3 comments about The Official Beckett Price Guide to Baseball Cards 2006, Edition #26 (Official Price Guide to Baseball Cards).

  1. The book was what I wanted. But it was slightly bent and twisted when it arrived. The package didn't look to be damaged just the book.

  2. I went with this book because of the name and when I started to get into my cards which there are about 3 thousand of them I relized that this books only has specific years of specific brands and sets. I started off looking for 1992 Dunruss which I have the complete set and they are not in it for example, then i wanted to check my Leaf cards and it jumps from 1946 up to I beliebe 1999 or 2001 either way Over 50 years not listed in Leaf. I will not go into what is in there for upperdeck. in short if i were looking for a book with a close to complete set of prices for cards it would not be this book. Spend your money on another book and get what you need.

  3. I recently received this book. I was surprised to see how many brand issues were omitted. Try to find various years of Stadium Club or Fleer Ultra for example. Many are missing. I am not sure if this was intentional or accidental. This book still has a lot of value, but not Dr. Beckett and company's best effort. I would look elsewhere for more complete and thorough compilation.

3 comments about Sayonara Home Run!: The Art of the Japanese Baseball Card.

  1. This could've been featured in our collector's section or even our sports section, but is presented here for its powerful artistic survey of Japanese sports through its lovely baseball card art. SAYONARA HOME RUN! THE ART OF THE JAPANESE BASEBALL CARD features player history, card art, and loved and hated baseball teams alike. It will attract any with an interest in world baseball or in collectible ballgame cards - and many a browser with an interest in neither!

  3. Vinatge Japanese baseball cards are among the most beautiful baseball collectibles in the world. I discovered these treasures over ten years ago during a trip to Japan and became an avid collector. My passion for the cards eventually led to a on-line card business and a career as a baseball writer. John Gall and Gary Engel's new book Sayanara Homerun! depicts hundreds, if not thousands, of theese beautiful cards. The book's presentation is wonderful. Cards are gracefully portrayed as art but the accompanying text will statisfy both baseball card collectors and fans of Japanese baseball.

If you are an American baseball cards collector, come see what you are missing. If you a fan of Japanese baseball, come see great pictures of your favorite stars.

I spend hours paging through this book and expect that you will enjoy it as much as I have.

1 comments about 2000 Standard Catalog of Football Cards (Standard Catalog of Football Cards, 2000).

  1. I was so impressed with this Football Card Catalog. One of it's best features is the alphabetical order of each and every card manufacturer with the years of publication. But my favorite feature is the fact that it list every card, of every set and gives you additional info about the distribution of inserts, as well as the prices for all. A wonderful buy for any serious card collector.

5 comments about 2002 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards (Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, 11th ed).

  1. I agree that this is the most comprehesive book around, but is my index the only one whose page numbers are not accurate? It must have been otherwise it could not be ranked a 5-star book by everyone else.

  2. If you're an avid collector of baseball cards seeking a definitive, weighty valuation guide offering comprehensive coverage from 1867 to modern times, don't miss the extensively updated, expanded 2004 Standard Catalog Of Baseball Cards, edited by Bob Lemke. While the heart of this thirteenth edition of the "bible" of baseball card collecting lies in its supstantial pages of detailed valuations, there are also over 12,000 clear black and white photos and over 11,000 sets of cards listed, from team issues to postcards.

  3. Thank you Bob Lemke! Once again, Bob and his staff has assembled an amazing,in-depth collection of baseball card information, that is second to none. No matter what issue you're looking for, whether it be from the 19th century, or just last year..you can bet that the SCD has the most accurate coverage and pricing of any price guide offered. If you collect baseball cards, this is a must have!!

  4. I have been purchasing this complete baseball card price
guide for the past five years. This is one guide a serious
    collector should not be without!

  5. If you're a card collector, this is the book for you. Every set imaginable is listed by card #, example photo, and value. It even shows card set variations. For example, the 1916 Altoona Tribune set is actually the same as the 1916 The Sporting New set with a different back. This has been an invaluable tool in my quest of the complete Pete Rose collection, as well as, giving me a renewed enthusiasm for the players of old.

3 comments about Beckett Baseball Card Alphabetical Checklist.

  1. This is very simple. If you collect baseball cards, you need ths book. It's just that easy!!!

  2. This book is an absolute necessity for baseball card collectors who are in search of specific players. The book alphabetically lists every player who has appeared on a baseball card. Not only does it list the major companies (like Topps), it does an excellent job of listing locally issued cards. It includes minor league cards as well. If you are looking for a specific player's cards, this is the best place to find every card produced of that player.
The only downside to this book is that it is fairly quickly outdated due to the glut of cards on the market. Back in the day, a great player like Hank Aaron might have 1 regular card and maybe 5-10 special or regional cards each year. Now, a player like Albert Pujols might have over 100 total each year.
That downside cannot be avoided, though. With that in mind, this book cannot do much more.

  3. THIS BOOK HELPED ME AND MY COLLECTOR FRIENDS SO MUCH , THAT I HAD TO GIVE IT TO ONE OF THEM WHO DOES NOT LIVE IN THE USA, AND THAT IS WHY I AM NOW BUYING MY SECI=OND COPY. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

1 comments about Beckett Football Card Alphabetical Checklist.

  1. This book alphabetizes all of the football players and the cards that they are featured on. The only reason that this book did not get 5 stars is becuase they did not list every parallel card (silver, bronze, etc., if you are a card collector, you know what I mean) in the book, when it would not have taken up much more space or time. This would have made the player's list more complete. As far as the book content, the list is very complete and is great for discovering new and unique cards that you might not have known existed. I am looking forward to #2, so I can further update my lists. Good job, Beckett, but please be more complete next time.
