2 comments about Standard Catalog of Chevrolet 1912-2003 (Standard Catalog of Chevrolet 1912-1998).
- There are errors in data, for example the vin breakdown on 1970 Camaro incorrectly states that the six digit is the assembly plant. There are others as well. The previous edition was more accurate.
- I like Hot Rods. Many are made from the oldr chevs and fords. There are so many old ford hot rods that I have learned some of the body styles for the pre-50s models. With Chevrolets I needed help with models prior to 1941. This publication is a wealth of information on all the models, their features, motors, horsepower and how many of each were built.
Not a novel, but a great reference.

Thanks, Pontiac, for having your 75th anniversary the same year that my brother bought one! This was a fun gift that he displays in his living room along with his driving trophies.

5 comments about The Ultimate Guide to Hot Wheels Variations: Identification and Price Guide to More Than 2,000 Collector Number Packs!.
- I started collecting Hotwheels cars about 3 years ago. What makes me different than most of the other collectors, is that I live in Santiago, CHILE (here, Hotwheels cars market is very small compared with other countries). Many of the variations and models that exist in US, aren't available here. Mike's guide has been an invaluable tool for me to get those variations I never know that exist or I will never find hanging in pegs in Santiago.
I also have had the chance to email Mike many times and he's very compromised with this hobby (or better said, passion!). If you love Hotwheels cars, you MUST buy this guide (or the new one that's coming by the end of March 2004). U2, from RTC.
- I found the 'Ultimate Guide to Hot Wheels Variations' one of the most valuable resources to date for the valuation of Hot Wheels variations; both for collectors and dealers alike. As owner of [a web site,] I refer to this guide on a daily basis for determining the minute differences between Hot Wheels variants. The guide is concise, well laid out, easy to follow, and extremely accurate (in my opinion).
- This book stinks the pictures are horrible I donated it to te libary. It stinks
- Hi Michael I had the pleasure of getting a copy of your book. It is excellent very informative and a great tool for us collectors. The descriptions were complete and detailed. I have been telling my fellow collectors about it. Finally a book that answers the question "Is there anyone more obsessed with Hot Wheels than me?" Well Michael my deepest sympathy it might be you. LOL . But I do want to give you your deserved recognition for a job well done on the book. Looking foward to future updates of your book. Thanks again for all your hard work on The Complete Guide to Hot Wheels Variations. Yours in the brotherhood of obsessive compulsive Hot Wheelers.
- This is a great book and being a variation collector for many years I can tell you that if there is a variation not listed in Mikes book, it probably does not exist. I have trusted this guy for many years and he has always been a straight shooter. I have never hunted for cars that were just rumors. I was so glad when I heard this book was coming out, I couldn't wait to buy it. It would be great if I had something he didn't have in there, but I'm still looking for all the things that are! And by the way. The Suzuki Quad is listed on Page 79 number 311 c variation, listed as "Tiger Paw Wheel" which some would call the POW wheel. Mike has always used his own abbriviations. That's why I like him and his book. (His web site was great, sure do miss it) He doesn't follow anybody elses lead. He goes his own way. I have met him and he is real easy to talk to. He is also the first one to admit when he is wrong, which you don't see too much these days when people write books. Thanks for the great book, I can't wait for the next one!

4 comments about Formula 1: Portrait of the 60's.
- Very nice and emotionally pictures! But where is the text for these touching pictures?? It's a pitty!
- On the cover of this book is a portrait of Jack Brabham, "smiling Jack", the face of a winner - tired, gritty, but highly pleassed with himself. This wonderful black-and-white picture epitomizes this whole book of motor racing portraits from the 60ies. Schlegelmilch is the man for the job. He has followed F1 since the early sixties, he has witnessed triumphs and tragedies and has always been able to portrait the human side of this high-pace, high-glitz and high-tech sport. The sixties saw incredible technical advancements in motor-racing, but these advancements sometimes came at a terrible price. It was also a decade where some of the greatest drivers of all time left their mark on the sport, like Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart. Schlegelmilch is the master of natural light and so many times has been able to capture that special moment, gesture or expression in a driver's face that says more than a 1000 words. Even if you are not an F1 or racing fan, this book presents black-and-wite portrait photography at the highest level and is a joy to look at.
- Schlegelmilch has been in the profession of Formula One photography since 1962 and is highly regarded by his peers and his customers. The reason for that high esteem is displayed for all to see in this publication. Portraiture of the highest order of an era in motor-racing which will never be repeated. Rainer eschews artificial lighting....he invariably uses what natural light is available and, as a result, most of his images have an artistic quality rarely seen in motor-racing photographs. A fine publication at a most reasonable price and one that should be in the the collection of every Formula One enthusiast.
- An oversized book filled with Ranier Schlegelmilch's magnificent photos of F1 in the 1960s, an era where the faces of the drivers were not yet hidden by full-visored helmets and where there were no gravel pits or armco barriers to limit the photographer's scope. The portraits of the racers are coupled with written profiles that encapsulate the essence of the man, in three languages. A comprehensive, black and white trip down memory lane.

1 comments about Classic Bikes.
- Peter Henshaw writes about the history of classic bike manufacturers with a style that doesn't give a clue as to how hard it must have been to gather all this history. He has articles and photos covering: Ariel, AJS, BMW, Brough Superior, BSA, Douglas, Ducati, Excelsior U.K., Excelsior U.S.A., Harley Davidson, Henderson, Hesketh, Indian, James, Jawa, Laverda, Matchless, Morini, Moto Guzzi, MV, new Hudson, New Imperial, Norton, NUT, Panther, Royal Enfield, Rudge, Scott, Sunbeam, Triumph, Velocette, and Zenith.
80 pages. 100 full color photographs including some Harleys like the W-series 750cc, a 1923 J model, a 1915 F model and the 500 cc single that I don't remember seeing in the big official Harley book. There are 15 color photos of classic Harleys. The Vincent photos and company history alone justify buying this book. If I had any complaints it would be that I wanted to see the whole bike in some of the photos instead of the few where they only show the engine section and alittle to each side. I hope Peter Henshaw does some more detailed writing on specific models, or I should say, specific brands of classic bikes. But, here is a pretty good overview of the major players, excepting the Japanese makers of which at one time there were almost 200 in number.

1 comments about Classic Deere Tractors: An Album of Favorite Big Green Farm Tractors from 1914-1970 (Farming Legends).
- Compiled by American tractor enthusiast Cletus Hohman, Classic Deere Tractors is a showcase album of a wide variety of farm tractors from 1914 to 1970. Full-color photographs present each of these classic "big green" tractor models, while brief captions containing just the facts about each model enhance what is primarily a pictorial tribute. Classic Deere Tractors is a thoroughly enjoyable and nostalgic book which is specifically and enthusiastically recommended for dedicated tractor enthusiasts in general, and John Deere fans in particular.
