5 comments about Breyer Animal Collector's Guide: Identification and Values (Breyer Animal Collector's Guide).

  1. Describes everything I needed to find out about the Breyers. Sometimes it was a little difficult since I had the horses and had to search individual pages until found... no ID no. on horse, or some other method

  2. There is a wealth of information on the various types of Breyers and great descriptions. However, many of the color photos are off, with a lot of orange tinting. You need to go by the written description rather than the actual photo. Also, I was extremely disappointed in the pricing. As an avid collector and owner of over 180 traditional Breyers, the prices are rather low. You could not use this book for insurance purposes or buying prices. I have seen many of the Breyers listed in the book go for much higher prices than what is quoted in this 5th edition. It is still a good reference book.

  3. This goldmine of information is necessary for both the serious collector and for anyone with interest in the Breyer collectables. It's straightforward pictoral guide is easy to use and the fair market values are just that...fair. Don't shop for a Breyer without it!

  4. Lots of great pictures, but values are off. I would not use this to determine the value of what I'm selling. The values are often less than what the going price is, and occasionally more than they're worth. Great pics and book to see what is out there nonetheless.

  5. As someone who has collected model horses for years and is trying to brush up on my Breyer horse knowledge, this book has been an informative guide. The pictures are clear and it is easy to see the models. Very well written and nice layout!

5 comments about Ty Beanies Tracker Third Edition.

  1. This book is very accurate, informative and well put together. For some time now I've been looking for an up to date beanie list and price guide and this book is it! It's a great item for all Ty collectors!

  2. This book is my bible when buying or selling TY beanies accurate price list, interesting facts and is a must for TY beanie lovers that love to collect these little guys.

  3. Few 20th century collectibles have had as huge a success in the popular culture as those small plush toys known as Beanie Babies -- as well as Punkies, Pinkys, Girtz, and more!. Now in an expanded and fully updated third edition, "Ty Beanies Tracker" under the deft editorship of Beanie Baby expert Karen Holmes provides collectors, dealers, and the general public with a unique, comprehensive, illustrated reference and price guide for these popular toy collectibles. Featuring more than 4,000 color pictures comprising the complete Ty product lines (including variations and rare items), "Ty Beanies Tracker", with its Note Pages, Daffynitions, Attic Treasures, and NASCAR Beanies, is a simply indispensable addition to personal, professional, and community library Antiques & Collectibles reference shelves.

  4. This new edition of Ty Beanies is a complete, very informative source for all "Beanie" collectors, old or new, excellent reference!

  5. Beanie Babies were one of the truly remarkable pop culture phenomena of the last 15 years. I can still remember the first time McDonald's offered the Teenie Beanies and my wife and I spent the better part of the weekend trying to track down as many of the little critters for our son as we could. Beanies, however, suffered the same fate as many other collectibles such as comic books and sports cards, two hobbies I was very familiar with. First, it quickly became driven by speculators trying to make a quick buck. Next, corporate greed too over as Ty began churning out more and more product and started to try and manufacture collectibles with special releases. Today, we go to garage sales and Flea Markets and see people dumping their Beanies, often for as little as a buck each.

Yet for its core collectors, those who got into it for the love, and not necessarily the promise of future value, Beanies are still around and viable. If you don't think there is still an active market out there for trading Beanies, just check out eBay. As I write this review there are over 21,000 auctions underway in the Ty category. The speculators have long since dropped out, prices have righted themselves, and Bangzoom has released the 2nd edition of their indispensable guide. The guide covers the Beanie scene right up through the beginning of 2006 and in its review of the marketplace it makes no bones about it...now is a great time to buy, but not such a great time to sell.

The book provides a history of Beanies and their hang tags. A picture of generation's unique tag is included in the book with notes on variations and changes. The book also lists several different Beanie related websites that feature news, accessory sales, trading posts, and other information. The book lists Beanies alphabetically, and lists their birth date, introduction date, retirement date (if applicable) and their hang tag poems. The generation(s) is also listed as well as a current price. But you'll find more than just Beanie Babies In the guide...it also covers Beanie Buddies, Kids, Boppers, Teenie Beanies, Jingle Beanies, Pluffies, Punkies, and more, over 1500 different TY items. The back provides a handy index and checklist.

While the craze of the mid-90's may be over, there are still millions of Beanie collectors and lovers out there and there is simply no better book on the Market than the Ty Beanies Tracker from Bangzoom.

2 comments about The My Little Pony G1 Collector's Inventory: an unofficial full color illustrated collector's price guide to the first generation of MLP including all ... and accessories released before 1997.

  1. The guide is beautifully done, with clear pictures and fantastic organization. There is clearly a lot of research and work that has gone into this labor of love, and it shows. This book is just brimming with valuable information.

It's a great resource to have on hand. For those of us with extensive collections, it really makes all the difference when trying to organize and inventory ponies and accessories.

As someone who owns both of Summer's books, I highly suggest getting one of your own--it's a great investment!

  2. The pictures in this book are terrific. They are full color and quite detailed. I especially like that Dream Beauties, petites and little litters are included. Accessories are listed but not always shown but it's a wealth of information. I am really enjoying reading it.

5 comments about Boyds Tracker Plush: Value Guide, Second Edition, Vol. 1 of 2.

  1. My Boyd's Bear's book arrived very quickly and it was in excellent condition. Thank You!

  2. I have been looking for a collector's guide for the last several years and stumbled across this. As soon as the book arrived I could not wait to check the secondary prices for all my "friends".

This book will be a wonderful help in getting an extra rider on my homeowners policy to cover my friends should anything happen to them.

The pictures and descriptions in the book are outstanding and the supplemental information is invaluable. I have several friends that have multiple looks and it helped me to distinguish between the bears that have the same name but slightly different looks.

If you are looking for the ultimate collector's guide for Boyds Plush - you must get this book!!

  3. This is a must for Boyds Collectors. Great pictures and great information. Love the Paw Notes. A vast improvement from the First edition.

  4. I have collected Boyds Bears for years and there has been a serious gap in the Price Guide and information Guides for Boyds since Checkerbee went bust.
    This Bangzoom Tracker is FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!
Color pictures, info, tons and tons of stuff I have and want and needed to put in some order!
This is the way to do it with Sense and Brains!!!
If you collect Boyds-you MUST buy this Tracker.
Book or CD-rom; either way you need this to get your stuff organized, catagorized and listed so you know what you have and what you are looking for!
    Great Job Bethy And Bangzoom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. This book is an absolute must have for the true Boyds collector. It is the most accurate guide produced in years... a true Boyds encyclopedia. You won't regret the investment of this guide to find all the history behind your favorite Boyds pieces.

5 comments about Sock Monkeys: 200 out of 1,863.

  1. I loved this pictorial book about a Sock Monkey collection...just their pictures and a few speculatve stories...No two alike, and each has their own personality...Great gift for almost anyone...

  2. What an incredible partnership between the collector and the photographer. These photographs are beautiful. The images capture the whimsy and personality created by anonymous hands. I have collected books of photographic images since the late 1970's and sock monkeys since the early 1990's. This is a wondrous book!
I hope they consider a new edition with more of the collection.(They also have a terrific box of note cards from images in the book)

  3. what a crowd pleaser! I gave this to my friend for Christmas and it was such a hit. its unexpected and charming and some of the pictures just make you laugh out loud. its a great coffee table book. they have such personality, and you can tell that some of them have been really loved over the years. I recommend this book to anyone that has ever been a child....

  4. When this book arrived, it was perfect timing. Sick at home, I couldn't have asked for a better pick-me-up when UPS arrived with my Sock Monkey book.

Although I was hoping the photos showed the monkeys in various poses vs. portraits, the portraits are all so cute that it made up for my disappointment. (I'd love to see the author shoot them in various situations.)

The text is cute, and the photography is top notch.

If you're a sock monkey fan, this is a must have for your library. Makes a great coffee table book too - especially since it looks very hip (not childish).

Show a little sock monkey love and pick up a copy!

  5. about... there isn't much to read in this book, it is just pictures of sock monkeys and a few page silly stories... but i love the pictures. a great great quirky coffee table book! i am gonna buy more so i can give em to friends.

5 comments about The My Little Pony G3 Collector's Inventory: an unofficial full color illustrated guide to the third generation of MLP including all ponies, playsets and accessories from 2003 to the present.

  2. This inventory is a toy collector for all i got this book is great it have a lot on G3 my little pony toy for all of us to know if you a my little pony toy collector this collector book is for you

  3. This inventory is a toy collector (or kid's dream) come true! Each page is full of high quality, colored pictures with the name and description of the ponies IN YEAR ORDER of when they came out. A picture of the new in box ponies of EACH one is also featured at the bottom of the page!

This guide also feautres EVERY pony and My Little Pony piece from 2003-2007 when the book was published- If your little girl (or boy) loves the ponies, you would be at a loss to not purchase this book for them.

Can't afford to buy or purchase every pony out there? Well this would make a great addition to the pony collection and doesn't take up as much space and money as owning all the ponies!

  4. The pictures are nice and glossy with excellent descriptions of each item. SO many pages from the past few years of all the pony toys and playsets and she provides checklists next to each item! I was personally excited about getting this book and was lucky to get to meet Summer in person and have her sign it for me. :) I highly recommend this book. I will definitely be using it for years to come. Thanks so much Summer for a fantastic product!

  5. This book is DEFINITELY worth it if you collect the current release My Little Ponies. Everything is very organized, with pictures of the different ponies both in their original packaging and removed from the box. Some even have detailed Cutie Mark pictures. There are notes about special European released items and the peculiar Mexican and Brazilian ponies, as well as those available for general distribution worldwide.

The only error I caught was a picture mix-up involving Fancy Hair ponies Royal Beauty and Rainbow Treat on page 112. Other than that, everything was perfect!

It is a fabulous paper resource to organize and catalogue one's collection.

This could also make a very good gift for children who like the My Little Pony toys, due to the pictures and interesting information, but beware--they could fall in love with one of the RARE ponies like Rosey Posey! ;) Of course, perhaps that would create a budding collector!

I can't wait to see a second or third edition as the My Little Pony line continues! Heaps of thanks to Summer Hayes for taking the time to get this guide together!

5 comments about Ty Beanie Babies Winter 2001 Collector's Value Guide.

  1. i received this book thinking it was going to be in good shape. when i received this book it was wrote all in. for the same price i could have bought it new.
    poor service

  2. The good folks editing the reviews here at Amazon have told me in no uncertain terms that my reviews should focus SOLELY on the product itself. Comments on merchandising are entirely unwelcome, at least according to some editors here. In reference to my comments on a similar product I've been told "Your review of the Collector's Value Guide has been removed from our database, as it is not a critique of the book in question. It is not clear from reading the review that you have read the book you commented on." How one comments on the quality of a "book" like the Ty Beanie Babies Winter 2001 Collector's Value Guide, which is almost exclusively about merchandise and exists solely because of marketing, without commenting on merchandising of the products I don't quite know. (To prove I've actually "read the book", hopefully I'll be allowed to tell you that the products considered in this tome are small stuffed animal [some imaginary] toys with heart-shaped paper tags on their ears known as "Beanie Babies". I'm not at all sure that I'll be allowed to discuss these legume-namesaked infants further, though.)

But I'll give it a try: Having read the Ty Beanie Babies Winter 2001 Collector's Value Guide, by an anonymous author, I can say that I was extremely disappointed. True, there were lots of good pictures, and tons of characters, but character development was extremely limited. The plot was completely incomprehensible to me. Whoever this mystery author is, he or she is far more obscure than James Joyce ever was! Talk about sound and fury signifying nothing! I can't help but think that another author would have done so much better with this material. Now, I don't want to give away the ending or too many "plot twists", but I was disappointed to find that as soon as the reader gets interested in a particular character, that character disappears ominously (or in Beanie Baby parlance, " is retired"). I'm not at all sure that younger children should be exposed to such a frightening prospect. Older children may be able to get past these concerns to see the essential theme of the book in a positive light as the continual renewal of life. But frankly, I'd give this book a miss.

  3. I do not really use this as a price guide, because let's face it, most of the common Beanies are only worth as little as 3.00. But it is a good color picture guide, and you can use it for knowing what's out there. There were so many 2001 releases, I couldn't keep track of them online. So at least I can go through the book and mark which ones I have, and which ones I want. I want to get all the cats, at least!!

  4. I love beanies, they are so cute like my little dog teddy. Unfortunately, sometimes he is not so cute and he eats my Beanie Babies. But at least teddy didn't eat this book, I don't know what I would do! My dog is so cute, I wish that I could find a Beanie Baby that looked like him.

  5. With each page having a space to put your bought price and market value (some filled in) this book makes it easy to organise the value of your collection. It includes Ty Buddies, the Mc Donald's teenie beenies the beanie kids and of courde, beanie babies. Being the most recent, it includes the new zodiac babies. Each page has colourful photos of the toy, the poem in its tag. its release date, retirement date and birthdate.

But wait there's more!! Found at the back are sport's promotion beanies, spotting counterfeits, tag generations and a list of beanies by their birthdays. Thank goodness its got a good index..........

  1. This little book is packed with a huge amount of character and creativity. The sock monkeys have a loveable humor and sincerity that comes from the hearts and fingers of all the many people who sewed them. The pictures are nice on the eyes because the colors are rich and beautiful and the textures of the yarns and fabrics are touchable. This book is being loved by everyone in my entire family. It's a great book.

  2. The photos of the sock monkeys are like colorful portraits of relatives and friends; my six-year-old is convinced that one of the photos is of his big brother's best friend, Calder. He's also sure that another photo of a somewhat stern looking monkey is absolutely and unequivocally our (meanish) neighbor down the street. Our 15-year-old is entranced with the outlandish outfits that some of the monekys are sporting. The book is a perfect size and has the look and feel of a marvelously kooky schoolbook from my childhood.
I tried to get the 2008 sock monkey calendar by Arne Svenson and Ron Warren, but it was sold out by the time I ordered. This time I didn't wait. I just bought multiples of the book and am putting them away as fun gifts for the holidays.

5 comments about Ty Beanie Babies Collectors Value Guide (Collector's Value Guide Ty Beanie Babies).

  1. This is a horrible series with information that becomes outdated very quickly. Save your money and buy Beanie Babies, instead.

  2. I purchased this book to keep track of all of my investments, and it has done just that. It is a great book that gives you everything that a beanie babie collector needs to know. But on the downside, it has left out some of the prices for some strange reason. That's why it is only 4 *'s

  3. I loved it because it had a pocket planner inside, free, for no charge. It really gives kids an idea of how to become great collectors.

  4. This book is one of the main reasons my 3 daughters and I began collecting beanies. We did not know where to start in our search. This book made it so simple and enjoyable that we have become avid collectors and enjoy working together as a group. My daughters are 10, 8, and 6, thanks for giving us the ability to have a project together that we can enjoy. We never would have known what to do without this book. Even my 18 month old loves the pictures in this book and will cry if we take it away from him. It is teaching him his animals. See, this book has a multipurpose use!!!

  5. This is a perfect book for all the beanie infomation you need. I would recomend this book to everyone!

2 comments about Warman's Bean Plush Field Guide: Values and Identification (Warman's Bean Plush Field Guide).

  1. While this book doesn't include every beanie ever made, it does have 1,200+, with a clear color photo for every one listed. About 70% of them are Ty, which makes sense because that's by far the most popular maker. And the photos are big enough to easily identify the beanies. It's got the best photos of beans and Ty tags that I've seen in a beanie book. It's not an exhaustive manual, but it does have a lot for its size. After all, it's a pocket field guide, not an encyclopedia.
Also, it has a lot of information and tips on how to buy and sell beanies on eBay. While the prices are lower than secondary store prices, they're right on for eBay. Overall, I'm really pleased with it and I definitely think it's worth the price.

  2. I bought this book today because I'm an avid Ty collector. There are so many Beanies not listed, and hardly any of the various other types of Ty products. Also only a few pages of each of the other brands of plush when I know there are so many products. This is just not a very complete book. If you want a much better, although still not perfect Ty collector guide, go to Bangzoom Press and buy the Beanie Babies Value Tracker from them.
