- Very nice but too bad the USB is proprietary-like Sony products-so if you loosed it you have to order straight from GE.

4 comments about HP Photosmart M627 7MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom.
- Duration of ownership: 2 months
Strengths: 7MP point-and-shoot camera with a 3X zoom. Easy-to-use built-in help screens. Nice looking and strong brushed-aluminum body.
Weaknesses: No viewfinder. Limited choice of settings
Overall Evaluation: A feature of this M627 that I liked is that the camera allows the users to quickly and easily add creative effects and borders to their photos right on the camera using the HP Design Gallery; I can can choose up to 10 different borders, including burnt, soft or torn edges, 12 different artistic effects, such as kaleidoscope, retro and slimming, and four unique color tints. The HP Photosmart Express feature is also nice; it makes makes sharing, printing and saving digital photos easy. The drawback of the camera that I found was the lack of sharpness and color accuracy when taking pictures in night time.
- Excellent service. Super camera. Prompt. Fantastic price!! Couldn't be happier!!
- I purchased this camera for my daughter who is in college for Christmas. She LOVES it. The large view screen on the back is more awesome than she expected. No second quessing at what the photo will look like. She searched for just the right memory card and found a 1 gig SD card and she can now store many, many photos. The only drawback that she noticed was that the night time pictures seemed to come out slightly blurry, like as if the shutter speed may be not set "just right" for the time it is taking for the night shots. She said she would definitely recommend this camera to anyone.
- My main digi cam is a Panasonic FZ20 which is alot bigger then this hp, so I wanted something that I could carry easily with me and stil provide quality pics. Well, along came the m627 and I am very pleased and happy with it. I was hesitante being that it is a hp digi cam, but I read on it and said what the heck. (It was only 50 or less that I paid for it, cant recall) I love the large lcd, very easy and simple to use which is what I want in a small portable cam. takes great pics, which I was surprised about. the only draw back, it only has 3x optical zoom but thats why I have the FZ20 with 12x optical.
one thing though, not all HP cams will be as good as this one or better then this one. I was looking to buying a hp one for my mom for mothers day, a newer model but the pics the demo model was taking were CRAP compared to this model.
so, def read and try to get your hands on it before making a purchase.

3 comments about Digital Concepts VGA Spider-Man Digital Camera with Face Plates.
- This is a good starter camera for a kid. It's lightweight, and small enough to fit into a pocket. I was disappointed to discover that it doesn't have a flash, however, which limits the camera's use. That point isn't spelled out in the item description, so just be aware of that when considering this camera.
- Do not waste your money on this terrible camera. My grandson was so excited to see the Spiderman faceplates, but the is the ONLY thing this camera has going for it, and he couldn't even get one to stay on anyway.
the viewfinder is so small you can't see through it. (No view screen), the camera is so lightweight it couldn't possibly last a day of picture taking with some five year olds!!!! The directions were hard even for grandpa or dad to figure out, let alone my grandson. Confusing!!!! Please look elsewhere for a camera for your children. This one is a HUGE disappointment and I took it back the day after Christmas. Still looking for a DECENT kids digital.
- You get what you pay for. I thought all digital cameras had a view screen but this one does not. My kids played with it five minutes and there it lies on the bottom of the toy box. Without the view screen, it just is no fun.

5 comments about Kodak EasyShare CX6200 2MP Digital Camera.
- Some months ago i bought a 5mp samsung and decided to buy also a cheaper one as a spair camera that would also fit for an every-day use. I chose the kodak cx6200, and couldn't be happier with my decision.
Despite of not being the best camera around, it delivers everything it promisses to: a great value, a very nice picture quality for a 2mp (has an almost absolute color fidelity to the real photo object), a great build quality and a good batery life. Of course, it has its flaws (e.g. no lens cover and a just reasonable lcd, wich gets very dark at moderate lightning conditions), but the camera's qualities easily overcome all of them. I truly recommend it fot everybody wich is on a budget or trying to keep the "good one" safe from scratches and drops during the daily use.
- I have enjoyed using. Instructions are easy to follow and accurate. Product works to my satisfaction.
- IMHO, this was a pretty good camera for the time I've had it. The photos came out adequately clear.
The only complaints I have are:
1. it takes a long time between shots, which is really not a huge deal since I didn't miss too too many shots
2. the picture quality becomes really blurry when you zoom in after a certain point (to get a bigger and better quality picture I just crop during editing)
3. the screen goes black in low light where you have to guess and shoot
4. it goes through batteries very quickly
5. moving photos become a blurry mess in night scene mode
6. after a while (about a year), the camera just would not come on at all unless I kept turning it off and on until it finally came on
7. the flash causes the pictures to look grainy in low light
Overall, the camera wasn't terrible and I adjusted to its setbacks (e.g., carrying a lot of batteries, keeping the camera on, turning the flash off, etc.). I managed to get a lot of good shots in spite of.
- I had this camera for about two years and my brother lost it on me. It was a really good camera and took me a year to figure out how to use digital zoom (left and right arrows) but anyway i loved this camera. Took outstanding pictures.
- Too sensible to rain whater, just used twice and it broken.

5 comments about HP E337 Photosmart 5MP Digital Camera.
- My wife and I are always a bit behind the times with technology, and we've been using an old-school camera with film for years. This Christmas, I decided to treat my wife to this digital camera, though I had no idea what I was buying. As it turns out, I got lucky, as this has been exactly what we needed.
Obviously, if you're looking at this camera, you understand the digital camera concept. We have absolutely loved the ability to discard bad pictures, transfer our pictures onto our computer, crop and adjust them, make slide shows, e-mail them to friends, and all of the other perks that come with digital pictures. What we did not expect was how well this cheap model would work.
The quality of the pictures is fabulous. The camera is extremely user-friendly. My wife constantly comments on how amazingly light it is. The only complaint is that the resolution gets pretty crummy when you zoom in, but that's a small problem for such a cost-effective camera.
I'm sure that this camera doesn't have many of the bells and whistles of more expensive options. We can't send e-mail through our camera, it doesn't double as a pocketknife, and it can't drive our car when we get tired. But it does everything we need and more. I am happy to recommend this camera to anyone interested in a high-quality, basic digital camera, especially as an entry into the digital world. It has made me irritated that we didn't make this investment sooner!!
- its what you need, but not what you want, work real good for pic. but not for the video, its ok for the price.
- I like this item very much. I feel so licky thatI have this. Thanks,
EJ
- This is the best camera for first time users. Forget those Disney cheapo's spend a few extra bucks and buy this one. My child has learned this whole camera on her own. I would recommend this camera to anyone.
- I was very wary of purchasing a digital camera. All the options, styles, and what the heck are pixels and what do they have to do with pictures, anyway? Well it turns out that the 5 megapixels are great for my small to medium photos. The battery lasts for a while, even longer if you take measures to save the battery. Even though I do not find it hard to figure out how to use technology, I think even my mom could figure out how to use this. The buttons and menus are so easy, and it even explains what the options mean and how they affect your pictures. My only issue is that I didn't know I had to buy a memory card for it, so there you go: Buy a memory card and shoot away!

5 comments about Canon PowerShot SD700 IS 6MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Image Stabilized Zoom.
- I bought this Canon PowerShot SD700 IS 6MP Digital Elph Camera with 4x Image Stabilized Zoom for my wife's birthday because she doesn't like carrying our digital Nikon D70 SLR (although she likes taking pictures with it).
So far, it's lived up to all the reviews, takes good pictures and she doesn't mind carrying it!
The only problems I have with it are:
> Using the LCD screen as a viewfinder - the built-in viewfinder does not portray your picture accurately - and I LIKE looking through a lens or viewfinder at what I'm shooting (much easier to compose your picture).
> It is so light, it's hard for me to keep it steady enough, although the built-in image stabilizer helps a lot.
> Some of the controls are pretty small for my fat fingers.
> Shuts down and closes up after a preset amount of time, which makes wandering around taking random shots - like I'm prone to do - more difficult. The "start-up" time is longer than our Nikon.
Things I like about it are:
> REALLY small and light, easy to slip into a pocket.
> Excellent picture review process, much easier than the Nikon.
> Shuts down and closes up after a preset amount of time, avoiding running the battery down.
> Can be used as a dive camera with the Canon WP-DC5 Waterproof Case for Canon SD700 IS Digital Camera, although my wife isn't too sure about that..........
My wife really likes it, and takes it with her all the time, something she wouldn't do with the Nikon, so it meets my goals!
- I can't say enough good things about this camera! I absolutely love it!!
I have had it for almost 2 years and it's been through a lot and still works really well. It has so many features on it that are easy to use quickly and in every situation. You can change pictures into black and white, or sepia, and other colors on the go. There are a ton of features like that which really make it worth the price. The only thing is that the camera is heavy, you definitely know its in your purse/ pocket when you have it. But that makes it more durable, also.
- Purchased this camera for my dad who travels frequently. He isn't very good with technology (still doesn't know how to use a cell phone) but was able to learn how to use this camera very quickly. The functions are pretty standard, the larger screen (from our previous S400) was a big plus for him. Also the Image Stabilization has helped him take better pictures. Also picked up a Sandisk Ultra II 1gb card with the camera. Definitely worth it to pick up a higher speed card. We tried other cards with it and pictures weren't as crisp.
- I bought this camera in Sept. 2006, as well as, an underwater housing for the camera. From the start, many of the pictures had round whitish spots on them, whether the pictures were taken on land or underwater. I've followed Canon's suggestions below and my pictures still end up with spots. Not only have I invested in the camera but the underwater housing. I will not buy another Canon camera for this reason.
This is Canon's answer to spots that appear on the pictures. "This may occur depending on the shooting conditions, but is not a malfunction. To prevent this phenomenon, please follow these steps.
- Lighten the area as much as possible and shoot without using the flash.
- Avoid shooting in dusty areas."
- For this size camera, this is an excellent camera. Don't be fooled by more mega pixels. Six is more than the lens can resolve with these small cameras. Also, you get less dynamic range with more pixels crammed into the same sensor size.
When I do replace this unit, I will be looking for a small camera with the next size larger sensor. Hopefully, I will be able to find something without a zillion pixels in a year or two.

5 comments about Sony MVCFD200 FD Mavica 2MP Digital Still Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom.
- I use this camera for work and it works very well. The only problem I have had with it is after a few months of taking 30 to 40 pictures a day it won't read a disk. I comes up with a formating error. I have had to send it out for repairs twice already. Other then that the picture quality and options are very nice.
- We love the convienence of having a floppy disk to store photos on, the camer may not take the best quality photos but it is sufficent for what we need.
- I suppose the "little" should be re-worded. It's not the lightest, or smallest out there, by a long shot, but I really enjoy this camera. Sure, the floppy technology is going the way of the dodo, but it is still nice to have the convenience, to have it if you need it.
USB is in use in almost all facets of life these days. You would have to have one extremely old and lacking P.C. to not have the USB port available. But, there are some out there. There are those times when the USB port won't read, when something is on the fritz, and you need that digital picture downloaded NOW.
I can't say I'm a professional photographer, I don't judge the quality of photos for a living, but I do enjoy taking pictures. Between the multiple focus, lighting, and picture settings, you are allotted many options to make the next shutter sound capture a beautiful picture.
I would have to say, professionally, you can find better. Can find items with higher resolutions, with quicker data transfer rates, etc. But, for me, the camera is wonderful.
During my time in the military I was deployed overseas, and the camera was by my side. If it can make it through 14 months in a desert, in the cargo pocket of a soldier, getting slammed around and whatnot, I'm sure it's a keeper.
Overall, 4 stars from me.
- So what...this camera is a dinosaur in today's fast-paced digital camera world. However, for the price, it's fits my needs. Just purchased a couple of 128m memory sticks, (which I am sure will soon be obsolete, too)...no more floppy disks.
- The Sony MVCFD series of cameras was our Police Department's introduction into digital cameras. They filled a specific need because they allowed photos to be taken, and the floppy disk securred as evidence, without having Officers download, transfer, or copy (Evidence) images and possibly damage/lose them.
Even though the Department has progressed to far more sophisticated cameras, the MVCFD 200 still has an important role in taking images of lesser evidential importance, applicant pictures, etc., where 2MP's is not a problem. This camera is such a work horse at our Department that they get used 24/7, without fail. An incredibly dependable camera, considering the wear and tear it recieves from a host of people. We have purchased at least four replacements over the last couple of years through sites such as Amazon, to keep this simple technology going as long as possible.

5 comments about Sony MVCCD500 CD Mavica 5MP Digital Camera w/ 3x Optical Zoom.
- I have had a Sony Mavica for the past two years and I have been having a lot of problems with it. In fact I just got it back today from the service department in Tx and it still doesn't work. The screen went blank one day, just wouldn't show photos on the LCD. I sent it into Sony free of charge and a new LCD was placed in the camera. When I got the camera back there was a distinct color shift. The colors look correct on the LCD, but on all other devices my photos are magenta instead of red, which make my kids look purple. I can color correct in Photo Shop, but for a $500.00 camera it is turning out to be a real boat anchore. Save your money, buy anything but Sony. The second round of service cost me a whopping $223.00. Which now makes my boat anchore worth $723.00.
- The Sony Mavica series started it all with the Floppy disk Cameras ( that are still the most popular camera for internet pictures.)
Starting with the Mavica MVC CD1000 20X Zoom Sony did it again..
Mini Compact disks, the CD1000 could only use read only disks - CD-Rs.
With the CD200 Sony set real lead in Media with a camera that uses CD-R and rewriteable CD-RW disks. General Cost 50 cents for a CD-R and $2 bucks for a rewriteable CD-RW.
Using the Small ring in CDrom drives the mini CDs work just like a normal full sized CD. Capacity from 150 to 220 Megabits, or 200 to 2500 pictures depending on your selected resolution for each picture.
With all the newer operating systems XP ect the Camera Scanner wizards and viewers make it Childs play to download pictures and look at them. The camera is easy to use, anyone can pick it up and soon be taking digital pictures.
The entire series of Mavica MVC CDs are great.. with the CD500 at 5 megapixels with upgraded Lazers and CCDs is the top of the line.
- It was great, while it lasted. Although it's too heavy to take on every trip and take those impulsive candid shots. It fits in my diaper bag, but not my purse. About 6 months ago (after 18 months of ownership) we started having trouble getting it to turn on. My husband figured out a "trick" to turn it on (push down on the button while pushing the lever), which worked for a month or so. Then suddenly, the problem disappeared. Yippee! Now, with Christmas less than a month away, it WON'T TURN ON AT ALL!!! I cannot explain how furious I am. It's not like I can send it for repair and have it back by the holidays. My other complaint is with the batteries. Over time, they last less and less..... and take longer and longer to charge up. You will definitely need more than 2 batteries after a while. My next camera will NOT be a Sony. IT's not like we were rough with it; we treated that thing with more care than the baby... and it still busted. grrrr.....
- I had a Sony Mavica 400 and it worked beautifully for 4 years. I never, ever had a problem with it, and it went everywhere with me. I took around 8,000 photos with it and it was wonderful. But then it was stolen from around my neck by a gang of thugs in St Petersburg, Russia in 2005.
The insurance company replaced the 400 with this model, the MVCCD500, which I was very excited about getting - the next-generation model, with improved picture quality and more megapixels. How wrong I was to be excited.
This piece of junk lasted a total of 6 months before it suddenly stopped doing what it was meant to do. It suddenly and without warning wasn't able to access a disc that hadn't been finalised, and after changing batteries it wasn't able to access the disc. To top this off, it also now can't write any photo taken on 5 megapixels - all I get is a 'Disc Error' everytime I take a 5 megapixel photo. I now have to finalise the disc when the battery gets low, and I have to be very, very careful the back door (where the CD-R goes in) and the battery door don't open .
I relocated to the UK soon after getting this camera, and Sony UK refused to honour the 'Worldwide Warranty', even though I had the receipt and the warranty with me. As the camera came from Australia, Sony refused to even deal with me - they told me I had to talk to Sony Australia ... on the other side of the planet, and then asked me to leave their premises!
I am now struggling to take ANY photos with this thing. It is now out of warranty, only takes 1 in 3 photos properly (none in 5 megapixels), and to top it all off, the 8cm CD-R's are next to impossible to buy outside the USA. And you can't even mail-order them from the US - no shop will sell them overseas. Sony couldn't even help me to locate a supplier of the CD-R's in the UK, even when they featured the Sony CD-R's on the Sony UK web site. In response to my enquiry regarding the discs, I was told they couldn't help me and suggested I do a search on an internet search engine for them. (Gee Sony, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the help.) I eventually found one shop in central London that sells them. When this shop stops selling them, the camera will be a useless paperweight.
If you are stupid enough to buy this camera, expect it to stop working within a year of buying it, and expect zero support from Sony. In fact, just expect abuse from Sony when it stops working.
I have just bought a Nikon D80, and am thrilled with the brilliance of this camera. Buy a digital camera from a manufacturer of real cameras, not a company that produces junk. Obviously Sony have given up on this technology, and tough luck if you were fooled into buying it. My assumption is they are no longer supporting the Mavica technology and refuse to have anything to do with any customer that owns one.
- I'm a happy camper. I purchased my SONY MAVICA MVC-CD500 digital camera in 2002 when it was first marketed. As of this writing it's 2007 and I use it almost daily in my work. It's been a great workhorse. It plugs directly into iPhoto on my Mac - transferring images is quick and seamless.
I've not experienced any of the problems other reviewers have mentioned. I suppose, like with ANY product, the occasional lemon comes off the line. My camera has given me years of perfect performance!
I don't use all the features: For instance - if I want sepia tone photos or special effects I take them into PhotoShop and work there. The photos I get from the CD-500 are crisp, clear and high resolution so it makes editing them a breeze.
This reviewer gives the CD-500 two thumbs up. It's the best digital camera I've used.
