  1. I'll make it quick:
Pros: Slick, good looking camera, easy to carry, durable, love the LCD, battery life is ok.

    Cons: here we go...
-Charger is a huge cradle that is a pain to carry around
-Videos are OK in sun light, TERRIBLE at night, and the microphone is useless
-Video format does NOT WORK with iMovie 08, so if you have a Mac, do not get this camera!
-Picture quality is not good using Auto mode, one must play around with settings to get a decent shot.
-Slow as a dog... an OLD DOG
-Stop reading this and get yourself a Canon! I don't know why I got this thing, I will go back to Canon as soon as I break this or loose it.

  2. I loved this camera when I first got it, but after not using it for a while, I tried to recharge the battery, and it died. Be ready to keep spending money on battery unless you use it and charge it frequently.

  3. wonderful little camera .. more than i need .. fun to try new stuff with!

  4. Outstanding pocket camera. Multiple easily selectable settings for indoors & outdoors photography, portraits, & still-life. The "museum" setting was better for photography of museum artifacts than any manual setting I tried. I also use the camera to capture digital information e.g. posters at scientific conferences and the resolution of the text is excellent. The replay of captured images is intuitive. The screen is big enough to show the photographs around ( I carry the camera around sometimes to show off pix of my kids and dogs). I agree with the other reviews that the charger is bulky but I carry a universal battery charger for my multiple gadgets so it doesn't bother me. And, the charger is actually more of a display station: you can set up the camera LCD screen to display a slide show of the stored photos. My previous camera was a highly recommended but bulky Minolta Dimage A1 and this camera stuffs all the features and more into a pocket-sized case at a third of the cost.

  5. I have had this camera now for 3 years. Have never had any issues with it. The images are great and its easy to use and carry. Movies are easy to create as well with good audio range. My wife loves this camera and constantly takes pictures of the kids daily with it. The zoom could be better but for a small compact camera its about as good as it gets.

  1. Size is great for traveling, but I continually have LCD issues. I sent it back to manufacturer and they fixed it once. Six months later, the same splotch occurred on the LCD screen. Of note, it was not cracked, just a malfunction of the internal guts of this camera. I would not recommend this camera for this reason. Others have reported similar problems.

  2. This Casio camera was a great buy and I have been looking for this one for at least 5 weeks!
    Thank you.
    Jonathan Galente

  3. Ruined two sets of vacation photos and our baby photos. Never focused properly. Warranty, support was worthless. We purchases a Canon digital SLR and are much happier. Avoid this camera at all costs! It caused nothing but heartbreak.

  4. I'm about to get a new camera, however I felt it necessary to write a quick review. Solid camera, no cheap build here. This camera has taken a beating throughout it's 4 year life with me. Recently I was involved in an impressive Downhill bike crash where the camera, located in my backpack still managed to pull through. Along with just being dropped, damp, ect time and time again... however it had less than an epic finish to it's life. (Dog knocked it off the table while trying to get some dinner...rendering the LCD screen useless.. but the rest of the camera is still working)

oh alright, I like it when people put pros and cons so here we go..

    PROS
    -Fantastic battery life
-Very tough although not advertised to be I guess... nice side note.
-QUICK start up.. take a picture in under a second.. good for that short notice photo op.
    -Very good pictures
-Quick changing to the different modes with the wheel on top.
    -Good looking LCD

    Cons
    -mmm, More optical zoom?
-The bust shooting mode puts all the pictures into one picture.. that is unimpressive requires photo shop to split apart into their own pictures then the quality is degraded.

-People have complained about the lens error.. I think they're on the fritz.. since my camera is pretty well broke and tested one of these reviews in that "the slightest pressure on the lens will cause a lens error".. I put my fingers on the lens multiple times with some pretty good pressure and didn't get any of this.

HOWEVER if you are worried about it turning on accidentally. Turn that convenient little wheel to "Microphone" mode and guess what? if it accidentally turns on, the lens will not come out.. Magic...

I hope my next camera (which will have more optical zoom) will take and give as much as this one has.

  5. My camera went bad from a VERY COMMONLY reported manufacturing defect "camera stabilizer is not available" error message in the model I had. Since this is a common defect from the manufacture, they should have fixed my camera at their expense, but they refused to fix it without me having to pay $100 something for their manufacturing defect plus shipping charges! Don't buy Casio products! They don't stand behind the quality of their products.

  1. This camera is multipule years old at this point, so I've had plenty of time to use it. That being said, it was already my THIRD Exilim camera. I would not buy a different brand, every one I've had has been wonderful.

My favorite thing about this camera (and all Exilim's that I've owned) is the rechargeable battery. I fail to understand why cameras are still sold that require standard AA battery's. You could end up saving yourself hundreds of dollars just on battery's over the life of this camera.

Also, the cradle comes with the camera, unlike some that make you purchase it separately.

The camera is very rugged, and will withstand your "oops" moments--mine has hit the concrete multiple times and still works great.

The size is also very nice. You can put it in your pocket, and forget it's even there.

I realize that at the time I am writing this review there are newer cameras with more megapixel's, but take my word for it--this product still has plenty of camera!

  2. as with most point n shoot cameras, it takes a few tries before you get a good picture

  3. This camera doesn't feature image stabilization, so close ups are very blurry. I'm very dissappointed.

  4. The Casio Exilim EX-Z60BK 6MP Digital Camera is an excellent buy for the amount of money you can buy it for now. On Amazon.com, I have seen this model selling for $70. If you're looking for a camera to bring on investigations that will give you a good amount of features, without anything excessive, this is the perfect camera. There are 30 picture settings from twilight and portrait, to candle light. You can also record video and audio with this camera.

The pictures I have taken with this camera are exceptional for a 6MP camera. The photos I took at an investigation in Hilldale Cemetery of May, 2009, were taken with this camera. For about 50-75 feet in front of you at night outside, the objects in that radius will show up clearly in the picture taken. Outside of the radius, objects will begin to appear grey, and faded.

The videos shot with the camera aren't the most clear, but they are decent quality for the price. The audio recording is a nice feature, and provides decent quality. After the pictures and videos have been taken, the editing features are nice. You can crop, rotate, trim, resize, and correct the color of photos. For videos, you can edit the length, and cut pieces out.

  5. I bought this camera on amazon back in 2007 and it still works like new. It's really slim and I've taken it all over the world with me and it fits in all my small purses. It's pretty easy to use and the picture quality is really good. The only problem is the battery. My first one died after a few months and I had to send it back to casio. They replaced it or fixed it pretty quickly. The battery recently died again, but luckily the replacements are really cheap.

  1. I bought this camera for my daughter who is 9. I got a great deal on it due to someone returning it. At first I was weary of the fact that someone retured it. But I have fallen in love with this camera. Its extremely easy to navigate very light and takes great pictures. I have pretty much claimed the camera for my own now.. I have choosen it over my way more expensive camera. Now planning on buying another one for my mom for mothers day. I highly recomment it.

  2. I bought this camera a few months ago, and I love it! I was looking for something that was simple to use, but still great quality, and this was perfect. The camera is lightweight and doesn't take up much space. The pictures come out clear, even zoomed in. Video quality is great as well. Overall, this is just my favorite camera.

  3. I bought this camera after much research. I have had it for 7 months and suddenly it wouldn't turn on the other day. I called and they said they would send out a battery at no charge easy as can be. So very happy with camers and customer service! Takes GREAT pics and is very user friendly!

  4. I got this camera a while ago to have a small, slim camera I could fit into my pocket, prom bag, wherever and I could just use as a point and shoot. Well, it fits in my pocket, but that's just about it. I've only gotten a few good pictures out of this camera - the rest all turn out with dull colors, blurry, or grainy. Even if I was standing perfectly still with my subject not moving, it'd still be slightly blurry. (I have a shaky hand, but the other digital cameras I've had with anti-shake functions have fixed that - not this one). I am VERY disappointed in this camera...I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

  5. I'm a photographer, but I bought this camera for my girlfriend (who wanted it because it was pink), and even though I normally recommend Canons, especially for point-and-shoots, I succumbed to the color for her.

It was a mistake. The camera's pictures are just OK, but it's strange, on the LCD screen all the pictures look blurry, so you just have to trust that they are sharp in the file.

Its night settings are not great, but it does OK during the day (but honestly, how hard is that?).

Also, the battery died in about 6 months, which seems to be a common problem, but Casio was quick to replace it for free.

I also don't like how it's a proprietary cable to upload photos, instead of the standard USB cable. That means you have to search for that exact one each time you want to upload.

Would recommend a canon elf/powershot instead, they have always done well for me.

  1. Overall, this has been a decent camera for me. It takes great outdoor pictures, and even though I've dropped it several times, it has never broken.

My main complaint for this camera is that when it takes a picture indoors, everyone's faces come out extremely shiny. I'm talking about people glowing- and not in a good way.

I'm not a camera expert, but none of my other friends who have basic digital cameras have this problem. I guess if you rarely take pictures of people inside then this would be a good camera, but I would not recommend it for indoor use.

  2. I love this camera. This is my third, becasue they have either been stolen or broken. Don't drop it because it is very fragile ( I work with kids, so they are always getting their hands on it). But the pic quality is great. I love it!

  3. I have owned this camera for several years now and I decided to write a review after the camera finally died.

Within the first week, I experienced the lens error/gear grinding that many other reviewers have written about. I sent the camera back for service and it was taken care of under warranty, but it was a little inconvenient to be without my brand new camera for a while.

The second camera worked great for a while, but eventually it tried to turn on in a pocket and I had the lens/gear grinding issue again. After turning it on and off a few times, the camera seemed to sort itself out. I bought a small case for it, mainly to keep it from turning on when not in use and damaging the extending lens. One day I thinking about what a poor design it was and decided to poke around the menus. I found the option that allows you to 'deactivate' the power on button on the back that accidentally gets pushed and causes everyone problems! It allows you to designate the tiny, recessed power button on the top as the only way to turn it on. This button has never been accidentally pressed and I had no issues with the camera after that adjustment. It would have been nice to come with that as the default setting from the factory. It sounds like it would have saved many people from breaking their lenses.

I have always been very satisfied with the quality of the photos and virtually any dificult lighting situation has been overcome with some minor adjustments on the menu or the simple use of the flash. This camera's tiny size has made it the perfect party companion and I have countless pictures from bars and clubs that would not have been taken if I had to carry a bulkier camera around. The convenience and tiny size alone has made this camera worth every penny. It starts up quickly and is ready to take a picture as soon as you are. The focus doesn't hunt around and the time between shots is short enough that I don't notice it.

Sadly, my girlfriend dropped the camera on the floor in Vegas and I got the lens error message again. It won't focus now and makes funny clicking noises. I don't abuse my things, but I didn't treat this camera as carefully as an egg either. I'm not sure how its durability measures up against other cameras, but I'm disappointed with the durability of the extending lens mechanism. This camera has been with me during many wonderful memories and I would buy another one if Casio resolved the lens issue.

  4. I have not had any mechanical problems with this camera (and even downloading the new firmware to accommodate SDHC was issue-free), but I'm realizing I should've moved on a long time ago. Not only are different picture settings difficult and time consuming to adjust (almost completely through navigating numerous menus on-screen), they don't even help with the outcome. Low-light settings produce completely blurry or dark pictures, and indoor flash makes most pictures over-exposed. Image stabilization is a joke, and given the negligible weight of this camera, the pictures really need a good one, unfortunately. The Best Shot scene selections also do not help produce a clear photo, or one with accurate overall color. I'm not a camera expert but am skilled enough to play around with the settings and experiment, but still have not found any settings to be helpful, so I am really concluding that this camera is just of poor quality. I would say, in general, avoid this line and probably Casio in general. I just see other brands performing much better.

  5. The camera arrived quickly, and exactly as described. A new camera would have been 3X the price.

  1. This camera is a pleasure to use, its compact and packs plenty of slick photo-options. I bought the ex-Z750 for my wife last year, and saw what a super camera that was so I purchased the Z850 for me this year. I have only one neg remark pertaining to the sound on the movie option. At loud events (Rock concerts) the sound is distorted. The pictures it takes are so crisp and clear, freezes action (things in motion) just great, no blury. or fuzzy pictures.

  2. I have owned this camera for a couple of years and I use it all the time. Thanks to its small size, it is always with me in my laptop bag. The pictures are decent quality - with some noise that can be removed by a utility such as Neat Image (free advertising) - and I have published many pictures taken with this camera in magazines along articles I write.

One feature I use extensively is the manual shutter speed selection - you can also manually set the aperture.

Overall satisfied with the performance and the quality (the zoom actuator "sticks" but other than that it is working fine even after some abuse)

  3. My camera went bad from a VERY COMMONLY reported manufacturing defect "camera stabilizer is not available" error message in the model I had. Since this is a common defect from the manufacture, they should have fixed my camera at their expense, but they refused to fix it without me having to pay for their manufacturing defect plus shipping charges! Don't buy Casio products! They don't stand behind the quality of their products.

  4. This is nearly the best camera ever produced. A greater optical zoom would make it perfect. The value of the framing/video light has been greatly overlooked. Also, it's low light performance is awesome!

  5. Love the camera but recently noticed some small spots on my lcd screen. More recently I noticed more flaking spots and have discovered it is happening from the inside of the camera. I've never dropped the camera and can not explain the flaking on the screen. The spots are a distraction to me as I take pictures. They do NOT appear on the printed pictures or when I upload photos to the computer. Anyone else have any issues with this? Other than that I have really loved the camera. It has the best battery life of any camera or other electronic I've ever owned.

  1. This camera is amazing I loved the color and what it does! I have had about 3 of these types of cameras they are great handy and fit ANYWHERE!!! great buy I would encourage to buy!!! great video too if you get a big enough memory card

  2. I have had two batteries die on me. The camra is nice and all but how can I use it if every 6 months I have to replace it with a new batter. Casio gave me a new one the first time but now I am out of warrently and out of luck....

  3. My camera went bad from a VERY COMMONLY reported manufacturing defect "camera stabilizer is not available" error message in the model I had. 4. This was a really good camera for me, but as you might notice, it "was" a good camera. WHATEVER YOU DO, do NOT leave the camera on and put in the memory card or take it out. It will totally ruin your camera. I did this, I regret it. I don't have the warranty anymore because its more than 2 years old, haha. But while I had it, it was a great camera! It had a couple of blurry issues, but once I figured out what setting I needed to put it on, I was good to go. But remember, DON'T DO WHAT I DID! :)

  5. This camera was in such bad shape. There where old photos on it and it was surpose to be in good condition and it was in very poor conditions. My daughter hasn't been able to use it at all.
I am pretty sure I will order anything again!

  1. I bought a used one through Amazon and this camera is excellent, I have been impressed with its digital zoom, its screen, and its ease of use... Its digital zoom is so good, that, look at the picture I uploaded to the customer images page, I can zoom in on a book with small print from 5 feet away and read the page. THis is good enough that I no longer have to pay for copies at my school. Yes, like the previous reviewer said, the screen does get fuzzy if you zoom in, but, I wonder if he/she actually purchased the camera, when you take that picture, it clears right up, even on the camera's little screen you have a perfectly clear image...and the screen is good enough that I can read that page in the book easily with out straining my eyes.

  2. I like this one. Easy to use and takes great pictures. It also has some advanced setting if you want to learn more. The settings are (metering -- center weighted and spot), iso.

4. I have this camera in orange that I bought in Zurich in '05, and I love it. I've used it on 6 bike trips and 2 snowy trips in the Alps and all over the USA and have put thousands of shots and hours of videos through it. But I've never lost it or dropped it. How possible? When I bought it I attached a neck cord and have ALWAYS carried it around my neck (except on airplanes, where it lives in it's little leather case inside my camera bag). If it's not around your neck, you WILL drop it. If you carry it in your pocket, it WILL break. Same with any such camera. If I hand it to someone to take a shot, I put it around their neck. EVERYONE should get a neck cord for their tiny digital cameras and USE them. No worries after that. Here's a good cord on Amazon: Targus Digital TGK-NS Digital Camera Neck Strap

The paint is chipped all over now, and the lens cover doesn't open all the way until you tap it (this warpage happened recently in Vegas when I left it in my car for a day, and the car temperature probably reached well over 150 degrees - it was 110 outside - try not to do this!). But the camera still works!

The only negative I've ever had with this camera is that you cannot zoom during video mode. You must set the zoom where you want it BEFORE you start the video.

I'm sorry that some folks have had quality control issues with this model. But if you get a good one and wear it around your neck at all times, you are gonna love it. I am very surprised (happily) that this older model is still available, but from what I read about the newer models, it is in many ways preferable, as Casio seems to be cheapening its products to stay competitive.

PS...I carry my cellphone on a neck cord too, and it's over 7 years old (Sanyo on Sprint) and still works like new . . . never lost, never dropped, never broken. Neck cords are the way to go.

  5. I bought the red (orange?) version of this camera about 4 years ago and it has gone EVERYWHERE with me. Literally in my purse everyday, it has survived the beach, a 7th grade classroom, and hundreds of other venues. I LOVE the size--it fit in a cell phone case (which I could attach to a belt loop!). It took great pictures (comparable to my Canon Rebel XT in auto)--especially considering the portability.

At about 3 1/2 years, the cover over the lens was sticking when turned off (I had to tap it gently for the "door" to snap closed), and now approaching 4 years, it has died. Unit will charge, lens will come out when turned on, but LCD shows nothing and no buttons will work. But after 4 years of wear, use, and abuse, I am beyond thrilled with this camera and am looking at another Exilim!

  1. I purchased this charger for my Casio Ex-Z750 which by the way is one awesome little camera. The camera only came with a docking station though so when you are on the road you would have to take the docking station with you to charge the battery. Now the camera does do well with battery life but if your on a long trip or taking a lot of video which I was, this charger realy comes in handy. The size is great as its only slightly larger than the battery itself so it does not take up much space at all in your camera bag. The only reason I do not give it 5 starts is the price stinks for a charger. It should be more like $20 but after searching online Amazon did have the lowest price on this item.

  2. This battery is the real deal for certain, and it arrived in quick fashion. However, after receiving the item I realized I ordered the wrong battery for my specific camera.

Returned it to Amazon, easily and with little effort at all.

    Amazon rocks!

    -JB

  3. The Casio BC-30L Exilim External Battery Charger was shipped quickly and works great. Very easy to operate, just put the battery in the charger, plug the charger into the wall outlet and wait till it's charged up.

  4. At first I thought it was wierd, as there is no cord. But it is tiny and after using it think its great. So small it easily fits in purse or camera case with spare battery and card.

  5. We bought this battery charger so that we didn't have to take our Casio camera dock with us on a 3 week trip to China - it worked great and the portable size was a plus. The only downside noted was the high price, but the convenience for travel was worth it on our long trip.

  1. This is the only battery that fits perfectly into the camera casing and that makes a big difference when you are trying to change the battery while video taping. Plus it last longer and was less edxpensive then the other baterys I tried out. So, I bought 2 more before they run out of stock.

  2. The battery for my exilim came in timely manner, well packed, and in perfect conditions. I am very pleased with the purchase

  3. This battery was the exact match for my Exilim EX-Z750 camera and works perfect. Don't mess with generic brands that may or may not work when you can have this original equipment battery at such a great price.

  4. This is a replacement battery for my sons camera and it works perfect. He lost the first one.
