1 comments about Honor Harrington Ships of the Fleet 2006 Calendar.
- Was very excited when I saw this on Amazon. Got it the other day and am very disappointed. All the ships are very basic 3D models, the texturing is extremely basic and every one of the vessels looks like it's made out of plastic.
Also, not one of them shows what the sidewalls look like in action.
I do not recommend this unless you want the calendar itself for its game date conversions.

1 comments about The Stephen King Desk Calendar 2006 - Includes Short Story My Pretty Pony.
- This desk calendar is wonderful! Every week, you are treated to a new chapter from Stephen King's life. Some entries surround his personal life, his life as an author, and his life with Tabitha. Other entries concern his works, the characters from those works, and in which other works these works are referenced. My favorite; however, were the ones which gave statistical data; crossreferencing between stories, characters, the mention of Derry, and scenarios. It's a dream product for even a casual fan of the King of Horror.
As for the calendar itself, the writing spaces are accommodating and large enough to list several events [I make small lists on mine!]. The anniversaries of various character elements [deaths, births, convictions, etc.], occurrences, and events are listed here and there throughout the book. The font is large and easily read, and the cover is very nicely done with a sturdy spiral binding.
All in all, this was a great purchase, and even I [a Constant Reader] have learned quite a bit about the King I didn't know.
Here's hoping they continue producing items like this one throughout the years.

5 comments about Bond Girls 2006 Calendar: The Women of 007 (Calendar).
- This is anything but a "classic" calendar. It is a fine calendar, but it is not "classic" unless you consider Halle Berre--although beautiful--and Timothy Dalton, as classic. Roger Moore scenes appear 3x, whereas Sean Connery only appears twice, the same number of times as does Timothy Dalton. Disappointing . . .
- There are 12 months in the year and 20 Official James Bond films. 12 out of 20 isn't bad. That's 60 percent. 60 percent of 5 stars is 3 stars. That's about how I would rate this James Bond calendar. The photos of Grace Jones from A VIEW TO A KILL and Diana Rigg (with George Lazenby) from ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE look the best.
- This is a fantastic collection of pictures of the James Bond girls. I have been looking for years for some of these photos. You really can't go wrong.
- Photography is a hobby of mine and a rather passionate hobby to be sure. However the photographs represented here are commonplace to say the least. There is no life, no vitality in the visuals. This is the world of James Bond. His world is dynamic and resourceful. These images are unfortunately contrary to that vision. Month after month you will find nothing better than that indelible image found on the cover of this calendar. They are getting rid of Pierce Brosnan and I just wonder who or what is next. Possibly the publicity photographer? The value of the Bond continues to diminish. Perhaps the one small saving Grace (excuse the pun) is that introspective shot of Grace Jones from A VIEW TO A KILL.
- The "Bond Girls 2006 Calendar: The Women of 007" is one of the better ones. The balack & white photos from DR. NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, GOLDFINGER and DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER are outstanding. There is also a great color photograph of George Lazenby from ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE.

1 comments about Fairies: Illustrations by Richard Doyle: 2006 (Wall) Calendar.
- "In most cases, illustration defers to the narrative flow of the story it accompanies, but Richard Doyle (English, 1824-1883) was more concerned with establishing a magical atmosphere in his paintings. Imagination unfettered, he created lustrous, colorful, and highly detailed worlds for his large cast of fairies, elves, and animals to inhabit. Twenty-four fine Doyle illustrations from the 1870 book In Fairyland, accompanied by Doyle's idiosyncratic captions, adorn this calendar, along with captivating quotations concerning fairies. ¶ 13 x 12" wall calendar (opens to 13 x 24") with twelve full-color reproductions. Illustrations from the Bodleian Library. ISBN: 0-7649-3131-8. Click on the small picture to see the back cover. Related items available in Angels, Fairies, & Unicorns."--© Pomegranate

3 comments about The Teacher's Calendar School Year 2006-2007 (Teacher's Calendar).
- I am the principal of a small Catholic school, and I use the information in this book to write the morning announcements. The kids love to hear a little piece of history, or a snippet of trivia, or important holidays in foreign countries. It has inspired some off the wall celebrations, such as Hoodie Hoo Day which I celebrated with my 8th graders when I taught.
- This book covers the gamet for holidays and dates to be remember or celebrated. An excellent resource for student participation in current and historic events.
- Now that I've been using the latest edition of the Teacher's Calendar for a few weeks, I can say for certain that it's done what I hoped: built an appreciation among my "Social Studies is boring" 3rd graders for historical events. If I forget to read them the highlights for a day in history during the usual time in the morning, at least one of them will ask, "What happened today?"
I highly recommend this book to fellow educators who are looking for a sure way to build more interest in history among their students.

5 comments about The Weather Wizard's 5-Year Weather Diary 2006.
- This is the third book, my husband has used in his observations of local weather. It is easy to use and allows plenty of space to write extra observations.
- This is the third time we have used this diary. We like being able to compare the weather from year to year. Since we can look at up to four years back it is interesting to see any changes. If you are a weather addict this is a great book.
- I really like this, with large spaces for weather, lots of interesting trivia
- Just completing the last month of our 5 year weather diary and we definitely want to continue. With boxes for basic observations, there is room to add comments germain to your interrests (like animals and birds observed or fires in the area) and summary pages at the end of each month provide a spot to total precip thus far or spend 4 philosophical lines summarizing your month. We enjoy commenting on what's really unusual or pulling up the reigns and saying "No,it's been dry or hot or whatever for 4 out of five years running on that date...."
- My husband has been using these diaries since the '80's to record highs and lows and important life events.
