4 comments about Standard Catalog of American Cars, 1946-1975.
- This book is a good reference source for the meaningful information on cars produced through this period. We are not talking War And Peace, though from the heft of it you might think so. Very dry and factual. It also illustrates why alot of the 70's were a terrible time for cars. It even lists my old plymouth cricket!
- If you are a car buff you have to have this book. I own this book as well as the now out-of-print American cars 1805-1942. These are the bibles of car history. No other books have what these have. A real bargain for all the detailed information you get. Strongly recommended.
- Does anyone know if this book is available as a cd rom
- The Standard Catalog of American Cars is the best source for in-depth information on all makes of American cars. In addition to thousands of photos, the catalog includes specs, serial numbers, production totals, and current values on a 1 to 6 scale. Specs include original prices, weight, options, engines, overall length, wheelbase lenth, locations of factories, and much more. It's a great first source for anyone that's thinking of buying an older American car. It arms the potential buyer with enough information to have an intelligent conversation with anyone selling classic cars. With the information in this book, I've talked to sellers and knew more about their car than they did. As an old car collector and hobbyist, I've found it to be an indispensable tool. The only criticism I have is that I wish it had more photos in general, especially color.

3 comments about Traveling With the VW Bus and Camper.
- I didn't realize that this book is the same text and pictures as a previous book titled Campervan Crazy by the same author, David Eccles
- The same author has written the excellent VW Camper- The inside story. That book deals with specifications on the differnt campers, while his book are more about humans, culture and adventures.
This is a nice book, well written and good layout. I somehow think that it could have been more on travelling tips.
Nevertheless, a good buy!
- This is a good general history of the VW Campervan. Released in the UK as Campervan Crazy (which is a much more accurate title). I would have hoped to see more on VW expiditions and actual camping but alas much of the book (over 70%) was focused on the hippie van culture. And the book is from a decidedly British point of view. On the up side there are some great pictures and anyone who grew up camping in a combi will bring back fond memories reading this book. For some reason Amazon is not shipping this book at this time but it is availible from the publisher.

5 comments about Elements of Gas Turbine Propulsion w/ IBM 3.5' Disk.
- The book introduces the theory and operating principles of gas turbine engines. The fundamental concepts of the turbine engines design are spelled out. The primary systems and accessories of the gas turbine engine are also discussed.
The book provides an excellent foundation in gas turbine engines and jet propulsion theory for aerospace or mechanical engineers. It is presented at the graduate and senior undergraduate level and provides a comprehensive coverage of all the fundamentals in a reader-friendly manner that also works beautifully as a professional reference.
The book is well written and easy to follow with clear explanations and numerous illustrations and pictures to reinforce the basic concepts, trends, and design examples. The book also has several worked examples and many homework problems all which help the reader to grasp and apply the concepts. This is one of the best books available on the market on gas turbine engines and is therefore highly recommended.
- I'm a senior aerospace engineering student and am the propulsion lead for my aircraft design team. This book is very readable, understandable, and applicable to what I'm doing. I've looked through several other books and this one (as well as Mattingly's Aircraft Engine Design) has the most useful information and has been very helpful.
- This has got to be the most complete turbine book I have ever seen. Containing pretty much everything on cycle analysis, it even provides a good review of thermodynamics and compressible flow. It does, however, look to be a little difficult to teach from with eqautions and graphs flying about, but to the knowledged user it will serve as a great and complete reference. (There are some errors in the text you might want to correct found on the book's webpage.)
- This is the best textbook written on the modeling and performance prediction of gas turbine engines. A systematic method is used to model a variety of engines from the basic turbojet to the advanced afterburning turbofan used in modern fighters. Performance predictions include the effect of engine controls - a unique feature. Turbomachinery design includes structural considerations. This book is a great textbook for junior/senior level courses in aerospace/mechanical engineering. It is being used for a basic course in gas turbine engine and a followup course in engine component design...
- I bought the book "Elements of Gas Turbine Propulsion" in August of 1999 and I still read it almost everyday. It is a very interesting book, but it has a serious flaw in that there are so many errors, it appears that the editor(s) were asleep or out to lunch. It was a great disservice to the author, as I think he was shortchanged by the publisher. Being a former member of the USAF, myself I feel that his work was more meticulous than this. Perhaps the publisher was in such a hurry to hit the presses at all costs, that this is the result. This seems to be the trend in recent years. I believe that one of the major networks did and expose regarding major publishing house oversights in this area.

5 comments about Airstream Living.
- really great for airstream lovers. beautiful pictures and ideas for airstream updating and decorating. the binding, however, could not withstand the weight of the pages and loosened up pretty quickly.
- JUST A TERRIFIC BOOK TO LOOK AT THE HISTORY OF THE AIRSTREAM. ENJOYED SEEING THE OTHER DECORATED "HOMES". SOME ARE TRULY AN INSPIRATION. CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY OWN 'TRAILER'.
- We took this on a road trip to Seattle in our VW van and everyone in the van had a blast looking at the photos and dreaming about owning (and developing creative uses for) an Airstream one day. Great fun.
- This book is an awesome look into the interiors of Airstreams and a few other brands (very few). I enjoyed the book thoroughly. However, the glue binding on the book was very stiff and the binding has broken, letting some pages go free.
- The creative interior designs that Airstream owners have done over the years are highlighted, from actors, to retirees, to even restaurants. Lots of photos and an interesting read for anyone that loves to RV.

3 comments about The Big Book of Massey Tractors: The Complete History of Massey-Harris and Massey Ferguson Tractors...Plus Collectibles, Sales Memorabilia, and Brochures.
- product exactly as described - very informative. makes a great gift for any massey buff!
- This is basically a worthwhile book and provides an excellent history of the development of Massey Harris.
The background for each branch of the company is detailed and gives insight into the founders' thinking and lives. New insight into the Harry Ferguson connection and Harry himself was especially interesting to me. I would like to have more detail and insight for the later company leaders.
The tractors for the most part are covered adequately, especially the early models. Many of the later models were not covered in much detail. For example the 100 series is sketched only broadly. It is so brief(for the 135) it gives incorrect information and leaves a misleading view of this tractor. The engine options are missed, including the change to the Perkins 3 cylinder gas engine. The photograph for the 135 is a golf course model.
In general the photographs throughout the book are excellent.
As with most tractor books there are errors. In this book the most glaring are related to photo descriptions. Page 194 shows a garden tractor with a belly mower, but the caption refers to a rototiller and sickle mower. Page 199 shows a tractor pulling a wagon but the caption says it is pulling a combine. There several other mislabled photos.
Even with these editing problems this Big Book is worth reading.
- I got this book for my husband. So he is the expert on whether it is good or not. He thoroughly enjoyed the publication. Illustrations are excellent. Written material is good

5 comments about Sailors' Valentines.
- A cleaverly package book. Nice pictures of old Valentines, however using one with a questionable picture spoils the entire book.
- Very interesting, good history, and enjoyable reading. I reccomend for ages 9 on. One will want to travel to the beach and begin a hobby in shell collecting just to build a Sailors' Valentine.
- A very beautiful, high-quality book. I first saw it at a kaleidoscope show and after a look at a few of the pictures, you will understand why. The photos are exquisite and it all comes in a unique presentation box. Well worth the price.
- This is a beautiful and different book. But, be warned if you are giving it as a gift to someone. The book comes wrapped in plastic and I did not flip through the book before giving it. There is a VERY inappropriate picture of "naked people up to something" in it. Fortunately the gift recipient thought it funny as opposed to being offended.
- I just gave this as a gift to my sister, who's thinking about designing and making a sailor's valentine. She's THRILLED! What a wonderful book for the collector, crafter, or antique fancier. Beautifully done. Fondas identifies many of the shells used in these examples. A breathtaking volume that's sure to become a collector's item in its own right.

1 comments about Classic Deere Tractors: An Album of Favorite Big Green Farm Tractors from 1914-1970 (Farming Legends).
- Compiled by American tractor enthusiast Cletus Hohman, Classic Deere Tractors is a showcase album of a wide variety of farm tractors from 1914 to 1970. Full-color photographs present each of these classic "big green" tractor models, while brief captions containing just the facts about each model enhance what is primarily a pictorial tribute. Classic Deere Tractors is a thoroughly enjoyable and nostalgic book which is specifically and enthusiastically recommended for dedicated tractor enthusiasts in general, and John Deere fans in particular.

1 comments about Mustang, America's Favorite Pony Car.
- My good review of "Mustang-- America's Favorite Pony Car" may come as a surprise to people how know me. Even for people like me who love old American cars, Mustangs are one of those subjects that's been done to death, along with '55-'57 Chevys, Thunderbirds, and streetrods. I really didn't want to see yet another book on Mustangs, but I found myself unable to put this one down. This is not just another Mustang pep rally. For the first time in years, I found myself learing something about Mustangs. I've seen many California Specials, but I never knew the details of Mustang's High Country Special for 1968 or the evolution of Steve Saleen's amazing post-muscle-era custom performers. Like many, I had passed off the 1970's Pinto-based Mustang IIs as laughable relics of the bad old days, but more than any other chapter, the Mustang II story fascinated me with new and interesting material. For any Mustang enthusiast who's tired of the same old "aren't they wonderful" thing, this book will be a real joy with some subtle humor along the way. Apparently, terrified children were a Mustang option for 1967.
