1 comments about Legendary American Cars.
- The book is gorgeous. Its size, its overall quality of binding are impressive, and its photographs are just stunning. In fact, the quality of photographs is the most attractive feature of this book. The large-scale format, and what is even more important, the ultra-high resolution of the pictures allow to see every single detail of the car, literally, while deep, gleaming colors make every photograph the candy for the eyes! The text comes like a pleasant bonus. Unless you are a newcomer in the fantastic world of classic cars, you'll probably find it not very informative, but certainly nice and neat to read. It`s like an icing on the cake. What makes the book on such general subject remarkable is the model selection, and that's exactly what makes me so exciting about it. Elegant Packards, mighty Duesenbergs, rakish Cords, classic Chrysler Imperials, fabulous Cadillacs ... You will find all of them, both pre- and post-war, in abundance! If you were born a little earlier and knew the classic car before it became a muscle car, you know what I mean. The books with such model selections are not so common nowadays, but you have a nice opportunity to buy just one more of them right now.

2 comments about Beachcombing the Pacific.
- Although Amos Wood acknowledges the casual beachcomber as someone who decides to explore the hide tide line on a spontaneous Sunday afternoon, this book is written for the more serious seeker of odd objects that wash up on the Pacific shores. He explores basic techniques - where and how to look for items, clothing and gear necessities, the type of objects you're likely to find and which are valued most highly, safety concerns, and a breakdown of the coastal areas and their best beachcombing opportunities. This book not only covers the American west coast but includes the Marshall Islands, the Canadian coastline, Caroline Islands, and the Hawaiian Islands. He supplies roughly sketched line drawings of the strongest currents and how they hit the land. The black-and-white photographs give the book a dated feel, making it seem written much earlier than 1987. Still, the information is good and helpful for anyone wishing to embark on a serious beachcombing hobby.
- If you have an interst in beachcombing, then this is the book for you! I started reading this book the moment it arrived in my mailbox.I couldn't put it down. The author did a great job of describing the in's and out's of this subject, with many stories as well as tips and tricks to improve your chances of Sucess in the pursuit of this pastime. He has stories and great photographs ( black & white ) of the places he has beachcombed, and many recomendations about how and where to find the good stuff. From Alaska to South America as well as many other places in the Pacific ocean are covererd in good detail. This would be a great book for anyone visiting the coast or living there.

2 comments about Illustrated Encyclopedia of World Railway Locomotives (Trains).
- A concise and lucid technical explanation of how electric, diesel and steam locomotives work. A 2nd edition of the original 1959 publication (which I also have). It is well illustrated with drawings and photographs, although there are no locomotive plans included.
The book has nothing to do with simulators but it is a good prototype resource to have if you're into computer based train simulators, such as Microsoft Train Simulator, and you want a technical book about world railway/railroad MPU types and how they work, then this book is a must have..
Captain Bazza
- A highly recommended and invaluable addition to any railroad buff's reference shelf, the Illustrated Encyclopedia Of World Railway Locomotives is concise, authoritative, comprehensive, and a thoroughly "reader friendly" compendium surveying and presenting a wide range of modern railway locomotives ranging from standard steam engines and diesels to subway and electric motor cars. here are to be found dual-powered engines, propeller-driven railcars, and other less conventional forms of motive bower. The locomotives are drawn from around the world and include brief biographies of the mechanical engineers who designed them, as well as information on construction details, problems of operation, methods and systems of road testing, and more. More than three hundred photographs, diagrams, and drawings enhance this definitive compendium.
