1. I keep and breed corns snakes, and this book helped me out a lot. McEachern has had a LOT of experience with these snakes, and I don't know if I could have gotten far without this book. By far the BEST corn snake manual around!!!

1. It is so nice to have a practical guide for the pet owner that isn't written like a text book. I really enjoyed it.



2. This book is descriptive and informative even for the experienced turtle owner.



3. There should be more spell-it-out for the beginner books like this on the subject. Turtles are very difficult to care for properly and this book is full of truths on the matter. Concise and thorough - a necessity for the rookie or pro turtle keeper.



4. Easy to read and lots of practical information based on author's vast experiences. As a beginner, I truly found it resourceful and useful. If you love to read a how-to book, it is the one you're looking for. But if you love fancy photos, 4-color pictures for reference purpose, etc. it's not what you need. Liz, it'd be very much better and will be perfect if you could possibly include more 4-color pictures of famous tortoises and turtles.

1. This work is not as accurate as the work in the Herpetocultural Library Series regarding the temperment of some species. However, it does not give poor advice regarding husbandry. It is also thorough in covering every species and subspecies of Nerodia, providing wonderful full-color photos of every representative of this interesting Genus which makes it a great field guide. A must have for the pictures alone.

1. A book on the captive care of garter snakes for beginners has been badly needed for quite some time, and this excellent little book fills that need very nicely indeed. While it does not provide the level of information that serious garter snake hobbyists would like, and could be more precise in terms of diet and the unique requirements of some species, that sort of detail would be inappropriate in a beginner's guide like this one. It sets out the basic requirements (feeding, caging, health) that any snake keeper just starting out is going to need to know. I breed garter snakes myself and am very happy that I can now refer my customers, particularly the younger ones, to a book that answers so many of their questions.

1. If you have even the most basic herp knowledge, this book will disappoint you. This book does not do justice to the rough green snake and reads like a report submitted by a second grader. Don't waste your money!

1. A fantastic frog book, wonderful source of information for new pet owners as well as serious hobbyists. It contains separate chapters full of informative captive care description for Poison Frogs, Clawed Frogs, Fire-bellied Toads, White's (Dumpy) Treefrogs, Horned Frogs, African Bullfrogs, Budgett's Frog and assorted Treefrogs and Brown and Red Toads. High quality color photos throughout. Highly recommended.

1. I like it... i bought it used for a very good price, so no wasted $$$ here. It does get a little technical, but just pay attention and you'll be fine.



2. This book is almost 20 years old and it shows. It lacks many common species, and what information it does have is very very high level. I would recommend that the reader find ANOTHER book. I wish I had spent my money elsewhere.



3. This is a wonderful and informative book that you will want to have in your collection if you are thinking about becoming a "reefer" or are already one. You will find the answers to the many questions you will have in this fantastic book.
