solid in my hand, and the cradle is a great added bonus. This is a great everyday camera to carry with you on the spur of the moment.
