5 comments about The Essential Fertility Log: An Organizer and Record Keeper to Help You Get Pregnant.
- This book is helpful. Great advice and allows you to keep notes/feelings and everything in one place. Highly recommended.
- This is the second log I've owned. I purchased the first one(the same exact book) at a bookstore and paid 75% more. This book helps me keep up with remembering to take my temperature and vitamins. It also helps me keep up with my test results and log my goals for each week.
- This is a truly wonderful book to have for women who are in the process of trying to conceive (TTC), which can be for some of us a many-months-long process. Besides the various logically laid-out pages for keeping records (daily logs, monthly calendars, test results, temp charts), the other sections provide fundamental, sensible information about the process as a whole, including guidelines on stress relief and staying fit, as well as a helpful chapter on journaling (with corresponding blank pages) and list of useful books and websites. In the midst of several rounds of IVF, which can all blend together over time, I found this log to be a valuable way to keep all the details in one place. Also, I took it to my various doctor's appointments, so I could write down questions as I thought of them and then fill in answers from my doctor over several conversations. This book has become my steady companion while I'm trying to get pregnant. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
- This book is one of the few sources out there that has valuable fertility information & alternatives, plus a VERY useful monthly log. The log was key in helping me chart my cycle and plan accordingly. Plus, Schlosberg adds a perfect amount of humor to give us all a bit of comic relief during the process!!
- If you temps are always above 96.9 and you are into journaling everything right down to what you eat and how you feel about it,then this is the book for you. For me it wasn't that useful b/c I am not into journaling and my low temps are in the 96 range. So, I can't use the BBT charts. Plus, the BBT charts don't give you much room for notes. I like my chart to contain all the info I want to record. I don't want to have to look back at the journal or calendar to see what was going on on a particular day. Instead I chart online at fertility friend. So, I am not going to use it at all. The main reason I bought it was the charts. I liked the idea of having them in this nifty book when for when I go to the doctor. At fertility friend I can print out the charts so that will be more organized then this book could achieve. I also bought "Taking Charge or Your Fertility", it has the same problems with the temps on the charts but it has so much indispensable information that I didn't care.

5 comments about The Secret: 2008 Day-to-Day Calendar (Day to Day Calender).
- If you want to put the Secret to use in your life every day, then you should have this tool. The excerpts drive home key points and techniques one at a time so you can be clear about a lesson a day and cement the lessons learned from the book. Great reminders for those days when your manifestation process has hit a wall and you can't get out of your own way.
Tracey Nadeau
- The calender is really good. Like the book,it gives a lot of good ideas which is motivational.

- This calendar is a great supplement to the book. It is very inspirational and keeps me positive and motivated.
- I have been a follower of the Law of Attraction ( AKA The Secret) for a few years now and never have been happier and more fulfilled with my life. Two tools have been invaluable aides in my life's journey. The calendar is a great reminder daily as to why I practice these principles. But my secret to living it each and everyday has been the book Living The Secret Everyday which has been my bible that keeps me on track with its recipes and a fabulous journal with inspiring quotes where I record my journey.Living The Secret Everyday: My Secret Workbook

5 comments about 2008 Witches' Datebook.
- I like this product because it is a handy reference tool as well as a great place to make notes and you can even use it as a diary of sorts.
One thing I like is that you can write down any workings you make and see how long it takes for them to come to fruition.
- I buy this datebook for some years now and I find it very convenient. Its size is perfect for carrying it around and using it every day. It has everything someone with an interest in Pagan spirituality needs. Harvest and planting days for herbs, moon's phases are clearly displayed, along with planet retrogrades and moon void-of-course. Beautiful art work and a few articles of pagan focus. A few poems and recipes add some ideas about what to do for celebrating the eight pagan festivals. It is very discreet and with an eclectic flavor so pagans of every tradition can use it.
Its only drawback is that it is printed in black and white only. I understand that it is necessary to keep its price low but perhaps it would be a good idea to try a colored version too. I don't think though that this really affects the quality of this wonderful product. I will keep buying it as long as it is printed as I find it the best datebook in the market. And if you don't believe my opinion just give it a try you will be amazed!!
- This is the second year I've gotten this planner and I couldn't see myself without it now! I was a little dissappointed in the thinner pages this year. I hope they don't cheap-out on 2009.
- This is my new must buy gift for myself and some of my witchy friend's for Winter Solstice.
I love the articles and the oodles of information and recipes sprinkled throughout.
- This is the first year I have ordered this planner, after wanting it for the last several. It appears decent and well researched. The one thing I didn't like is the birthdays and deathdays of 'notable witches' up to and including Allyson Hannigan from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Very pointless and arbitrary.

5 comments about Maya Cosmogenesis 2012: The True Meaning of the Maya Calendar End-Date.
- John Major Jenkins has looked into the question of why the Maya ended their 13-baktun cycle in the Gregorian year 2012, and has researched the matter in incredible detail, and comes to conclusions that result from detailed study of many archaeological and specialist works. His study shows that the Maya deliberately targetted this point in time as the end of the cycle, and the evidence is found in king-accession rites, mythology, architecture, and the ball-game.
As you will know if you've read other reviews, the reason is the alignment of the winter solstice sun with the galactic equator - an event that happens only once in a cycle of precession - around 26,000 years. This IS NOT the "alignment of the solar system with galactic centre" or any of the other misrepresentatations of his work that have appeared.
This work stands whether or not anything noticeable happens in the years around 2012 - the fact is, that the Maya predicted that something would happen around 2012. This has become evident since the publication of this book, since the Tortuguero prophecy entered the public domain. In April 2005, the existence of Tortuguro monument 6 was revealed, (though known to a few specialists before that). The stela gives the end-date 4 Ahau, 3 Kankin, 13 Baktun (a combination of 3 calendars that gives the 21 December 2012 date) and gives an accompanying prophecy of the return of the Nine Gods.
- This work of Jenkins was all and more than I thought it would be. I share his path to where we are going in 2012. I would purchase any work of Jenkins as I know I would not be disappointed.
- Cosmogenesis 2012 is a compelling book about the meaning of the Mayan and Mesoamerican calendric images. It reveals evidence as to why the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012 along with explanations as to what this could entail for humanity. I recommend it for anyone interested in the end date of 2012.
- Overall this book is pretty solid I think as far as the research.
The main point is that we are very close to the end of what people call "The Platonic Year". This is a 25,800 year period of time during which our solar system travels through the 12 signs of the zodiac.
On 12/21/12 a strange astronomical alignment will occur where our solar system will get lined up with the super massive black hole in the center of the Milky Way galaxy. The "black sun". I think I read somewhere else that an energy beam is emanating from the black sun and this beam will strike the earth on that date.
The author doesn't really say exactly what's supposed to happen on that date. Perhaps the change that occurs will be within all of us I don't know.
Another re-occuring point is the Mayan shamans' use of mind altering substances such as certain mushrooms. To avoid the upset stomach that these concoctions could cause they would sometimes inject the mixture directly into their intestines.
In appendix 6 he critiques some other books on this subject and compares them to his own research. He disagrees with others that the ancient Egyptians were more advanced that the Mayans. My own take is both cultures have a common source (Atlantis). The pyramid of Kukulcan compares very well to the other pyramids around the world. However the pyramids at Giza, especially when they were in their original condition, stand alone.
Nobody really knows how these pyramids were built by the way, much as traditional Egyptologists like to make us think they know.
He is correct that people in our modern world today may in some cases tend to underestimate the knowledge that these ancient cultures possessed.
Many people today have a feeling that something strange is going to happen soon. I do anyway. Perhaps a lot of people like to read those 'left behind' books because that's a Christian response to this feeling.
There are some truly tragic desecrations and destructions of culture and knowledge that stand out in human history. Here's my short list:
1) the Muslims destroying the surfaces of the pyramids at Giza in Egypt so they could use the limestone for their palaces for Mohammed
2) the burning of the library at Alexandria by the Christians
3) the Spanish burning all of the Mayan's ancient codex booklets and melting down all of the Aztec's priceless gold artifacts
So we see that no single religion or country had any monopoly on destroying knowledge and history.

5 comments about Costa Rican Wildlife: An Introduction to Familiar Species (Pocket Naturalist - Waterford Press).
- I'm back from Costa Rica and I can say this booklet is a good resumé of what you can see in that wonderful country. On 152 differents species shown on the booklet we saw 16 of them. I will bring it with me on my next trip in hope to see more.
- My girls used this guide constantly on our trip to Costa Rica. Every time we saw a new animal, they had to check it off on their guide. The guide was particularly useful when visiting Cano Negro in the North and Manuel Antonio park in the South. I even saw some of the guides in Manuel Antonio using this same booklet. It is a small fold out made of indestructible plastic. We ended up seeing most of the animals shown.
- This fold-out pamphlet offers tiny pictures, scant details and more birds than anything else. It also emphasizes what tourists want to see (including very rare species) at the expense of what they are likely to see, so calling it a guide to "familiar species" is rather optimistic. This publication is not really very useful. Better to have separate guides: one for birds (there's one available in this same series, but I'd recommend a proper field guide to Costa Rica's 900+ species of birds) and one or more higher-quality, expanded guides covering other wildlife (mammals, reptiles, amphibians, insects).
- As a biologist I found this pamphlet good but very basic and limited.
I would recommend it for children as it is durable, easily handled and does cover some of the more common species in Costa Rica.
If you really want to identify more species in Costa Rica than I suggest that you try another source.
- The guide is intended to be a quick reference guide to some of the more common and most interesting creatures of Costa Rica, as indicated on the back summary above the UPC symbol. This waterproof pamplet accomplishes this goal just fine. Pamphlet is VERY sturdy (no worries in ALL weather) and pictures 1 inch square. Captions list Latin name, size in inches and centimeters and, for some, a short phrase describing an interesting feature. Opens to be 8 1/4 inches by 24 inches, double-sided.
I can only think of a couple minor things it doesn't list but should:
1. Region where animal is found
2. Indicator to mark rare species (so you won't expect to see them)

5 comments about The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness.
- Carl Johan Calleman applies a convincing interpretation of the evolution of consciousness to the Mayan Calendar system, provoking interesting possibilities over the next 6 years for energies that might become available to anyone open to working with them. Far from fatalistic, he promotes a view of rapidly increasing opportunity. Getting there however, may not be easy. The first part of the book is rather dense, and the references (to illustrations, etc.) jump all over the place, so stick with it - it's worth it.
- This book is very technical and takes a while to read. However, the information is important enough to take the time to read the book.
- Clear and well presented information on a revolutionary discovery that makes perfect sense of the world and times we are living in today.
- Interesting and well researched book. I guess 2012 will let us all know if interpretations are true.
- I really think Carl Johan Calleman is on to something. I believe this book is a must read for those interested in the new age enigma.

- The Complete Pirelli Calendars: 1964-2007
This book is large, heavy, and full of great images illustrating the history of the Pirelli Calendar. It not only shows evolution with regards to photographic style through the years, but provides a very diverse showcase of individual (and respected) photographer's work.
I highly recommend it.
Greg Gerla
- I had always been fascinated with the mystique that surrounded the Pirelli Calenders. So of course when this book became available I immediately jumped at the opportunity to buy it. If you want to see the evolution of cheesecake photography - and I do mean cheesecake at its absolute best - then this is the tome (its a BIG book) for you.
I would have given it five stars but one of my favourite images was reproduced at half the size of the page. And while I understand that it was part of the artistic layout I was hoping for that one to be bigger.
Aside from that minor issue I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it
- i'd always heard of the mythos of the Pirelli callender.
it was a tad overhyped/overrated

5 comments about Guess How Much I Love You: A Baby's First Year Calendar (Guess How Much I Love You).
- I love this idea and have used it for both of my children during their first year. It is so much easier than a baby book or journal and it creates a simple way to record the little but important things every day both as a reference for the next child and as a cherished treasure to look back upon when they're older. We like this one because of the stickers and classic theme, but wish it had a place to put photos of the child during each month.
- I really wanted to keep track of my babies milestones. As the new Mom of an infant there is so little time. Every night before I go to bed I can write down the days milestones. It is amazing looking back over the last few weeks how much he has grown.
- I had a great calendar for my son's first year but couldn't find one when my daughter was born this spring. I looked everywhere. Then I found this one. The images tell the entire story of "Guess How Much I Love You" and the colors are lovely. It's so pretty that I've hung it in Simone's nursery so I can access it daily. My only wish was that there were pockets on each page for little keepsakes. My son's calendar had that and it was great for tucking in things like "first baseball tickets" and the like until the one day make it into a scrapbook (maybe!) I would certainly buy this product again.
- This is a wonderful first year calendar. I looked at several calendars and this was by far the best. It is so adorable, and will work for a boy or girl. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a first year calendar.
- The calendar has a page of stickers with major milestones and is made to be personalized for your child. It also comes with a height cart for the wall. The beginning of the calendar has space for a photo and a page for a family tree (to grandparents).

5 comments about Gil Elvgren: All His Glamorous American Pin-Ups (Taschen 25th Anniversary Special Editions).
- Gil Elvgren is by far the best pinup artist of all the pinup artists. Just compare his art to some other pinup artists. Put them next to each other and you will see that Elvgren is the best. This book is the best collection of Elvgren's art to date. It collects nearly all of his art in categorical order. The only complaint is the size of some of the art reproduced is quite small -- maybe too small to appreciate properly -- but nonetheless, it is the definitive Elvgren pinup collection.
- What a great Chistmas present this great book made!
There are countless images of funny, sexy and clever pin up situations.
This book spans several decades of incredible art.
Gil Elvgren is indeed a master of his craft.
As someone who enjoys beatiful women, art and illustrations; This is a great book to add to any collection.
Ed Schenng
- Wonderful picture book, many "suitable for framing." There is something charming about these pinups from another era, not at all sleazy.
- He wasn't the first but he was the best. In terms of technique, taste and visual impact Gil Elvgren ranks as the modern day Rembrandt in the world of illustration of beautiful women. He was my principal inspiration as I am a nationally published illustrator and am frequently called upon to paint beautiful girls in ads. As a student at the University of Minnesota, majoring in studio art, my style and artistic goals were the pariah of most of the art faculty except the very best artist they had on the faculty staff. He understood what I wanted to achieve and I never got less than an A in any studio class. In my senior year I visited Brown & Bigelow Company in St. Paul, where I lived, and submitted samples to Clair Fry, the famous art director who commissioned Elvgren and many other top flight artists for their famous calendars. It was then that I learned that none of these men were on staff but located across the country. He loved my work and gave me great early advice as to how to get going in the commercial art business as they knew nothing about that at the U. of M. I followed his advice and started my career which has lasted over thirty years.
Gil Elvgren was the best for the reasons I previously stated but in addition his work was always in good taste. His girls were downright wholesome and "the girl next door type". They often had the look of being unaware that they were being watched and were usually caught in somewhat innocent and private moments. His work could never ever be termed salacious or perverse as so many of his later day copiers are. The art of the pinup, for the most part, has degenerated somehwhat since Gil Elvgrens day. It probably started with the advent of Playboy and Penthouse magazine and their "foldouts". As long as we have these wonderful retrospective books on artists like Elvgren the public will have the chance to see what great pinup art used to be by the absolute master of the genre.
For anyone interested in my contributions to this art genre my official website is www.dickbobnick.com .
- If you love this era of art, this is a beauty. Great coffee table book to spark conversation.
