  1. I had to return my camera TWICE while it was under warranty within first few months of getting it. Casio told me they'd reimburse for shipping the 2nd time and never followed through. Once camera was repaired the 2nd time, I found myself happy with the camera. It's convenient and takes good pix. The macro feature is only one I'd say isn't up to par.

  2. This camera keeps breaking. It needs major repair every six months. The lens refuses to extend or retract. I had it repaired twice under warranty and now that the warranty is up they want $137.00 to repair it. It only costs about $130.00 to replace. I also bought myself an Z850 before my daughter's camera started breaking and that model is no better. It also has the same lens problem which they fixed the first time it happened. This time they say the problem is not coverered under the warranty. I will never buy a casio camera again.

  3. The camera was fine until it dropped two feet. The drop killed it and repairs are two expensive to make them worthwhile.
I wish it was more sturdy. Other digital cameras I own have been more durable.

  4. I bought the camera because the people that I know that have it (assuming the battery works - will explain later) like the camera and you can't beat the price, given its size and quality. However, I would not recommend buying this camera for one primary reason: battery problems. I have 2 family members that both had problems where the battery would not charge (one instance when the camera was new and one when the camera had been used for several months). Despite knowing this, I decided to take the chance and buy the camera because of its positives (size and price). I was excited to use my new camera on a trip, but then was afflicted by battery problems myself - huge upset. I called Casio with product details and they are going to mail me a new battery free of charge, but in the end, it is not worth the headache.

  5. I received this camera from my Dad for Christmas the year before last...never had a problem with it until January of this year when it decided to not turn on. I thought it was the battery, but it wasnt. I sent it in, it cost $94 to fix it and then less than a month later it broke again..after plenty of screaming they sent me a UPS label to send it in with, and now its going to be at least another 2 weeks before its returned. I hate that it is broken, because i really LOVE this camera..but dealing with Casio is useless. I am trying to avoid buying another casio...although i think they take great pictures.

  1. Great camera, took great pics, everyone loved it. Then one day I went to turn it on and half the screen was black and distorted. The unit was kept in a case and experienced no abuse. I called Casio who said to send it in to an authorized dealer for repair. Six calls and a month later, no repair and a bill for $200 to repair a camera that cost $300 only 6 months from purchase. Neither Casio or the authorized dealer are any help. The LCD display (one of the main reasons for buying) is not covered. As much as I love this camera, I would never buy a Casio again. Terrible customer service and a practically non-existent warranty.

  2. I have this camera for two years and I am very satisfied. As a point and shoot, this camera is flexible enough to let me fine tune settings to adjust to my scene.

Check out the customer photos to see for yourself.

  3. I did LOTS of research before finally purchasing the Casio Exilim EXZ55, my first digital camera. I've now owned it for one year and have been extremely happy with the quality, features, and ease of use of this camera.

The Z55 appealed to me for a few reasons. Besides the obvious reason of desiring high-quality photos, I knew that I wanted a camera with a long battery life. I can easily use the camera for an entire day without worrying about the battery running out. For work, I often photograph special events, requiring the camera to be on and ready, and the Casio performs superbly.

The Z55 is amazingly small. I carry it with me in my purse everywhere. Even in a case, the camera is light and compact. It comfortably fits in the back pocket of my jeans, or in a wristlet. It is tiny.

I especially appreciate that the camera starts up very quickly. It doesn't need long in between shots, and is ready to take a photo as soon as it turns on. I find this convenient and have used other cameras in a similar price range with a long lag time between photos.

Overall, this is a great digital camera. I recommend it for people wishing for a simple to use, long battery life, compact camera.

  4. To be honest when the camera was working it was fantastic. Great features, long batery life, easy to use etc. Then 18 months after purchase it broke. Just will not power up. Casio want $250 + shipping to replace it with a rebuilt one. Bye bye casio

  5. I am someone who sets everything to Auto and expects the camera to produce reasonable results. This camera is fine for pure sun, but anything overcast results in photos that are entirely too dark. I have taken enough shots in various conditions to conclude that this camera does not do well with a lack of bright light (vs. other cameras I have owned over the past 15 years). On the positive side, I love the cradle charger/connector, and battery life is great.

  1. The camera has a smaller sensor than previous Casio models and sets the aperture to the largest available for any light setting when using the "general" best shot setting. So pictures tend to be fuzzy.
You cannot set the aperture or the shutter speed manually. The Best Shot feature is convenient for camera-dummies, but a pain for the rest of us. Searching for the correct aperture/shutter speed combination by selecting one icon out of 40 takes a long time and is very hit-and-miss. There is no explanation of what are the aperture/shutter settings - you just have to try them all out. You have usually missed the shot by then. I scanned a few websites to see if other people are having the same problems as I: fuzzy pictures, and lack of control over settings. They are.
Finally, the repair service is appalling. I just came back from a search of the web to find out how to get my camera fixed (the LCD screen is flashing on and off intermittently and the Casio digital camera online repair server link does not work). Out of warranty service for Casio digital cameras seems to have a miniumum charge of $250 (see the forums at Steve's digicams for a discussion of this). I thank heaven my camera is still in warranty. But I think my next camera will be a Canon.

  2. At first when I got the camera in the mail I was dissapointed when i first started using it, because the shutter speed is slower than my old camera when it is on the basic setting. My first pictures that I took with it were really blurry and I almost returned the camera. However now I have gotten used to the camera and take the most amazing pictures with it!!

  3. This is a great camera for the price. I was looking to upgrade from a 4mp camera and was a bit worried because the price was so low. I use the camera for fun so I wasn't too concerned about all the extras. This one has alot of nice extras and it' really easy to use.

  4. I have had this camera for about 7 months. Pictures taken during the day are beautiful and the colors are vibrant. At nights the pictures are not very clear.

  5. Bought this camera for my daughter. My sister had a Casio but the 5 mp and the 10mp is truly a better quality picture. My daughter carrys it with you at all times. The picture quality and zoom is great. The only quality we do not like is when you snap the picture there is a delay before the flash leaving you with a different picture then anticipated.

  1. i just bought this camera for a gift and now i want to have one. I really recommend this article it works perfectly if you are not professional (like me) you will not have any complaints.

  2. I just bought this camera and I absolutely love it!! It is easy to use and takes incredible pictures. I own a Macbook Pro, and downloading pictures to IPhoto and videos to IMovie could not be any easier. Video quality is good for short videos, but can be grainy when you zoom in. There is also some background noise when using the zoom feature in videos. Since I bought the camera for still pictures and not video, though, I am extremely pleased with this camera and the quality of the pictures that it produces.

  3. Bought this for my 16 year-old daughter. She's a Myspace and Youtube junkie. The camera is an excellent value, very easy to shoot for Internet sites with a simple setting. No more resizing pictures before uploading. With face detection that works and image stabilization, a real nice camera at a very resonable price. Also allows for rapid-fire shots!!

  4. I bought this camera for my daughter who is 9. I got a great deal on it due to someone returning it. At first I was weary of the fact that someone retured it. But I have fallen in love with this camera. Its extremely easy to navigate very light and takes great pictures. I have pretty much claimed the camera for my own now.. I have choosen it over my way more expensive camera. Now planning on buying another one for my mom for mothers day. I highly recomment it.

  5. I bought this camera a few months ago, and I love it! I was looking for something that was simple to use, but still great quality, and this was perfect. The camera is lightweight and doesn't take up much space. The pictures come out clear, even zoomed in. Video quality is great as well. Overall, this is just my favorite camera.

  1. My wife loves her camera. Does everything she wants it to do. The battery life is excellent.

Only reason for the four stars instead of five is that the controls are a little cryptic to figure out from just using it, definately read the manual to access the different modes and such. But I'd buy it for her again in a minute.

  2. Awesome, awesome, awesome!! So small you can take it anywhere and if your a picture fanatic like me, it's a great thing to be able to slip it in your purse take a random snapshot and have great quality pictures.

  3. Very nice camera. Love the quality, my daughter loves it. Perfect gift. She takes it everywhere with her.

  4. I just bought this camera online because it looks attractive, however, I am so disappointed that its LCD is so blur compared to my old Canon camera. I always use LCD to take and review pictures, because this LCD is so blur/low quality, it made me doubt whether my pictures are good or not. So don't judge something by its look, try it at a store, then make decision whether to buy it or not from web. In a word, not worth the money.

  5. This is an excellent camera. It takes great pictures and easily fits in a pocket or purse.Love all of the best shot modes, they all seem to work great. Also love the anti-shake feature.. it works great. All other cameras that I have used the anti-shake features didn't work at all.
This camera also takes great action shots, even from a moving car!! I would definitly reccomend this product to anyone!

  1. My first digital camera was Canon and needed replacement. So I bought Exilim EX-Z1050 since I needed something better than 4 mega-pixel. I have used mine for almost a year now and I love it. It's in my purse everyday for that special moment and the battery life is amazing. I had to charge my Canon Elf very often but I could almost forget about recharging with this Exilim. Also, video is also great. Very easy to use and light for everyday use. Great everyday use camera.

  2. After using this camera on a couple of trips, and now being familiar with its features, I have to say I'm very happy with it. I purchased this after I lost my older Exilim camera, and this smaller, lighter version is much easier to use.

As with any ultracompact camera, don't expect the kind of photography you'd get from a digital SLR, or a dedicated video recorder. However, the quality of the pics & video is excellent, seeing as it's coming from such a small package.

The only reason this is 4 and not 5 stars, is because of the inability to set advanced settings for each shot. You have to select pre-set modes (like "Party", "Sports", or "Scenic") to get the right shutter speed or light sensitivity that you want. This can be frustrating until you familiarize yourself with the different modes available. Once you know your camera, though, it is enjoyable to use.

This camera's best for casual to intermediate photography, which is what I do.

  3. Bought for my wife who is a heavy camera user. After about a year of use, the lens has hung and won't retract. Seems to be a common failure mode for the unit.

Does take good pictures and videos. Just don't expect it to survive more that a year of so if you are a moderate to heavy user.

  4. I had my camer for about a year. It went to Hawaii twice with me and I thought it was the best 400 dollars I had spent!
Little did I know that these cameras are.. well, defective. Suddenly one day, my zoom wouldn't work. Then I realized my menu buttons didn't work. THEN I realized that the only button that DID work was the button to take a picture (which it still does). After doing more intense research, I found out that A LOT of people were having the SAME problem. I called Casio and they wanted a ridiculous amout to just look at it, let alone FIX IT!
So the deal is, these cameras have one cord that controlls most of the functions such as the menu and zoom buttons. If that cord gets rattled a little, it no longer works. SO you will then be stuck with a 10.1 MP basically disposable camera (as they can not zoom or adjust settings either).
However, I must say that my next camera WILL be a Casio, but this particular model.... I'm not too sure.
    Hope my review helps.

  5. For its price, this is a OK camera. What brings my rating up is the huge selection of shooting modes, the video editing, the audio, and several other features. First off: The shooting modes. This camera is a classic Casio in that it has many shooting modes (Best Shot). It has a setting for low light (candles), for fireworks, for flowers (close-up/macro), for pets, for portraits, for eBay, and many other things. The video editing is an innovative feature that allows you to cut the middle, beginning or end of ANY video more than about 5 seconds long. The audio clips are also a great thing to have (although I can't compare this to other cameras). Other good things are high-speed shutter mode that allows you to hold down the button to take several pictures per second; this lets you get the perfect picture of a basketball dunk or of your pet. The camera can also record a clip of sound to accompany a picture when you look at it. Additionally, you can zoom in 8x (without getting grainy) on any picture you have taken. It also, of course, has a timer so you can include everyone in the picture. The only thing I think this camera is missing is the ability to hold the shutter open to take pictures of cars' lights as they move. Lastly, I would think twice before purchasing this particular camera, as Casio recently came out with a camera that functions the same and has 10.1 MP, but is half as thick (and has a youtube shooting mode).

  1. after i clicked "buy now" I read the reviews and hoped for the best.
Opened up my brand new camera and it said "image stabilization not available" and powerd down. Thats all my new camera would ever do, just like some of the reviews said. Returned it b4 xmas. Not a one star review, I just didn't know how to leave 0.

  2. Great camera for the price - good zoom and picture quality
The only fault I have is that the usb connection and charging connecton is though a dock (small) a little bit more cumbersome than just plugging directly into the camera if you do a lot of travelling

  3. We are on our second camera. The first one we bought right before we left on vacation. The camera broke at Grand Canyon National Park. Screen just went blank. Luckily we were traveling with friends who took pictures for us. We returned the camera at the end of our vacation and were given a new camera. One year later, with many good pictures during that year, we are again on vacation. Great Smokey Mountain national park this time. And the same thing happens. This time no friends to take pictures. Still going through the process of getting it fixed. This camera is not dependable. I would not recommend it!

  4. i have had 0 major problems so far, i've been using the EX-V7 for about 10 months now. it has come with my on 2 trips to Las Vegas, 1 trip to the Everglades, and many other excursions. i find the camera dependable and the images are generally sharp. 7x zoom pictures may lose sharpness, but are generally acceptable. i did not buy my Casio from amazon or their vendor.

i am shocked to hear so many people having technical difficulties with this camera.

  5. Same problem. Great pictures and features, but it up and died in Bangkok for no good reason. Too many of us have had the same problem. Also the case Amazon suggests doesn't fit.

  1. I purchased this charger for my Casio Ex-Z750 which by the way is one awesome little camera. The camera only came with a docking station though so when you are on the road you would have to take the docking station with you to charge the battery. Now the camera does do well with battery life but if your on a long trip or taking a lot of video which I was, this charger realy comes in handy. The size is great as its only slightly larger than the battery itself so it does not take up much space at all in your camera bag. The only reason I do not give it 5 starts is the price stinks for a charger. It should be more like $20 but after searching online Amazon did have the lowest price on this item.

  2. This battery is the real deal for certain, and it arrived in quick fashion. However, after receiving the item I realized I ordered the wrong battery for my specific camera.

Returned it to Amazon, easily and with little effort at all.

    Amazon rocks!

    -JB

  3. The Casio BC-30L Exilim External Battery Charger was shipped quickly and works great. Very easy to operate, just put the battery in the charger, plug the charger into the wall outlet and wait till it's charged up.

  4. At first I thought it was wierd, as there is no cord. But it is tiny and after using it think its great. So small it easily fits in purse or camera case with spare battery and card.

  5. We bought this battery charger so that we didn't have to take our Casio camera dock with us on a 3 week trip to China - it worked great and the portable size was a plus. The only downside noted was the high price, but the convenience for travel was worth it on our long trip.

  1. This is a nice camera, small and practical, Casio can improve on the ease of use of buttone, takes a bit of trying to turn it on due to the small power button, also the navigation can be improved, the delete pic and cancel too close, be careful with that, overall it is a nice camera, that will work if you are looking for something quick and small

  2. This is the fourth identical camera we have purchased for our business use. The camera is nice and compact, but takes great pictures, even when we only use a 3MP setting. easy to use, easy to transfer photos to the computers, and overall a great value.

  3. i bought this camera and only works for 7 months the lense motor stop working and i tryed to repair but is almost the cost of a new one

  4. This camera is super easy to use, takes great pictures and has a huge lcd screen. A perfect picture for simple snapshots.

  5. The optics on this camera leave a lot to be desired. Images are not crisp, rather they tend to look soft and a bit out of focus. With 7 megapixels you would expect very good detail but I got better, clearer pictures from my old Canon 4 megapixel camera. This camera is ok if you don't care too much about the details, but if you're taking pictures that you really care about, go with something else.
