  1. Easy to use SD card and AA batteries. My daughter loves it. I just gave her one of my 1gb cards and she has been taking pictures and making videos since Xmas morning.

So far it is really good.

  1. Very good product. Video playback is very smooth and has enough resolution that everything is easily visable, FOR THE MONEY. Have to remember you aren't buying a top dollar helmet cam, it is what it is. I expected less features, and a much more unclear/choppy recording. The videos people have uploaded on youtube etc don't do it justice, a lot of quality is lost. Several of each type of mount is included, for mounting options in different locations. The camera is also a lot smaller in size than I originally thought. I was concerned with the tight single track I ride it getting hung up on a low branch etc along the trail but no worries; tons of room.

Biggest gripe, well 2 actually, is first the firmware only supporting 2GB MAX especially when cards are now available up to around 32GB and secondly is the battery life. Definetly take thier suggestion and buy the NiMH rechargeable batteries, cause you won't get anywhere near the life out of them if not.

  1. My first digital camcorder was a GL2, which cost about $2,500.00. When the heads went bad, I decided not to fix it, and a year later, I bought the ZR830. Wow! Not only is this little camera easier to use than the overweight GL2, but the picture is just as great and needs much less light than the GL2. With a 600 watt light the picture is excellent and the shadows are not as overwhelming on film. The GL2 does not make a true 16:9 widescreen picture, it spreads the pixels, so you get a fuzzy picture. The ZR830 just blocks the view to make a widescreen so you have a true pixel size. The sound is much better on the GL2, but almost too good. It picked up everything that made any noice at all. I just turn the sound all the way up on the ZR830 and do some editing in Final Cut Express and it sounds just as good, without all the little annoying extraneous sounds that you cannot hide. If I had it to do all over I would have bought the ZR830 instead of the GL2, and not just because of the price, but It is hard to believe the price difference compared to the quality difference, which in most cases is none. And that is just my opinion.

  2. We haven't much of a chance to use it yet, but we think it will be just fine- once we get the hang of it. The size is nice, and it's light-weight. Focusing with the zoom has been a challenge, but then again maybe we just haven't gotten the knack of it yet. It's our first video camera!

  3. Bought it for my husband, he loved it. He wanted a camera that would take picture of tiny prints as he wanted does laser marking and pad printing. This camera zooms upto 35x so it takes great pic.

  4. This camera is okay. The picture quality is a little blocky and it is shaky. Overall, though, it is pretty decent. It's comfortable to hold and the options are fairly simple to figure out. It doesn't do real well with brightness in the background, e.g. light reflecting off a mirror or window, but it does have an option that helps. Mostly a good value and possibly better for people with actual video skills.

  5. This is a great Camcorder. It is easy to use and is great for videoing sports. We use this a lot to video our daughter's soccer games and we get a great quality image and the sports feature helps keep the image steady. This Camcorder will hook up to your TV, VCR or DVD burner by AV cables. We connect ours to our DVD burner and transfer our video to DVD. I would recommend this for anyone that is looking for an Camcorder that is reasonably price and easy to use.

  1. Yes it works with MAC. I recently purchased a Mac Book Pro and have used my Canon SD 1000 to take video. The DXG HD Camcorder takes better video but don't expect superior 1080 video. I've used it indoors and outdoors. Indoors you have to play around with the settings. The video is nothing spectacular remember just how much you paid for this versus true HD camcorders. Overall for the size and money and if you use your video settings in a digital camera and you want a better video without going deep in the pockets then I recommend this for you. The biggest drawback was the sound, the mic is on top of the camcorder, but I make my own background noise using the MAC.

  2. i like this product because you don't really need to be wasting time with CD/DVD. sounds really sucks. kinda ok sound. picture is very good. it's not top notch HD video. looks very good. if you want true HD buy something else. for the money , no problem. i still recommend it for the price . other then that if this thing was $500 bucks or more i would definitely say hell no.

    enjoy. !

  1. This is my first DVD camcorder and I am very pleased with its ease of use and quality of pictures! This is for the basic recording for family, vacations, kids sporting events! Not alot of extra frills on this one, which I find very user freindly; since in the past I've had alot of extra options on my camcorder I never utilized-except accidently! All you do is insert a DVD and push record(I found Sony DVD-R are the best). Its easy to use and you get a quality, clear picture and sound-image stabilization is a must as it eliviates the blurrs from shaking hands. The price is right, its small and compact, easy to use.The screen is also large enough to actually see what you are recording and the buttons are all secure so no accidental recording will take place.[...]

  2. This is an awesome camcorder, especially for a first time user. It is very easy to use. The picture quality is awesome. I just got it so I'm still playing around with it. It also takes still pics, which is a good feature if something really cute happens and your camera is not handy, but I try not to waste my disc space on pics since I already have a digital camera. The only thing I do not like about the camcorder is you can't delete pictures or video from the disc once you taken them (like you can with a digital camera)or record over them. Once it's on the dvd it's there for good. Now if there is another dvd like a dvdrw that you can do this on, I don't know. I will look into it.

  3. Okay. There are some things you must know about the Panasonic VDR-D210 before you buy it. If you are wanting to make videos and edit them on the computer/upload them onto Youtube, then look else where. This Camcorder is not for you. If you want to record memories onto a Disk and cherish them for the rest of your life (sounds very cheesy I know), then get this Camcorder. I am a proud Panasonic Consumer and this Camcorder does what it's supposed to do. It has very nice Picture Quality, especially in Daytime. It has okay video quality at night. The Panasonic has a lot of features to it that I really like about their Camcorders. Something about their camcorders just draws me in. If you're looking for a Camcorder for Video Transfer onto your Computer to edit it, your best bet is investing a little bit more of your money to buy a Pansonic VDR-D230 (my Camcorder).

    Pros*
    Structure
    Video Quality
    Brand Name
    Features

    Cons*
Not Computer Friendly/ No USB Slot

Recommended if you just want to make memories and share them with Family. Not Recommended if you want to transfer onto Computer.
    Overall Grade* B
    Jordan

  4. I received this camcorder two weeks ago, but tried it out over this past weekend. It is very simple to operate and picture is great. I am glad I bought one, and would highly recommend this product.

  5. great camera. very small and easy to hold. picture crystal clear. used a sony disc and had no problem. very pleased.

  1. Excellent image quality, good color and contrast, amazing resolution. Very easy to use and setup. I have owned Sony cameras almost exclusively and wondered how the joystick control would work over the touch screen - it worked very well - if fact I liked it better. My largest concern and the reason I returned this unit was because of the wind noise. No matter what the setting, the slightest breeze would create an awful muffling sound - drowning out important sounds - even kids screaming and having fun at the pool. However, to be fair, the indoor audio quality is right up there with best in my opinion.

If you want to edit videos created by this camera consider this -- the iLink (IEEE 1394) firewire connection does work however you must record in the lower quality 1440 CBR (Constant Bitrate Mode) in order to get the video over the link and into popular capture software such as Adobe Premier, Sony Vegas and Apple's Final Cut Pro. I found this to be a little confusing and not well documented. Moreover, the camera will NOT stream video over this link - only playback previous recording footage.

Batter life is remarkable and the included software works great. You can create DVDs and Video CDs right over the USB cable using the supplied software.

Also, I read a ton of reviews about the awful image quality when taking video in low light conditions. I have to disagree with these prior reviews. I found it to perform about even with the Sony HDV-A1U - a professional HD camera.

  2. This is 3rd time that buy camcorder.

    1. Good things
    - Resolution
    - Weight
    - Size

    2. Bad things
    - Camera resolution
    - Seporated camcoreder and disital camera

    I strongly recommend to buy.

  3. This is a great camera. BUT, it claims to be Mac compatible. FALSE advertising.

Google the article in Macworld magazine about this problem...

  4. I am very impressed with the image quality that I see on the built in display of the HD6. The battery life is relatively unimpressive. But the big difficulty I am having is in transferring the video from the camera to my brand new Macbook.

I have attempted to use Final Cut Pro and IMovie and neither one recognizes the files on the camera. In doing research after the fact, I discovered the lie that the camera is a true 1080P camera. JVC is not doing themselves any favors by misleading naive buyers. But worse than that, the fact that I have footage to edit that is totally unusable to me makes we wish I had returned the product within the 14 days for a full refund.

JVC, get your act together. Offer adequate solutions to import video from the camera to the computer or at least be honest enough to inform the buyer that "the GZ-HD6 is not a Macintosh compatible product." Get in touch with me, resolve the issue and I will remove my review from Amazon.

  1. I thought about doing a video review so you could see my main complaint with the camera first hand: the picture quality just isn't good. New light sources such as bright rooms create huge bloom effects that take several seconds to dissipate, and the camera *never* clearly displays stronger light sources such as incandescent bulbs.

The overall picture quality isn't good, even at the highest HD video setting. You'll find better quality on a VHS camcorder: the contrast is all out of whack, anything white or close to white creates bloom light, and the camera doesn't handle motion well. It is advertised as HD, but the picture doesn't even qualify as normal definition on a TV, let alone a computer monitor.

On the positive side, it is easy to use and light weight, and if you think you need a video camera that you can pull out and just start recording, it is sufficient for that. Just don't expect your videos to be terribly comprehensible unless you hold very still.

At this relatively cheap price tag, I'd recommend that you DO NOT buy it. You don't even really get what you pay for.

  2. I purchased this camcorder for my boyfriend's birthday (May 2008). I loved it so much I went out and bought myself one.

The picture quality is amazing for the price. I am very impressed. It is not a low-light (no light) camera. You need moderate lighting to see your subject when shooting indoors or at night. Keep in mind - this is not a professional quality camcorder. If you are looking for a professional camcorder this is not the product for you.

The sound is decent if your subject is talking loudly at a distance or near the mic (be careful not to block the mic with your finger when hand-holding the camera)

Solid construction and features compared to similar products in its price range.

The lens has no cover (similar to that of a camera cell phone) so be sure to place the camera in its carrying case when not in use to prevent scratches on the lens.

The camcorder is very portable and is simple to use. It has minimal buttons and basic features (on, off, record, stop, play, volume, etc)

Again... it is NOT a professional camera. If image stabilization, sound and low light are important features that you MUST have - this is NOT the camcorder for you. This is an amateur camcorder - I believe it serves its purpose and produces quality recordings for the price.

  1. I can not tell you how many memories this camcorder has ruined for our family. First of all, don't bother trying to tape anything indoors. It is very dark. There is a very lame, little light that you can turn on, which does nothing. I found a way to switch the mode to "fine" which gives you more light, but it will not record.

Then it has this annoying auto focus mode that won't turn off. So my camcorder will be in a tripod taping something and it goes in and out of focus the whole time (meanwhile the subject is not moving and neither is the camera, so why does it do that?) UGH!

I can go on and on...bottom line? Don't waste your money! It is not very user-friendly at all and the quality is not great.

  2. I absolutely am ready to throw this thing against the wall!!!! JVC "Customer Svc" isn't very helpful, for one. It's taken me approximately 12 hours straight trying to create a dvd, today alone. The Everio software sucks to the core! It freezes my computer up, doesn't do what it says it will do, and I'm stuck with memories that I can't store onto dvds. The worst and most frustrating part is how slow it is! It's as though when I choose to do something like simply choose a movie to add to my dvd, the software has to think about it and then decides that it'll let me go on, only to find out that after I've spent a half-hour choosing the maximum 50 movies that it will allow (total waste of my dvd that can hold a lot more than that), it'll go through it's thinking process and stop, completely freeze up everything! Just great! It's literally taken me all day to try to do this. I'm so mad because I could have been spending quality time with my family or doing something more important than to waste days on end on this dumb thing!!!! I'll have to try Nero or something else, but I thought that this thing was supposed to be state-of-the-art, considering how much a lot of the reviews out there claimed it to be. Only good thing is that the 34x optical zoom is nice. As for the other features, I'd have to say that this camcorder needs major improvements. Even the little light on it is terrible. When you watch the movie back, it looks as though someone is shining a pen light on the subject, useless, I might add.

I hope there's something better out there, in the meantime, I'm stuck with a user-unfriendly camcorder.

  3. I purchased this camera last week and must say it's the best camcorder I've ever owned.

I've videotaped family events, church services, and special programs.

The software was easy to upload and easy to navigate. It also works well with Windows Movie Maker for adding titles/credits and editing.

At this point I have found nothing negative about this camera. Even my Dad finds it easy to operate and he's technology challenged.

  4. DO NOT BUY THIS EVERIO GZ-MG330 camcorder it you are a MAC user. Its a piece of junk when it comes to its software, and really in this day and age thats what really matters. Its files are incompatible with MAC programs, read Quicktime, iMovie. This is something identified for over 2 years in websites such as "Gadget Review"--wish I had seen it before I made the purchase. Do not take anyone's word that this or other models are compatible with MAC programs. Demand a demonstration before purchase. Its absolutely nuts that you need to go through multiple programs (all at a purchase) in order to download your video files. Note that the JVC website provides no information on reconciling the incompatibility.

  5. I ordered this product with the understanding that it was new (as advertised). The next day, I received an apology stating that the item was refurbished and Ritz Camera offered a $20 voucher for future purchases, or the option to cancel the order. I opted to cancel the order. The next day, I was informed the item had already shipped, and that I would have to deny the package so it would be returned for reimbursement. When I called customer service to discuss their error, I got someone who seemed to be reading from a script and unable to answer simple questions. Then I was told that I would have to wait 7-10 days after they received the camera before I saw a refund. The refund process did not start until I called to remind them that they owed me money. Eight days later, I received my refund, but without the shipping costs. I was dumbfounded that I was being charged for their mistake. After multiple contacts, I received an automated message stating that I would also be refunded the shipping costs, which took another 7 days. In total, this error took nearly a month to resolve and would not have been corrected at all had I not hassled customer service and sent multiple emails in hopes that it would reach someone who could give me more information than what I found on their website's package tracking page. I had a horrible experience and should not have had to fight to get refunded for a mistake that was not on my behalf.

  1. I got my VholdR about a month ago, and I really like it. The camera is really small (only 4.8 oz total), and the video quality is great for such a small device. With a few zip ties, I was able to mount it to my vented cycling helmet, and the footage I've gotten is great. The large record/stop record button makes the camera really easy to use while riding/doing other activities. Also, the dual laser system makes it easy to align the camera properly. Lastly, I love that the software makes it easy to upload the footage to the website.

I use it for cycling, traveling, kayaking, and I plan to use it for skiing in the winter. The only small downside is the microphone noise, but when I'm not going 40 mph on a bicycle, it works great, and with some tape over the mic, the noise is significantly reduced when I am riding. Overall, it's a great buy and I'd recommend it to anyone.
